MSOs are jumpy...

Is anyone else experiencing a jumpiness in their MSOs? We have several MSOs that are set to auto play to create a simple animation, but the state changes are jumpy and look like they go back and forth between a raster and vector display.
We solved this by recreating them as image sequences, but I'm disappointed that we can't make an animated MSO. MSOs offer a little more to the animation than an image sequence does, like a cross fade.
Any ideas out there?

Pixel Depth: 24
Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Size: 280x1872
No red lines on the timeline. I have an NVIDIA Quadro 4000 for Mac and the Mercury Playback engine is working great in this aspect. The stills don't look too jumpy in Premiere, but if you look close you can see it. But, it really shows when rendered into Quicktime.
Thanks

  • New AVHD captures are jumpy? Old ones work fine.

    Hello,
Went to capture some AVCHD clips from a sony camcorder and the captures via FCP are jumpy. They have equally spaced jumps when viewing them. What is interesting is that I have used this machine to capture video before without a problem. Previous captured files in Scratch space play just fine. First thought it was the content of the camcorder, but mounting old dmg files containing camcorder image also have problem of playback after capture..
I've tried everything I know how to do short of reinstalling FCP.
It works and captures fine with iMovie.
I have added a second monitor since I captured last, but I can't imagine that this is related..
anyone have any ideas? or other things to try?
    thanks,

  • My Safari/Email/Messages are jumpy

I just removed some malware from my iMac (mid 2010; 3.2 GHz Intel i3; 12GB; OS X 10.9.4 w/ Safari 7.0.6) restarted the computer, emptied the trash.  Now my Safari, Email, Message, Finder, Calendar, & Notes screens are jumpy and not loading in the smooth way they usually do.  Could I have inadvertently deleted something that makes them run smoothly?  My Google Chrome browser is not jumpy like that.  iTunes, Evernote, Omnifocus are not jumpy.
*Also just noticed that my Maps will not load a map.
    Anyone have any ideas??

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • When using presenter display, my videos are jumpy. Why?

Hello: I just upgraded to Keynote 3 and am having a nightmare. I use the Presenter display mode so I can see the next slide, (no mirroring) and use a lot of Quicktime video clips in my engagements. In Mirroring mode they run smoothly. In the presenter display mode they stop every second for half a second - making the video extrememely irritating to watch. It worked perfectly in Keynote 2. It 's not the projector - I've tried it on seven projectors that I used prior to Keynote 3 and it happens on all of them. I've tried using different resolutions, different refresh rate modes, etc. Nothing make it work right.
I do 100 speaking engagements a year. HELP! Don't make me go back to PowerPoint!

I have been having the same problem both in KN2 and in KN3. I am a speaker as well and I use about 25 QT videos in my keynote presentation. When I go back and view the QT files outside KN I still have jumpy, choppy parts of my videos. The weird part is that the the videos are choppy at different sections and then they will be fine for a week. I am stumped and from what I see so is Apple. Apple has replaced 2 logic board and I have spent hours on the phone with tech support and still no idea. All I know if about 15,000 people have seen the apple at the front and seen the choppy video and as you can guess all the PC guys always mention how choppy the video was. Not good promo for Apple.
I am interested to see if anyone has any answers to this.
    Thanks
    Brett

  • My avi videos are jumpy/shakey in Premiere Pro CS5 - can anyone help.

I have used avi video in Premiere CS4 and had no issues. Now that I have upgraded to Premiere CS5 my avi videos are shakey/jumpy before and after rendering them. What is wierd is when I nest an avi video from an old CS4 project and imort it into my CS5 project, the avi video is fine and isn't jumpy before or after rendering. I was wondering if anyone knows of a setting that needs to be set or a codec or upgrade that needs to be downloaded to fix this issue. I think its wierd that avi videos work fine in Premiere CS4 and not in CS5. My coworker and I are both editing video and he is having the same issue on his computer so I know its not just my computer. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Flash videos are jumpy and fastfoward if I switch windows...help?!?

This is a problem that seems to have happened after the switch to the newest version of Flash (11,2,202,228). Anyways, I've been noticing videos are fine as long as I keep them in view but if I scroll down on a page, like on Youtube for instance, or browse another window while a video is playing, when I come back to it it will start going crazy fastforwarding-like until it gets to what is supposed to be happening at this moment. I've noticed it on Youtube and also on Skype, the sound usually will continue to play if I go to another window (although there have been a few cut outs) just the video is screwed up when I return to the video, which runs on Flash. Also I used both Firefox and IE, and this happens in both, so it's not a browser problem.
I've thought that this could potentially be a virus however I can't imagine any virus would just affect Flash videos and not affect anything else, considering my computer seems to be running fine otherwise and I've already run quite a few antivirus/antimalware programs, which came up with nothing.

actually, the public beta went live yesterday.  you can try it here if you'd like: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11-3.html

Is the speed of your internet connection fast enough - i'd guess 500kbps.

Find a video that stutters on a site that allows downloading and download the video and play back from HD.

  • Pics are jumpy when putting movement to them.

Lately I have been having a problem with putting movement to pictures. When they move they jump up and down slightly while moving. I never used to have this problem and wonder what might be causing it. All the pics I've been using are 72 dpi, RGB color, and are either jpegs or photoshops. I've tried de-interlacing them and that doesn't help either. Any ideas?

For those who wander in here looking for a solution to their still image flickering woes ...
The flickering is an artifact of the interlaced nature of video. It is a result of very thin (often horizontal) elements that exist on one scanline as is common in text or titling. This can also be the case in scanned images with a great deal of detail in high contrast. (Note: It does no good to import images hugely larger than the pixel dimensions of the video sequence. All it does is force FCP to work harder at interpolation.)
As the alternate fields play, the flashing element is essentially being turned on/off. The basic strategy is to get the element to exist over two scanlines so it is refreshed every time the field plays or to reduce the amount of contrast so the difference between ON and OFF is not noticeable.
Things to try (In increasing order of image degradation)
    - (in FCP) field order>none
    - (in FCP or Photoshop) reduce whites by 10% - reduces overly bright areas
    - (in FCP) flicker filter - minimum
    - (in Photoshop) motion blur>vertical> .2 - .5 pixels - blurs vertically only
    - (In FCP or Photoshop) Gaussian blur> .2 - .5 pixels -blurs both horizontally as well as vertically
    - (in FCP or Photoshop) deinterlace - throws away half the image and is generally not appropriate on scanned images
Remember: Unless you are viewing your work in the appropriate external NTSC/PAL monitor, you are playing blind. The computer monitor only shows you a proxy image.
    good luck.

  • Upgraded to FCP 5 and my transitions are jumpy when editing HDV

Hello, just upgraded to Tiger so I could load Final Cut Studio and I've exported my first movie and everywhere there is a transition (in this case, cross dissolves and dip-to-color) it's smooth on the timeline but jumps when I export. For instance, I open the video with a left-to-right pan and it dips to color to begin. the video pans to the right and then where the dip ends, it jumps/jerks back to the left and continues the pan. Every single place there is a dissolve or dip, the video does this. What am I doing wrong? I've never had this problem before using FCP 4.5. I'm also editing HDV for the first time. Is this an HDV or FCP 5 issue?
    Thanks for any help.

By the way, I just selected Sequence, Render All and noticed Full was the only thing NOT checked. So I checked that as well and re-rendered and it said "Conforming HDV Video" and it STILL jumps after exporting it. What should I do now?

  • Image rollovers are jumpy - Anyone know why?

I created a .png in Sketch, copied and pasted and changed the color to get the rollover version, so I see no reason how they could be different sizes. I have not dowsized them yet. I used HTML snippet and added the rollover code - everything works but the rollover appears slightly higher on the screen then the normal, so it looks like its jumping. Please help - any ideas? Thanks

No, I have no ideas, since you do not provide real, verifiable information.

  • Multiple MSO on one page are not working

    Hey,
I tried to place more than one MSO (Image-Slideshow: autoplay, different time interval) one the same page. Content Viewer preview on Mac works perfectly, however, on the iPad it won´t work.
It always works just for the last MSO I created, all other MSO on the page won´t autoplay or allow interaction.
I know that this worked early before I updated to drop18.
In addition, as soon as I place a MSO above another MSO (e.g. in oder to keep an icon or headline visible above a MSO at all time) none of the MSOs will work.
Are you guys aware of that issue? Is there a bug fix coming any time soon? Or (even better) did someone already come up with a solution?

Self running MSOs are broken and there is no solution except to wait until they’re fixed.

  • Nested MSO, slideshow inside MSO triggered by button, invisible on start, able to open/close

    Consider the following scenario:
(albeit, this may not even be the right way to do this, or perhaps such functionality is not possible based on existing tools at this time, however, I thought I would post and see if anyone has a trick to share...)
I have a slideshow on the page, it is set to auto play.
I would like to hide it initially, and have it trigger with a button... and then let the user close it. Much like the "light box" effects we have all come to know from the web.
    Seems easy enough.
However, in my first attempt to do this I did the following:
1- create an OPEN button (F1)
2- create a container box and a CLOSE button, grpup them (F2)
3- turn them both into an MSO (M1)
4- set the button in F1 to trigger F2 (open state)
5- set the button in F2 to trigger F1 (close state)
    -> test, works.
    next step, slideshow!
    I grab 5 images, create a new MSO (M2).
Turn it into a slideshow Folio Overlay...
    -> test, works.
Now this is where it gets funky...
MY FAIL 1- If I try to take M2 and then right click M1, there is NO paste into option.
MY FAIL 2- If I click on the Object States Panel, and then Right click State 2 for M1, there is no "past into option"
MY FAIL 3- If I try to "Alt+Ctrl+V" with M2 into State 2 for M1 it does not work.
--> nor does any other scenario where I attempt to paste any MSO into another MSO
    I have even tried
x- grouping the MSO slideshow with a non MSO element such as a frame, text boxt, image, ect..
x- taking the 5 images and pasting them into the MSO seperate, and then trying to turn them into a new MSO inside State 2, which the new MSO button is greyed out and will not let me apply it.
Possible solution I have come up with after looking over alot of Bob's stuff in the tutorials area
(PS his videos and tut's realy help, its a differant kind of thinking going on here with DPS, I imagine it relates to how the C in the binary works and is translated by the InDesign GUI into app code... would be nice to just type in "function on_tap(){open_slideshow(vars);}"  lol silly programmer, this is primarily a tool for designers  ... but I do think its awesomeness, as a programmer, I dont even want to write code anymore after using DPS and Phone Gap...),
so... here it is, not necessarily the most attractive...
1- Make the slide show MSO, push to BACK, set to auto play and swipe allowed...
2- place a large opaque box on top of the slideshow, group it with the OPEN button
    3- create a close button
4- turn them into an MSO, now there is an 'open' button in state 1 on top of an opaque box that sends to state 2, and a 'close' button in state 2 that sends to state 1
This seems to work, I have not tested it on all devices, the iPad will kind of do this wierd glitchy thing, as if it "knows" there is something moving underneath the opaque box. Depending on how I have positioned scrollable frames on top of these elements from a stacking perspective there can be some unexpected behavior. The best results I have had from more complex layouts is to get creative with positioning...
any other suggestions, tips, tricks, would be appreciated
    ON a site note:
    POSSIBLE BUG:
ANYTIME I try to take ANYTHING that is already using the FOLIO OVERLAY and right click the STATE in the STATES PANEL
In Design total crash!!! The only time I can take a  FOLIO OVERLAY (FO) and "right click paste into" an MSO state is by clicking on the state on the stage, it can not be done from the panel, the panel only works with non "FO" items... Even though the state in the panel shows the "past into" option, if I do, *poof* instant app crash... FYI for anyone toying with this. Kudo's to Adobe for the outstanding "auto save" feature. It has saved me time, and there for in some strange way, has also saved some of my life.
Here is what InDesign poops out when a "Folio object" is attempted to be "pasted into" an MSO via the MSO panel.

@zagarskas – nested MSOs are currently NOT supported by Adobe.
However we could build such a construct by using ExtendScript (Adobe's flavor of JavaScript).
The problem with that is, that Buttons inside  a nested MSO will not work as expected. At least my testing is showing that.
If you want nested MSOs without Buttons (inside the nested one) or if you like to experiment, see the following thread:

  • Jumpy playback from image sequences rendered in Apple Prores and then exported to h264

I will start by saying I have been using FCP since 1.0 and am in no way new to this software, but this issue has me going crazy.
    First the Specs:
MacPro 2 x 2.66 Quad cor Intel Xeon
    16 gig Ram
    OS 10.9.2
FCP 7.0.3 (sorry but I am not a fan of FCP10 at all)
In other words, a beast of a system that has played back everything I have ever built on it for years until now. So now for the issue: I work with an amazing 3D Max builder and we have created a building animation exported from that program into and image sequence ( we have tried JPG, TGA and PNG still all with the same effect). I open Quicktime 7 Pro, build the image sequence, save as .mov, import into FCP and drop it into my 1080p30 Apple Prores (HQ ... we also tried SQ) timelines. The timeline renders perfectly and I can play the video perfectly through my system out of Firewire 800 to my Motu V4HD device which then converts the signal to HDMI to my 55" LED TV. The video and playback is perfect.... until:
If I try to play back the same exact time line into an exported video file, the file will play back with random jumpyness in it. I say random since you can play it back 10 times and it will hiccup during playback at different spots in the video. If you review every frame in the file though using Quicktime 10, 7 or VLC viewer, every frame is perfect. So, it must be the data rate right? Wrong. I have exported now to H264 MP4, M4V, MOV , ect, etc at different data rates from 4mb to 40 mb per second. They all have the same randow jumpyness to it. So it must be my computer right? Nope. I have a Macbook pro that is more powerful than this machine and I rebuild the file using the same method (something I have done a thousand times before) and the exported file does the same thing on that machine. I had my friend do it on his machine... same thing. ERRRR....
We have even tried using After Effects and Premier to the same result. Rendered it straight from Quicktime Pro, same. Rendered it to 720p30, same. Render it to 24fps, same. I had another editor render it using whatever methods he wanted to use... same. Tried Compressor, SAME.  Tried Adobe Media Encoder, SAME......We even, god forbid, used a PC running Premier and built the image sequence and rendered to h264 at 30fps, 5mbs.... @#$@#$ SAME!
We just remade the 3D Studio Max export into a 60fps animation since I thought that the individual frames we appearing too far apart and thus causing the jumpyness. That was causing the playback of the upclose objects flying across the screen fast to appear jittery, but not the random playback jumps. The 60fps did smooth out the animation greatly during fast flybys, but the playback jumps are still there in all players, QT, VLC, the web, etc.
I was starting to think this issue is realted to Mavericks, but since the PC did the same thing that is not it either. I have linked a sample of the clip below exported to 720p30, 25mbs... something that is much smaller than the original and should playback smooth very easily on any of my systems.
FYI: I have now opened numerous projects I have edited over the last few years and noticed that all of them are now jumpy, so this isn't just an image sequence issue. While the other projects don't use image sequences and instead are shot footage edited together, there is still the random jump (far less than the image sequence as you will see) but they are now there... ***? I have cleared preferences in FCP which helps for a short period of time, but once exported I get the same glitch.
As I said... I am stumped... ANYONE have ideas for me to try?
Here is a sample file for you all to see and please tell me if anyone does not see the issue after playing it several times in a row.
    www.media3lv.com/switch/NORTH-sample-720p30_25mb-sec.zip
One last thing to note... my main goal for these videos is YouTube or Vimeo playback via our company website. I have a few other animations online right now using YouTube and the problem is also showing there. At first I thought it was just my videos, but I have looked at numerous YouTube videos now showing 3D animation and alot of them are jumpy.
    www.supernap.com/supernap-building-design.html
    www.supernap.com/supernap-tscif-exchange.html
These don't show the issue as bad since the camera fly is much slower, but why is this occuring and is it coming from my source, or is this a known youtube issue? I can program this using out own modules, but YouTube and Vimeo allow for multiple resolutions and a checker script which makes it easier to share over all devices at all quality up to 1080p.
    Advice is welcome and appreciated?

I have tried at actual, full screen, using 1080p30 size from the original compressed to 4mbs (something my system can handle without blinking), 720p30, etc. etc. etc.  Nothing stops the jumps. Even the activity monitor shows only 5%-15% processing being used by QT and/or FCP.
I plan to pull my old G5 out of the closet, it runs 10.6.8 and is still rock solid for video editing in FCP7.  If it plays smooth on that 8 year old system then I know it's Mavericks. I'll try that tonight. It floors me though why the original 1080p30 will playback perfect via FCP and Motu, but once I turn of external monitoring and just try to play it via the preview monitor it is jumpy as **** and then the exported file does the same thing.  So strange.  I even deleted prefences of FCP and that does help with screen playback initially, but it always gets jumps in it after playing for a while.
I knew I should not have started using Mavericks and I HATE FCP10.

  • Jumpy video playback from iPhone 5 to Mac Book Pro

    Hi
I recently took some footage on my iPhone 5 and downloaded onto my 2007 Mac Book Pro via iPhoto. Unfortunately, mid download iPhoto became unresponsive and I had to Force quit.
After restarting iPhoto I saw that the videos had not been downloaded so I started the process again. It was a seemingly successful download so I deleted the videos from my iPhone.
Upon playback all the video's are jumpy. Other older video's all ready in the library are fine.
It seems all the info is in there as each time I play a video back I see different parts of the video ie: the jumps are not all in the same place each time.
    Is it a playback 780 v 1080 issue?
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

  • Burned DVD is jumpy and blurry

I made a basketball highlight tape with still pictures and footage from basketball games.  The pictures, music and transitions came out great, but the video clips from the games are jumpy and shakey (so much that it gives you a headache to watch).  We recorded our basketball games on a regular video camera (not an HD camera) - the type of camera that records onto a hard drive.  We then downloaded the video clips onto the computer, etc.  Can someone help me out??  We have a banquet soon and I wanted to show this video at the banquet.
    THANKS!

Well, if you used a HDD (Hard Disk Drive) camera, the material was likely recorded with heavy compression, like MPEG-2. When that footage is edited, and then Transcoded to a DVD, it will be compressed again, resulting in poorer quality.
A couple of things to think about would be:
Make sure that you choose a Project Preset for an HDD camera.
Check the Field Order (the scan that gets shown first on a TV) between your source footage and your your Export - NTSC DVD is UFF (Upper Field First). What is the Field Order of your camera's footage. The great, free utility, G-SPOT, will tell you, if you do not know.
Use the highest quality setting for your DVD. MPEG-2 shows issues with rapid motion, either subject or camera, and when one applies 2 compressions to the footage, it REALLY shows.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
