MTO in OPM R12

Hi,
How does Make-to-Order scenario work in OPM R12.
I tried defining an item as ATO type, but it requires bill.
Pl Help.

Dear friend
If you maintain your bills of material in any organization other than the Item Validation Organization, you need to ensure the consistency between the bills. A common practice is to set up the bill in the item primary manufacturing organization, then common it in all other organizations that need to use it.
If an operating unit has multiple OE responsibilities, then those OE responsibilities must have the same OE validation organization in order for AutoCreate Configuration to work properly.

  • Item Classes in OPM R12

    Hi,
We have done an upgrade from 11i to R12. I am not able to map few columns from the table : IC_ITEM_MST_B to a table in R12.
    The columns are :
    1) GL_CLASS
    2) INV_CLASS etc
All Item classes are converged to item categories, but I am not able to map these classes to mtl_item_cat table.
    Thanks

  • OPM R12 - Changing Fiscal Policy of a Legal Entity.

    Hi,
Can anyone share the effects of the following scenarios,
    1. Changing 'Valuation Method' in Fiscal Policy of a Legal Entity after some periods (From STND to PPAC/PWAC/PMAC)
2.Is it possible to have organizations with different costing methods (STND, PPAC, PMAC) under a single L.E. On what valuation will the accounting entries get generated?

  • OPM Process Execution and OPM Standard Costing for Poultry Business

I have a business requirement from the client at their Poultry Processing plant where the client feels that the OPM Execution steps are too cumbersome until closing the batches. The client wants to maintain minimum number of batches in Production: one for Primary, one for Secondary and one for Further Processing, rather than having multiple batches based on different formulas. There are 3 main types of processing which can be briefly described as follows:
    A.) Primary Processing:
Live Birds (Ingredient) become Whole Dressed Chicken with Neck, without Neck, Liver, Heart, etc... (40 Finished Products)
e.g. Live Birds (Broiler) -> Whole Dressed Chicken with/without neck, Whole Dressed Chicken with/without neck, etc.
    B.) Secondary Processing:
Only one type of Whole Dressed Chicken (from Primary Processing) become Chicken Cuts (80 Finished Products).
e.g.[Scenario B1] Whole Dressed Chicken (Broiler) -> Drumsticks, Thighs, Wings, Breasts, Backbone, etc.
[Scenario B2] Breasts -> Filets and Deboned Breasts (2 FGs)
[Scenario B3] Thighs -> Thighs in Plain Bag
Please note that the Whole Dressed Chicken is also sold as a Finished Good as well as an Ingredient for the Secondary Processing.
    C.) Further Processing:
Chicken Cuts become 40 Finished Products
e.g Filets -> Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Fries, etc...
The client is using Standard Costing method for its OPM Financials and all the finished products (160 Products in all) are having different production cost. Please note that 1 kg of Chicken Wings is not equal to 1 Kg of Chicken Thighs. Different body parts have different costs. In order to alleviate the maintenance of multiple batches per day on the production floor, the client wishes to have minimum batches. We therefore would wish if you can confirm the below approach to be correct?
    a.) OPM Process Execution:
    ==========================
    EITHER should I (Option 1):
a.) Create ONLY 3 Formulas for Primary, Secondary and Further Processing . The 3 Formulas will have all the processing line Finished Products grouped together (as per the scenarios explained above). Formula for Primary and Secondary Processing can also combined together, reducing it to only 2 batches to maintain per day.
b.) Can set any Quantity Values for the Ingredient, Product and By-Product in the Formula details with ANY Cost Allocation (amounting to a total of '1') in the Products section
c.) Set the Validity Rules as 'PRODUCTION' for the 3 Recipes
d.) Complete the steps defined in the 'OPM Cost Management' (as described below)
e.) Create the 2 or 3 batches and record the appropriate quantities at the end of the day before closing the batches
    OR should I (Option 2):
a.) Create MULTIPLE Formulas (above 100 formulas) for Primary, Secondary and Further Processing based on the different products processed.
b.) Can set any Quantity Values for the Ingredient, Product and By-Product in the Formula details with ANY Cost Allocation (amounting to a total of '1') in the Products section
c.) Set the Validity Rules as 'PRODUCTION' for the 3 Recipes
d.) Complete the steps defined in the 'OPM Cost Management' (as described below)
e.) Create the MULTIPLE batches and record the appropriate quantities at the end of the day before closing the batches.
    b.) OPM Cost Management:
    ========================
Whether (Option 1 or Option 2) selected, the below needs to be set for OPM Costing:
a.) Define multiple formulas (above 100), as in Option 2.
b.) Set the Quantity value to be '1' for the Ingredient, Product and By-Product in the Formula details with the appropriate Cost Allocation in the Products section
c.) Set the Validity Rules as 'COSTING' and 'PRODUCTION' for each Recipe
d.) Run Cost Rollup at least once so that the products can have an item cost per unit
As per me, for the purpose of Costing, it would be imperative to have multiple batches (created one time only) with appropriate Cost Allocation in the Formulas and the ‘Recipe Use’ in the Validity Rules should be set as ‘COSTING’. Then, setting Profile Option 'GMF: Use Only Costing Validity Rules for Cost Rollup' to 'Yes'. In this way, we are sure that the different products in the formula with correct Cost Allocation will have their Item Cost calculated after performing the Cost Rollup. AND, for the purpose of operations, we can only one combined formula of Live Birds (as Ingredients) to yield -> All FGs for Primary and Secondary Processing with Cuts. But, this time, the ‘Recipe Use’ in the Validity Rules of the Recipe should be set as ‘PRODUCTION’.
I want to confirm which approach (Option 1 or Option 2) is more appropriate in terms of Operations and confirm that the above proposed steps are correct with no circular reference (as certain finished products are also used as ingredients for another product in the Secondary Processing)?
    Thanks and regards

    Hi Raveesh
I am implementing OPM R12 in Poultry Processing business, I think option 1 (Create 3 formulas/recipes/batches) is more appropriate. In my case we are using actual costing (Moving Average) as a costing method.
I have set the profile option GMF: Cost Allocation Factor Calculation to be "Dynamic" to calculate the batch cost allocations as a ratio of actual quantity of each product produced to the total production batch output quantity and I have used OPM Financial Cost Allocation process to allocate GL expenses on different products based on Fixed percentage % according to product "value" where Filets has a return more than wings.
Can you please share your knowledge in this business area and confirm to what extend my approach is correct ??
    Thank you and best regards

  • Make To Order in OPM

I need documentation to MTO in OPM (what setup the item nedd?).
I already setup of the make to order rules, create do Sales Order, execution concurrent Process Manufacturing Make to Order, but the batch not is created.
Somebody have some documentation to help me?
    Thanks in advance.
    Wladinei

After booking sales order, there are some followed step required to accomplise MTO such as forcasting or demand planning and launching ASCP based on demand collection or just used sales order include in ASCP. From that ASCP you can get recommendation to release Purchase Requisition for material procurement and Work Order for Batch Creation.
    I hope this is helpfull.

    Thank you

hr_utility.set_location is how Oracle HR Development traces its code. You can see an example of it in the after hook wrapper:
    hr_utility.set_location(' Leaving: HR_COMPETENCE_ELEMENT_BK1.CREATE_COMPETENCE_ELEMENT_A', 20);
So in your code you might insert the lines:
    hr_utility.set_location(' Entering: <my package.procedure>', 5); -- at the beginning
    hr_utility.set_location(' <my package.procedure>', 10); -- after the SELECT
    hr_utility.set_location(' <my package.procedure>', 15); -- after the insert to custom table
    hr_utility.set_location(' <my package.procedure>', 20); -- inside the 'IF' statement
    hr_utility.set_location('Leaving: <my package.procedure>', 25); -- just before the 'END;'
Edited to add: you might want to put something in the 'exception' bit too, just to see what was the nature of the exception that you evidently don't care about(!):
    hr_utility.trace ('Exception code: '||SUBSTR(sqlerrm,1,100)); -- in exception
In terms of tracing, I understood from your original post that you had already traced it to show that it went through the code OK?
OK, in order to trace, you need to introduce the following lines in your originating procedure, i.e. the one that calls the API that in turn calls this hook:
    hr_utility.trace_on();
    hr_utility.set_trace_options ('TRACE_DEST:DBMS_OUTPUT');
    : your code
    hr_utility.trace_off;

  • Handling Multiple Production Lines

I am implementing OPM R12 for Cement Industry. Our client has 7 production lines and needs to create batches and production plan for each production line. Can anyone suggest how to do this by creating a single Inventory Org? Or is creating multiple Inventory Orgs the only solution?
*Note:- Our client does not have different sub-inventory for each production line. There is a common sub-inventory for each production line.
    Thanks,
    Birju

    Hi,
You wouldn't want to create multiple inventory organisations.
The best way you can achieve what you need is to group all the plant resources in each production line into a resource group. For example we group all our packing machines into a resource group called Packaging. This means in planning (ASCP) we can view the plan by resource group.
OPM batches are specific to a recipe selected, so I guess the name of your routing should reflect the name of the production line.

  • Unable to release OPM Batch in R12

    Hi gurus,
We are implementing R12 OPM and using the shared version of unconstrained ASCP planning.
We are not able to release OPM batch planned orders to OPM execution.
The profile Auto Implement planning suggestion to APS is set as No and ran the "Auto Release of Planning suggestions for APS" concurrent request manually gives error message as
"Profile Update activity offset is not set",
Searched thro metalink and could not able to get the solution.
Can anyone help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Suresh

First try to create plan batch manually in Production Module.
If it allows you to create and save planned batch (FPO) then the issue is with ASCP-OPM integration.
If you are unable to create planned batch manually, check for:
    1) Plant-warehouse setup in MPS
    2) Document ordering
    3) Valid effecivity for the item
I am not sure if all of these are still required in R12, but they are required in 11.5.10
If you are able to create FPO manually then there might be issue in integration where some setup steps is missing. You need to follow all the setup steps mentioned in ASCP-OPM integration manual.

  • R12: Setup Fiscal Policy in OPM Cost Management

    hi,
In Vision R12 Instance, the organisation code PRU is not getting listed in the LOV of Legal Entity field in the FISCAL POLICY set up function. This PRU is also a Legal Entity and which is getting listed in all other Setup functions like Cost Calendar etc,.
In 11i it was handled through User Organisation setup in the OPM System Setup. Now, how to do this setup in R12 so that Fiscal Policy can be created for this PRU Legal Entity organisation.
    Thiyagu.

    Dear Friend
Go to OPM financials responsibility, there go to Cost Calendar, Query your latest calendar in LOV see that "PRU-Vision Process Industries (US)" wheather visible or not, if found select that LE and assign, save the form.
    Hopefully it will be there.
Next go to Inventory super user, where u just go to Oraganisation Access, in which for your PRU ORG assign OPM financials responisiblity.
    Give me reply on this.

IT IS VERY URGENT.....HELP ME OUT
Can any one detailed ON " Least cost Formula" in OPM of R12 with regard to :
    1. What exactly is LCF
    2. Where/when we can use, with examples.
    3. Its Set ups
    4. When it recommends to use this LCF
IF Any RCD (Release content docs) is there also plz sahre.
    Regards
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
    Define items,(products, ingredients,etc)
Define Ingredients item costs has been defined
    (N) OPM Financials > Item Costs
Define technical Parameters(Numerical/Derived Cost, etc required for your setup)
    (N) Formulator > Technical Data > Technical Paramerters
Then Assign Laboratory Technical Parameters Sequences ( for the above defined Tech parameters)
    (N) Formulator > Technical Data > Technical Paramerters Sequences
Define your OPM item's Technical Data (with the above item tech parameters & sequences)
    (N) Formulator > Technical Data > Item Technical Data
    Create a new Formulation Specification
    (N) Formulator > Formulation Specification Workbench > (M) Actions>New Specification
    enter required data,
    Ingredient Selection = Material Requirement
    select Optimization Objective(minimise or maximise)
Create Material Requirement (Highlight your new specification, (M) Actions>New Requirement
    menu.)
Create Technical Requirements((M) Actions>New Requirement object)
Approve Formulation Specification ((M) Actions>Change Status ->Approved for General Use)
Generate a least cost formula, for your Specification object ((M) Actions>Formulate, click generate button)
    Click the Material View tab
    Review the material View details
(Ingredient displays each ingredient with its Qty and, UOM and Description. Each technical Parameter associated with the ingredients and product are listed next to the item)
    try this out,

I need to know more about OPM Qaulity 11.5.10 regarding specification setup and sample testing (inv/customer/production/vendor) ans system admin setups. I have implemenrted OPM Quality r12 recently and I notice 11.5.10 is different, any help will be appreciated. (It is more like looking back )
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Malik,
Following are the basic setups required in 11.5.10 for QM:
    - Define Test Classes (Optional)
    - Define Test Units
    - Define Test Methods
    - Define Tests
    - Define Actions
    - Define Specifications with validity rules
    - Setup system parameters
    - Setup QM related GMD profiles
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Sanjeev

  • OPM Business Area Associated with R12 of Apps

    Hi All,
We have decided to not go with purchasing views from an Oracle Partner (e.g. like Noetix) and consequently, we have decided to use the seeded views that come with Oracle Apps. Our OPM folder was very sparse. Specifically, it came with the following folders:
Process Item Master, Customer Sites, Customers, Item Categories, Organizational Items, Item Category Assignments, Item Category Types
Missing in this are the following:
Batches, Recipes, Routing, Formulas and everything else (e.g. OPM Financials)
In examining older versions of Discoverer & Apps, the OPM business area was well rounded (e.g. look at Infocaptor’s metadata http://www.infocaptor.com/bis_bas/process_manufacturing/business_areas1.html).
In Oracle’s statement of direction on Discoverer, it did not shed any light on whether there are any plans to make this a seeded business area.
We did create a service request on this issue and the response was very opaque (we were told to look at the Daily Business Intelligence views associated with Process Manufacturing). There was no clear answer from them.
-Has anyone heard if Oracle plans on more thoroughly seeding the OPM business area like it has historically seeded this business area?
    Our configuration:
Discoverer Instance: OracleBI Discoverer Version 10.1.2.54.25
    Database: Oracle 10G
    Apps Version: R12
Problem: Related to our EUL for Apps

    Hi,
No, this is not possible. The business areas are just a grouping of folders. Workbooks can use many folders which can be located in many business areas. Therefore there is no direct relationship between business area and workbook.
This is why it is useful to use a naming convention when creating workbooks so that it is easy to identify and group workbooks.
