  • Msi x99 gaming 9 ack problems

ok got my new msi x99 gaming 9 ack with i7 5930k and g.skill 2400 ram
    got my corsair ax1200i
so my problems i have been working on this all night near enough but today we have progress.
so problem is when i put ram in slot 1 would not post debug 04/55/60 no keyboard or signal to monitor. so i have finally got it working and got into the bios by put just one stick in slot 5. tried all 4 sticks in slot 5 but one failed at 6f so i think now one stick is faulty. but back to main problem with slot one.
once i had it booting up i switched off system and added 1 stick in slot one.
and it would not post debug 04/55/60.
so do i ram it or do you think bios update will fix this problem thanks in advance

Last night the exact same problem occurred to my Gaming 9 ACK.
Board worked flawlessly for three months with a 5960X processor, quad channel G.Skill 3.33 memory ( 16gb- 4x4 ) and four msi GTX980 gaming in quad sli mode.
Turned off the pc last night, and today, upon start the pc did not boot.
    04-55-60-04 and all over again.
Memory modules are populated in slots 1-3-5-7. After several try and error efforts, slot 7 is blocking the system from booting. All four modules checked and are fine.
Removed module in slot 7 and booted. No problem there.
After entering windows 7 environment, a second even bigger surprise surfaced.
NO SLI. Device manager sees only gtx980 in slot 1 and nothing else.
    New tests.
Only pci-e slot 1 works. All others are non functional.
So I am with an 8000$ pc, which works with 12gb triple channel memory and one VGA.
    Obviously motherboard has gone south.
    What now ???

  • X99S Gaming 9 ACK - power supply compatibility - JPWR2 and JPWR3- Status code 00

    Hello,
Setting up a newly purchased X99S Gaming 9 ACK, and would appreciate any help.  Can't get past status code 00 and am in debug mode.
First step in my debug process, I'm trying to confirm power supply requirements.   The board has two 12V input connectors - JPWR2 and JPWR3.  The manual mentions them both.  However, my power supply only has one 12V "EPS12V" cable with an 8 pin connector that can be separated into 4+4.
A quick search did not turn up any power supplies that come stock with two 12V cables.  This seemed odd, so I searched for information for JPWR2 and JPWR3 hoping to find something and what turned up was somewhat contradictory.  Some info out there seems to suggest that powering one of the two would be OK if not overclocking.  So I tried that - first just JPWR3, then split the power connector and did just JPWR2, then did JPWR2 and part of JPWR3....and then just to confirm what I thought I was seeing (that 00 status is telling me the CPU's not active) I removed everything from both JPWR2 and JPWR3.  In all cases, the status code was 00.
So I'm looking to find out how folks with this MB actually working have connected the power.
Question 1:  Does anyone run it without having both JPWR2 and JPWR3 connected?  If so, what approach do you use?
Question 2:  Does anyone run it having them both connected?  If so, please let me know what power supply you use.  I am guessing maybe a configurable cable sort could be set up with two 12V lines?
I know, it's possible with no known-good components (well, the power supply is freshly removed from a happily functioning PC, so it's not suspect) I may have either a bad CPU or a bad MB.  And they are both brand new and eminently returnable.  But I don't want to do that till I know I've got them powered correctly.  I'm relatively confident (well, hopeful) that having the correct power supply setup will let me get past 00 status code and see what else I get to debug.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Thanks for the input.  Reset CMOS, removed all but the first stick of RAM.  No change.  Status code 00.
Initial PS was the Corsair TX750W.  I got another power supply to test that has cables to fill both JPWR2 and JPWR3.  No change.  Status code 00.
So, apparently a DOA Motherboard.  Was afraid of that.  Sending it back to try again.

  • MSI X99S GAMING 9 ACK Strap issue

    Hi,
Iam not sure how the strap is supposed to work with this mobo, but i cannot find any option to set it. It must be in the bios, due the X99 system cannot handle the high BCLK. From the website: "The next generation OC Engine is offers a dedicated Clock Generator for more flexible BCLK adjustments, from 100 / 125 / 167 MHz straps." I would use my memories on 3000, that is why i ask. I have already checked the all available BIOS, and still look for the strap menu. It should be in the BCLK section, as i used to it before. I somebody know, how it is working, please let me know.

Quote from: Chike on 30-May-15, 01:05:16
Using the memory at 3000 require different BCLK?
Yep, need to use 125 strap, or this case looks like should set the bclk onto 125, and the clock generator handles the other frequencies.

I concur with all of badboy2k's thoughts. He puts forth a very good explanation, and it makes sense.
I'd get the power supply out and get a good branded power supply (Seasonic is my preference at this time)....

I have a MSI z87-GD65 and I cannot get the computer to reboot.
I am on a fresh windows 7 install.

  • X99S Gaming 9 ACK Power Supply Type/Reqs

The motherboard appears to want, for cpu connection, one 8-pin connector (JWPR2) and one 4-pin connector (JWPR3). I've got a new Thermaltake DPS-G 1050 power supply, but it has only the 8-pin CPU connector on it. In fact, none of my power supplies for my other machines have both of those types of CPU connectors.
Is it correct that the motherboard needs both the 8-pin and the 4-pin CPU connectors?  And if so, which brand and make of power supply will work with this motherboard?
    Thanks folks!

    Hi,
No. The motherboard only needs 24 pin connector and one 8 pin connector. Additional 4 pin is for extreme overclocking. My Z97Mpower Max Ac has 8 and 4 pin CPU connectors but I only use 8 pin as I am not overclocking. For medium overclocking also 8 pin is enough.

  • Msi x99s gaming 9 ack wireless problem

Ok so this motherboard is working great except for the wireless.
I had everything working great then the other week I got a m.2 set it up as boot drive.
Now up till then the wireless worked great but now when I reinstalled got everything in stalled and working. The wireless was working then one day it came up as usb device in device manager and device manager was saying there was a problem. I tried pointing windows to the drivers for it but windows says its up to date. It has done this twice now 1st time I uninstalled usb controller drivers and managed to fix it then reinstalled usb controllers. But now when I remove usb controllers windows just puts its own there. So I am stumped also when this happens the wireless vanishes in bios board explorer. Any one help with this thanks

Also I know it's not faulty device it's just driver and windows issue. Sorry if this looks messy using my phone
