MSI P43 NEO-F with Intel core 2 duo E2200 2.2Ghz Virtualization Enabling.

As the topic says i bought some new hardware for a server.
The bios version is 1.2 from 061108 , the intergrated network card doesnt work, but thats not my main problem though.
Im trying to find an option to enable full virtualization support since Xen complains when i try to install a windows machine in opensuse.
I cant for the life of me find an option to enable it, and i guess it has with the version of my bios todo since neither the motherboard or the cpu is old and should support virtualization.
Can someone confirm that a bios upgrade will give me this option? and can i use the upgrade tool in a windows environment instead of the complicated way of booting of a floppy and install the new bios?
/Regards

Hello,
Virtualization Support should be enabled by default.  If you can't find an option in BIOS, there is probably none.
I think the main problem is your processor itself.  In Intel's own naming & classification system, the E2200 is not a "Core 2 Duo" processor, but a "Pentium Dual-Core" processor and none of the Dual-Core Pentium CPUs supports "Intel® Virtualization Technology".  You can look yourself, here:

I want to link all my apple products so I can use icloud with ease but I am running OSX 10.5.8 on a 2008 imac with intel core 2 duo and not sure it's going to be beneficial or compatible. Is my desktop really just an external hard drive alreadt in 5 years? I just purchased a mac book pro 2012 and also have a 3Gs iphone I just want to have a happy apple family ; )

Your computer is compatible with all of those OSes, but may need more RAM to run 10.7 or 10.8. As the RAM requirement is the same for both 10.7 and 10.8, don't bother with 10.7 unless you're using software incompatible with 10.8.

With my MacBook Pro 17" with Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz startup freeze with 10.6.8 - I had problems after several SW upgrades. Startup ends every time in a freeze or a crash, nothing is running, i am not able to type in the password. it starts in beginning with thin colored disrupting lines on the display and this get more and more and than freeze the system.
"Save Boot", startup with shift shows no problems, display is ok, no freeze. So something must new in the video-driver. Is there any driver what I can delete or any new software to help in this issue?

  • Will CS4 Extended work with Intel Core 2 Duo?

Considering purchasing a CS4 Extended for my OS X v10.4.11 with Intel Core 2 Duo, but reading here I need a multicore Intel processor...
There's no way I could make it work with my processor at all?

Since it says it will run on a G5 I imagine it would run on your newer Intel Mac.  I think that's what the "Duo" means - multi core.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core#Core_Duo

Really do not want to load it and find there are issues.
Oh I really not a big tech guy I just want everything to work well.
And I'm just about to purchase a Mac Book Pro as well.
Any thoughts and comments would be appreciated

I also have a 4 year old iMac 24". it is the 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo. I have been running Mountain Lion since it was released, and before that Lion. Runs great. Over the last month I have noticed some slow data transfers from a USB harddrive. But not enough to do any research. I use a USB harddrive for my Time Machine backup and notice no problems or slow transfers while the Time Machine backup runs. My iTunes has its nedia files on a USB harddrive and is used to watch videos, play music and share photos on the AppleTV. I also use Aperture on the iMac to store and manage 20,000 photos.
I have 6 GB of ram, 4GB and 2GB memory sticks. I know it is best to have identical ram sticks but my iMac model cannot run 8GB of ram and I feel 6GB is better than 4GB.
Mountain Lion is a great OS and I am glad I upgraded. It works great with the AppleTV (no airplay but iTunes on the iMac serves up all our music, photos and videos), iPhone, and iPod Touch. Also with my wifes brand new Macbook Pro. All the devices including the iMac can share data on iCloud.

  • Will Lion 10.7.x run on MacBook Pro 17", MacBook Pro 2,1 with Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz ?

Will Lion 10.7.x run on a 63-month old MacBook Pro 17", MacBook Pro 2,1 (2GB RAM) with Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz ?
Currently running Leopard 10.5.8 and about to update to Snow Leopard.

It will run, if that's what you want. I'd think twice though. If you want to try Lion, upgrade your RAM to the max: 4GB's(Apple says 3, but your machine will run 4), however only a little over 3GB's will be able to be addressed(limitation of your computer). IMO, Lion needs a minimum of 4GB's of RAM to function properly. In your case, you'd be a little shy. I'd suggest you go to SL & stay there.

Which iMac?  Which Macbook?   Both have had several model

With that said, I have an early 2009 iMac 24", with 2.66 GHz

  • Can I install Mountain Lion 64-bit over top of 32-bit version installed by mistake.  M/c is 24-inch mid 2007 iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo (64-bit?)

Can I install Mountain Lion 64-bit over top of 32-bit version installed by mistake.  Machine is 24-inch mid 2007 iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo (64-bit?)

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mountain Lion is a full 64-bit operating system. Why do you think Mountain Lion is 32-bit in your computer?
To check that you are definitely using a 64-bit operating system, open Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities) and type:
    uname -a
Then, tell us what you see at the end after RELEASE. If you see i386, you are running a 32-bit operating system. If you see x86_64, you are using a 64-bit operating system. Also, the processor of your Mac is 64-bit

  • Msi gx620 with intel core 2 duo , 2.0ghz, 800 mhz and 2 M cache ????

So this local store is going to get me an MSI GX620 with 2.0 ghz proccessor. It should be available in 3 days.
From what i know, this is supposed to be the Gx 620-018 with the P7350 core 2 duo proccessor because that's the only 2.0 ghz MSI gx620.
BUT the printed paper that has the laptop specifications, which the store clerk gave me, says:
intel core 2 duo , 2.0 ghz , 800 mhz, 2 M cache (does not mention the processor series name...)
bUT THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE because the P7350 has 3 M cache memory and more than 800 mhz...
IT also says that the ram memory is 3gb, which i know it's supposed to be 4 gb.
I'm confused...could it be a rip off, or just a stupid mis-print and wrong info about the the laptop specs from the store clerk???
    Thanks!

This is a user-to-user forum, nobody here works for MSI (that includes moderators and administrators).
What exactly do you expect us to do?  We do not know in which region you live, we do not know the store you have ordered the GX620 in, we do not know where the store is getting the GX620 from (certainly not from MSI, but from another reseller or a distributor (which we don't know) and we do not know the origin and the author of the piece of paper you got in that store nor can we be sure that the info on it is trustworthy.  This is a long list of uncertainities for starters.  All the GX620 that I have seen here come with a P7350, however, that does not mean, that in your area, this has to be the case as well.  Consequently, the only save way (without speculation involved) is to check the notebook itself as soon as it gets to the store.  Without further information we cannot tell you anything else.
    Quote
    I wonder who can???
The store should be able to call its reseller/distributor to check the specs of the GX620 they ordered.  If they are unable or unwilling to do that even though the information on the piece of paper they(!) gave you raises valid questions, the problem you have is obviously with the store, not with us here.  The specifications sheet for a particular notebook model in a particular part of the world should include the exact model name of the processor.  If that is not that case, somebody (the store, the reseller or the distributor) forgot to do its homework and if that was the case, how can anyone in here make up for that?  You could call an MSI distributor in your country to find out what variants of the GX620 they are putting on the market in your region.  However, this is still not as informative as starting the notebook to check directly.
I don't really get what you are so mad about.  You ordered a notebook in a store that is unable to provide you with accurate information about the product it is trying to sell you.  That us not exactly a very understandable reason to get upset in here, just because we can't verify the info you got either.

  • MSI P55 GD80 compatible with Intel COre i7 Extreme 965

hye there, i just wanted to know is the new p55 GD80 fits with intel core i7 extreme 965??..
as far as i concern, p55 mobo compatible with any i5 or i7 board, is that true.?

    The p55 stands for the chipset , so it's a p55 chipset and no x58 chipset ,.
    The p55 is only compatible with cori i5 and core i7 starting with 8... ( 860 , 870) it support only dual channel memory and not triple like the core i7 9... (920 , 940 , 950 965 ,975).
The core i5 and core i7 860 ,870 has the pci-e controller integrated so you have only 1x16 or 2x 8x8  or 1x8 and 2x4 for triple sli in sli or crossfire. The core i7 9.... with x58 chipset have 2x 16 pci-e or 1x16 and 2x8 for triple sli , so for highend multi gpu's the x58 has a advantage and it has triple channel memory , but it is a small advantage.
See here the socket  it support and if it has hyper-treathing or not.
The core i5 750 has no hyper-treathing the core i 7 does, no matter what socket ( 1156 or 1366)

Heres my set up MSI P6N Sli 4 gigs Corsair 800mhz gaming ram intel sl9kn 3.0.6 ghz single core cpu Silver Stone Strider series 700watt psu 2 harddrives 1 250gig ide 1 320 gig sata. A EVGA G4orce 9600Gt 512mb video card. I recently bought a intel core 2 duo e7500. When the e7500 is installed fans spin up but no video. When The sl9kn is installed everything functions normally. I had the e7500 tested and it posts fine in other motherboards but not in my p6n sli. Everything functions normal with the sl9kn. I know this because im using the system to write this post =). I cleared the cmos per the manual and updated the bios as well but still no changes with the e7500(intel) cpu. The e7500 is in the compatability list on the msi site. I am all but convinced this is a compatability issue with something else i have installed. The only thing that was changed was the cpu to the e7500 and nothing else was touched. Since the system functions normally with my old cpu (sl9kn) i have put it back in for now. Any help or ideas on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

If im correct you referring to possibly replacing the socket so the cpu fits the board and the pin count is the same. If so this has already been checked and the cpu fits the board pins and all. Considering the board is only a few months old and the cpu and the board both are socket lga775 the only real difference is the one being used is 65nm and the e7500 is 45nm. The board was designed with core 2 duos in mind wich nearly all of them are 45nm. The board also supports quad cores wich are 45nm. The only other thing I have noticed is my ram is not on the list of modules tested to be ok on the board. The techs where I bought the board were baffled as to why it wont post but if the revision number will help the board version is 1.0 The only other thing left to do is swap ram. As before though everything functions until the cpu is changed. MSI and Intel both have told me the board supports the e7500 even version 1.0
No im not referring to the pins, I know its LGA775.
Im referring to a parts update, extra chip, to make sure 45nm dualcores work.
45nm Quads are not going to work, nor will they ever on this board.
    Read here for cpu compatibiltylist:
    http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=prodcpu2&prod_no=1141&maincat_no=1
The only possibility is to send it in, since your board has revision 1.0
    Read here also:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=123486.msg932471#msg932471
I have the somewhat more expensive version of your board, the P6N SLi Platinum and have the same issue and since the chipset is identical, you also have to upgrade.
This is all due to chipset limitations and thus an NVidia issue, since they provided the chipset, (this said before going to bash/complain/rant about MSI  ).
    Edit:
    This board was made/designed pre 45nm cpu's and made/designed for 65nm cpu's.
Now they are mostly 45nm, when the board was made, 65nm was common and 45nm was still under development.
That you bought the board new, a couple of months ago, doesnt say anything about its production date or about its support for cpu's, it could have been on the shelf for a long time.

  • Problem installating Snow Leopard on old Macbook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo. After creating partition on internal hard disk (Extended Journaled), installation starts but stops at half of the progress bar. Screen asking Restart appears.

    Hello:
I have tried installing Snow Leopard via the installation disc on a Macbook Pro (2007) with an Intel Core 2 Duo, but I the installation has failed more than 5 times.
I have first formatted and partitioned the internal hard disk with Mac Os Extended Journal format.
Once the installation starts, it starts without a problem unti lthe progress bar gest until half completed then a screen asking for a Computer Restart shows up.
It asks to press the power button for some time until it the computer shuts down and then, press again to turn it on.
Once turned on, the installation disc gets readed, the installation screen appears again and asks again to start the whole installation process form the beginning.

Then you have a Hardware Problem.
Your system is Crashing part way through the install and Re-Booting because of the crash.
Could be the drive itself or it could be some other hardware part in your system. Like the RAM.
To check if it is the internal drive connect an External drive to the system by USB and do the install on that external. If the install completes then it more then likely the drive is bad. If it crashes again then it is more then likely some other piece of hardware in your system.
