Music isnt recognised by nokia 5230

when i put music on my memory card it isnt recognised by the music app. does anyone know what is wrong.
also when i use pc suite or ovi music on my computer to put a playlist i keep getting errors.
for ovi music i get "none of the tracks you are trying to transfer will fit on your nokia 5230". it says i have 0.0kb even thought i have 25mb and 500mb on my memory card.
on ovi suite i get a message saying "unable to copy to phone". does anyone know what to do

how can i delete corrupted music files on my nokia 5230 ..

Nokia 5230 "Nuron" and Music Player (under 20.8.007)
Corrupt file data was displayed under Albums, Artists, All songs, Genres and Composers within the Music Player application.
By removing the memory card, it was verified that the corrupt data was stored on the card.
The corrupt data was successfully exterminated by formatting the memory card. No other method was successful.
**Warning** Back-up the handset using PC/Ovi Suite before formatting the memory card or you will lose data. (Alternatively, if you use the Backup function of 'File manager' on the handset, the hidden 'Backup' directory must then be copied from the memory card to a computer using a third-party application, like 'X-plore,' available from the Ovi Store.)
Open 'File manager'
Select (by touching) the 'drive' that contains the microSD memory card (E: )
Open the 'drive' you selected (Options \ Open, or touch the selected 'drive' again)
Format the 'drive' from the Options menu (Options \ Memory card options \ Format)

Nokia 5230 nokia music library problem

Hi everyone
i am using nokia 5230 ..the problem is whenever i select option REFRESH LIBRARY the devive is unable to load new music files which i have tranferred to memory card using PC suite...music player is unable to load music files which are stored in memory card...
plz help me...i even updated the phone software but unable to solve this problem.......but other files such as videos and images i am able to see in gallery ..only problem is with the music files.....plz help me.....thanx in advance

Think this problem in Nokia 5230 is due to wma files.Just backup n delete the wma files from memory card and try, it should work fine. BTW it was working fine till the last software update.After updating to v20.0.005 only prob came up.In fact there is problem even with files downloaded from Ovi music.

I have music in my memorycard, but my Nokia 5230 d...

I've just bought new Nokia 5230, my earlier phone was Nokia 5200. I had bought memorycard for the 5200, and I had some music in it. Now i put the memorycard to the 5230, but the music doesn't appear to the player. I don't get this, I like to listen music and all I want is to get the music to the player.
Anyone knows what helps? Please?

It could be that the file structures in the card are not recognized by the OS of the 5230.
The 5200 had a basic s40 operating system, while the 5230 has an s60v5 symbian operating system. It would likely be the case. You need to format the card on the 5230 first and then put the pictures and music into the correct folders (copy them over to your PC before formatting).

Corrupted folder in Music - Nokia 5230

I have a Nokia 5230. Some time ago, I ripped a CD and copied it to my Music folder on the phone in a folder named, let's say, "Joe Blow". Somewhere along the line "Joe Blow" became corrupted. I tried to delete it but was unable to. I tried to write over it and the tracks all appeared under the album name and artist name but so did the corrupted files. I was finally able to again delete the music tracks and leave the corrupted files in the artist folder. I was also finally able to rename the "Joe Blow" folder using an old version of PC Suite. I renamed the "Joe Blow" folder with the corrupted files in it "zzzjunk" to put it at the bottom of my Music folder. I have tried to delete this folder and the files within it using an old PC Suite version, the most up to date Nokia Suite version, OVI player, the File Manager on the phone itself, and raw file mode in Windows XP and LINUX using the terminal. Any ideas?

Aha. I found THIS THREAD and used CheckDisk in Windows Vista. CheckDisk found and corrected the corrupted folder, "zzzjunk". It left the useless content in a contiguous file named "zzzjunk". I was able to delete the file "zzzjunk" left by CheckDisk.

Music problems with my new 5230!

I wondered if you wonderful guys could help me out with a couple of problems concerning my new Nokia 5230. I just received my 16gb sd card today and started transferring music files so I could listen to music on the move. Unfortunately I have came across a couple problems when previewing my music on headphones.
1. When playing mp3's from the start there are 2 quiet electronic clicks, sometimes even 3. The last click actually cuts the music out right at the start which is very annoying (music lover). Can someone tell me why this is? Being a sound engineer and a computer whiz I personally think the first quiet click(s) is due to the sound/music program activating and the final click has something to do with bitrate..So I did a series of tests concerning the bitrate and no matter what combination used..it still unfortunately clicked on all 2/3 accounts described. Infact the only bitrate that didn't have the final click with the audio cut were mp3's using 128kps so I'm thinking any bitrate above 128kps as my tests prove will cause problems!
2. I tried using the eq presets while on headphone mode and all the presets don't seem to change!!
3. Most of my mp3's in my collection has cover art and it seems that the nokia music player does not display them while playing(just has the disc with pink music note displayed all times)
Can anyone help us out here as if this isn't resolved then I won't be using this phone as a music device because that 3rd click is very annoying indeed and if it means I have to convert my entire mp3 collection to 128kps then I simply don't see the point in doing so!
Apart from that the nokia 5230 is a wonderful little phone!

1. I am using a 5800 so I cant really comment. Xpressmusic range has been replaced by the X-series, so basically X-series is the new expressmusic with more emphasis on music.

3. It would depend on whether your cover art is embedded into the file or not. Some cover art placing apps simply link the image to the mp3 file, so when you play it on your PC, the cover art shows. This is the case with iTunes (you have to edit settings for embedding). This is not the case with say, Ovi Suite, which embeds the album art into the mp3 file, so the file gets a little bigger because of the embedded picture. The phone will be able to play with album arts if the picture is embedded into the mp3 file. I personally use mp3tag to put tags and album art onto my files, but you can also use Ovi Suite which came with your phone.

Image open problem in nokia 5230

Dear All,
I have nokia 5230 mobile & i am using from last 10 months but from past few days i am facing problem regarding image/songs open problem. whenever i trying to open image my phone gets hang & it shows nothing in it but i have 100 pics in memory card, same problem is with songs whenever i put some songs in memry card but songs gallery after refreshing shows nothing.
Please help me to resolve this issue.

im not sure what to do about the images but the same happened with the songs. here is waht i did:
1. make sure you have the latest firmware installed (fw. 50).
2. when it is installed copy all tracks to pc and install nokia ovi music.
3. delete the folder called 'music' on your memory card.
4. open ovi music and add songs to playlists and copy to device. this will create a new folfre called 'music' and the error should be fixed
if that fails you should try a program called lcg jukebox as this is a much better music player

Nokia 5230 - using it with the car speaker

i possible to use the nokia 5230 with my car speaker. I want to use my phone on the car speaker, while driving. I am able to use aux to connect the nokia to my mp3player in the car, but i cant seems to use it on the voice calls. (it works fine if i use it to play mp3 on the phone)
is there any instruction how to use Nokia5230 with car speaker system?

The phone would work connected by a 3.5 to 3.5 lead in as much as if you received a call whilst connected the music would stop and you would hear the caller through the car speakers, but you would still have to use the mike on the phone to speak to the caller . You need a bluetooth car kit to use it for calls properly. A work arround would be to use a splitter lead (one 3.5 extender with 2 inputs) then plug your phone into both a wired headset and the cars auxiliary input ! But doing this would mean a lot of wires !!!

Request of app for nokia 5230

can anyone tell me if there is an app for the nokia 5230 that lets you view the screen and operate it via PC. for example i like listening to the radio on loudspeaker but id rather listen it via the speakers on my computer.

AFAIK it is not possible, you can however simply use some powered speakers as long as they have 3.5mm lead !

Nokia 5230 v 21.0.004 phone lock problem

hi, I've recently updated my nokia 5230 to v. 21.0.004 software/firmware. After I turn off and turn it on back again, It asks for phone lock code, I entered standard code 12345, its says code error, but still I can use my phone. The phone management setting for phone lock is off, I tried to change the phone lock code, but after I re-enter the new code, it says "you've entered the wrong code five times, you can unlock in five minutes" or something like that. Is anyone have the same problem with me or have a solution for it. Thanks

if you can still access full function of your phone, reset your phone to factory setting. It is also recommended to do factory reset before formating(soft rest/hard reset) phone or firmware update. And disable phone lock. Some users reported that same code(used earlier) is not recognise by the phone after soft reset and firmware update

Nokia 5230 - problem: SILENT while calling!!

I've been using my nokia 5230 about a month. Recently i'm faced with a very annoying problem:
When i call somebody or receive a call the phone gets SILENT. That means i don't hear the voice whom i'm calling (or who is calling me). But the person whom i'm calling (or who calls me) hears my voice. This problem doesn't appear every time but occasionally. I've the latest firmware on my phone.
I'm really frustrating about it. Imagine you get an very important call and your phone doesn't work properly.
I'm very thankful if somebody can help me!

I had the exact same problem.
I did a full backup using the updated OVI suite, and then followed your directions:
back up all your data first type in *#7370# security code is 12345
It performed the reset, but I could still not hear callers using the handset; my volume is turned all the way UP.
The speaker phone works fine, and music plays fine, the only problem being I am unable to hear a caller through the phone unless I turn it on speaker.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Just an FYI for others; after the reset all text messages were wiped out. When using the RESTORE function on the updated OVI suite, NOT all of the text messages that were backed up were restored.

About phone (internal) memory of nokia 5230

I purchased nokia 5230.In that there is 80MB phone memory as written on mobile booklet,but it shows less than 20MB without any installation.
So what I do?
Where is that around 50Mb memory is in used.
If anyone knows please tell me...........

According to http://www.developer.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/5230/ the phone has:
Maximum User Storage 70 MB
ROM Memory 256 MB
RAM Memory 128 MB
In addition, it supports a max 16GB MicroSD card for storage.
The "Maximum User Storage" is = "phone memory" = C-drive. If you install apps to phone memory /C-drive, then they reduce the amount available (you say you haven't installed anything).
Also, all contacts and messages are stored there by default. If there is no memory card, then all videos, photos, themes and music go there, too. Nokia Maps also stores data there, if there is no memory card installed, I suppose.
Without more details of your particular phone and what you have there, it is hard to say what the memory has been used for in your case.

Nokia 5230 Restarting

Hi Friends,
My Nokia 5230 is turning into black/white screen & restarts automatically while trying to do tasks like msg, playing music,...
I have informed the same issue to Nokia Care, don't know what they are doing, but after taking the device for 2-4days, they will info their's no issue, they have done software reset..
But still i'm facing the same issue, done servicing, no of times but no use..
Also facing this issue twice a week....

To start with, check without the SIM and Memory card being in the phone . If it remains ON..insert the SIM and the MC but only one at a time to ascertain what is creating the issue. If SIm, then first try another SIM ( borrow it from Friends / Family members) and if that works fine, get your SIM replaced thru' your Operator. Most Operators will do that for free. If MC is the problem then back-up data from it onto your PC and Format the card. Check again ...

Nokia 5230 is no longer recognized by Nokia Ssuite...

I have created a backup from my Nokia 5230 some time ago using Nokia Suite, but now the program doesn't recognize the phone, but the pc does. and I haave accepted the Ovi Suite Mode in the phone.

As farby points out if you have updated Nokia Suite it might need to establish conection again but nothing fundamentally wrong with 5230 connectivity as per screenshots:
