Multiple Hardware Inventories

Hi all -
I am trying to figure out some general best practices around hardware inventory, and had a few questions:
1. Do people generally create seperate custom client device settings for servers and workstations for the hardware inventory classes? Or even further of creating a new custom client devices setting and collection for certian hardware inventory
classes?
2. If yes in question 1 can you have two custom client device settings with different hardware inventory classes applied to the same device? Example given, one custom client device setting applied to all devices (workstations and servers) with certain
hardware inventory classes selected and then another custom client device setting applied to just workstations with additional hardware inventory classes selected?
3. Is the hardware inventory process pretty resource intensive? Meaning do people generally uncheck a lot of the default hardware inventory classes?
4. Anything else I should be aware of?
Thank you,

While on the subject, in the hardware inventory section, which out of the four classes do you normally check?

  • License Installation for Multiple Hardware Keys in SAP J2EE Engine

    Hi Everyone,
I have a question to ask that we have a Failover setup in our Client Enviornment.
But for SAP JAVA System I am seeing a Problem :
Whenever Failover will happen SAP System will be moved to different Hardware box
    which has different Hardware Key.
    1) In SAP ABAP Systems we can install Multiple Licenses for Multiple HArdware Keys
so that whenever Failover happens , no need to apply license for that Hardware key
    2) But in J2ee System under License Adapter , I am not able to see any option under the same
        to install another License
Under Licnese Adpater Service , I am able to see license of J2ee-engine_ora , maintanance_ora & Netweaver_ora licneses
    Thanks --
    Deepak Gosain

    Hi,
Try to paste the two licenses in the same file and then import the license file.
Not sure but give it a try it should work.
    Regards,
    Vamshi.

  • Multiple hardware in Logic?  Will it ever happen again?

I was just wondering if anyone out there has heard if Logic will be supporting multiple hardware boxes ever again.
For instance, you can have two MOTU 896's hooked up so you can have 32 inputs (using the ADAT inputs) at the same time. From what I've researched, it's a limitation of Core Audio and it was rumored that Apple was going to address it in OS 10.4 - well, maybe 10.5?
    Anyone got anything to share?

It is a pain in he proverbial, but it's for the best,ultimately.PCI-Express is far superior. I'm really not prepared to fork out £1200 for a Magma breakout box. Yes,Wormhole I'm aware of,and am looking at.I expect it to work OK. This might be the time fot me to ditch the MOTU's (which I was thinking of doing),and move over to Apogees and something like Dangerous for my analogue i/o's. I use a Firewire Powercore and is terrible,in terms of reliability.I frequently experience initialisation failures and whatever with it. The plugins are good, but it inhales sharply, reliabilitywise. You can't use the word s**k as a disparagement on this forum, apparently.Sad.
    Thanks for the input!

  • Working With Logic Song Files in Multiple Hardware Set-ups

    Hi all,
If anyone can help with this, I'd really appreciate it.
I am working on some music that I am leaving on my laptop. When in my home studio, I will handle audio I/O through my MOTU 828 MkII, with a PC-300 MIDI keyboard.
When on the move, I will edit and overdub with using the computer's soundcard and a portable MIDI keyboard.
My question is, are there any tips I should know about for making such an approach work smoothly?
I find that the system sometimes makes alerts and small errors based on the lack of the hardware that was connected that last time it was opened.
Perhaps there is a better way of approaching this that I am not aware of?
    Many thanks!
    Scott

There is absolutely nothing to worry about, when Logic gives you a warning that an audio setup has changed. Just click OK and keep going. As for MIDI keyboards, I suppose, they are usually automatically detected (provided you have their drivers installed on your system).
If you happen to work in different MIDI setups with, say, various different synths and drum-machines used, you can make 2 different Environments with all necessary objects configured, and save them in respective User Templates.

  • Multiple Hardware Issues

I'm using the first gen core duo black macbook with 2gb ram (approved compatiblity).
I've send my macbook to service two weeks ago, and the issues are still reccuring.
    Issues I've faced:
    Battery: No answers given.
Battery always calculating, the task bar will keep on showing calculating, charge, calculating, charged.... It also cannot hold charge, recaliberated, still cannot perform more than two hours running low process app like text document. (Don't doubt me.)
    Screen: Invertor board replaced
Screen flickers, blackout occurs, replaced Invertor board, screen still flickers on day 1 of collection.
    Wireless Lan: No answers given
My white macbook is comparatively receiving weaker signal compared to another white macbook of my mate's under many circumstances. Both were used under the same physical condition, place, exact position (e.g my own lap). The signals received by my macbook is relatively weaker by a bar or two.
    Processor: No answers given
When running office apps, (even when widget, background files not running) the processor will be driving at high speed so much that the macbook gets real hot (as high as 85˚c according to istat)
Occassional shut down: HDD replaced, still happens (Logicboard replaced before on its 2nd month)
New os installed, usage as per norm, either the black multi-language shut down screen shows up, or macbook hangs, or just shut down on its own (either running battery alone or while plug in power adapter)
    Please kindly advise..
    Austin

  • Planning a multiple hardware configuration

We are in the process of planning to deploy an additional job server on a separate machine.  The new machine will match the our original configuration.   Our current configuration uses the SAP/BW integration kit.
Is there anything we need to look out for while we are proceeding?  We are planning to deploy the Crystal Job Servers to the new system, and expect to be able to manage the new server(s) through our existing CMS. Is this a  correct assumption?

Yes, the assumption is correct, install everything in the same order as original install (you do not need web tier portion, but might want to install as well, just in case or for load balancing purposes). Install SAP IK.
If you did extended install, your new node should be already clustered to your original one. Just stop/disable/delete server you don't need in CMC on node2 and you're good to go.

  • SCCM Questions about offline clients

    All,
I wanted to provide some background on a project we are working on and provide some questions that hopefully someone can  help answer.
First I wanted to make note that as part of the requirements for this project we are going to have SCCM clients deployed at various locations offsite from our primary SCCM server and these SCCM clients will have only intermittent network connectivity back
to our primary SCCM server. During the times that these clients are lacking connectivity we will need the ability to do multiple manual hardware inventories of the clients with the expectation that once connectivity is resumed, ALL of the inventories taken
will report back to the primary SCCM server. Additionally, during the time that network connectivity is lacking we will need to be able to run SCCM reports regarding these clients local to the clients themselves (IE at the offsite location which won't have
network access to the primary SCCM server.)
Our proposed solution to these requirements was that we planned to provide the offsite location with a SCCM secondary site. The idea being that while network connectivity to the primary server was down the clients would continue to report their inventory
data to the secondary site and reports could still be run from the secondary site as well. Once network connectivity was resumed the secondary site would synchronize with the primary site and provide the primary site with all the missing hardware inventories.
I have since done further research and believe there are some flaws with this solution:
I am reading that secondary sites do not actually store inventory data in a local database like primary sites do.
I am reading that the “reporting services point” is not available on secondary sites, thus limiting our ability to run reports while network connectivity to the primary site is down.
With this I have a few questions:
How many inventories does the client save locally to the machine? Does it save all inventories triggered since the last communication with the server, or does it only save and transmit the last inventory that was collected prior to network communication
    being restored?
If it only transmits the last inventory collected, does the idea of having a secondary site work for storing the multiple inventories that we need to collect while network connectivity to the primary server is lacking, or is it true that secondary sites
do not store inventories in a local database?
Finally, if secondary sites DO save inventories locally, but we are NOT able to install the “reporting services point,” will we be able to get around not being able to run the default SCCM reports by instead running custom SQL reports directly from the
SQL Server installed on the secondary site?
    Thank you for your time,
    Ryan

Well, this is kind of a complicated project and I am not going to lie I know we are asking to use SCCM in a way that it was not designed to be used.
Basically these clients are training machines that will be reconfigured potentially several times a day. Essentially when a program runs that reconfigures the machine it will trigger a hardware inventory. Custom information about the configuration will be
saved in custom WMI classes that we have created which will be inventoried  by SCCM. We need the ability for if the customer says "I had a problem at 9am" for us to have them run a report that tells us which configuration was in place at 9am.
Because of this requirement there may be multiple hardware inventories taken in a single day.
Most of these devices will go MANY months between having networking connectivity back to our primary site. To be honest though some of these devices will be at locations in which they may need to be managed for 15-20 years without EVER having network connectivity
back to the primary site. The idea for these cases was that the secondary site located with the clients would store the inventories and at regular intervals we will have a SQL expert manually export the SQL data to a CD from the secondary site and re-import
it to the primary site. This is how the primary site will get updated without ever having network connectivity to the secondary site.
For all of this to work it is essential that the secondary site store the inventories in a local database. I am just not clear if that is how this works or not. It is also essential we can run reports for the secondary site. I am a little more clear that
the "reporting services point" is not installable on the secondary site; however, my thought is the machine still has SQL installed and if it stores the hardware inventories locally we may still be able to use custom SSRS reports to extract the data.

  • Multiple X colormaps vs display hardware

I am porting an X application from Solaris2.6/Sparc to Solaris 10/x86. The display application requires multiple (hardware) colormaps to correctly display images without "flashing".
Does anyone have a Solaris 10 x86 installation with a PCI (or PMC) graphics card interface that supports more than 1 hardware colormap? The command:
    xdpyinfo | grep colormaps
will show you how many maps your hardware supports. I would be grateful to learn of any Solaris 10 x86 PCI (or PMC) graphics hardware that supports at least 2 maps.
This gets a bit more away from a platform question, and into an X question, but:
How does the Xserver determine how many hardware colormaps are available? My X server says that my ATI Radeon 7000 hardware only supports 1 hardware colormap - could it be mistaken/"fibbing" about this capability? Perhaps just 1 colormap is a fallback default and can be changed?

I've no problems using the previous drivers... I have to say I think we're suffering from the immaturity of 64 bit drivers here. I suspect they just aren't robust enough to avoid conflicts, Creative's in particular seem to fall over in a number of systems. There seems little in the way of a pattern between problems systems except for the 4Gb of RAM, when you have that the problems occur.
Anyway, you could try a thorough uninstall (using a programme like driver cleaner), and reinstall; that fixed some issues for me. Alternati'vely try a previous driver, that really did work for me... wish I could say with confidence it worked for everyone though
    Gift.

You can use SMC for other purposes but it won't help your with RAID.
Sol 10 1/06 has raidctl which handles LSI1030 and LSI1064 RAIDenabled controllers (from raidctl(1M)).
Some of the PERCs (most?) are LSI but I don't know if they are chipsets used by your PoweEdge (I doubt it).
Generally you can break it down like this for x86:
If you are using hardware RAID with Solaris 10 x86 you have to use pre-Solaris (i.e. on the RAID controller) managment or hope that the manufacturer of the device has a Solaris managment agent/interface (good luck).
The only exception to this that I know of is the RAID that comes with V20z, V40z, X4100, X4200.
Otherwise you will want to go with SVM or VxVM and manage RAID within Solaris (software RAID).
SMC etc are only going to show you stuff if SVM is involved and VxVM has its own interface, otherwise the disks are controlled by PERC and just hanging out as far as Solaris is concerned.
    Hope this helps.

  • Loading multiple instance of a

    Hi,
I'm trying to develop a Java application with Avetana Bluetooth. This library is a complete stack for Bluetooth in Java. The big problem is the hardware interface: Avetana can get only one instance for each java application running on it. So, if I have multiple hardware interface on my system, I must run multiple JVM with my application...
This happen because the Avetana library have a lot of static variable to hold some reference to the bluetooth hardware.
The big question is: can I make some Java code to create & run multiple instance of my Bluetotth code, so each Avetana Library is TRULY loaded in a ISOLATED context (so the static variables are independent each from others)?
I've tryed with custom classloading but nothing...
Here is the code from main() on StaticTestClassLoader (a code used for testing).
MyBT is the Bluetooth class wich load the Avetana library on hardware interface (specified by the method initStack(int hardwareInterfaceID)).
URL[] url = { new File("subdir").toURL() }; // because MyBT.class is in the "subdir" folder
    URLClassLoader cl1 = new URLClassLoader(url);
    URLClassLoader cl2 = new URLClassLoader(url);
    URLClassLoader cl3 = new URLClassLoader(url);
    Class<MyBT> c1 = (Class<Dummy>)cl1.loadClass("MyBT");
    Class<MyBT> c2 = (Class<Dummy>)cl2.loadClass("MyBT");
    Class<MyBT> c3 = (Class<Dummy>)cl3.loadClass("MyBT");
Object bt1 = c1.newInstance(); // this is line 22 where exception rise up
    Object bt2 = c2.newInstance();
    Object bt3 = c3.newInstance();
((MyBT)bt1).initStack(0); // run my Bluetooth application on hardware interface #1
((MyBT)bt1).initStack(1); // the same but on hardware interface #2
((MyBT)bt1).initStack(2); // the same but on hardware interface #3No error while compiling, but when running:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: MyBT
at StaticTestClassLoader.main(StaticTestClassLoader.java:22)this happen if I didn't add on classpath the MyBT class in the "subdir". If I add it, it works but all three instance are in the same context and the library doen't load the right hardware interface...
If I omit the obejct assignement with bt1, bt2 and bt3 it works in both scenarios, but I haven't any reference to the new instantiated classes ...(so I can't call methods on there!)
Any idea, web link or suggestion?
    Thanks in advance, best regards,
    Francesco Pessina.

I think the question is detalied in an unclear manner. The substance of my question is:
    - I have some code in a library with static variables.
    - if I load (instantiate) this library one, twice or more, this static variables have all the same value because are static and live in the same JVM/context
    - the need is to load & use this library multiple time (two or more "instance" of it) from the same application in a single JVM.
So my trouble is to write some Java code that create a runtime different context spaces in the (single) JVM so I can run this "static" library more times (one library for each context).
I've tryed with classloader and singleton but all instantiated class have always the same context, so the library have (in all the created instance) always the same static variable values.
Sorry for my english, have a good new year!
    Regards,
    Francesco.

  • Hardware Inventory has stooped working

We had a contractor come in recently and performed some work on our System Center 2012 R2 server. Since he has left we are no longer performing Hardware Inventories. I have tracked down the problem to IIS and this particular log entry: 192.168.0.166 BITS_POST
    /CCM_Incoming/{519C57CE-3A98-43CB-8192-2E726BBB6718} (bits_error:,501,0x80070005) 80 - 192.168.7.41 Microsoft+BITS/7.5 - 501 0 0 1764 34
I have found a post that talks about this same error: http://methmal132.wordpress.com/2013/10/04/client-machines-not-sending-hardware-inventory-sccm-2012-2/
This article talks about the Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\CCM\Incoming folder not having sufficient rights on the virtual directory and it folders. Underneath the Incoming folder is another folder called BITS-Sessions and underneath that
folder are three more folders called CleanupGuids, Replies, Requests
Before I go changing rights I would like to know what the proper rights are for this folder and sub folders. Can someone help out?

looking at my own lab (just 1 server with all roles, so this may not be a good representation), ccm\incoming ntfs security is "Administrators" have full rights. and "SYSTEM" has full rights
    on ccm\incoming\bits-Sessions:
    Inheritance is not enabled.
    Administrators: full rights
    SYSTEM: full rights
Everyone: has "special" permissions of subfolders and files only
Keep in mind this is my lab... which means I mess with it.  I really don't know if those rights are normal or not.  Probably.. but I don't want to promise anything.
Suggestion: if you have the same rights, if your Management Point(s) aren't on the same server as your primary, you may want to just drop the Management Points' Computer Account into the local Administrators' group on the primary.

  • LVOOP and Hardware

I have a question about LVOOP and multiple hardware sensors of the same type.  I'm getting ready to dive into the world of LVOOP and was curious how to address something that seems like a fairly simple issue. I have a system that has multiple sensors, all of which are the same type and range.  After reading some about the HAL architecture I figured I'd start there as it seems to incorporate LVOOP as well as labview patterns that I'm more familiar with.  I'm using a crio and usually I would bundle all of these sensors into a cluster(s) and move them around and unbundle as needed.  That would give me a distinct identifier for each sensor.  I think I'm losing this simple concept when moving into LVOOP.
Should I make children classes of pressure_sensor_type_1 for each identical pressure sensor or should I just simply branch the wire as in wire_branch.png?  I know that I could just branch the wire and that would give me a new object, but I'm not sure how to reference these in other parts of my program, ie how do I distinguish pressure_sensor_type_1_#1 from #2 and #3.  If I do it this way, then it seems like I have a distinct way to keep track of each child class and it has a distinct name.
In LVOOP I seem to have the urge to break components down much further than I would before.  I’m not sure if this is correct or not.  One more issue is that I typically use a scan interface for crio development and NSVs to send data back to a host, does anyone have any suggestion for how to handle these variables within LVOOP as it seems to me that they break the encapsulation of OOP due to their network publishing.
I have attached really basic samploe code.  Thanks for any feedback.

You need to use a hybrid of your two proposed methods. If all of your sensors are of the same type they will be the same child class type. There is no need to define yet another child class just to differentiate instances of the class. If you have three sensors then create three instances of pressure sensor type 1. Your initialization can include a name or identifier. You could also put your sensors into an array or a cluster. The cluster element or array position would identify the specific sensor. If you do this though define the array element or the cluster element as the base (parent class), not the child class. This would allow you to add different types of sensors in the future and would not require any code changes to your array/cluster.
For something like a sensor your base class would not include the implementation for most of your sensor methods. These would need to be overridden by the children. The base class could implement generic items such as a Get-Name method or something similar.
When defining your parent class avoid putting methods there that will not apply to all children. The parent should only contain methods that will be shared by all it descendents.

  • WDS Across Multiple Offices with Multiple Computers

Im trying to set up WDS to deploy windows 7 pro across multiple computers. I work in a company that installs computers for dental offices. We have a master image and at the time to prep all computers we clone that image using Acronis. Is there a better
way to do this? Also will WDS allow me to deploy images to different types of PCs. Right now our image only works on newer computer but we constantly rebuild older PC's that get infected. Can I make a master Image that allows me to deploy it to any computer?
Lastly, could I do something to be able to deploy this into our offices, if so how? Would I need to set up all those servers?

    Hi JDAM-00,
    Are you trying to
create the universal image, which means .create a single image and deploy to multiple hardware. You were unable to create the universal image by sysprep tool it is not supported, but you can use MDT or WDS and inject drivers in the driver
store then it's possible to deploy the image.

  • Multiple input device recording/mixing help in Audition 5.5

I'm presently evaluating Audition 5.5 and haven't been able to find any information pertaining to what others MUST do everyday.
I'd like to use Audition to record simultaneous tracks from different sources (microphones).  I'm using several USB sound card dongles (each with a single 3.5mm stereo microphone input and headphone/speaker output) as quick and convenient method of creating an array of microphone inputs.  Each dongle appears as a discrete audio device with a corresponding input and output.
    Fine so far.
Where I'm struggling is in trying to map each microphone to discrete mixer channel.  I choose Edit->Preferences->Audio Channel Mapping, but it seems that only channels from any one particular sound device may be mapped to mixer channels at any time.  If I assign the microphone from sound card A to Track 1, I can't assing the microphone from sound card B to Track 2.  When I try, it alters the hardware device selection and negates any prior channels I've mapped that aren't part of the same device.  I hope I've explained the situation clearly.
I'd like to map the microphone from sound device (dongle) A to Track 1, the microphone from device B to Track 2, C to 3 and so forth.  But I cant' seem to figure out how to make Audition simultaneously recognize more than any one sound device at any particular time.
Is there a way to do what I'm trying to achieve?  Does Audition not support simultaneous mixing/recording from multiple hardware devices?  If not, do other products exist that DO support the configuration I'm trying to create which I can use as a front-end - to later mix-down in Audition?
I'd greatly appreciate any helpful insight, guidance, suggestions or recommendations.
    Thanks!

    remford wrote:
I'm not having any SYNC problems that I'm aware of...
Of course you're not - that's because the system prevents you having them by limiting the physical sources you can use!
Here is a brief explanation of the sync problem - I hope it makes sense:
When an input device digitises a signal, it has to provide a clock source for its A-D device. Normally this clock is locally derived, and the device outputs a digital stream at that rate. But if you have two devices (let's say that they were two external USB ones) both trying to be the input device, then their clocks won't be synchronised - inevitably. Audition, and all other software come to that, can only record at one rate, and if another device provides an input that isn't exactly at the same rate and phase as the one providing the master clock, then fairly soon, you get to a point where the data being inputted won't coincide with the main clock any more, and a bloody great click occurs. On older systems where you could use multiple devices, some allowed for the clock sources to be externally synchronised, and a lot of pro gear still does - it helps a lot when you are using digital mixers and external digital preamps if you can feed everything from a master clock, rather than daisy-chaining it.
When it comes to ASIO, Steinberg made the relatively easy decision not even to try to implement it for multiple devices. Instead, they suggest that you use a single device which is capable of supporting as many inputs as your PC can manage. As an example of how this works, my MOTU device that I mentioned above has eight analogue inputs, and also an 8-channel ADAT input. So, without too much trouble I can connect an external 8-channel digital preamp to it and have 16 inputs in total. It uses an optical connection for the ADAT, but to use it I either have to provide sync from the MOTU to the preamp, or use the preamp as the sync source for both itself and the MOTU, replacing the internal clock. With the only digital preamp I have it's this latter option that makes sense, as there isn't an easy way to get sync from the MOTU back to the preamp. (I should perhaps explain that the preamp has got a sync input, but the only sync output from the MOTU comes from its ADAT output, and that isn't easy to feed back in).
Yes, until you get used to it the concept of syncing devices takes a bit of getting used to - Steinberg's idea was to keep it as simple as possible, even though on the face of it, it's rather frustrating.

  • Features I would like to see in Capacity IQ

    Hi all,
I am currently implementing Capacity IQ in our virtual environment and I encounter some issue's. I know some probably will be solved by VCops however it is yet uncertain whether we will purchase that software.
    - I have 4 vCenters, so I need to log into Capacity IQ 4 times. This makes it hard to provide a Capacity Plan for over all my resources.
    - I have multiple hardware platforms in the same vCenter. Sometimes my managment would like to know what the remaining capacity is on a specific platform. I cannot select multiple clusters, so I need to provide a forecast myself.
    - Capacity IQ does not provide the intelligence for performing a what-if analysis on datacenter level.
    - Some of my clusters function as a DR test-cluster. Never running any machines only during the DR-test, which are scheduled frequently. I would like the option to exclude clusters in Capacity IQ's trend analysis. This way the DR-test does not mess up the trend analysis.
    - I cannot enter a custom account to schedule reports with(workaround logon to vCenter and schedule)
    - I need the reports to be written to a NFS/CIFS share somewhere, so I can serve them from there and anyone can go look for themselves.
Any ideas with regards to these issue's are much appreciated!
    Regards,
    Ad
