Multiple attachment of planning books to planning area

Dear all,
I am facing an issue:
When I copied the planning book in a planning area without making any changes I was not able to display the original book,
In display I found that planning area of original planning book was changed and the copied book had the requried planning area.
Please advise..

Hi Amol,
Not sure if I understand your question correctly. But I guess you have got a planning area assigned in your planning book which you need to change. Goto Define Planning Book (transaction /SAPAPO/SDP8B) enter the planning book for which change is required. Then click on Edit (in the menu bar) >> Assign Planning Area. This will list the planning areas in the system and you can change the planning area suitably. Please note after this you need to go and check for the characteristics and keyfigures in the planning book and data view. These may be changed depending on the new planning area. Macros needs to be checked as well.

You can do this in multiple ways:
1. T code: /SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN - Administration of Demand Planning and Supply Network Planning
Right click the planning area and choose "details". You can find all the corresponding details
2.Go to T code: /sapapo/sdp94
right click on the planning book "info about planning book", you would get the details

Following are some of the points which need Multiple Planning Areas .
1.Different functions want to see their respective data in their views ,for ex.sales ,production ,finances need to see their specific related key figures data .
2.Different Units of measure for planning products need different planning areas. 3.Multiple Currencies in which data is planned .
4.Planning levels i.e. Aggregated Level and Lowest level of detail which affects the performance .
5.Setting in planning area how each Key figure is aggregated and desaggregated
6 and in some cases where storage bucket profile which can be either controlled by maintaining different data views .
Pls reward points if it is helpful..

Multiple person working on same planning area

Hello,
Can anyone please suggest how multiple people can work on same planning area at the same time. We are working on implementation project and our team has to work on different planning levels in the same planning area. But locking prevents us to achieve the same.
Any ideas?

Regarding the change of the Area itself, it looks logic that two person cannot change its design at the same time.
If I remember well if somebody is changing the Area, then everything is locked. But it is not the case if two person are working on separate Levels.
A very important thing (correct me if I'm wrong) is that if you have been in change mode of an Area, Level, Package, etc... in your current BPS0 session, you will still lock it untill you get out of BPS0.
Then, if in your team everybody knows on wich level they have to work and then don't go in change mode of other elements it should work (but not for the area because it contains all the subelements...).
By the way, check also <a href="http://service.sap.com/~form/handler?_APP=01100107900000000342&_EVENT=REDIR&_NNUM=635244">Note 635244 - Locking transaction data in SEM-BPS</a>:
<i>Two parameters are only designed to facilitate the Customizing process, if users
carry out Customizing in transaction BPS0 within a project.
o SEM_BPS_NO_LOCK: This parameter has the effect that transaction
data is not locked at all. Never use this parameter in a production
system. As of Support Package 14 for Release 3.1B, parameter
SEM_BPS_NO_LOCK is released by an additional switch in table
upc_dark2: For this purpose you have to maintain a record with

You can add these parmeters to a user id in the "Parameter"tab in T-Code SU01.

Is there a table that gives the list of planning books associated with a planning area? I want to enter a planning area and get the planning books associated with it or enter planning book and be able to get the planning area it is in.

You can try with transaction ST14,there you find the detail about your planning area and book and macro and so on ..for all the application DP and SNP and CIF.

Moving Planning areas and Planning books from SCM 4.0 to SCM 5.1

Hello Experts,
Can anyone have idea of how to transport planning areas and Planning book from SCM 4.0 to SCM 5.1.
Do we need any prerequisite to Transport Planning area and Planning book from Lower version (SCM 4.0) to higher version SCM 5.1.
Any suggestion could be very helpful for me.

I have never done this, but I suspect it might be tad easier to just recreate them in 5.1 There are scores of tables that Planning Book configuration lies in. I would not rely on a transport mechanism working across versions to migrate every bit of the configuration accurately.

How to get planning area if I have planning book - Function module/table

Hello All,
Our basic requirement is to find out whether the planning book we are using is DP relevant or SP relevant. (inside the custom program)
One way is to find out the relevant planning area and find out if the planning area is DP relevant or SP relevant.
But can anyone suggest if there are any tables or function modules to achieve the same?

Dear Chandan,
You can use the table "/SAPAPO/PBMVW" for your issue. "APP_SNP" field tells if it SNP planning book or not. Thee tables gives all planning books present in the system.
If you want dataview's you can use table ""/SAPAPO/PBDVW"".

Multiple keyfigure from different planning area based on the attribute value of Cost element charac.
I need to obtain the value of the attribute in a fox function. Let me explain it further.
Background :
Planning area -
Charac----
KF
area1 -
Payscale group--- Amount
Cost element------AmountVR
area2--Payscalegroup----KF1
KF2
KF3
Cost Element has an attribute "Type"
Value for attribute "Type" = 1,2,3
Based on the value of the attribute, the corresponding KF needs to be multiplied.
Logic :
If type = 1.
AmountVR = Amount * KF1.
elseif type = 2.
AmountVR = Amount * KF2.
elseif type = 3.
AmountVR = Amount * KF3.
endif.
The problem I'm facing is that I'm not able to read the data of attribute "Type". None of the below statement retrieve the value of the "Type".
TYPE = ATRV(Attribute,COSTELEMENT,CO_AREA)
or
TYPE = ATRV(Attribute,COSTELEMENT)
Could you please help me in reading from a time dependent compounding InfoObject?

Characteristics VS Attributes in Planning Area

Hi All:
We have a situation where we need to have, say ABC KEY as an attribute in our planning area. Since ABC KEY is PLANT/MATERIAL dependent and not just MATERIAL dependent, we will have to add 0MAT_PLANT InfoObject to the PA which will complicate the PA. I am not sure how this will play with InfoObjects 0MATERIAL and 0PLANT infoObjects in the same PA.
Question is, how do you handle attributes that is part of InfoOBjects with multiple key if you want them to be included in the Planning ARea.

Rephrased question will be:
The situation is we need to add 0ABC to the MPOS. But we do not want to add it as a characteristics to the MPOS. We would like to add it as an attribute. What are the issues with it?
I talked to a few friends and they gave me some insight which I have briefed below:
0ABC is an attribute of 0MAT_PLANT. That is, 0ABC is an attribute of a composite characteristic. That characteristic is material AND plant dependent. So, if you add 0MAT_PLANT to the MPOS so that you have 0ABC then you will need to specify a plant or a material to drill-down further in your planning book. That is a pain. So the following are the options I have.
1. Include 0MAT_PLANT as a characteristics in the MPOS and have 0ABC as a characterisitcs and live with the constraint of needing to supply either the plant value or material value to drill-down.
2. Make 0ABC an attribute of 0MATERIAL instead of an attribute of 0MAT_PLANT. In some cases it may not work if the same material has different 0ABC value in different plants.
3. Make 0ABC a characterisic in MPOS and make sure that in the transformation rule to include a routine to populate some constant value if it does not have any value.

Interactive Planning area - No plannable

We just upgraded to SCM 5.0. We are getting errors when running the interactive planning area.
When we select a single products and try to load into our planning book, we are getting no plannable characteristic combination. When we select multiple products, the products load.
Any ideas on why it works for multiple and not one?

Here is what we completed to fix our problem.
Run report /SAPAPO/OM_LC_UPGRADE_50 via TCODE SE38. In section
C - At End of Upgrade, and perform steps 4 - 7.
If you run transaction /NRSRV; >All Elementary Tests; >>Database;
Double-click >>>Check Database Parameter(s)<<<

You will find 2 red lights there.

Procedure to deleting POS, Planning areas and related infrastructure in DP

Hi ALL,
Our APO DP implementation has multiple Planning object structures (POS) and plannining areas. Now one of our division has 2 POS, one of which is deactivated as they has lot of changes some time back. Now there is lot of consuion as both have almost same names with light difference.
So many times we try to open deactivated planning book or even in RSA 1 we get confused. So we decided to delete all infrastructure for one we have deactivated.
Can some one advice from what level do I start deleting example:. Planning book, Macro bok etc. and in BW we want to get rid off all infocubes and other structures related to this Division.
Pleas advice the procedure for this.

2 statistical forecast lines in one planning area

I would like one planning area to have two statistical forecast key figures based on two different history key figures.
You can assign only one key figure as a statistical forecast in a planning area, so it seems DP doesn't have a capability to create and store two separate stat forecasts.
Please let me know if you had an experience to configure the system in the way.

If you create a forecast profile (demand planning --> environment --> Maintain Forecast Profiles (/SAPAPO/MC96B )) , then you can use multiple forecast key figures in the same planning book and data view. Each profile will have a specified forecast key figure and historical key figure.

Planning area data not updated in infocube in APO system

Hi all,
User is uploading a flat file using addon program to an infocube 1, from this infocube data for sales forecast KF is getting transferred to a planning area KF using standard program RTS_INPUT_CUBE. I can see the updated data in Planning book (which refer the same planning area) data views. In planning book the sales forecast data is also getting copyied to second KF 'Arrangement FC' and its correct.
Now there is a infocube 2 (second) which is getting data directly from this planning area (infocube also contains both KFs). But When i checked this infocube 2 , the updated data is availabe in Sales forecast KF , but arrangement forecast KF is having old data only and user is running query on second KF , so he is getting wrong report.
Since there is no data flow for this infocube 2, and it is getting data from planning area, I feel its remote infocube.
I have also found the datasource for this planning area but don't know how to move further to find why data is not updating properly? Please help on this.
I have information that 2 weeks before data was properly updated, but this time data is not updated,
system version is SAP SCM 4.0

it is advisable to run the background jobs when the planning books are not being accesses by the users to prevent such inconsistencis. Hence i would advise you to run the jobs durng non-working hours. and if you have a global system, then you may restrict to run the jobs based on regional levels.
in addition, it is also a good practice to run consistency jobs before and after your have completed the background jobs. i hope you are using process chains to execute the sequeuce of jobs. if yes, then you can add consistency check jobs in the process chains.
some of the consistency check reports are :
/SAPAPO/OM17 - liveCache Consistency Check
/SAPAPO/TSCONS - Consistency Check for Time Series Network
/SAPAPO/CONSCHK - Model Consistency Check
and so and so forth..
you can find these conssistency jobs under APO Adiminstration --> Consistency checks in APO.

How to use Different Calendars in one DP Planning Area

Hi Experts,
I would like to know that whether it is possible to use different calendars in single planning area ? Will explain the scenario in details as under
We have 3 plants having separate calendars (different weekly offs). Now using single planning area in DP, I have to plan the demand for all the 3 plants in weekly buckets.So I need to refer to 3 different calendars in single planning area. Is this possible in DP ? As far as I know, we can attach only one fiscal year variant to the planning area through storage bucket profile. Also in this case, the system do not refer to public holiday calendar there by assuming all day working except the weekly off.

Thanks Sujay for immediate reply. The time bucket profile will just help me see the data in different buckets say Daily, weekly or monthly. However this still doesn't solve my problem. As only 1 Fiscal Year Variant is attached to the storage bucket profile, the system still will read the same profile for all the plants & will assume the same weekly off for all the plants which is not true in reality.
Any other suggestion for considering different weekly offs for different plants in the same planning area ?

download one key figure data from planning book ( interactive damand plan) and made some changes and need to upload the data back to same planning book
But, may I know why you are thinking of downloading, changing and uploading for just changing the figures for a particular key figure. You can do it in the planning book itself.
However, not all the key-figures can be changed. But, what type of key-figure you are speaking here? Is it like 'Forecast' for which the value is based on other key-figures, or is like a key-figure where some manual adjustments are to be done--so that it can be manually edited? However, in both the cases, the data can be changed in the planning book only. In first case, you can change the values of dependant key-figures and in the second case, you can change the key-figures directly.
And please note that you can change the values of the key-figures only at the detailed level. So, after loading the data in the book, use drill-down option, maintain the data at the detailed level, change the figures, and automatically, this gets reflected at the higher level.
In case you are unable to change the values, go to the 'Design' mode of the book, right-click your key-figure, under "Selected Rows", uncheck "Output Only" option. In case you are unable to see that option, then you are not authorised to change that. See if you can change the authorisations by going to the "Data View" tab in planning book configuration (/n/sapapo/sdp8b), and change the value of Status to 3.
Hope your query is answered with different solutions offered by many of the sdn colleagues here.
