            WHO'S NEXT?
Every few years or so, the computing
world takes a drastic change - from breaking the GigaHertz barrier
in 1999 to the introduction of Hyper-Threading technology or 64-bit
computing into the consumer desktop space. This time around, the
radical change will take place in your garage, backyard or even in
your secret tree house. Yes! And this is the time and place where
you can start to put your creativity and thoughts to work and
contribute your ideas to shape the future of PCs.
The MSI
Case-Mod Competition is our first ever contest that seeks talented
computer users to showcase their own custom designed PCs.
Contestants will get the chance to show off their “home-made” PC, be
eligible to walk away with some very cool prizes. It doesn't matter
if you're a newbie or expert, the contest is opened to individuals
with a creative mind and those that dare to be different.
            Let the Modding Begin!
          MSI Computer Corp. (“MSI” or

  • MSI GS70 20D Touchpad not working after login when I upgraded to 8.1

Short situation: I upgraded my laptop to windows 8.1, and the touchpad stopped working on the start/desktop screens. I could move it before I logged in, and after it would work for a few seconds, but then it would just stop. An external mouse works just fine, but I still don't want my touchpad not working.
I looked on the MSI USA technical support page, and it said to delete the old drivers for the touchpad and download new ones. I deleted the drives, but every time I try to download the new ones, I get a window that says my touchpad isn't plugged in, and that the drive isn't compatible with my touchpad, which doesn't make sense to me because I looked up my product specifically and tried all three touchpad drivers. None of them worked.
Now I can't use the touchpad at all because I deleted the drivers, so it would seem that the computer doesn't know it has a touchpad because it won't register the touchpad in my devices tab.
Does anyone know what I can do to solve this? Or to at least get the touchpad to register again? I just got this computer for Christmas, I've treated it very well so it hasn't banged up against anything or been dropped or mistreated, so I cannot understand why this is happening. It worked before the 8.1 update, so I'm pretty sure the issue has something to do with that.

UPDATE: So I managed to fix the touch pad by deleting the driver and rebooting, which is weird because I removed the driver completely and never reinstalled it, so the computer shouldn't really know it has a touch pad. But every time I reboot the computer after fixing it, the touch pad goes back to it's old problem and I need to redelete and reboot all over again.
Also, My computer has begun to randomly freeze and not respond to anything, with one such event leading to a blue screen with a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR message. The computer has frozen a total of 6 times, at different moments; when I'm typing on microsoft word, at the login screen, even right when it starts up and the msi loading screen is up. 5 of these times have required a forced shut down, the first time the computer shut off on it's own because it ran out of battery power.
Finally, my computer has begun to periodically for long stretches of time stopped detecting wireless networks and is asking to be plugged into an ethernet cable to connect to the internet. This has never happened to me before, and I know I haven't turned off my network sharing center.
I'm not sure why this is all suddenly happening. It's not like I'm banging my laptop against walls. I'm very careful when I move and use my GS70, so these problems are greatly concerning to me because I just got this computer at Christmas.

  • Beware MSI website redirection

If you are trying to access www.msi.com in order to check on and download newer bios or utility files for your AMD motherboard (any motherboard, apparently), please note that *this morning* I discovered that all requests for www.msi.com are being redirected to us.msi.com, a site which only features a download for Live Update and nothing else.  Not even Firefox 30's anti-redirection feature will prevent it; nor will cleaning out recent browser history.  (IE 11 gave the same result.) I had to do a Bing search for  just plain "msi.com" before finding a link to the International site, then I had to drag the link into my bookmarks before I was able to access the International MSI site again (through the link.)  The address is now msi.com/index.php  (no "www").
This gets weirder:  if I simply try and type in msi.com or www.msi.com into the browser's address bar, I am now always redirected to the us.msi.com site!  The *only* way I can get to the International MSI site is to click the bookmark!...  This will take me to the main page and to the bios and files pages for my AM3+ motherboard (G46), which is located on the...www.msi.com website!  Lol...
If MSI would simply mirror the International site on the us site, I'd have no problem with going to the us.msi.com site.  But I need to check the International site because the US site doesn't host the individual bios and utility files for my MSI motherboards...
Prior to this morning I had been able to access the www.msi.com site directly and without redirection to the us.msi.com site.  I have a feeling that MSI does not intend to make it more difficult for us in the US to access the global site, but nevertheless that seems to be the outcome.  Anyway, just Bing the location and drag the bookmark/favorite into the appropriate place, and anyone else afflicted with this problem can also access the International site to get at the individual files you may need.  Just thought I'd mention this...

Just checked and have had no problems with my bookmarking and selection of MSI Europe, MSI Global, or MSI USA. No redirection was taking place. That was with Internet Exploder 11.
It's still redirecting me.  Of course, I now use the correct links as indicated above.  http://msi.com/index.php takes me to the Global site; www.msi.com redirects me to us.msi.com  (the redirection happens for me with FF30 & IE 11)  Haven't the foggiest idea why this started happening...  At least I have the correct links now!
I'm glad it isn't happening on your end...it only recently started happening to me...

  • MSI A88XM Gaming mate with the Athlon X4 860K

    Hi MSI Global Forum,
I am the proud owner of a MSI Gaming A88XM, had been an AMD A10-7850K on the base, which I have now sold and ordered an AMD Athlon X4 860K! When can we expect an official BIOS update for the motherboard or is not absolutely necessary?
The german support didn't answered my question since one week!

    Hi,
Sadly we get no info about this sort of thing. The only way you can get an answer is to contact MSI.
You've tried MSI-Germany, but I see that your English written language is pretty good, so you can try contacting MSI USA and Canada. Or other country that English or German is in use. Finally you will receive an answer

  • S3 sleep state issue (MSI K8T Neo2 FIR)

    Hi,
CPU load is too high (about 80-95%) all the time after the system waked up from S3 sleep state. This is dramatically decreasing system performance.
    My configuration is:
    MSI K8T Neo2 FIR mainboard
    CPU Athlon64 3000+ (Venice rev. E6)
    AGP GeForce 6600GT VGA card
    Creative SB Live! series
    WinXP SP2

    Wild-Robot,
The following link was suggested to me, since I wondered if my problems might have needed a bios update.  The board I have is a 754, thouugh, not a 959, so I would have been suspicious of using this update, anyway.  Then Tiresmoke mentioned that the new update addresses a sleep state (S3) issue.  Might that help your situation?  I would n't know, but it may be worth a look:
MSI Germany published Version 9.3 for K8T Neo2-F(IR):
    http://www.msi-computer.de/produkte/main_idx_view.php?Prod_id=402&Seite=BIOS
That Version cannot yet be found at MST TW or MSI USA.

    Tiresmoke then mentions:
    Well Babblefish translation tells me that this;
Behebt Probleme mit der CPU Auslastung nach dem aufwachen aus dem Standby Modus (S3)
    is saying this;
Problems with the CPU extent of utilization repairs after that wakes up from the Standby mode (S3)
So nasically is has something to do with the S3 standby mode issues. As I do not use any standby mode I have not seen any issues. If you have had any then you may want to give it a try but they don't say they fixed anything else so if you are like me and not having any issues you may want to give this one a pass.
    Hope that helps.

    BIOS for K8N Neo2 MS-7025 1C3 .
Custom version rev.1 has non working HT 3.5x/4.5x multipliers .
Wasn't aware of it but they both defaults to 5x .
This is no good in an overclock attempt as you would attemt to run the HT far over it's spec .
Theese two is removed again .
In addition the 150mhz text is aligned in memory index , and 216/233/250mhz dividers
removed as they gives 100/130/200mhz anyway and they are alredy there .

There are more and more people asking about how to flash bios outside windows from
DOS without having a floppy drive .
Well here is the solution .
I Have compiled a ISO file that holds all the most used bioses for all the K8N Neo motherboards .
The cd also includes the volkov commander (norton commander clone) for easy navigating .
Click on the "MSI K8N NEO/FSR & Neo2-Neo4 Bioses" text over the platinum BMP picture to get to the directory listing.
Go into the sub directory " ALL_BIOS_ISO " and download the ISO image for the bootable BIOS compilation CD " MS_CD5.iso " .
Then burn the ISO with your favorite cd burning application.
Again note the correct flash routine , clear PnP , clead cmos , clear dmi , and load defaults after flash , theese have become
essensial to use with flashing to ther newer bioses for all boards and is even posted on MSI's bios pages.
    Flash with the command line
    AWFL859G.EXE 7100NMS.350 /py/sn/cc/cd/cp/f/e
(change award flasher exe program and bios file as neccesary)
After flash , turn off the PSU .
Power on again , enter bios , and load bios defaults followed by a cmos exit with save .
Note that this is just a service . I will take no responsiblitity of the outcome of the bios flashing .

    MSI K8N Neo1 Platinum s754 , 7030
    Added beta bios'es
    1.57 and 1.58
Both have not been modded with opening of hidden options
    nor a replaced nvraid.rom .
    Note!
1.57 gave me some problems with upped fsb , black screen on boot
and overclocking reset message - loaded defaults .
This with same settings as with 1.56.
1.58 runs just as good in my rig as 1.56 , found no issues with it (yet).

    ==================================================
Update of boot block is not always neccesary.
Theese tables show with a letter the boot block version of each bios.
The bat file includes a /wb switch which reprograms bootblock .
If the flash goes wrong with boot block flashed and the boot block gets corrupted , no floppy rescue can be done.
Then it's adviced only to use the /wb swich in the included bat file when neccesary.

Theese are tested by several users (including myself and work fine)

First off get the BIOS version you want to flash:
Take a look at syar2003's excellent collection!
    http://members.lycos.co.uk/syar2003/S754_neo_plat_bios/
Download the BIOS version you want, extract the .zip and put the files on a bootable floppy. Syar2003 supplies a handy flash.bat file with "his" 1.55 that you can use. This saves you typing in all the command line switches listed in the quote below.
After booting from floppy, copy the three files (AWFL833D.exe, flash.bat and W7030NMS.155) to a hardisk or the ramdrive that was just created by the bootdisk. I strongly advise against flashing directly from floppy!
(Notice that you will need a FAT partition on your harddisk to be able to access it from "DOS".)
    Now follow syar2003's flash guide:
    Quote
    Remember :
Enter bios and load optimized default + save/exit , before flashing .
    Do the flashing to 1.55 with AWFL833D W7030NMS.155 /py/sn/wb/cc/cd/cp/f/r
Enter bios and load optimized default , and save .Important .
Boot once again after this without any changes/editing in bios to floppy prompt and let the dmi pool build and update itself.
Then boot/edit bios set your individual bios preferences .
    Hope this will help you!
Btw. When I flashed to 1.55 my NIC went dead in windows and I had no internet access. Make sure you have a official BIOS release at hand (on the same or other disk?) so that you can flash back to a version you trust...

  • MEGA 865 CPU heatsink FAN FAILURE.

Got my Mega 865 less than six months ago, and the CPU heatsink fan is making annoying loud grinding noises.
Anyone know where I can get an adequate replacement FAST online in the USA? (I need it in
The fan is the 60mm x 60mm x 13mm near the AGP slot, Delta Electronics model AFB0612VHC and the specs are DC12V 0.36A 28cfm 3pin motherboard connector.
Is it worth contacting MSI Support? Can they FedEx me a fast replacement overnight? (If it's under warranty, great, if not, fine I'll pay for it.)
Otherwise, the MEGA865 is great, I liked it a lot.
    Config:
    ATI Radeon 9600 (fanless)
    Hauppauge PVR250MCE
    3.2 ghz Northwood
    250 GB Maxtor
OEM NEC 2500A DVD RW black.
    and
    Windows Media Center 2005 (rocks)
Thanks for any help you can give.

I got the MEGA from newegg.
I'd rather MSI just mailed me a fan, not a whole heatsink. Bubble wrap one and drop it in a FedEx overnight envelop.
Even if it's under warranty, I'd totally pay for a new one if I could get it fast.
We're talking about a $15 item (+whatever FedEx overnight costs). I don't really care if I have to buy one myself. Unfortunately I looked on the web, and no one seems to sell this exact fan anywhere.
Wow I'm impressed. I phoned MSI USA support, was on hold for
Great job MSI support. I'm astonished it was this easy.

  • When and where can I buy a P6N Diamond

Does ANYONE have ANY news on the whereabouts of this board. Been waiting since November.
    Makin ma gut hurt.

I don't know how good my info is, but I called MSI USA and asked the girl in sales and marketing if she had any info about the board. I expected a complete stonewall, or at least a lack of info, but the young lady appeared to know exactly what board I was speaking of and informed me the board was due to arrive to them on April 20th and would then be shipped to their resellers which would take about a week.
In case anyone from MSI actually reads these forums, if the young lady I spoke too, wish I had her name, was a representation of all MSI employees, that would explain why my last 3 motherboards were MSI.

  • [TV@Master] MS8606 can't find Source : Cable

    Hello,
I can't select source in MMCD III ( MSI Media center deluxe III)
    http://images.partypeeps2000.com/image.aspx?mKMhudS0KFpGPO%2bldLcoDvLjO16YmyftaiG4gKUKsXA%3d
I have a msi tv card MS-8606. I have this for 2 years now..It NEVER WORKED. I have contacted msi support 'The Netherlanths' and ('US' recently) and they send me 2 different drivers (1 beta 1 official,) 3 MSIVPS ( 1 official, 2 beta 1 with freescan) and a program (dScaler). I have tried them all, in different combinations. The msi-support told me in my region, AMSTERDAM, many people have problems with this card. They told me 2 return the card and they would return my money. I never did that, I told them within a year I would call back 4 new drivers.
The beta drivers from them I used:
    Driver v2.79.1.72 [Beta]-------
    The Freescan MSIVPS:
    MSIPVS_[022304FreeScan]_[156MB]
    Now
I downloaded the new MMCD III and the drivers on this page :
    MMCD III (standard) - http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=546&kind=4
    Drivers - http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php?part=10 :
    Support model  TV@nywhere Master (MS-8606)
Description • MSI 8606 WDM TV Tuner Driver
    • WHQL pass.
    • Ver: 2.79.1.65
This still ain't working. I contacted MSI USA they told me let me check the tech forum.

    and I did a search
    for MS 8606------------------------------------------
Now I downloaded the sticky driver, I re-installed windows(on c:), Updated windows (not sp2), used the driver in combination with the new MMCD III. I still can't select Cable as a source.
    dScaler
This program is working with the sticky driver. It found all chanels. But I don't hear any sound.
    Can somebody please help?
    Thnx

    TV CARD: MSI MS-8606
    Installed driver - Sticky driver
Installed Software - MMCD III and Dscaler
OS: Windows XP SP1 With all updates (not SP2)

Yep, 3 days ago I installed windows but it installed on f: because of the smartcard readers (mega pc 180)...So I reinstalled everything even windows; now windows is on C: ...I followed the procedure...and I installed clean.
But I can't understand that Dscaler is just working fine except 4 the sound. I think the problem is MMCD III and MSIPVIS because:
    1. Dscaler is working
    2. 3 days ago when I saw the card wasn't working good. I installed my Pinnacle card on the pc. The card worked fine with it own programs but with MMCD III it didn't work, but I was able to select as source Cable.
And the only reason I bought this computer was because the remote control...And now I can't even use it.

  • USB 3.0 Bracket (Optional) Connected but not working :(

I have connected the USB3 Bracket for the additional 2 USB3 ports, but it does not seem to be working.
I have Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller listed twice and Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Root Hub listed Twice in my Device Manager.
The Two USB3 port directly on the Mobo work fine .  When I connect to the bracket ports the power lights on the drive come on but that's it, system does not see it.
I have check to see it the connector (JUSB2) was seeded properly and secure.  Any Ideas?  Thanks in advance
