Moving configurations between machines - WL 6.0

OS: Solaris 8
JDK: 1.3.0
WL: 6.0.0
I was trying to move a working configuration domain from machine A to
machine B. Machine A and B have different system passwords and are not
located in the default
location.
I am encountering the following:
The WebLogic Server did not start up properly.
Exception raised: java.lang.SecurityException: Authentication for user
system denied in realm weblogic

Reason: Fatal initialization exception
These are the following things I tried to resolve the issue without success.
1) Ensured that the password in password.ini corresponded to the system
password on the new machine.
2) Copied fileRealm.properties from config/mydomain on the new machine to
the new configuration domain location.
This is what I had to do to start the new server:
1) Copy config/mydomain to newlocation/config/newdomainname
2) Copy config.xml from old machine to new machine overwriting original
mydomain's config.xml
Are there any hidden files/directories that are causing this problem?
Is there a more straightforward remedy than having to copy mydomain?

Thank you for the information. The file is SerializedSystemIni.dat.
I copied it from wl/config/mydomain to my new instance and it solved
authentication problem.

Hello,
Is it possible to move BW configuration (ie, cubes, ods, infoobjects, etc) from BW 3.1C to NW2004s via transport?
If not by way of transport, how about XML?
Essentially, we are exploring the advantages/disadvantages with upgrading an existing BW3.1C system that has been around since 1.2B vs. a new 2004s instance with migrating just a subset of the components in the current BW 3.1C system. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Hello Donald,
unfortunatley a transport between different release is very problematic and I belive it will not work.
XML is a good idea, but I believe not all of the components like transfer and update rules are exported from the "old" 3.1C system.
The only way I see migrate the whole system and delete the not need components afterwards.

Disk image moved between machines--shouldn't this work?

Hello, I am having a problem making a functional DVD. Here's the scenario:
I have a MacBook Pro (2009) with iMovie '09 installed, and I have a project I want to burn. The optical drive is broken, and the smart folks at Apple decided that they'd make it impossible for my shiny new external superdrive to work with my MacBook Pro. BUT, I also have a MacBook Air 2012 which can use the superdrive just fine. I can't transfer the iMovie project between machines--iMovie '11 has some terrible bugs when you try to import still photographs. So my solution was this:
--on the MBP, export the movie from iMovie as a quicktime .mov,
--open the .mov in iDVD (after experimentation, this gives MUCH better results than choosing "export to iDVD" in iMovie)
--in iDVD, save as a disk image
--copy the .img file (using a thumb drive) to the MBA
--Use Disk Utility on the MBA to burn the disk image just transferred onto a DVD using the external superdrive
Could someone tell me where this elaborate chain is likely to go wrong? The first disc I tried creating like this could be played on a computer using VLC (and the menu was operational, it wasn't just reading the video file), but it didn't work on either of the regular DVD players I tried.
Any help troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated. Here are the details of all the settings:iMovie 09 -> export using quicktime -> file type .mov -> compression type H.264, Frame rate current, Key frames automatic, compressor quality Best, encoding Best Quality, Data Rate automatic. In iDVD Preferences I chose NTSC (I'm in North America), encoding Professional Quality, and the correct DVD type (dual layer). In Disk Utility on the MBP I just dragged the transferred .img file into the left-hand pane, selected it and hit Burn.
When I transferred the .img file, that was all I transferred between machines.

How can I find out whether it (the ext Hard Disk) is formatted as Mac OS extended?
• Select it on DeskTop/Finder (one Click)
• then go to File and down to Show Info - or - [cmd+I]
• read formatted as : nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
And lastly I read elsewhere that DVD-R would be more reliable than DVD+R.
DVD+R are a more modern format and by so more reliable - BUT OLD DVD-Players can not read them so I chose them due to not knowing what player it will be played on.
And I think that if the DVD was able to be read on another computer, then it could not have had burn errors right?
No - but different devices has better or worse Error Correcting Functions - so keeping the amount of Burn Errors dowm = More devices can play them.

Sso configuration between two machines

Hi all, I need to configure two machines having same j2e engine and EP for sso. I have been trying all possibilities but could get any thing.
My process is:
I have sample application. I have configured by ticket template on both machines.
I have same user on both machines.
I have exported verify.der from issuer to acceptor.
I have created Iview in issuer which is taking me to acceptors application.
But when I open acceptors application it popup login window even I am accessing this application through issuers portal.
Looking for some help.

Intel Macs & G5s: Problems when moving projects between them

An earlier post* suggesting complete compatibility between the latest FCP in a G5 and in an Intel Mac may be in error.
We are experiencing continuing crashes using our Intel Mac when we work on projects that were originally either imported or partially rendered in the G5.
It has gotten to the point where we feel we must keep projects completely isolated from each other: Either it is a "G5 project" or it is an "Intel Mac" project. Moving projects back and forth between the two leads to problems such as:
The Intel Mac does not recognize any renders done in the G5...
The Intel Mac crashes when rendering 'G5' projects...
The Intel mac crashes when compressor goes to work to export sequences to mpeg...
The G5 works fine with Intel Mac-originated material: It is only in the Intel Mac where we have these problems.
Both systems are up-to-the minute on their OS, security updates, and FCP versions. We are using variously 720p/30 from the JVC GY-100UA and 1080i/30 from the Sony Z1U.
Our questions are:
Is anyone else experiencing similar problems moving projects between a G5 and an Intel Mac?
Is anyone moving projects between the two platforms and experiencing NO problems at all? That information would be just as valuable, and very welcome.
Apple FCP development team: Is our experience unique or have you had other reports like this? Any idea what could be causing our problems -- and what we can do to fix them?

I have had no problems moving my G5 projects over to my MP.
You can not move render files between machines.
When you changed systems, did you use Migration Assistant to transfer your files over to your new Mac Pro? You might need to install from the disks in order to achieve native Intel performance. See if you installed Final Cut 5.1 on your G5 then it installed the PPC code... if you put that drive into your Mac Pro or used Migration Assistant to move the app over it is still the PPC code... When you install from the installation disk, Installer determines what system you are installing on (PPC or Intel) and that's what it installs. This goes for all of your "Universal Binary" apps...
In the System Profiler app. under Software/Applications
Final Cut Pro "kind" should be Universal on your MP.
The FCP development team do not read these posts, only users do.

Yes.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
You can figure out using it with another machine from that too

Hi, Question about secure empty trash. I moved some Time Machine backup files to the trash from an external hard drive. Now I can't secure empty trash. It starts, finds 74,003 files, and does nothing. The external hard drive shows it's empty, but it isn't

I moved some time machine backup files from an external USB hard drive to the trash. Tried secure empty trash. It counts 74,003 items, then just sits there. The external hard drive window shows it's empty, but the info pane says it only has 50G of memory left. I left the secure empty trash on over night. It did nothing. Ideas?

Relaunch the Finder, then from the Finder menu bar, select
Finder ▹ Preferences ▹ Advanced
and uncheck the box marked Empty Trash securely. Try again to empty the Trash.

Any way to configure time machine?

I have heard that there is a way to configure time machine so you can specify how often to back up the hard drive. Any thoughts?
I am not sure why Apple chose not to allow the user to specify the time interval. Right now, I have 150 GB on my hard drive and over 300 GB in backups.

Copy configuration between company codes tool

Hi,
I would like to know if we can copy configuration between company codes? If yes, how do we do that? I know there are some third party tools available, but couldnt recollect now. Any guesses?

Since it are more than 200 customers, a manual operation isn't very efficient.
As I understand, no standard SAP programs exist to copy multiple customers from 1 company code to another. A new CATT will have to be created.
Does anyone have this kind of program, otherwise I will create it from scratch.

Configure Local Machine is grayed out in Server Monitor

I'm trying to configure one of our Intel Xserves for use with Lithium for monitoring via the LOM port. When I go to Server Monitor the Configure Local Machine menu item is grayed out.
All the units have the same hardware config and are working so I'm not sure what is going on.
Where should I begin do you think?

I hadn't thought of that so it's not a dumb question. The version of the OS is 10.5.8 and Server Monitor is 1.7, which is the same as the other servers.

LR5 stopped moving files between folders

Hi everybody,
I've noticed today that my LR5 stopped moving files between folders, I select files I want to move and drag them over to a new location like I always did before with only difference is now nothing happends, no messages with errors, nothing... I tried to google it and couldn't find anything related to my problem.
I'm using Windows 8 x64. I checked the permissions on all the photo folders and everything seems to be correct. I also run LR under admin rights, so there shouldn't be any OS related issues... in addition, it was working just fine till today.
I hope you can at least point me in right direction to dig more info on the problem with my LR5.
