Service cancellation fee

I need to cancel our service. We have 4 lines, all being smartphones. How do I do it? I'm SURE Verizon charges a cancellation fee, ha!

If you cancel in the middle of your billing cycle...Verizon will give you some mumbo jumbo that the "port"  didn't complete until the day before your next billing cycle.  How convenient!!!  I cancelled 3 weeks before my billing cycle and paid their early termination fee.  I didn't have a problem paying that but I do have a problem paying them until the end of the cycle when I can't use the phone.  They got an extra $75.  So don't cancel in the middle of your cycle but then if you do, they will probably give you some **** about the "port" didn't finish until the next billing cycle.  I guess either way your are screwed!!!  Glad I am not a Verizon customer.  BTW, I was transferred three times to learn that I wasn't getting my $75. bucks back.  Good Luck!!!
Actually, paying for the full final month of service isn't "mumbo jumbo," it is part of the terms and conditions of the customer agreement:
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY POSTPAY SERVICE IS CANCELED BEFORE THE END OF MY CONTRACT TERM?
If you're signing up for Postpay Service, you're agreeing to subscribe to a line of Service either on a month–to–month basis or for a minimum contract term, as shown on your receipt or order confirmation.  (If your Service is suspended without billing, that time doesn't count toward completing your contract term.) Once you've completed your contract term, you'll automatically become a customer on a month–to–month basis for that line of Service. If you cancel a line of Service, or if we cancel it for good cause, during its contract term, you'll have to pay an early termination fee.  If your contract term results from your purchase of an advanced device, your early termination fee will be $350 minus $10 for each full month of your contract term that you complete.  Otherwise, your early termination fee will be $175 minus $5 for each full month of your contract term that you complete.  Cancellations will become effective on the last day of that month's billing cycle, and you are responsible for all charges incurred until then.  Also, if you bought your wireless device from an authorized agent or third–party vendor, you should check whether they charge a separate termination fee.
It has nothing to do with the port.  When you agree to the contract, you agree to pay for that final month. Most carriers do this.  I had U.S. Cellular for a couple of years, and they had the same policy.  I don't know about AT&T or T-Mobile, but I am fairly certain Sprint has the same terms as well.  Knowing the terms of the  contract you agreed to saves time, hassle, and frustration.  Also you don't have to pay two companies for a one month of service.

  • Services I never requested then a huge cancellation fee.

Last month I went to pay my bill and noticed I was being charged for internet service I did not request or approve. I should explain I tried comcast internet once before and never could get it to work despite trying multiple modems, so there's no way I would have approved internet service. The local comcast service center did nothing but refer me to a phone # where I spoke to a rep who finally cancelled my internet service and promised to refund the money I was charged for a self install kit. Now this month I look at my bill and find a $230 cancellation fee! My case has been assigned to a rep named Steven but he doesn't return my calls. I cannot even put into words how angry I am. I want my cable tv package and nothing more- no internet, no phone, just cable tv.Wayne

  • Moving and an unknown cancelation fee.

I am moving to an area where service is not provided and because I have to cancel I have to pay $110. I asked for a copy of the contract but was told it was a verbal agreement. I asked for him to read back the verbal agreement and no where does it say anything about paying a cancelation fee if I am moving to another are. If it had I wouldn't have singed up because I knew I planned on moving. Is there any way to get a copy of the verbal agreement? And if I never agreed to this moving fee is there anyone I can call about it?

I am getting this error whilst attempting to move NEF (Nikon RAW files) either between folders on the same hard-drive or between hard-drives (which are incorporated into my Lightroom catalogue).
Whenever I receive this error, a strange (locked) file appears in the directory/folder to which I intended to move the file and on examining this file in the terminal I can see that it contains the following error message: "cannot execute binary file...logout". The filename of this strange file is usually very random such as 470F00FF-9FBC-4517-84BF-26E52251B2B9-449-0000020C6A4DD5FD
I do not have any problems with missing sidecars and always select "save metadata to files" before attempting to move the files...can anyone figure this out?

  • Bad uverse service, cancelled after 11 days and was hit with $112 bill!

As this was a new installation there is a non pro rated one time charge of $49, leaving actual charge of $63. From...http://www.att.com/u-verse/explore/offer-details.jspPromotional pricing applies to service rates only and excludes taxes, equipment fees, and other charges, including a $49 service activation fee, city video cost recovery fees, where applicable, and a Broadcast TV surcharge AND....30-Day Money Back Guarantee: Must cancel all AT&T U-verse services within 30 days from service activation. Adjustment provided for monthly recurring charges only. Customer is responsible for all additional charges, including but not limited to installation, activation, On Demand, Pay per View, international calls, other pay-per-use features, non-returned equipment charges, and any other one-time fees.  There is no 70mps service, and higher speed tiers require bonded when available...The data base can be wrong.... But the billing cannot be erased, services installed, canceled within 30 days thus have no $180 early termination fee.

I've been a Uverse customer for 4 years, and a wireless one for longer than that. I moved a few weeks ago and had my uverse set up at the new house.  The install technician was great, but the news of what I had was not so great.  Long story short, the lines going to my house were not sufficient for reliable Uverse service.  I was paying for the max turbo (24mbps) service at the old address, but due to line length and the AT&T engineer not wanting to give me a bonded pair port from the VRAD, I had to downgrade to 12mbps service and only if I wasn't watching more than one HD channel.  I gave it a good honest try since I had good service at the old house.  I've run multiple speedtest.net bandwidth tests and sometimes I would hit 12, sometimes it would drop to 4 or less.  Sometimes web pages wouldn't load on the first try.  The TV pixellated often enough that it was annoying to watch.  The service  was installed on May 15th, and on May 26th I called and cancelled.  I just got a bill in Friday for $184, and I was "graciously" given a credit for $72.  The billing period listed was for May 15-June 16.  So how can 11 days of service that didn't live up to Uverse standards net me a charge of $112?  I didn't even have it half a billing cycle, so why was the credit given less than half the bill?  I don't feel I should have to pay any of it since I wasn't receiving the advertised services I ordered, and nobody I talked to when cancelling said there would be any charges or a "final bill."  According to the AT&T corporate store as well as the address check on the uverse website, I was supposed to be eligible for 70mbps service.  That clearly wasn't the reality of what I had available.  How can I make them erase this bill?

  • How do I find out how much my cancellation fee will be?

I am thinking about canceling my one of my services with Verizon. How do I determine the amount of my cancelation fee?

    charrr wrote:
Ok. My contract is done on 9/30/11 and I was on a 2 year contract, do you know how much I would be paying?
Thought I was pretty specific, and you haven't disclosed what phone you have, but if you can't do the math, I will give it a try.
Are you sure that this is your contract end date, or just your upgrade date? Verizon allows you to upgrade 20 months into your 24 month contract in exchange for signing a NEW 24 month contract. I will treat this as your contract end date, though.
Smart phone, as I said before, it is $350 less $10 for each month of your 24 month contract that you have completed. If your contract end date is 9/30/11, then you signed on 9/30/09. This means that you have completed 16 months of your 24 month contract. So $350 - $160 = $190.

  • Cancellation fee when moving out, (after contract ...

Hi, I am moving abroad soon. I would like to know what charges I will have to pay. My 18 month contract with BT infinity will be over before I leave. I understand that I will lose the line rental as I have already paid for a full year. But should I be paying a cancellation fee? I am not cancelling I am moving abroad.

It is in their Terms and Conditions that they will charge a £30 cease charge.
A cease charge of £30.00 (not subject to VAT) is payable if you cease your broadband service and do not request and use a migration access code or another recognised transfer process to move to another service provider.
It does go onto to say:
This charge is not raised if you are moving home and BT is unable to provide the service at the new address. For more information please visit www.bt.com/ceasecharge
    And also this part:
When won't the charge be raised?
This charge will not be raised should you :-
Move home and you re-connect to BT Total Broadband via the homemover process.
Move home and we are unable to provide the service at your new UK address.
You are ceasing service due to bereavement or severe illness.

  • 50% Cancellation Fee.  NOT HAPPY!!

First of all, let me say, the way that you have sucked people into this soul sucking subscription with no way out to be unconscionable.
I signed up for the cloud after one of your sales people talked me into it when I wanted to purchase a CS6 upgrade.  I wasn't told of your annual renewal policy nor that there would be a 50% cancellation fee for what remains on my 'yearly' commitment.  Had that been made clear to me, I never would of agreed.
When I called up to cancel - as I can't personally take the expense anymore, I was told that there would be a $170 cancellation fee charged.  THAT IS B.S!!
You are praying on people for no reason.  I can understand when re-stocking fee's are applied and fee's if you had invested into my 'membership'.  BUT YOU DON"T and it's just pure greedy profit, because you can.  I AM FURIOUS.  People's situation changes and you're being d*bags Adobe!

  • A friend wants to switch to verizon from their current carrier. Will verizon pay for the cancellation fee?

What are the pros and cons to switching to verizon from other carriers?
WIll verizon pay pay the cancellation fee?

Pros and cons of switching to Verizon ... would depend on your requirements for service, and your budget and willingness to pay.  Research the carriers, their coverage, their services, and their prices. Then decide what works best.
Years ago when researching our very first cell phones, Verizon had the best coverage in our area, and comparable pricing to the other carriers, so we went with Verizon.  Over the years I have compared pricing, and for what we have and need, Verizon still comes out even with or better the other carriers available to us, so we stay.
So, your friend would need to decide if the termination fee from his/her current carrier is worth the cost of switching.  It's a pretty subjective and personal decision, what works for me or you may not work for your friend.

  • How much would my cancellation fee be

I am having lots of issues with Verizon and am seriously considering cancelling my service. I just renewed my contract at the beginning of the year I believe so how much would that make my price be??? please help

I think it starts at like $350 and then every month that goes by it decreases by $5 or $10 (pretty sure its $5)so the closer you get to your 2 year mark the cheaper it is.  You can google it on the net I am sure you will find it quicker
Here is the fee just looked it up and how it rolls out:
Feature Phone (Starts at $175 and goes down $5 every month)
SmartPhone (Starts at $350 and goes down $10 Every month)
So if its been about 10 months your looking at a $250 cancellation fee at this point for just one phone

  • Misled by Salesman - FIOS cancellation fee

Sad to see posts like mine all over the internet. Even more sad that I didn't see them before I switched to Verizon. This past April I switched from Comcast to Verizon FIOS. At the time I was apprehensive about signing a 2 year contract, knowing that I likely wouldn't be in the same are for that long. I was assured by both the home salesman and customer service that, if I moved to an area they didn't service, I wouldn't be charged an early cancellation fee. Now I am moving, and the only thing Verizon offers in the area is home phone service. Since I am moving into a parsonage, the phone line is already provided from the church, so I have no need for another home phone line. Talked to Dave in customer service today, and he informed me that I am facing a $125 early cancellation fee, since they do "technically" still offer service in that area, even though I made it clear when I signed up that I had no interest in any services other than internet. So my choices are either to pay a $125 early cancellation fee or $20/month + setup fees for a home phone that I don't need. Terrible customer service Verizon...

    Hi Whalefree,
Would you mind sending this post to me in a private message along with your account details so I can investigate this for you?

  • £30 cancellation fee for broadband.

I've been with BT for ages, decades actually and as I was moving in to a new house I decided to see if I could get a cheaper service.
Plusnet are £13.99 for line rental and £5.99 for 10 gig of broadband and free evening and weekend calls.
So not only have I been royally shafted all along but now they charge me £30 cancellation fee for my broadband.
If you are a moderator reading this please do not reply by saying it's in the contract, I don't care if it is - it's not how to treat a loyal customer who's spent probably 10's of thousands of pounds with your company over the years.
It is not in the spirit of good customer service to charge people to leave anything. That's known as EXTORTION and holding people to ransom.  This is a thinly veiled attempt to get people to say "Oh well, if it's £30 to leave I'll stay."
WRONG ! I'm off to plusnet and I'll be complaining to OFCOM  http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/tell-us/
and your customer services in writing.
I'll also ensure I tell everyone I know on facebook not to sign up with BT.

I'm afraid it's OFCOM who allowed them to introduce the charge in the first place, so you won't get far complaining to them.
"As a condition of our service, you must, when you end your broadband service request and use a migration authorisation code (MAC) or another recognised transfer process to move to another service provider. If in breach of this condition you do not do this you will have to pay a broadband cease charge of £30 by way of compensation to us. You will not have to pay this charge in the event you are moving home and we are unable to provide the service at the new UK address. For more information go to http://www.bt.com/ceasecharge. This charge is compensatory and is not subject to VAT."
I'm guessing you didn't get a MAC, or Plusnet didn't use it properly.

  • Early cancellation fee

I have a family plan package with 3 phones. We moved to a new neighborhood 9 miles away and now I have very limited service inside my one story home. I spoke with the verizon tech rep and tried of few things, but none worked. Why am paying almost $200/month for little to no service? My work requires me to be on call several days out of the month. I cannot afford to have missed calls. The verizon rep told me that I could pay $250 for a signal booster, but refuse to pay extra for something that should be standard. They offered to discount it a few dollars, but I told them I am not willing to pay anymore for this service. I have been an excellent customer with verizon 15+ years. This is how verizon is taking care of me.  I have starting to research other companies and was wondering if verizon charges each phone a cancellation fee or a package cancellation fee?

Each line is charged an ETF since each line has its own contract.  If you last purchased a smartphone when signing a new two-year contract, the ETF is $350 minus $10 for each full month of the contract term you've completed (it's $175 minus $5 if you last purchased a basic phone).
