Multiple Failures on Pavilion DV 6920

I replaced my old Acer aspire laptop with HP DV 6920 ea and I had a conception that I bought a good laptop  with Blue ray disk Rom and good features until things started getting worse one by one.
1. After a few months my laptop did not bootup at all and crashed completely. there was some hard ware issue with the hard drive and it had to be reseated.
2. My battery died in 8 months completely.
3. The touch pad is dead and the mouse click is not working and I am forced to use an USB mouse.
4. The over heating gives me a feeling of having a burning stove on my lap. I am inside an air conditioned room and still can't control the heat.
5. Customer care is useless. HP has let me down and am totally . After long I am realizing my mistake of replacing my ACER laptop which was far tooo trustworthy.

I have tested On Location in a multicam scenario, but I use one lap top for each camera. You could connect the lap top to each other with a normal network (LAN). You can split the recorded file in several files pressing "record" button while you record. Then you can copy files from one lap top to the another.
I have asked Adobe, but not get any answer how to handle the license issue in this scenario. It is not normally possible to buy On Location as a stand alone product.

  • USB EHCI chipsets causing Windows 7 x64 failures in Pavilion

I use Acronis TIH 2012 to backup the primary and logical partitions on my pavilion g6 notebook, currently running windows 7 x64 with 8Gb RAM.  I have a problem on this particular notebook, it looks like a hardware compatibility issue, and this query is about the USB hardware of the notebook compared to other pavilion machines. The problemI can successfully backup the primary partition (C: drive) of the internal SATA HDD to a separate logical drive on that internal HDD, but when I try to backup the C: drive to an external USB3 drive the backup starts, creates two 4.7Gb files (out of a usual 6 files in the set) on the external drive  and then fails.  Fails HARD - usually I need to completely remove power (mostly by removing the battery) and do a cold boot to get control back.  The failure seems to occur when the software thinks the usb drive has disconnected. The softwareThe TIH application is a 32bit item that works fine on a 32bit windows 7 platform (desktop and laptop) both using external usb3 drives as the target.  Those machines however only only 4gb RAM installed. Other software - eg windows explorer and demanding video editing programs - work fine using data on the external usb drive. Pavilion hardwareA member (joey) on the Acronis forum has reported a case where a specific combination - windows 7 x64, more than 4Gb RAM and the nvidia EHCI chipset - caused his Pavilion a6403 system to malfunction using an external usb3 drive with this combination. Microsoft issued a specific hotfix for this - see the Kb article here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976972which Joey reports as correcting the problem. The questionMy notebook and Joey's are members of the HP pavilion family.  Both use the same windows 7 x64 OS, and have more than 4Gb RAM.  Does my g6-2002 use the same nvidia EHCI usb controller chipsets as the a6403?  In short, could his problem and mine be the same one? Thanks, Davidk10

    Those few need extra drivers.
As they are USB3.0 ports: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=2025
Yea as I stated earlier, after installing these drivers all the usb ports stopped working in the current windows 7 install.

  • HD blower multiple failure

My question is what issues are expected with multiple HD blower failures?
The 1st HD blower was replaced after 16 months of use.
Then the 2nd HD blower was replaced within 30 days.
Then the 3rd HD blower was replaced eight months later, when it was also discovered that they installed a 27" HD blower instead of a 24" but that one only last two weeks before....
The 4th HD blower was installed.
Does anyone know what repairs, if any, are in the future for this early model 2008 24" iMac?
Wait... the ODD, LCD, CPU blower and temperature sensor cable have already been replaced. Yes, that is right, seven repairs already.

Nobody knows what the future will bring, but if it were my iMac & it had this history of repairs (& they all were done by Apple certified technicians) I would call AppleCare & (politely but firmly) make known my dissatisfaction with the quality of the repairs & of your particular hardware & ask what Apple is willing to do about it.
It is possible your iMac is a "lemon" -- poorly assembled or with defective original parts -- or that there is some as yet undetected problem that can be but as yet has not been corrected that is causing the eventual failure of other parts.
Even if Apple doesn't do anything now, documentation of the problems & repair history gathered together in one Applecare "incident" report (with a reference number you can refer to) may help in the future, beyond when the warranty expires.

  • Restore failure for Pavilion p6236f.

I am getting following error while I tried to restore by use recovery disc after changed to new hard drive because of hard drive failure before.
"Window setup could not configure windows to run on this computer's hardware".
I don't know what I did wrong. Please help.  My desktop is Pavilion p6236f.  Thank you.  Daykal

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion p6236f Desktop Computer. While this HP support page entitled "Cannot Recover the PC after Replacing the Hard Drive with an AF Drive (Windows 7 and Vista)" isn't for your specific computer, the advice still applies. Please check to see if your new drive is an AF (Advanced Format) drive to confirm that the above support page is relevant to your issue.
    It appears that if your new drive is an AF drive and your original OS is Vista, you are on your own in getting an OS back on the computer. Please see Paul_Tikkanen's reply in this HP forum thread entitled "No copy of my Vista Home Premium CD";
If you can read the 25 character Vista product key on your PC's case and want to make your own plain vista installation media, please read the info at the link below, click on the blue Windows Reinstallation Guide PDF link, and read the info beginning on page 296.
The Vista info starting on page 296 is good for any brand PC, not just Dell.

  • Start-Up Test failure on Pavilion DV6

I have a Pavilion dv6 and it has developed what appears to be a hard drive problem.
It usually starts OK but has started crashing and then trying to repair the hard drive.
I have run the Start-Up Test and it failed as per below:
    Memory test: PASSED
    SMART Check: PASSED
    Short DST: FAILED
    FAILURE ID: RLL7HH-5KJ71D-MFH14J-60RW03
    PRODUCT ID: LR733PA#ABG
    HARD DISK DETAILS:
    Toshiba MK6465GSX
    HP P/N: 594920-001
    260GB.
Is this simply a hard disc failure, or something more serious.
P.S. I have found that if I remove the battery pack for several minutes, the computer will start and run OK for upto 15 minutes..

Typically, a failed Short DST is an indication that the hard drive has failed or is about to fail. This is most likely a simple hard drive failure and not a sign of anything more serious. Replacing the drive with a new 640GB or larger drive should solve your issue. Once you install the new drive, you will need to use the HP Recovery Media you previously created to retun the computer to a factory like condition.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

  • Report multiple failures with TestStand reporting

I'm pretty new to TestStand so please bear with me. I'm using LabView to test a connector on a digital interface board. So I'm reading and writing dig. signals on say 15 pins in a test. I'm using TestStand to run my VI's. When a test fails TestStand seems to only report one measurement at a time. I want all of the pins that failed to show up in the TestStand report in a format like :
    InputPin:A1 OutputPin:B1 Expected:0 Read:1
    InputPin:a2 outpuPIn:b1 expected:1 read:0
I tried using the ReportText section of the TestData Cluster but I couldn't format it properly. All of the data sort of runs into each other like this
    input:a1 output:b1 expect:0 read:1 input:a2 output:b2
the carriage returns I tried to put in were i
    gnored.
Does anybody know how I can report a lot of failures in one report. I hope I explained properly. Thanks

    Hi,
Find attached an example using the MultipleNumericLimitTest step type.
All it does is use the array found in Locals call Digital as the DataSource for the Limits. You can check this by selecting the step and doing a right mouse click - select Edit Limits. Then select the Data source Tab. I have add 16 Measurements, one for each of the array elements.
This will give a you a result of each element of the array in the report for that step. But by default it will look like:
    Measurement[0] (Measurement 0):
    Limits:
    Low: 0b1
    Comparison Type: EQ (==)
    Data: 0b0
    Status: Failed
To get the format you require will mean modifying the report sequence file.
    Hope this helps a bit

  • Multiple failures after updates Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium

After loading the latest set of updates for my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit operating system and rebooting,   I am now experiencing a cascade of failures.  None of my network (wireless or ethernet) adapter or miniport drivers
will load.  my firewall will not load or has failed.  I cannot logon to my Event Viewer to figure out what failed and my Microsoft NET is giving me errors when I try to access anything that might help me figure out what went wrong.  So far I
have done a system restore back to before the update, but it did not fix the problems.  I have tried to use Microsoft Fix it, but that must access the internet.  I am sending this from a different computer because I cannot get online with the other.
Can anyone give me a clue where to start fixing these problems or do I have to completely reinstall my operating system?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
In this case, you can try repairing windows image using DISM command.

  • Hard drive failure on Pavilion dv6-6000 laptop (LT069AV)

I posted this as a reply on another thread (xxx).   Thought I might get a quicker response starting a new question.
Persistent BSODs and disk errors culminated in a "disk not found" error yesterday on my dv6-6000 laptop PC.  Windows 7 Home, Intel i5 processor, 6GB RAM.  I like the PC overall - nice screen and usually great performance.  I look forward to getting it back online as it serves as my work as well as personal computer.
So, I need to replace my hard drive and reinstall the OS with a an HP recovery disc that I have yet to purchase (I can't find a recovery disk I produced myself after several moves), and then restore using my cloud backup solution.
The HP part number for the SATA hard drive is 621046-001 (this is a 640 GB volume).  I noticed that a replacement for this drive is available at CPU medics for about $90.  Would I be foolish to order a replacement, having just experienced a drive failure with this part?  Should I look to other manufacturers and perhaps go with a 750 GB volume?  Also, do I need to replace with a 7200 rpm drive?  Is there any disadvantage if I went with a 5400 rpm HDD?
    Any suggestions?

You have options when installing Windows 7 to create partitions, you could just select the complete space & install as one partion then once installed use windows disc partition manager to adjust it to you requirements.
Windows 7 can be loaded to a memory stick & the link provided includes a tool to make the bootable memory stick.
Plenty of step by step guides on installing windows can be found on google, it is quite easy but first time is always going be slower due to learning curve, if you like super simple then hp recovery discs could be worth the money dor you.
Link below is guide on installing Windows 7, useful as a rough guide on what involved.

  • Multiple failure captions on one slide...?

Can anyone offer any advice with this please?
I use Captivate 3 to produce training for software applications. In the past I have tried to limit the amount of buttons and/or click boxes that have failure captions to a maximum of one or two per slide. This is purely to prevent the problem where a previous failure caption appears when an incorrect option is chosen later on in the same slide, even where the click box/button is clearly separated from the next one on the time line and the 'focus' is changed as well. This removed the problem but incresed the file sizes
So, in trying to keep the filesize of my software application movies down I have started building cp files where I have fewer slides with graphic elements appearing and disappearing throughout....the difference in the published files is huge but I now have the problem back where I may have several failure captions corresponding to several click boxes/buttons on the same slide. The 'bad behaviour' is that, again, the first failure caption will appear all the way through any incorrect choices made on any of the remaining click boxes/buttons on that slide.
I have separated all the buttons etc. from each other on the time line but the problem persists. Can I really only have one or two click boxes/buttons with a failure caption on each slide or am I missing something?

    Hi there
Have you examined the properties for the objects and enabled the pause for the failures?
    Cheers... Rick

  • USB and Smart Card failure on Pavilion zv5000

All USB ports will not work on my Pavilion zv5000 laptop.I bought a USB plug in to fit the card slot but even this does not work. Is there a simple problem of a fuse blown somewhere.

Check the device manager and see if it shows any exclamation marks for the usb hardware. The only way to know 100% is to reload Windows or try running the computer from a Linux live CD or perhaps a Windows preboot environment CD and see if the usb ports work in that arena. If they do you just have a software problem. But the zv5000s are prone to overheating and motherboard issues of all types.

  • Multiple issues with Pavilion x2 11

I have just bought HP Pavilion 11-h003sa x2 PC in my local Currys store. It was a display model, so they gave me full insurance for 1 month for free. I'd like to know if with the following issues I should return it all together, or send it for replacement, or there are some ways to solve those issues.
    1. Icons and windows shadowing.
If I have some windows open even for a few seconds, and then the screeen change to the plain one color, you can still see the shadows of the icons and windows that were open.  The effect disappears when the screen change to black, or some moving graphics are displayed.
    2. Sleep not working
After update to Windows 8.1 sleep function is not working. The screen turns off, but to turn it on again, you have to hold power for 10 sec. and then push it once again and whole system reboots. I'm using the most recent graphic drivers from your web page.
    3. Bios update issue
I have updated the laptop with the most recent Bios from the HP webpage. It all worked smoothly, after reboot it started counting and then asked "[Flash Dock EC]? ". If I pick yes, it updates something with percents, when it finish, laptop reboots and asks again. If I pick no, it goes straight to system, if I pick yes, percents go again. I tried to put all Bios versions you have on your webpage since and it didn't fixed it. I tried to apply them both through Windows exe and through HP Built in recovery tool. Bios starts after this question, so it's not a Bios issue. The only way to not see it on start is to unplug screen from keyboard. It's quite annoying.
Please tell me if there is any fix for those issues, or should I just return the laptop, or should I get a new one, since otherwise it's a nice piece of equipment and I'd love to keep it.

Hello MikeGold, welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you have a few issues with your notebook. I will try to help you with them.
Provided that you can still boot into your notebook (as you were having issues with the BIOS), make sure that all Windows updates have been completed. Then check to see if anything can be updated through the HP Support Assistant.
    1. This could be an issue with the actual display or graphics driver. If this wasn't updated at all from above. Please start by making sure this has updated. You can do so by going to this link Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver. Also, make sure that the chipset driver's up to date: Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver.
To look into issues with the display, this may also help: Resolving Problems with Notebook Displays (steps can be done with Windows 8.1).
    2. The previous updates may have already helped or corrected this issue. If it hasn't start by checking power management settings. Make sure that you're using the recommend setting. From there follow this document : Resolving Problems with Sleep and Hibernate Modes (Windows 8).
    3. I have two documents for you in regards to this task: Updating the BIOS, will help you on how to up date the BIOS (if still having issues, I recommend contacting support for help with this). To restore the BIOS back (if you choose to not update): Restoring the BIOS.
Please let me know how everything goes and provide details on any issues that remain (if there are any).
Thank you for posting on the HP forums.

  • Multiple failures after 2 HD changes

I bought an used Macbook about 2 months ago. The very next morning after I loaded all of my files into it, it crashed and I couldn't restart. I kept getting the little file icon with a question mark, which I later learned means that the startup disk couldn't be read or found. I took it to the Apple store and after a very quick look at the machine, got the hard drive replaced. They did all the data migration in-store for me.
Two months later, I am now living in Brazil, and the macbook starts to crash and exhibit the question mark at startup. I run a disk utility diagnosis (it eventually does start up after a couple of hours), and found that the disk needed to be repaired. I took it to an authorized technical support store here, they took 3 days to get back to me and say I had to replace the hard drive yet again. I tried to argue that it made no sense, but they said Apple had issued a recall for that model of HD, so I just let them do it. They wouldn't do the data migration for free, so I did it myself.
I borrowed an external HD, formatted a partition for use with Time Machine, did a full backup of the system before they replaced the internal HD. After I got the Macbook back, I tried to restore the system using Time Machine in the external HD. Problem is, after 3 hours of waiting around with no progress whatsoever, I chose to re-start the process and lost everything. I couldn't even see the MacIntosh HD startup disk. Nothing at all.
Next day, I brought the Macbook to another authorized Apple service store in another city. They took a look and said I just had to install the OS, there was nothing wrong with the disk. Sure enough, I got back home, booted from the OS disk and there it was, Macintosh HD! A disk utility check told me the disk needed to be repaired, I erased it completely and did a clean install of snow leopard. After that, I used the Migration assistant to get all my files, user accounts, and preferences into the Macbook. It seemed to work. This took me all day, yesterday.
By 11pm, the Macbook crashed again (spinning beach ball, not responsive to force quit). I had to shut it down by pressing the power button. Trying to restart, the **** folder with a question mark icon was back.... I couldn't even reboot from the disk image.
This morning, the Macbook start back up as if nothing had happened. I run a "verify disk" for the internal HD, it comes back clean. I verify the permissions, it comes back with several pages or problems, which I tell it to repair. Everything seems fine. However, after about 1 hour of using the computer (for work, mind you), it freezes up again and I can't even force quit anything. I am now wondering if it will crash again in another hour.
What do you think this is? I don't think it is a HD issue. After all, after 3 HDs, it could not possibly be that I always get the bad one in all of those different lots. I am thinking of wiping the hd clean again, installing snow leopard and then just copying the files and apps I need, leaving the users, preferences and all other crap behind. Do you think this will solve it or should I go back to the tech guys and deal with their total lack of customer service?

One additional phenomenon: once the gridlines appear , iTunes becomes very slow, and when I then minimize the iTunes window, the application stops responding completely.

  • Multiple Failures of iTunes

    Hi.
Don't know if anyone has seen anything like this - it's a nightmare. If so, I'm grateful for any help. Hmm, let's see - where do I start...
    1. I reinstalled my Vista PC from scratch.
    2. After installing iTunes it insisted collecting music from my entire PC. So what do I do
    (a) remove all the back-up copies individually from my music library
    - there is no option for sorting titles by file location
    (b) delete everything and re-import the files from the correct directory
I selected option (b) becasue (a) seemed unreasonable considering I have thousands of songs.
    3. I sync'ed my iPod Touch, thinking about it now, probably useless because deleting all music from the library probably emptied the playlists.
    4. On the iPod, I noticed that, while all or most of the music was still there, something was wrong with the album art. Looking further, I found cases where, in different views, one song was linked to wrong album art, wrong artist, and pretty much all playlists were completely confused.
    5. I restarted the device. No improvement.
    6. I reset the device. No improvement.
    7. I checked the playlists. As expected empty, but now there were some weird grid lines appearing in the table that definitely don't belong there.
    8. I reinstalled iTunes without deinstalling the existing copy - I get the wrong UI language.
    9. I removed iTunes and reinstalled it, now getting the right language, but the gridlines still there. With iTunes open, the performance of my PC goes down significantly. A couple of times, the application hung when I tried recreating the playlists.
    10. Artwork no longer shows in iTunes.
I gave up - hoping that someone here has some ideas.
    Regards,
