Mute Sound

Hi,
I purchased a flash intro template and it did not include a
Sound Off button. Most of the programming consists of movies but
there is a time line with sound. Couldn't find the answer in my
Flash MX book. Would I put the sound off action script at the start
of the layer with the sound? What if I then want to display Sound
ON, if the sound is turned off? Assistance is appreciated.
Gordco

Not familiar with flash intro template but I'll take a stab
at what I think your trying to do. My guess is that you have two
buttons one's instance is called soundOff_btn and the others
instance is name soundOn_btn. Then I'm guessing you have a Off
Sound in you library and an On Sound in your library. I put all my
scripts on the same layer ("actions"). So here's a program that
might work if I don't make any typing errors.
var mysound:Sound = new Sound();
soundOff_btn.onRelease=function()
mysound.attachsound("Off");
mysound.setVolume(50);
mysound.start();
soundOn_btn.onRelease=function()
mysound.attachsound("On");
mysound.setVolume(50);
mysound.start();
}

  • Trumpet mute sounds

    I have Jam Pack 4 but find no choices for mutes for the brass section. How would I go about getting the sounds for strsight, cup, and harmon mutes?
    Thank you....

    I don't use too many midi instruments, but I have found that the velocity on horns produce variation of the notes. Try fiddling with the velocity. I know on the trumpet that comes with GarageBand, not from a Jam Pack, the high velocity produces a stab then the note slides down. As you lower the velocity, the slide down goes away and the note becomes more staccato. IF there's a mute sound in there, my "guess" would be it is in a lower velocity setting. I may be wrong, but that's where I'd start to look for it.

    Yes, I agree but sometimes in certain situation, i need it to be mute, like when to snap picture in some quite place. I tried off the warning tones but the n82 camera sound still can be heard.
    In that case I'm afraid you're out of luck. Your N82 was obviously intended for a region where the camera must make a noise.

    No, there is no existing way in your phone to disable sound of screen capture. Even turning on silent mode, does not make sound off.

  • Lock button doesn't mute sound

    Lock button Works great for lock rotation but not for mute sound.

    Is there any software that can make the switch silence all sounds as a safety percation?  I had my volume all the way down I thought and then all of a sudden sound came on full volume from an app.  I have been waiting for this to happen to me and finally it did.
    It's interesting how different apps tie into the sound, some play music which I guess is registered to system sound and the lock switch will stop it from playing but several (most it seems) that play sounds or iTunes of course doesn't stop the sound which makes me a bit paridoid to have the thing in meetings.  Hardware switches are so much better than software visuals for things like this in IMO.

  • Using iPad 2 - if i use the slide switch to lock rotation, i cannot unlock rotation, unless i use it to mute sounds.  i can't therefore have unmuted sounds and unlocked rotation at the same time??

    Uh .... Yes you can. You just have to understand how the whole thing works.
    System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
    Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
    If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
    If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
    If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
    This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Is there a way to automatically mute sound during the night?

    Hello,
    My 77-year old mother doesn't sleep very well and awakes evey time her Mac plays an incoming-email sound. She tries hard to turn off the sound before she goes to bed, but often forgets to do so.
    I wonder if there is a way (apart from sleep or shutdown) that automatically mutes the sound from let's say 23:00 until 08:00. A command, that can be issued from Terminal.app would be fine too, I could run that from cron.
    Kind regards,
    Adam.

    you can do that also with automator workflows, there is an action called "set computer volume", you create two workflows, the firs turn off the volume, the second turn it on. Then you can schedule them with cronnix.
    hope this post can help you.

  • Will there be an option to mute sounds in tabs inividually in Firefox?

    Dear Sir/Madam,
    If I'm searching for stuff, I like to open multiple pages in a new tab by clicking on it with the middle-mouse-button.
    Sometimes, the page loads sounds while doing this. In turn I have to search in what tab the sound is played, which can be quite annoying.
    There is a way to say that Firefox won't start flash-programs, but this is quite annoying and doesn't always solve the problem.
    In another browser that I had to use but don't like, tabs show an icon so that you can see which tab has sound, but so far I haven't found any way to make this happen in Firefox.
    Will there be an option to at least see which tab has sound in future updates? And if so, will it be possible to mute said tabs?
    Hope to hear from you soon.
    Kind Regards,
    Lex van de Wiel

    I looked into this a couple months ago and concluded at that time: Based on information in the bug tracking database, when a plugin (Flash, QuickTime, Silverlight) is playing audio, it is difficult for Firefox to detect that and difficult to track down to a particular tab.
    Hopefully this will be possible in the future. Or maybe someone has created a new add-on.

  • How to quickly mute sound?

    Since the iPad doesn't have a button to shut off sound, what is the quickest way to mute it?

    No, it's hardwired. It was a good decision, though, I feel because locking the screen orientation easily is mighty useful in the iPad. Wish the iPhone could do it. The compensation for the dedicated mute switch works almost as well, I think. After less than a second of holding down the volume toggle in the lower volume direction, the thing mutes. Almost the same as clicking the iPhone's mute button, no? I also find the iPad's volume toggle switch is easier to use than the iPhone's.

  • Can't un mute sound

    I just went through re-sizing issues, with restarts and now it's ok but the volume is muted and in System Pref Sound the mute is checked and grayed out so I can't uncheck it. Why and How do I fix this?
    thanks

    Check your System Profiler. What does it show under "Available Devices?" Also, what happens if you log into another User account?

  • Way to mute sound prior to startup

    weird question: is there a way to ensure the sound on the MacBook is muted prior to startup? I find myself frequently in settings when I must startup my machine in a quiet meeting room. Inevitably, I've forgotten to mute the sound before my last shutdown, and, if possible, I'd like to keep from drawing attention to myself when I have to startup during a meeting.
    Is there functionality that allows a manual mute prior to startup?

  • How to make mouse button mute sound?

    The Apple mouse has a button on the top that I would like to use to Mute the sound. I can program a Logitech mouse to do it with Logitech drivers, but I don't know how hard it would be to get an Apple mouse to do it. I looked around for scripts/hacks... How could I make a mighty mouse Mute the system? I know there is a button on the keyboard if I could just tell the mouse button to mimic it.
    Thanks...
    Rosco

    There is an option to do this if you install the program "USB Overdrive", which allows you to customize the buttons on your mouse.
