Moving only SP 2010 SSRS integration to a different SQL server

Fairly self-explanatory. I have a SP 2010 farm that is currently set up to use SQL Server 'A' in integrated mode for Reporting Services. I have a new SQL server 'B' (same ver) that is also set up in SP integrated mode for RS. I want to simply stop using
SSRS 'A' and start using SSRS 'B.'
I'm unclear how best to do this. Do I simply go into the Reporting Services Integration in Central Admin and enter the new information? Or do I choose 'add a server to the integration' to add server 'B' and then somehow drop server 'A'? Do I need to physically
migrate any databases?
This has nothing to do with any content or SP databases - I simply want to move the SSRS integration.

What i think, you have to manually migrate the reporting DBs to new server. then update the information into the Central admin.

Turns out it is even easier than that. As long as the SQL Server has been prepped accordingly by:
Installing RS in SP integrated mode
Installing same version of SP on the SQL Server running RS
Joining the SQL RS Server to the existing SP farm
Then the solution is to simply re-run the Reporting Services Integration at General Application Settings > Reporting Services/Reporting Services Integration.
Make sure you perform the setup in the same authentication mode (Windows or Trusted Account) and it should work seamlessly.

You need to copy your jar to ${AS_INSTALL}/domains/domain1/lib/ext (replace domain1 by your
domain). Another option is to leave the jar in ${AS_INSTALL}/lib and add a entry in the classpath-suffix element of your domain.xml.

  • SSRS report through data subscription - Connect to 2 different SQL server DB for excel attachment in EMail Deliery

I need to connect to 2 different SQL server without creating linked server for generating report. Is it possible in SSRS 2008 report service?

    Yes possible
You would just required created two data sources which points to both your SQL Servers. And inside report you can create datasets based on each of these data sources to retrieve and display the data from them. In cases where you would require merging the
data from both the systems you can use functions like Lookup, LookupSet etc. Reports created in SSRS can be rendered in a variety of formats like Excel, PDF, CSV etc

  • Using integrated security to access SQL Server database

    Hi,
Currently we are using username/password combination to log in to a SQL Server database. These varaiables are defined as environment variables.
For security reasons we now want to use integrated security of the SQL Server database. This way the connection will be with the NTUser the Nodemanager has been started with.
Can this be done in Fort?

I do not think there is a way to pass the NT user's security authentication over to the DB in UDS.

  • Sharepoint 2013 not installed yet, so should I install Sharepointg Integrated mode on my SQL server right now?

    I'm installing SQL 2008 R2 onto a Windows 2008 R2 server in preperation for a Sharepoint 2013 install.
In the midst of the SQL installation here I have the option of installing the Sharepoint Mode Default Configuration.
Should I do this or should I continue installing with native mode dafeult configuration. Then perhaps adding the Sharepoint integration afterwards.
    What would you advise?

You did not mention if you are planning more than 1 server, but best practice would dictate so.
If true, then, do NOT install the SRS components (presume you mean those) on the SQL box.
If you are planning to have BOTH SSRS in Native mode and also a 2nd instance in SharePoint mode, then you "may" elect to install the SSRS Native mode elements on your SQL Server.
You want to install the SSRS instance in SharePoint mode on one of your SharePoint servers.
The requirement for SSRS in SharePoint mode is that it be placed on a SharePoint server.  You have two options:
    1. Make your SQL Server a full fledged SharePoint server in order to use SSRS in SharePoint mode (not recommended)
    2. Setup SSRS on a SharePoint server (recommended)
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks, Eric S. Pcubed

  • Schedule a SSRS report as step in SQL SERVER agent

    Hi All,
The requirement is that can we schedule a job as a step in SQL Server Agent.
Scenario: I got a SQL Agent job which got multiple steps. Executing SP's, running SSIS etc. The last setp i want to setup is run a SSRS report where it gives the report of all the steps. It is like a summary report.
Is that is possible. If so hw can i achieve it.
    Thanks in advance.

You can use rs utility to render reports using below script file
    http://skamie.wordpress.com/2010/08/11/using-rs-exe-to-render-ssrs-reports/
and call rs utility from bat file or using xp_cmdshell.
Then include this script as last step in your job.

  • Management Studio Fails when added Integration Services step to SQL Server Agent Job

    Hi,
I have two new servers I've setup with Windows Server 2012, SQL Server 2012 SP1, Visual Studio 2012 SP4. I've previously been on SQL 2008 and VS 2008 so this is new to me.
I am finding SSMS is throwing an exception on both machines when i do the following:
    1. Go to SQL Server Agent | Jobs
    2. Create a new Job.
    3. Select Steps and click New Step
    4. Change the job type to SQL Server Integration Services Package.
    Following error occurs:
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
The type initializer for '<Module>' threw an exception. (SqlManagerUI)
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The C++ module failed to load.
     (DTEParseMgd)
Index was outside the bounds of the array. (DTEParseMgd)
I also find if I take an existing job with SSIS package steps and attempt to edit those steps the same message appears. This issue happens on both my servers as they have been configured almost identically. This doesn't occur when selecting any other job
    type.
I've also tried installing cumulative update 8 in a hope that this may fix it but with no success.
As my entire environment is based around SQL Agents running SSIS i'm a little bit concerned, especially since I have some tight deadlines getting these servers running.
I have found nothing relating to this issue. Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
I hadn't installed CU3 however as a test i tried installing CU4 and this didn't help. Since my first emails i have more issues that have brought a complete hault to the upgrade project.
If i double click on a package to run it manually I basically get the same issue. This means i have no way of running any packages except throught VS.
I've also found that regardless of the order of the software installs it still fails. It's related to SP1 of SQL and SP4 of VS.
I'm on Server 2012. When install in the following order SQL 2012, SQL SP1, VS2012, BIDS, VS SP4 i have no problem until VS SP4 is installed. If i install VS SP4 then BIDS it also fails at the last step. If i install all the VS and BIDS software first, then
SQL then SQL SP1 it fails at the SQL SP1 step.
This means i could actually install everything and either ignore the SQL SP1 or the VS SP4 and i'd be fine however this is not really a solution as i will never be able to patch the software and once live this is very dangerous.
I am still surprised there is no obvious solution to this. I'm only installing MS software on a fresh box and only installing 5 pieces of software (including the SPs). I would have though if this was an issue others would have come across it too.
Has anyone else installed all these components and got them working on the same OS. I believe early on in my testing i installed these in Windows Server 2008 and didn't have the issue.
    Regards.

  • Vb 2010 data source configuration wizard and sql server 2012

I am having a problem using the Data Source Configuration Wizard in vb 2010 express to connect to a remote SQL server database. The weird thing is that I can connect to it just fine if I manually dimension the sqlcommand, sqlconnection and set up the sql
connectionstring. So I know the connectivity is possible, but I would like to use the functionality of the Data Source Configuration Wizard.
Here's what happens when I attempt to add a connection via the Database Explorer:
I only get two SQL Server options. Neither will let me connect to a remote database.
I know that Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 isn't what I want, but I have tried it anyway. It will only let me connect to a database on my computer. An 'ActiveSync' option is greyed out.
Microsoft SQL Server Database File would appear to be what I want, but when I select this option, it informs me (as you can see) that this will only work for a local database:
The connection string that I build manually (and which works) looks like this:
    Dim
    myConn
    As
    NewSqlConnection(sConnect)
    sConnect =
    ""Data Source=xxxxxx.xxxxxx.com;Server=""Xxxx XXX Database"";Initial Catalog=StockAnalysisProd;User
    ID=cadietz;Password = "& sPW &
I have attempted all variation of this string in the database file name input box to no avail. I think it really should go in as a Data Source but those are hard wired and cannot be changed. I'm sure I'm doing something stupid, but I need someone
to point out what it is. Thanks in advance for your help...
    Alex3764

    Alberto... thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately this does not appear to work. I downloaded Visual Studio Express for the Web (2012) and attempted the 'work around' proposed by Sergey and I could not make it work on the remote server. I have given up on the Data Connection Wizard and
am simply connecting to my remote SQL server using the manual classes (SqlConnection, SqlCommand, SqlDataAdapter, etc.). The moderator has marked this as an answer but I'm going to unmark it.
I am now even more frustrated because I now find that I cannot connect to my LOCAL SQL database using the Data Connection Wizard and the circumstances are even weirder. Here's what happens:
I open the Add Connection window, select 'Microsoft SQL Server Database File (SqlClient)' as the data source.
I then browse to my local database file in the Database file name input box. When I click the 'Test Connection' button I get a message box that informs me: 'Test connection
    succeeded'. Voila!
But, alas, when I close the message box and click OK on the Add Connection window I get this message: 'The ability to open this connection is not supported in this edition of Visual Studio'.
I mean this borders on the absurd. Why is the Data Connection Wizard even offered with VB 2010 Express if you can't use it for anything. Once again I can get around the problem manually but I'm getting very frustrated with MS. Any suggestions??

  • Moving site page from Dev to production - DVWP from SQL server datasource

    Hey everyone
I have seen a lot of resources online about something similar to my issue but nothing came to concrete help (content is old or not quite relevant) so I appreciate some help.
    situation
    - used SP designer 2013 to develop webpart site page
    - Defined datasource to SQl server database connection
    - Inserted dataview to the page based on SQL datasource
Now I want to move the page from dev to prod. I created the datasources on prod same as DEV
When I took the code of the pages on DEV and used on PRod , I had this error
Web Part Error: An error has occurred. Correlation ID: 9baf979c-1607-3081-07b4-a7577a8956bd.
Searching showed that this is expected because the webpart config is stored in content database and some Guids are involved here. I read somewhere that I can change the guid to name for DataFormWebPart  but that keyword doesn't even exist in the
code (must be for legacy version)
So , how can , easily, move sitepage between sites on different servers? I do not want to redevelop things from scratch.
    Thanks

    Hi Aloha,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to move the site page from Dev to production.
How did you move the page?
If the page only contains the data view web part, then I recommend to export the web part from the page and then move the exported file to production.
After that, add the web part in the new page in production.

    Hello everybody,
I want to integrate a J2EE application with SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. In fact, it is the first time to be involved in developing an interoperability component between .Net web service and Java application. So I have learned for some time how to pass this challenge. Hi,
I have SharePoint 2010 integrated with SQL Server 2008 R2 in my machine. I wanted to use Power View feature, so I went for SQL Server 2012 installation. Now when I try to create the SQL Server Reporting service service application, it says, this feature

The only requirements for SSRS Integrated mode/PowerView are that you're using SharePoint Enterprise and SQL Enterprise/BI and that SharePoint be installed and joined to the farm on the server where you're also installing SSRS.
You need to reconfigure your sharepoint farm farm to use SQL server 2012

  • SQL Server Reporting Services SharePoint Integrated mode - Power View is not supported

    Hi there,
    My environment is the following:
    SharePoint Server 2013
SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise edition
I am getting the following message when trying to open BISM item with PowerView icon:
"The feature: "Power View" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services."
My problem is that the first time I installed SQL Server Reporting Services SharePoint integrated, I used the SQL Server 2012 Standard edition ISO. But then I learned that Power View is only available with Enterprise and BI editions. So I uninstalled Reporting
Services Add-in from Control Panel, Reporting Services from the installation media and deleted the three Reporting DBs in the SharePoint DB server.
Then I used SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise media to install again Reporting Services but not sure why I am still getting the message:
"The feature: "Power View" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services."
Anyone can advice me what could be the problem? Maybe I have not complete deleted  the previous SQL Server Reporting Service Share Point integrated mode from the previous installation? What would be the proper way to uninstall Reporting Services?
    Any help will be welcome.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Joss

    Hi  Joss,
I am in the same situation,
SQL Server was installed in the standard mode because of that the powerview option is not working.
I have changed teh edition using maintenance --> upgrade edition. the sql server components like DB engine, SSAS and integration services are now showing in enterprise edition. The reporting services are installed from the application end still showing
as the reporting services are standard.
we reinstalled the reporting services but still persists the issue.
suggest me is there any work around to fix the issue other than reinstalled the whole SQL Server.
    Thanks

  • Sharepoint Foundation 2010 compatibility with SQL Server 2014

Due to a requirement to use Sharepoint without Active Directory access.  I am trying to find explicit confirmation whether Sharepoint Foundation 2010 is compatible with SQL Server 2014.  I have seen that Sharepoint Server 2010 and 2013 are compatible
with SQL Server 2014 as of CU 1 (released in April).  But there is no mention of Sharepoint Foundation.
This chart is great except it doesn't mention whether the Foundation versions are supported.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492257.aspx
    Thanks.

Note that that is for the Reporting Services component, but not necessarily for the SQL Database Engine component (which comes from the SharePoint Product Group, rather than the SQL Product Group). I haven't seen any confirmation that SharePoint 2010 is
supported at all with SQL 2014 as a Database Engine.

  • Best practice for auditing a SP 2010 BCS scenario with a SQL Server pooled connection.

I'm using SP 2010 BCS to connect to a SQL Server db. For this, I've used SSS and am passing SQL credentials to take advantage of pooled connections. I'd like to pass the user context (user ID/User name) to the database so that I can do auditing, such as
created by and last modified by. What is the best approach to make this work while still using a pooled connection?
I've thought about modifying the external list forms so that I capture and pass down user context info, however, I'd like not to rely on this in case the external content type is consumed by another consumer such as an Office product, etc.

    Hi,
There is no good way to do it.
You can set the created by and modified by columns as input parameters for the create and update operations and using ajax to set values for both of columns.
