MS Word 2010 and BI publisher

Is BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 suppose to be able to work with MS Word 2010. I get an error that macros are not enabled which others had alluded to and then tried to go back to Word 2007. Is there an upgrade or patch available to work with Word 2010?

Finally figured out what is the root cause of this issue is. This is caused by one of the Microsoft's windows security update that installs VBA runtime file, which is supposed to fix a VBA vulnerability but caused third party softwares (plug-in) stop working! Yes, this third party software in this case is the Template Builder.
Here is the detail of the MSFT update patch.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;932349
Basically what we need to do is to delete '.exd' files, which have been invalidated by the update, then refresh them by restarting the Word again. In my case, I found one file under C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\Forms so deleted it, then restarted Word, now it's all working.
Let me know if this would address your issue.

When I save a document in Microsoft Word 2010 and then open it, I am unable to read it because it is gibberish with all kinds of symbols and numbers.  I understand it has something to do with Adobe Reader.  Has anyone else had this problem and how do I correct it?

Put your cursor on the icon of one of your scanned documents. Click on the right button of your mouse. In the list that will appear, put your cursor on Properties and click on the left button of your mouse. In the window that you'll get, read and make a note of what you see next to "File type" and "Opens with". Then post here what you saw.

I am attempting to print a number of DL size envelopes using Word 2010 and Excel 2010 on a HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer in Operating system Windows 7. Using the mail merge facility the printer reports a paper mismatch. Word does not appear to have envelope DL size in its list of paper sizes only something called envelope #10. The Print driver software when I run out of stationery asks me to load more stationery and hit the OK button.

    1. How do I add envelope DL size to Word 2010

  • Hebrew typing problem in Word 2010 and 2013 in Windows 7 64bit

    Hello,
When I am trying in Word (2010 and 2013 32bit installation) to edit a line (inserting a new word for instance in the middle of the line) or start a new line in RTL or LTR Hebrew paragraph I must first type the SPACE char and then to type any other letter. When
I try firs to type a regular letter it is not typed.
It happens only if the Word is installed on a Windows 7 professional 64bit version on my HP 8570p laptop. I formatted the laptop and installed the same OS but 32bit, installed the Office 2010 and the Word works perfect in any language. I formatted the Laptop
again, re-installed again the 64bit OS, installed the Office 2010 again and same symptom - cant type Hebrew letters if not starting with SPACE. If I try to edit the same paragraph with English letters it works OK. When I start a new line with English letters
it works OK. It seem that this symptom happens when the type direction is right-to-left (after ALT-right SHIFT stroke).
This symptom is only in Word. In PowerPoint, in Excel or any other Office application it works fine.
When using Word 365 (not installed localy even I have a local Word 2013 installation) the Hebrew typing is working fine.
I didn't change the default setting options of the Word not after installing the 32bit OS nor the 64bit OS.
I prefer to use the 64bit OS and not the 32bit OS so I do not consider moving to 32bit OS.

  • PDFMaker (Acrobat XI) add-in causes Word 2010 and Word 2013 to crash

I'm still suffering the same issue. I am also running Word 2010 SP2.
My brother installed on his system which is Windows 7, Office 2010 and it works fine.
I have now gone back to Actobat X and it's working.
The issue doesn't occur in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.
Adobe have not been helpful at all. I am seriously getting the mind of asking for my money back.

  • Headings to Bookmarks - w Word 2010 and Acrobat Pro 9

So Adobe decided to rip us off by denying a fix for the Acrobat Pro Ribbon in  MS Office 2010 We refuse to take part on their money making scheme and spend loads to upgrade to Acrobat X just for that  (sorry Adobe, try not cheating your customers next time). So we are now unable to use the advanced conversion options once found within MS Office. Grrr again!
We are working with CS5 with Acrobat 9, all properly updated. With that:
    - is there any hidden setting or trick that would allow converting Word headings into bookmarks automatically when converting Word documents? It doesn't matter where I start (from Word or from Acrobat) as long as the result is the same
    - is there any third-party add-in/plug in that enables the functions we lost with the missing ribbon? Such as options to convert those headings to bookmarks, endnote/footnote links to link in the PDF and so on?
    Thanks in advance!

    You have three choices:
    1. Add the bookmarks in the PDF by hand.
    2. Go back to OFFICE 2007.
    3. Upgrade to AA X.
Keep in mind that OFFICE 2010 came out after AA 9 that is 2 years old, the basic revision cycle for Acrobat. MS added some major changes that required Adobe to do a major rewrite on AA X to get PDF Maker to work. Call it a money making scheme if you like. One could also look at MS actions that cause problems for other products that work with OFFICE. In fact, one almost suspects that MS puts hooks in their software to mess up competing technology. This has never been proven and may be false, but it is an alternate scenario. In any case, the three choices mentioned are your only alternatives. My understanding is that Adobe has no plans to update AA9 to resolve this problem with OFFICE 2010. This has been a know problem since the release of OFFICE 2010 and it took Adobe some time to even fix AA X to meet the need.
If you are not willing to buy AA X, your best solution is to move your systems back to OFFICE 2007.

  • Graphic issues in Word 2010 and 2013

The problem is it reformats your original image to fall within this shape below. Everything within that triangle is white and your original image only shows through the remaining part of the oval. I have attached a Word document with a few examples. It cuts
off part of the logo, signatures, etc.
So far, we have found this occurring in 2 situations:
    1. .docx is generated in third party application. We open this in Word 2003 and save as .doc. Then if that .doc is then opened by someone else using Word 2010 or 2013, it has this issue.
    2. The other situation was just a .doc created (outside of the third party application) that is used as a VBA component. If they open that .doc in Word 2013 it has this issue but other .doc files are fine.
One other note, we can open these files in Word 2003 and 2007 and the images look fine. It only happens when opening in Word 2010 or 2013.
Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions? I have tested both .tif & .jpg to see if the original image format made a difference and it doesn’t appear to. Unfortunately, it’s impacting tens of thousands of Word docs stored in archive.
I don't see where I could upload a file, but I do have example documents.
    Thanks,
    Dawn

    Hi Dawn:
After testing from myside, I found if you
change the picture format, it will fix the display issue. You can
manually changing the format of the Graphic: select the graphic->select format tab on the Ribbon->change to any format you want. You can also
use VBA code to change the format of the picture, for detailed information you can refer to
    This article.
Below are some findings for your reference.
I checked the documents you sent to me, as the issue occurred when if the file saved as .docx or opened with word 2010/2013, so I zipped the file and compared the xml files, I found something
might be the cause of this issue.
The pictures in media folder were all fine no missing parts even for those ones displayed wrongly in Word.
I compared the document.xml file under ….\Graphic issue\Issue.docx\word(where I stored the zip file), I found the documents.xml of issue.docx file has section called <a:custGeom>………
</a:custGeom>, which contains data like below,  maybe it’s inherited from the design tool, somehow, change formatting can get rid of the custGeom. So we suggest you change the format of
    the picture.

custGeom (Custom Geometry)This element specifies the existence of a custom geometric shape.

  • Taskbar Jumplist anomalies for Word 2010 and Excel 2010

I am having problems with missing jumplists for Office 2010 products (Word and Excel) pinned on the Windows 7 taskbar, **BUT** have no problems with jumplists for Notepad and IE pinned on the taskbar.
Observation 1: I just upgraded from Office 2010 Starter to full Office 2010 by getting a product key. Full Office 2010 was installed on my laptop when I purchased it but only Starter was licensed. Full Office 2010 was unusable until the upgrade. I suspect
the leapfrog from Starter to full Office 2010 might have a part in this jumplist issue.
Observation 2: I can see from a DOS prompt that the AutomaticDestinations and CustomDestinations folders exist under Recent. However, from Windows Explorer I cannot see the 2 folders under Recent. (That may be a clue…if other people CAN see the 2 folders
    from Windows Explorer.)
Observation 3: In DOS, I can see that both directories have files ending in -ms. I can also see updates (new files with fresh timestamps) from opening Word and Excel files in those 2 directories. It’s almost like Word and Excel don’t understand to go look
in those 2 directories after the Office upgrade, even though Windows 7 (?) generates the -ms files for the jumplist function.
Observation 4: Again, no problems with Notepad and IE jumplists. I can remove the files from the AutomaticDestinations folder and cause Notepad to have no jumplist items, and then restore them and Notepad has jumplist contents again.
Observation 5:  I had no problem using jumplists with Word Starter and Excel Starter.  All references to Office/Word/Excel Starter are now gone from the Starter button and All Programs - sent to Recycle bin.  I deleted the Word Starter
and Excel Starter entries when I upgraded, but I just deleted the Microsoft Office Starter (Englisgh) entry under All Programs today...I thought it was a benign entry and wouldn't hurt since I wasn't using it.  Maybe there's some corruption in registry
as a result of the mixture.  Interestingly, I can drag a file created in Word Starter to the taskbar and it will try to pin it to the Word Starter taskbar "ghost" that's in the Recycle bin.
Any clues anyone?  I have no large files in the two destination folders, and have only about 20 files total in each folder...far fewer than the 999 threshhold mentioned in one of the updates for Office 2010.
    Thank you!

I encountered exactly the same problem, and under exactly the same circumstances as the original poster (upgraded from Office Starter to Home and Business; jump lists worked fine in Starter, then stopped working for Excel and Word after upgrading).
Like the original poster, none of the various fixes found online corrected the problem, nor did re-installing Office.
I also tried what was suggested by Max Meng and created a new User Account. The problem occurred for the new account, just as it did with the old one.
After about 6 hours of fighting, I have finally solved the problem.  The solution is not easy, fast or pretty.
What I did was uninstall Office (again) using the Control Panel. Then I ran a FixIt utility found here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 (method 2)
My hope was that this would do additional registry clean-up.  I knew from earlier attempts that this alone would not fix the problem, though.
Despite uninstalling twice, there were still a lot of references left in the registry to "Word Starter" and "Excel Starter".  Likewise, there were still references to "WINWORDC.EXE" and "EXCELC.EXE", which are the starter versions of the executables.
So I went through the registry using RegEdit, and manually deleted every key which included those strings.  The largest number of cases were file type definitions for various Word and Excel file extensions.  When in doubt, I deleted entire tag
hierarchies for Word and Office file types, figuring that they would be restored when I reinstalled Office.  In the process, I removed pretty much every reference to Word or Excel that I could find in the registry.
I also deleted any directory on my hard drive (in c:\Program Files(x86), c:\Program Data, and c:\Users\<name>\AppData which appeared to be related to Office.
Having done this, I reinstalled again, and the jump lists for Word and Excel now work.
In debugging the problem, I found that .automaticDestination-ms files (which contain the data behind the jump lists) were not being created when I opened Word or Excel documents; they *were* being created when I manually pinned individual files to the
    taskbar, however.
I suspect that this might be due to the long hexadecimal filename being based on a hash of the application name, or what the system thinks is the application name based on the file type.  Removing the references to "Word Starter" and "Excel Starter",
and the corresponding WINWORDC.EXE and EXCELC.EXE in the registry might have cleared up this problem.
Obviously this fix is potentially risky, and should only be attempted if you are comfortable editing the registry. Making a full system backup beforehand would be a wise precaution.  For this specific case, however (broken jump lists after
upgrading from Starter to full Office) it would appear the only alternative is a clean install of Windows (to wipe the registry completely).

  • Mouse not working in Word 2010 and Outlook 2010

    Hi
My setup is: Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Office pro 2010
I have a problem where my right click mouse og select text isn't working in Word and Outlook. My keyboard os working fine, and my mouse cursor moves fine, but if I try to select text with the mouse og rightclick to copy/paste something nothing happens. Its
    driving me crazy.
I have searched the web and found some different solutions but none seems to work permanently.
One option is to use Internet Explorer Settings > advanced > Reset to default.
Another is to delete the Word / Data key from Registry editor
Now I can start Word and start typing in a single line...and it works... until I hit enter the first time. then the mouse isn't working again. the same thing happens in Outlook when writing an email.
I have tried running the Office 2010 repair tool with not effect.
Please help - this is driving me crazy
Best regards and feel free to ask you need me to clarify someting or test something.
    Søren B

I have the same problem (Win 7, Office 2010).
Deleted the DATA folder. The mouse works a very short time before the problem reappears.
Renamed the OFFICE folder. The problem remains (no change).
I have no add-ons installed, and have scanned for viruses and malware without finding any. Everything else works fine.
I have done all available updates for both Windows and Office.
I have the exact same problem. I have also noticed that some of the keys do not function the same either. For instance I will get a " instead of an
'@' when I push 'shift' + '2'. I also get a slash or something instead of a '?'. My onenote never has this issue and other programs do not. If I copy and paste into word it copies fine. I end up having to shut down word and start
it back up again if I need to use the mouse on the document. I can use the ribbon fine but on the actual document the mouse stops working after a few seconds or up to a minute. I have run virus scans and everything is fine. This is really getting on my nerves. It
is hard to edit a paper when you can't use your mouse on the doc, especially when using pictures and needing to move them... or even select them.

  • MS Word 2007 and XML Publisher

Is the BI Publisher Client certified with MS Word 2007? If not how soon it will be? And the last one does anyone come across major problems with this combination?
    Tomas

    Tomas -
it isn't certified (at least as of yesterday it wasn't) but I use it b/c unfortunately it is the only version we have licensed.
I have run into problems but don't know if it is related to 2007. Also - a lot of the blogs give directions for 2003 and as you know the menus in 2007 are completely different. It takes some digging around to find the same paths.
Let me know if you are trying to do something specific and I will see if I can answer any questions...although I don't know much!

  • Word 2010 and Adobe Acrobat Pro arent playing together nicely

Adobe keeps giving me an "unexpected error" when trying to convert a pdf from an existing Word 10 document.

I am sick and tired of all the Adobe apologists.  Office 2010 has been in Beta for a year now and Adobe's programmers could not create a Acrobat 9 compatiblity fix? Give me a break!
I spent a fortune on Acrobat Pro Extended only to find out that it has limited compatibility with Office 10 and the bundled Presenter has none.
    What is wrong with Adobe??

  • Creating PDF from Word 2010 and Acrobat X Colors Not Accurate

    I'm puzzled by this one.
When we print the documents directly from Word 2012 the colors print correctly.
When we use the one click button in the ribbon. PNG files convert well, Illustrator EPS files do not. We use a logo that has Pantone Process Blue and it turns aqua.
I have tries many different setting and none convert correctly. I can make nice small files of these brochures for use on the internet, but the color is not good.
If I use the File Print to Acrobat then it converts the colors well, but the files are larger. Trying to reduce the file size as a second step does not change the file size.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Though, I'm unclear at 'when I go to print it, it blows up from about 50KB to 10MB' but could you please check the file size of the PDF soon after conversion? You can find it under File->Properties->General Tab. It shouldn't automatically increase the file size at the time of printing.
Would you be able to attach the file (if it's not confidential)?

  • Smartview 11.1.2.1 and Office 2010 on Citrix error closing word 2010

I have installed Hyperion Smartview 11.1.2.1.0 on a Windows 2008 R2 terminal server (with citrix xenapp 6) with Office 2010 (32 bits).
when i launch Microsoft word 2010 and close it i get the following error: Word cannot save this file because it is already open elsewhere (normal).
does anyone have an idea what this could be? when i disable the smartview add-in i dont get the error.
I use Roaming Profiles for the users.

Smart View and Citrix is a quirky combination. I've observed other strange behaviors in Smart View when using it on Citrix.

  • PDF conversion from Word 2010 incredibly slow and loses format

Just moved onto new laptop with Windows 7 Word 2010
and downloaded Acrobat 9 Pro trial.  Have used Acrobat 8 with Word 2007 and earlier versions with no problems. Now taking half an hour to convert a document and cutting out margins.  Just today I was talking with Adobe tech help and was advised Acrobat 9 is compatible with Word 10.  Any suggestions?

You should be able to print to the Adobe PDF printer, but nothing else probably will work with OFFICE 2010 as Adobe told you. You probably can just wait until AA10. There are no current expectations of AA9 being updated to work with OFFICE 2010 (at least the PDF Maker part.).

  • Word 2010 table rendered reduced, upside down and backwards on conversion to pdf

We have a Word 2010 document that includes a table, header and footer and a title paragraph with a border.
When we convert this to pdf using Word's Acrobat -> Create PDF function, we get this (converting via Print -> Adobe PDF works fine however).
Here is the above at 400% magnification.
I thought I had seen all the curveballs Word 2010 and Adobe Pro X could throw but this is a new one on me. If anyone can tell me how or why the body of this document is reduced to illegibility, positioned at the top left corner of the page, upside down and backwards on pdf conversion I would be forever in their debt. (I have a couple of "accessibility experts" telling me this du to "odd code" and I would very much like to confirm that neither of them could find their own bottom with both hands.)

I am assuming you did this with the Create PDF button. Give the print to the Adobe PDF printer a try and see if you get the same thing. You could also try the MS PDF plugin. MS has done some strange things in OFFICE 2007 and 2010 that cause heartburn for PDF creation. How much is an Acrobat issue, I am not sure -- probably a bit of an issue from both companies.
