Moving into temp house 2 mths,it has bt,can i shar...

I am moving into my Dads house for one or two months untill i find a new place. I am still under contract with BT and have bt broadband too. It will cost me £150 to get out of my contract, then when i find a new place it will cost me £130 approx to get bt back. Just for the sake of 2 months is there a way I can transfer my bt phone and broadband to my Dads address without disrupting his bt phone and broadband?? I dont necessarily want to use my phoneline or broadband, i just want somewhere to `store` it for want of a better word at little cost. I have heard of something called `Call sSgn` where the you can have 2 lines on one socket and the ring tone is different depending whose number is called, but what about broadband on this setup? Or does anyone have any other ideas? I hope someone can help save me almost £300.

If it would cost £150 to cancel, then it would actually be cheaper to order a new line at your father's address, and transfer to that - the fee for a new line is normally only £130.
Whether or not you have to pay £130 at the new address in 2 months depends on whether or not it already has a working phone line.  If the line is connected, there's no charge to take it over.

  • Moved into new house

This is the tale of my house moving saga!
Moved into house on the 16th July, previous house owners cancelled there BT line on the same day.
On the Monday I engaged a company called TitanADSL as they were my previous broadband supplier that had stated to me that they could arrange for a new number and give me an all in one package, of which up until then I had no complaints with there service.
I was given a go live date of Tuesday 27th July, On the Tuesday I received a phone call telling me that there was no spare capacity at the cabinet! and that a new line would have to be delivered to the cabinet.
Was told this would be done by end of play Wed, Thursday evening another phone call, now this one said that a BT line engineer has ordered a new line but there is not ETA and this could take weeks to resolve.
Has anyone else heard of this? or am I being fed a load of ....... (you can fill in the blanks  )

    This is quite common.
With the network being set up many years ago there are areas where there is a shortage of line plant.
Broadband has made this problem worse as you need an individual line for it to be provided and you can't share the line as with standard PSTN.
It can take weeks or dare I say months for additional line plant to be provided.  It's all to do with the network in your area and the pressure on available lines.
If somebody near to you ceased a line then you could be given that line when it becomes available.

  • Moving to a house thats been repossessed, can get ...

I am moving into a house that had been reposessed.  According to bt speed checker I can not get infinity.  Our house is no 15 and if I check 13 or 17 they both can get infinity.  How is this possible?  Can anyone from BT check the details for me if I PM?
    Regards,
    Richard

I'm not an expert but one single house in a road being unable to get Infinity does sound like a very unlikely scenario, especially if it's in the middle of the street.    Calling them up sounds like the best move to resolve this.   You'll need to get the telephone line activated before you can have Infinity anyway, so you might as well get started.

  • Moving home but not moving into house straight awa...

     Hi
I am moving out of rented accommodation soon and will not be moving into my new house straight away. I currently have a phone/broadband/vision package that has been running for 6 months. I can't find any paperwork from BT to say how long my contracts are set for. My question is can I cancel the services at my old address and then wait a month or so before having them put on at my new address (while still paying)? (although I would like to cancel Vision as we have not watched it for 4 months). If not I am going to have to cancel all the services and I would not like to know how much that will be.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
      Cheers

The early termination charges are here: http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/dynamicmodules/pagecontentfooter/pageContentF...
You'd have to add up all the charges for each of the services.

  • Moved into house with bt line, Previous owners ter...

Hi, I own my house and have just moved in. It would seem that the previous owner terminated his contract with BT 3 days after moving out of the property! This cancelled our request with Orange to adopt the line but it goes in the system and you only find out that our request is cancelled after 10 days. So now it is the 12th of November and we want a line with Orange Why do I have to wait for BT to have a month of bogus cancellation of that line when I own the property and would never use BT since I was stung as a student some 18 years ago. What have the previous owners got to do with me? Surely BT you have nothing to do with and should just give up blocking my line?
Why penalise me I didnt enter into a contract with you.
Maybe someone can reply as to whether this is the same for other phone companies that you have to wait 28 days blah de blah to get your own line available. Can someone confirm that this is normal procedure for all phone companies or are BT trying to force themselves onto me?
Wow -35 day wait for phone line another 10 days for broadband . Its just as well I dont run a business, oh I forgot yes I do.
    Many thanks for any responses.
I may sound Irrate but it is only the library atmosphere seeping through into this email.

Hi it is a standard practice to have a cancellation period really it is the fault of the previous owners as they should have given BT notice a month ago not 3 days before they left as technically the line is still there's until the notice period expires There is nothing any one here can do to help you speed up the process as you are not a BT customer

Adding media directly to the media folder does not make it appear in the library.  iTunes doesn't really 'look' at that folder except to go to specific files when you call upon them from a library. You have to drag new content to each user's library, that is assuming each user has their own library.

I have no idea whether there is a causal relationship but since moving to Lion and iCloud, my iMac has become so unresponsive that I wind up having to crash and restart most of the time.  This is true regardless of the app I am using at the time.
The specs of this iMac are:
iMac 27 inch, late 2009 model with a 3.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 Gig 1067 Mhz DDR3, using OSX Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
I have Mackeeper installed and according to the scans I have run, everything is fine. No virus, no junk files . . . no problems at all . . .
Except that for all practical purposes, my computer isn't working.
I am nearly totally deaf and live in an isolated, rural area of NW Missouri and this computer is what I mainly rely on to contact friends, relatives and business associtates!
Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive may be failing.
If you have more than ten or so files or folders on your Desktop, move them, temporarily at least, somewhere else in your home folder.
If iCloud is enabled, disable it.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable. Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
    Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out before posting.

+You may have already done this, but do you have the first AirPort Express configured to "Allow this network to be extended"?+
Could not find that setting anywhere.
It's in AirPort Utility, AirPort panel, Wireless tab.
When I'm within the range of the base station I connect normally, but further away the connection drops despite the fact that the other Airport is very close and light is green. Interestingly, my PB Pro has signal almost everywhere in the house, but my iPhone and Mac Mini don't. Most likely just a hardware difference?
In AirPort Utility with the second Express, in the AirPort panel, Wireless tab, have you checked "Allow wireless clients"?
The second AP does show an IP address: 10.0.1.3.
With a "Configure IPv4" setting of "Using DHCP", that suggests that the second Express really is connecting to the first Express. In that case I have no other explanation of your your problem.

  • CTE into temp table

I have query with many CTE:
;WITH CTE AS(...), CTE1 AS(....), CTE2 AS (...), CTE3 AS(...)
    CTE4 AS(...), CTE5 AS(...), CTE6 AS(...), CTE7 AS(...), CTE8 AS(...), CTE9 AS(...), CTE10 AS(...), CTE11 AS(...)
SELECT * FROM CTE9 INNER JOIN CTE11 ON....
The last select works 3 minutes, but until CTE11 everything works in 1 second.
Is it possible to store CTE9 and CTE11 into temp table? (the same select form temp tables would execute immediately)
CTE9 and CTE11 has inside access to previous CTE's, so I can't break the query before CTE11 unless I create every CTE as temp table.

"I think it is too fragile."
If I store in physical table instead of temp table than if server go down, at least I will
    have my data stored.
And it is not critical if this records are not available in main table for some time.
It could be solution, but requires some maintenance work in case server goes down or any other
    uncatchable error .
But i guess I will just disable escalation.
My problem is quite simple. I have table "dbo.Stock" where is stock of products in warehouse. Lets say 1 million of products with some quantity. Each quantity of product has some ownership.
    For example: i have quantity 1000 of product A. 500 quantity belongs to company1, 300 to company2 and 200 to company3.
Then at some time, I have to rearrange the ownership of lets say 200000 products(20%). (could be any number, more or less).
Until new ownership is not known, this stock should not be available for any operation - so, it is no problem, if this stock doesn't exists in table "dbo.Stock" at calculation time. But for other stock(800.000 products) all operations must be available.
So, i move(delete) this 200.000 products out of stock table and calculate ownership. This calculation
runs for 10 minutes. Then I move this stock back to the table(PK of most of the records is different now, so couldn't be update anyway).
Can you image that this table is locked for 10 minutes and it is very frequent one? Everything would stop for 10 minutes and i will get fired :)
What function? Do you have some description? I'm curious, maybe get some idea :)
    Thanks,
    Simon

  • Moved into New Build in August - still no phone li...

I know from reading various forums online that ours is not a unique problem but I'm not sure how it can be resolved. In a nutshell we moved into our new build home at the beginning of August. Once we had received confirmation of the completion date I placed my order with BT for a new phone line. I was advised that it would probably be easier to sort out the phone first and then add on broad band when that was done. My order was placed on 31 July. I was told an engineer would attend on 20 August to connect us up. So far so simple but then it all goes wrong. I check online and the engineer should be with me between 8 and 1. That's all fine. I'm working but my husband will be in as he is on a late shift. Come 12.30 no sign of the engineer and now my husband is concerned that if the engineer does show up, he will need to leave for work before the work is done. I call BT from work - I'm told that the engineer is en route but that he's been delayed. My husband and I therefore agree that I will leave work at lunchtime and be in should the engineer arrive in the afternoon. I call up again in the afternoon - I'm told that there is no engineer en route, I should never have been told that. The connection is delayed because of some outstanding works that need to be done. Thus begins the series of lies and untruths that lead us here. I am told time and time again that works will be done by X date, only to receive a text message telling me that it is not possible to provide the update and that BT will contact me again in due course. Then begins the passing of blame - BT tell me that my developer hasn't completed all the ground works, my developer tells me they have and that it is Open Reach who are delaying. This goes on for many weeks and many phone calls. Eventually I'm told that there is to be a meeting between my site manager and Open Reach on the site on Monday 28 October. Surprise surprise Open Reach fail to attend. Not only that, but they they refuse to reschedule despite requests from the site manager. There is clearly a communication issue here - my developer tells me they have done all they need to do. They are therefore not going to do anything else as they don't know what they need to do. The meeting would at least (one hopes) have cleared that up. I have called BT today and been told that a site surveyor is attending our site on Friday but it seems no one has bothered to tell the site manager (obviously I have passed this on and asked him to call to check arrangements).
So here we are many weeks on and still no phone line. I don't feel like I am getting any sort of proper answer from BT about what the issue is and of course Open Reach won't deal with me direct.
Given the number of discussions about this on various forums, does anyone have any advice or tips on how to resolve this. I know it seems like a small issue but it is starting to impact on us. For example we had some bad news in August that required making numerous overseas calls which we had to make on our mobiles. It really is beyond a joke now and I cannot see that it will be resolved this year!

  • Moved into new flat

I've recently moved into a new flat. The previous tenants were with BT and as far as I can tell, they moved out fairly recently. I've attached a landline phone and there's still a dialtone, but I can't make outside calls. I want to take over the phoneline and had hoped that it would be quite a simple process, but this doesn't seem to be the case!
-The first person I called said I needed a completely new phone line installed and it would cost me £170 (unless I took a broadband deal and an 18-month contract, neither of which I'm that eager to do).
-The second person I called said they can reactivate the phone line, but that this would require an engineer visit, and it would cost me £30. I made it clear at the beginning of the call that as I'm working full-time and living alone, I could only really have a visit at the weekend. We went through the very lengthy process of making the order, then after I'd given my bank details, he mentioned that there were no weekend slots available at all, ever. I asked if the engineer would certainly need access to my property, because I'd read on the website that this is something that's not automatically required, especially if there's no damage to the line and there's a dialtone. He couldn't really give me an answer on that, and said there's no guarantee that he won't need access to the property.
All a bit of a mess really! I basically only want broadband, I'm not too fussed about a landline. I'm quite confused about the whole thing too, as it seems that the account was stopped but the phone line has not yet been deactivated. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? Preferably something not involving engineer visits, as I'm not keen on taking time off during the week!

If they were with BT, then line activation normally is done via software, and no visit is needed.
You can find out the number by dialling 1470 17070. If its a BT number then a voice will read it out to you.
You can tell BT the number, and they should be able to activate it for you, once credit checks have been done.
They may have had a BT line, but paying another provider for their calls. If that is the case, then it may take a bit longer.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • Moving to new House

I am moving into a new house. I have been a ATT customer for over 7 years now and have all the equipment needed at my new house. Why do I have to wait two weeks to activate the account? Everything is plugged in and ready to roll it's just active on the ATT side and they won't activate until a rep comes out to the house.

They need to check the condition of the wiring, run a direct cable from the outside terminal to the location of the AT&T router, wire your connection at the VRAD to your house, check the speed at the house, then connect everything and test for proper operation.
