Multiple SMTP ports on one GWIA??

We currently are running SMTP on port 25 in GWIA and I have no intention of changing that, for obvious reasons. However, one of the big residential network providers in the area (AT&T/Bellsouth) has a policy of blocking traffic to port 25 on their network to anything but their own server, at least for residential accounts. Due to some of what I'll call legacy issues, we have a good number of users who are just using POP3/IMAP and want to be able to check their mail from home.
What I'd really like to do is to make another SMTP port available, say 26, which would get around Bellsouth's block. (I know that should work; I also have Bellsouth at home and use port 26 with another domain provider that I use personally.) In the GWIA properties on GroupWise > Network Address, however, it looks like I can only set one SMTP port. In this case, it would even work if the second port required SSL, but while separate ports seem to be available for POP, IMAP and LDAP they aren't available for SMTP. I've been telling users to just use the GWWA we have set up, but some of the big shots in the company want to use browsers on tablets that don't like the GWWA, so it'd be really nice if I could just get them to work with SMTP even when they're at home and on Bellsouth.
Any suggestions for how I can get GWIA to listen for SMTP on two ports, 25 and some other port, whether or not that other port requires SSL or not? Is there some manual config file I can override the default ConsoleOne settings with? If there are any recommended tricks I'd love to hear 'em... thanks in advance!

In short, you can't - it is an enhancement request that I and others
have had for some time...
On the other hand if you create a second GWIA, change that so that it
listens on 587 (SMTP Submission Port) with SSL Required and then have
it relay out via your other GWIA you will achieve what you want.
However, please PLEASE ensure that the POP, IMAP and SMTP all have the
SSL set to required so that your users do not send user names and
passwords in clear
Thanks

  • Can I use a USB hub to connect to multiple USB ports from one GPIB-USB-HS?

I have one instrument which has a GPIB-USB-HS connected and the USB cable is connected to a USB hub. Can I have multiple PCs to connect using USB hub at their respective USB ports? If so, how many PCs can I connect using the USB cable?
I have downloaded the latest NI-VISA from the website.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You would first need a hub that allows you to switch between multiple pc's and then only one pc at a time would be connected and in control.
When you buy this special type of hub, one of the specs is how many pc connections it has.

Can anybody confirm that you can have only one listen port defined for a single

    Thanks

you can have multiple ip's assigned to the same box
and bind each WLS instance to a unique which will listen
    on the same port.

  • Can I setup multiple SMTP servers / emails with one IMAP servers on the iPh

All my email arrives at one place, on one IMAP server. However I have 2 email addresses, and need to use a different SMTP server for each one. How to setup this on the iPhone? This is what I considered so far:
    1. I don't see how to enter multiple addresses for the same account, and map each address to a SMTP server.
    2. If I create multiple accounts, I have to enter multiple IMAP server, and the iPhone doesn't let me enter the same IMAP server information for different accounts.
    3. I could create a second account with a dummy IMAP/POP server, and a real SMTP server. But then most likely if I respond to mails that arrive on my IMAP server (1st account), Mail will always use my 1st email address when responding. Instead I'd like it to automatically pick as From the To address of the mail I am responding to (as the desktop Mail.app does).
    Alex

If you have multiple SMTP servers available, you can select from one of the available SMTP servers for a particular account.
After you've entered the SMTP server for the first account when creating the 1st account and you've entered the SMTP server for a 2nd account when creating the 2nd account, you'll have both SMTP servers available to use with either or both accounts.

  • Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.

Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.
I'm NOT in any way a Terminal Services expert and I need help trying to get an application program working in a multi-user environment.
The issue is that the printer changes for every user that is logged in. The application needs to print NOT to the default printer, but to a "special" printer which is selected in the application... let's call it a label printer to simplify the explanation.
You have your default regular printer, easy for the application to find that one, and then you have a special printer that labels get printed onto. The application needs to know what printer is the label printer. So we allow the user to select that in the
application and the selection is stored in a config file in
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
I don't have access to the application so I can't change how this works.
In the "regular" world, selecting the label printer driver to use should be per machine, NOT per user. When a new user logs into a machine, the physical printer doesn't go "poof" and a new printer suddenly appear. Same printer for all
    users.
Yet in terminal services, the physical machine is "merged" with the virtual machine on the server. And there can be many users logged in at the same time. So each users real machine (and real printer) is injected into the "fake" terminal
services machine. The name of the printers is made unique for each user. So the printers DO go "poof" and change names depending on the user logged into terminal services.
So user "A" logs in and sets up the application to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" (or whatever the name of the printer happens to be), that setting is stored in the ProgramData subfolder, and all is well. Later, user "B" logs
in, and when they print, the application tries to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" which doesn't exist for user B or is only accessible by user A. If user B re-configures, that breaks it for user A.
SOLUTION 1: The way that /should/ work (in my mind) is that you define one "generic" printer in Terminal Services... call it "Virtual Label printer" and when the user wants to print to it, the print job gets re-directed back to whatever
physical printer is actually connected to their local workstation. There is a map of virtual printer to actual printer depending on the current user. The application is told once to print to "Virtual Label Printer" for all users.
SOLUTION 2: Or... there should be some way to make the ProgramData sub folders separate per user. E.g. when user "A" tries to access:
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    they actually get
    C:\UserData\UserA\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    and user "B" gets
    C:\UserData\UserB\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
So the question I have is: Does either of those solutions exist hidden somewhere in the setup of terminal server? Or is there another way around this issue that I don't know?

I don't really have a "for sure" answer to this, but because people here can't seem to deal with a question that hasn't been answered I'll provide the best answer I did receive from ServerFault.com user Nathan:
I can feel your pain with using old software on terminal servers ...the solution I've come up with definitely won't scale as it requires some manual configuration, but I've gotten this method to work with our label printers (which require to be
printed to an LPT port...yep, that old).
Share your USB-connected printers to the network on each machine. Then, have the user log in on aunique session for each of them
(a TS account cannot be shared among computers for this to work) and install a network printer pointing to the USB one they shared. Try to use a DNS name to account for possible DHCP movements.
After, it should work. Each user can do this since display names can be identical as long as the ports are different (which they are).
This was clarified by the following series of comments:
I think you are on to something here, and I originally advised the admin to do this. The problem he ran into is that it setup the printer names in the TS as "printer on usersworkstation"
and he could not rename it except to change the "printer" to whatever. E.g. the "on userworkstation" remained. I believe there is another way of installing the printer which avoids this, but I can't find it. Ages ago, one used to do NET
USE LPT2 \\computer\printer password /USER:domain\user /PERSISTENT:YES and then tell the driver to print to LPT2 –  James

@JamesNewton That's actually the exact method we used. The way around the "network printer" part is to install it as local printer and map it to a TCP/IP port that way. –  Nathan

You mean in the case where the printers are TCP/IP connected and not local USB / LPT to the users workstation? That makes sense. Wonder if this will work for USB connected printers... –  James

@JamesNewton You'd share the local printer on the client's PC then on the server connect via TCP/IP to it. You'd need static addresses or use DNS names if DHCP, though. –  Nathan

  • How to configure multiple smtp servers per domain

    Hi,
how do we configure multiple smtp servers per domain/corporate in iplanet messaging server 5.2. i wanted to do this so that i can configure some domains with virus scanning and some domains without antivirus.

    Hi Martin,
Well we are trying to run a report without exactly specifying the name of reports server anywhere, e.g. in database or in form or anywhere else. Now if I do not supply a reports server name using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT, the error it displays is FRM-41211: Integration Error : SSL failure ... However if I specify the reports server name in the form, the reports run perfect. Also the name of reports server is specified in rwservlet.properties.
Now the question goes as follows:
Can I run my report from Form without specifying the name of the Reports server anywhere at all. This is so because either an in-process reports server should be picked or the one which is entered in rwservlet.properties should be pickec up by default. Please correct us if we are wrong. once we are through with it, we have to move to Oracle 10gR2 concept of reports server.
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Ruchi/Saurabh

Possibly by using an Airport Express, but depends on what type of port connection the printer requires.

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account.  The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

  • How can I see / change the smtp ports in use by FF 12.0 on my WIN2K antique?

My webmail account works, though slowly, when I'm using NetScape 7.1. When I try to use the same program and service with FireFox 12.0, I can receive email, but sending email gets me an error message that's something like "Could not establish an SMTP commection with the server." The service tells me that my outgoing smtp port should be 465 if I'm using SSL, and 25 if I'm not using SSL. Also, if I'm asked about "authentication," it should be "the same as incoming." Where do I find these settings in FF12.0?
I'm asking this question on another computer, not the one I'm having trouble with. My problem child is an IBM Aptiva running Windows 2000 Version 5.0 (Build 2195; Service Pack 4) Copyright 1981-1999 Microsoft Corp. Physical memory available to Windows: 64,824 KB

Gingerbread_Man, you were right on the nose with the answer to the problem. After I installed Simple Mail v. 2.83.2, my webmail began to work with Firefox v. 12.0. My s-l-o-w computer is now a bit faster, as well, though I don't know how that could have had any connection with Simple Mail. Oh, Telga, TechnalXS, the developer, changed versions to 2.84 while I was installing 2.83.2, so I started over and finished up with the new one. What had me going was that every time I tried to print a copy of their web site, Firefox crashed and burned. Had to be that document, because other things print just fine. Anyway, thanks for your help. I'm going to recommend that Santa put you on his "good list!"

  • How to submit data from multiple Input Ports in single SUBMIT button  click

    Hi,
    I am in SPS8.
What exactly steps I need to perform to submit data from multiple Input Ports.
I couldn't able to submit One input Form and one Input Table to BAPI data service in single SUBMIT button click.
I debugged the VC application in SPS8.
While debugging, I found that when I click the SUBMIT button in the Input Form, Only data in that Input
form are being passed to the BAPI, But not the Table Form data.
If I click on the SUBMIT button in another Input Table, Only data from that table is being passed to the BAPI, but not the Input form data.
Essentially I need to submit both of them in one SUBMIT button.
    Thanks,
    Ramakrishna

    Ramakrishna,
From the word document that you sent to me the steps you are missing to map the appropriate information into the BAPI is first you are not mapping all data rows into the table input port. To do this double click on the input table view and change your selection mode from single to multiple. Then when you click on your link between the BAPI and your input table you will see a new option appears under data mapping "Mapping Scope" select All Data Rows.
That's the first part of the problem to get the BAPI to recognize both the inputs coming from the form and the table eliminate the submit button from the form. Drag and drop a link from the output port of the table view to the Input port of the BAPI. Double click on the link between the BAPI and the table view and open the expressions editor for the two fields:
    1/ Automatic Source
    2/ SKIP_ITEMS_WITH_ERROR
On the hierarchical folder structure on the right expand expand the Data Fields node to find the fields from the form and map them accordingly.
Now when you hit the submit button on your table it should pass the BAPI all the parameters from both the form and the table.
    Hope this helps,
    Cheers,
    Scott

  • Mailserver using non-standard smtp port

how do i set SMTP to accept connections on a non-standard port (i.e. 2525 or something)?
i'm running a mail server and my residential isp (comcast) after ten years of peaceful coexistence decided that they need to block port 25. so i am setting up a commercial store/forward mail relay service. all i need to do is set up my snow leopard server to accept incoming connections on a port other than 25. sounds easy. it is mentioned in the docs thusly:
"By default SMTP is enabled on port 25. If port 25 is blocked in your environment,
you need to change the port SMTP uses."
... but that's all i can find. specifically, it doesn't say exactly how to change the port.
    any help appreciated.

following up to my own post. hoping this info may be useful for others who face the same issue who are running a server and then having email ports blocked by their ISP's.
i worked around this by signing up for a mail relay service (i use the one provided by dnydns.com). they forward incoming mail for my domain over a nonstandard port.
since i never received an answer to my question about how to make SnowLeopardServer email server accept SMTP connections on other ports, i simply used port mapping in my router (Airport Extreme) to redirect this port (i used 2525) on my WAN address to port 25 on my server - an acceptable workaround.
i also did the same port redirection for the other "standard alternative" smtp ports, 465 and 587.
since my ISP blocks port 25 in both directions, i also needed to find a work-around for outgoing mail as well. previously, my mail server simply forwarded to my ISP's smtp server (using the default port 25). here the Server Admin interface worked but with one "trick": under Mail>Settings>General, i left the box for "Relay outgoing mail through host:" checked, and in the field there i put "[smtp.myispdomain.net]:587" (that is with square brackets, and a colon, but no double-quotes - and of course, use your own smtp server's domain name). afaik this is not documented anywhere in the apple-provided docs, but i found the corresponding docs for postfix, and reverse-engineered it.
so now i can read (via IMAP) and send (via SMTP) mail from my home server, both when i am on my LAN and when i am accessing remotely, and effectively work around the bi-directional block of port 25 imposed by my ISP.
i'd still like to know if there is a method of configuring smtp to accept connections on ports other than 25. i can see how to do it by editing /etc/postfix/master.cf, but afaik that file gets overwritten by Server Admin...

If you want to have multiplie servers in the same machine and you want to cluster them then you need ip for each instance.
If you want multiple instances without clustering, then you can have them run on the same ip but each one should have a different port.

If you are accessing the ejb/services on the same server using a servlet. You can get the context, simply using the default getInitialContext(). This should return the context to the local machine. This shoudnt require any ip information.
