Multiple solution Manager

hello
We are in the process of implementing Solution Manger in our system landscape.
Is it possible to have multiple Solution Manger running on different physical server for the same landscape?
Kind Regards
Mohammad

Did you find any info in this link about running multiple solution manager's (SM), as I haven't.
We have two Data centres, with productive systems in one & DEV/QA in another.
I have configured SM in production datacentre to run Autoreaction alerts, sending emails & FTP messages to Mainframe console for errors, and have added a 2nd SM instance in our DEV/QA environment.
I now want to separate the alerting out between the environments, and also have the DEV/QA SM monitor via CCMSPING the Productive SM.
(With failover available.)
The problem I have is getting different systems registered to the relevant environment.
I have changed the cmsconf file to put the relevant SM CENs as primary & secondary, but they still show up in RZ21 topology as both registered with both.
Anyone else running multiple SMs?
Many thanks

  • Quality Center Adapter - Connecting Multiple Solution Manager Systems

We are running Solution Manager 7/Enhp 1 and Quality Center 10 successfully using the Quality Center Adapter integration. My question is, can we connect multiple Solution Manager systems (i.e. SMP/SMS/SMX) to a single Quality Center server simultaneously? Or is there a one-to-one relationship restriction. Thanks.

I have answered this question in this post below:
    http://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2110531&messageID=10962875#10962875
    To quote myself
Each tie up is based on the logical ports at the Solution Manager end and the relationship between the two entities is between Projects. So if you set up the configuration like you would in a normal scenario and at the right moment, connect the projects in SolMans to the corresponding projects in HPQC, you should be fine.
    Hope that helps.

  • Multiple Solution Manager Connectivity to 1 Satellite system

    HI..
I have a requirement. There is already an existing landscape with solution manager ECC, BI etc. The solution manager is configured for EWA, Maintenance optimizer etc. I now have to install a new solution manager and connect it to the same set of satellite systems so that I receive the EWA, configure MOPZ again. Will this create any kind of a problem and technically how can we do it? I have two ideas for this scenario
    1. Connect the new solution manager to the same satellite systems and do configuration as normal. Got this idea from the below link but not sure how it will work.
Re: send EWA report to more than one solution manager
    2. Is it possible to push data from the existing solution manager to the new solution manager?
Would highly appreciate technical suggestions. Thx in advance for your help.

    Hello,
You need the SMD Agent in order to have ABAP data going to the Solution Manager. Some RFCs are established directly from Managed System to the Solution Manager to extract E2E Change Analysis, Exception Analysis. The Workload Analysis and Host Information (SAPOSCOL) is extracted from WIly EM
Having that said, you can imagine that you cannot have only RFCs and you cannot have only data extracted from WIly EM.
I suggest you to take a look at the FWK Administration in the solman_workcenter, choose the Managed System tab, and start looking into the details of each extractor. Some have an RFC destionation, others have SOLMANDIAG. The SOLMANDIAG are coming from the Solution Manager Java stack, which is responsible to poll the Wily EM.
The reason you need two SMD Agents is because the SMD Agent connects to the ABAP stack, retrieves data, and then connects to the Wily Enterprise Manager. The Solution Manager polls data from the Wily EM and persists it in the BW.
The SMD Agent doesn't support connecting to two Wily EMs at the same time.
So it is required to have TWO SMD agents polling data from the ABAP stack, at the same time, one of them reporting to one Wily EM, and the other reporting to the other Wily EM.
Each solution manager has it's own Wily EM, and it will pull the ABAP data from the Wily EM.
It is not possible to make the two Solution Manager's connect to one Wily EM, since the setup framework needs to see a SMD Agent available to run the setup wizard and to create the destinations. So each Solution Manager needs a SMD Agent running in the physical host.
I hope it is clear for you.
    Best regards,

  • Is it possible to connect a DEV System to more than one SAP Solution Manage

    Hello,
My system DEV is already connected to a first SAP Solution Manager, I would also like to reconnect the same system so that it communicates and will be monitored by a second SolMan.
Is it possible to do so and the do the operation involve any risks ?
    Thanks for your help
    Regards
    Ben

    Hello,
This is possible in many scenarios. Often this is done to distribute load, for example on Solution Manager will do the Service Desk Function, one may do ChaRM, one may be doing Monitoring & Reporting, one may be doing Diagnostics.
In these cases a managed ssytem can be connected to many Solution Manager systems.
However as Mateus has pointed out, you cannot connect one managed to two Solution Managers and do SMD on both Solution
Manager systems, but you can have more than one Solution Manager doing Diagnostics.
Even in the case of EWA, while you can connect a Managed system to multiple Solution Manager systems and have then generate a report, one of the Solution Manager systems must be defined as the Master.
So the specific scenario may place some restrictions on connecting a managed system to more than one Solution Manager,
but for most instances it can be done.

  • SAP CRM Multiple Backend Scenario with Solution Manager

    Dear Experts,
We are implementing CRM Middleware - Multiple Backend Scenario (MEP / MBE Concept) in our client landscape for SAP CRM on HANA (Ehp3)
    set-up.
And If any one of you have already implemented MEP Scenario in the SAP CRM Landscape, Could you please help us to provide with the Configuration Steps / Documents, so that we can proceed further.
    Below are the following Queries:
    For Customizing Adapter Object:
    1) Does MEP Concept support the Customizing Adapter object to download from more than one ECC System to single CRM System.
If Yes, Could you please provide the Configuration steps or Procedure to download the customizing data.
    For Master Adapter Object:
    2) The Adapter objects for Master Data like Customer and Materials are technically supported under MEP for the data exchange.

  • How to open multiple Sessions in Solution Manager

    Good Day Gurus,
I am currently working on Solman 7.1 Sp12.My question is :Is it possible to open multiple sessions in Solution Manager? Here is the scenario: The client is working on multiple incidents and instead of logging on to the system again to access the 2nd incident he would like to open another session within the current call he is working on.
Is this functionality possible in Solman? I have seen the functionality working before  in CRM interaction center not sure if it applies in Solman.
    Your help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Maria

    Hi Maria,
Options to Call a Function in an SAP System, by entering transaction codes in the command field, the transaction in bold is the one your want for opening multiple sessions.
You can use the F1 key on the command field to display the following possible entries:
/N to cancel the current transaction
/NXXXX to call transaction XXXX directly from another transaction. Without the prefix, you can only call XXXX from the SAP Easy Access screen.
/O to display the overview of the SAP GUI sessions on your computer
/OXXXX to call transaction XXXX in a new window directly from another transaction
/NEND to end the log on session with a confirmation dialog box
/NEX to end the log on session without a confirmation dialog box
/I to delete the window you are currently using

  • Download of multiple documents from Solution Manager

Is there a way to download multiple documents from Solution Manager SOLAR01 project documentation tabs from multiple nodes rather than going one by one?

    Hi,
At the application there is no such functionality but I belive if you try to download it directly from knowledge warehouse, you'll be able. You'll just need to pay attention to which folder is stored the documents. For this check the wiki page for documents in solar01 and solar02.

  • Multiple Duplicate Jobs in Solution Manager.

    Greetings,
We see duplicates of Job CCMS_CPH_AGGR_DATA_UPDATE and CCMS_CPH_RAW_DATA_UPDATE in our Solution Manager.
I understand these jobs are used to transfer data from the CCMS monitoring infrastructure to the associated BI of the SAP Solution Manager. The data is written directly to a number DSOs. Job CCMS_CPH_AGGR_DATA_UPDATE should be scheduled once every day and Job CCMS_CPH_RAW_DATA_UPDATE should be executed every hour.
However, we see huge number or duplicate jobs. I wanted to know if it’s alright to delete the duplicates?
    Thank you,
    Haseeb Ahmed.

Hi Roland, Thanks for your reply. These jobs are completing successfully and No errors have been recorded. In our Solution Manager System, we see Job CCMS_CPH_RAW_DATA_UPDATE and CCMS_CPH_AGGR_DATA_UPDATE has been created multiple times by user SM_EXTERN_WS. There are like hundreds of same jobs created. Since these are weekly and daily jobs, it does not make sense to keep them all. I wanted to know if its okay to clean-up the duplicates or not? I don't understand why duplicate jobs were created and is there a specific case when once of them will be active? Thanks, Haseeb Ahmed.

  • Using central Solution Manager for monitoring multiple customers

    Hello,
We are working on monitoring SAP systems of several customers. For every customer we have configured central monitoring on Solution Manager system of that customer. All satellite systems are added to RZ21 and CCMS agents are configured correctly. On the Solution Manager, in RZ20 we have created a rule based monitor specific to the needs of customer, and that monitor is used for the whole landscape of every customer.
But now I need to configure our central Solution Manager system which will collect CCMS data from all satellite systems of all customers on one place in RZ20. That central Solution Manager system should have direct connection only to customer Solution Manager systems and not to their satellite systems. Is this possible? If yes, can you please explain me how to do it or point me to documentation? I was unable to find solution.
To make this more clear I made a picture of desired configuration:

    Hi Dejan,
as far as I know this is not possible.
we had similar issues, every time we migrated a new customer to or datacenter. Our solution was, to register the CCMS agents to two systems for a period of migration.
Sometime ago, I found a question for that an SDN:
Using another CEN for Solution Manager
I know, that this is not your question exactly, but it is the right direction...

  • System landcape in large enterprise with solution manager

    Dear Guru,
Do you have any ideas of how to set up Solution Manager in a big national enterprise?  Let's suppose
a big company has a headquarter and serveral branches.
Every branch has its ERP, BW, etc,  do you think it is better to set up respective Solution Manager system
for each branch or just create a powerful one centrally in the headquarter. Of course the latter means
less management but more authorization seperation related actions.
Is there any recommendation for this situation? Your opinion and insight is highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ray

    Dear Gugu,
I know Solution Manager support some scenarios for multiple customer .e.g VAR in service desk.
But is it possible for hide solution or project infomation, especially content of respective business blueprint
    to different customers?
I mean we want to use one single Solution Manager for multiple customers, but customers do not want their
owned document and business process information shared with other customers.
e.g.  one customer log on to SOLMAN, then he could view project or solution information of other customer,
furthermore, he could also build up his business blueprint referring to other customer's  business blueprint.
Is it possible to segregate this infomation?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hello,
Please check SAP Note 1577909, point 3.
    Quoting from the Note:
Load the current SAP Solution Manager 7.1 stack DVD from the SWCenter on SAP Service Marketplace.
Installations and Upgrades -> Browse our Download Catalog -> SAP Technology Components -> SAP Solution Manager -> SAP Solution Manager 7.1 -> Installation and Upgrade -> [OS version] -> [DB version]

  • Question about Alert Framework in Solution Manager

    Hi all,
We are planning to use Solution Manager as Central Monitoring Server, so I want to know what the advantage to use Solution Manager is, especially in Alerting.
We can define auto-reaction methods for monitors to send CCMS alerts to Alert Framework where the alerts can be forwarded to the personal responsible via Email or CCMS.
Is there any difference when using Solution Manager? Which additional functions dose Solution Manager provide in alerting?
In normal SAP Alert Framework, you can only define one receipt for escalation. Can Solution Manager support multiple level escalation? For example, an alert is sent to A, if the Alert is not confirmed by A, then the alert is forwarded to B automatically. The same way the alert can be forwarded to further persons.
    Any idea?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Hui

    Hi Hui,
On my opinion there is no any advantage in useíng SAP Solution Manager as central alerting systems in respect to RZ20. The arguments are as follows:
    - in SAP Solution Mnager you have performance restrictions on number of alerts to be displayed in one screen caused by the fact that the alerts are displayed in HTTP format
    - All the customizing in SAP Solution Manager for System Monitoring is Solution specific and not transportable. It means that if you have got corrupted your system monitoring session (that happens not seldom) your settings are lost. If you have created another Solution for the same systems you have to perform customizing from the scratch
    - Customizing is also not very esay to do. I would do recommend to use "User defined Alerts" Please have a look at the SAP Note 1023959 fro this topc
    - SAP Solution Manager does not provide alerting mechanism -> you have to relay to ALM in any case. Here by the way to your second question I would say that it is possible implement exactly process you have described. In the ALM category you can use button escallation to define another person that would be informed via e-mail in case the first Recipient have not completed alert from this category within predefined time
+ The only feature that is unique with System Monitoring with SAP Solution Mnager is the possibility to change threshold values for all the MTEs / MTE Classes that are defined in User Define Alerts an one button click
At the conclussion I would say that there are some custommers that are using SM as monitoring platform But more pragmatical would be to configure RZ20 with help of Rule-based alerts and self- defined system groups and use ALM as alerting infrastructure. In this case you can save in plain XML file your Alert configuration and export it in any other system. ALM has on my opinion enogh functionality for alerting

  • 1 Solution Manager System - Mulitple Companies.

    Hi All,
Please provide some input/information regarding one Solution Manager system with multiple companies.
    Situation:
We currently have one Solution Manager system(SMP) that belongs to a main company. Under this company there are 5 separate companies. Each company including the main company has multiple SAP systems with different landscapes. Main Company - ECC6 landscape, BI 7.0, Portal, XI and HR Landscape. All other companies have their unique systems/landscapes with their own support personnel.
    Issues at hand:
How do we setup Solution Manager to run multiple companies? Do we setup different Solution Landscapes and add each company systems to their own landscapes. How does this effect Service Desk/Charm setup ?
We also want to implement Service Desk / Charm / EWA and all the other functionality that is available in Solution Manager. Is there any advise on this issue and what are the potential pitfalls.
Is it possible to be setup multiple clients and have each company work in its own client.
I would appreciate any advice and information that will assist us with making an informed decision on the best way to proceed with this. I have done research and cannot find any information pertaining to this type of scenario. I'm hoping there are other customers that have a similar problem/issue.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ricky

    Dear Ricky,
You are right. You sould create multiple solutions u2013 a solution for each company. Each solution comprises the landscape (systems) relevant.
I don't think setting up multiple clients and have each company work on its own client is a good idea. The solution manager supports monitoring and managing multipal solutions. By creating multiple clients you are loosing the advantage of one-point-of-entery. Besides, a lot of the customization in the SolMan is cross client.
    Regarding the service desk:
You may create a sold-to-party business partner for each of the companies (transaction BP) and assign each sold-to-party only to the relevant system/iBase in transaction IB52. This will allow you to screen the messages in the service desk by a sold-to-party/company.
    Regarding the EWA:
The EWA monitors the systems in the solutions. You may have as many solutions as you want.
    Regarding the Charm:
Sorry, we didnu2019t implement it yetu2026 you should keep asking abour that.
If you would want to use Business Process Monitoring - this is solution based, so I don't see any problem there.
    Hope it was helpful.
    Good luck!
