MW project conversion to 10.1.3.0.0

I just noticed that when MW auto-upgrades my project when I open
pre 10.1.3 projects, it does not convert the datatypes properly in my
DB descriptors. (for instance, all INTs become VARCHARSs)
I am using SQL Server as my DB Platform
Is this a known issue or it's a config problem on my end?

Hi, Tony.
All of the Workbench platform configuration files were re-organized and cleaned up between 9.0.4 and 10.1.3. Unfortunately the names of some of the SQL Server datatypes were changed and the project conversion code does not compensate for the new names. The problem columns in your 9.0.4 project have a datatype of "INTEGER", but the SQL Server configuration file now only has an "INT" datatype; and, since "INTEGER" was not found, it gets converted to the default, "VARCHAR".
You have 2 options short of manually correcting all the column datatypes via the Workbench UI:
1. Before upgrading your project: You can search through all the XML files in the 'table' subdirectory of the 9.0.4 project and replace all occurrences of "<type>INTEGER</type>" with "<type>INT</type>", then read in the project and the INT datatype should be found.
2. After upgrading your project: If your database is still in synch with what you work with in the Workbench (with the exception of the datatypes, of course), you can refresh all the tables from your database and the datatypes should be updated correctly.

Usually only Open Invoices and Unapplied Receipts are migrated from Old system to New Instance.
Post Migration Reconciliation shall be tough in that scenario. Reconsider/Rediscuss with Client.
Migration can be done using APIs or Custom Scripts using Standard Interfaces.

Same thing just happened to me. I re-output my quicktime movie with chapter markers turned off. You probably have a chapter mark set too close to the beginning, end or near a transition. I didn't have time to futz with the markers so I just turned them off.
Muxing stands for multiplexing. It's when iDVD takes all the data layers, video, audio etc. and multiplexes them into one data stream. When you play the dvd in your player that one data stream is DE-Muxed back into the original layers.
When you give iDVD a quicktime movie with chapter marks it encodes those chapters as separate mpeg 2 clips. When it muxes it combines everything into one stream. If there are any inconsistencies then muxing fails.
DVD Studio pro gives a more detailed log when muxing fails. It usually involves problems with chapter marks.

Project Conversion

Hello,
I am dealing with a Project Conversion FD.My client is already having SAP-PS implemnted. However they are implementing IM now. My question is after go live of IM there will be some open projects in the system.
The approach i am thinking is to the extract of the projects in a flat file and map the project against Interest Profile, Overheads etc and reload the projects.
My question is now some of the project will be partially confirmed. What will be the impact on the total cost because of loading Interest Profile, Overhead key etc. Will Interest and Overhead be recalculated for such confirmed activities or will it be applicable for only unconfirmed activities.
Is there any other better approach?

How can I load a Key Member on a historical project (conversion) if the employee was recently terminated?

I can not load Key Members in my conversion if the employee was recently terminated even though they were active historically when the project was open.

Nope, there isn't any feature support for this conversion in Workshop.

PROBLEM WITH iMOVIE PROJECT CONVERSION TO QT

I occasionally have strange things happen when converting iMovie (DV) projects to 'full quality' QT.dv files.
Example: footage transferred from a visually pulsating image (originated on a 1920s 30 line mechanical TV scanner invented by J L Baird) has an acceptable rippling effect seen in iMovie. When converted to a QT (full quality) file the rippling becomes a rapid strobing flicker, ie something is changed in conversion. And, DVDs made from each - from the iMovie project and from its QT conversion - produce these same effects.
Any info on what happens in conversion to QT causing this problem?

But...somehow, I feel the settings of my Top-Link Db-Adapter are fine...
(B'coz as far as i can remember, i haven't meddled with it since creating/configuring the DB-Adapter in my ESb project...and there, i could specify my DB Connection ( say, DBConnection1, & could later import the Exact Table i wanted as an Offline Data source (for the routing rule..for Mapping the fields..) )
...i somehow believe there should be a problem with the <ORACLE_HOME>\j2ee\home\application-deployments\default\DbAdapter\oc4j-ra.xml
B'coz as Marc pointed out, i couldn't see any data-source with JNDI name loc/DBConnection1DataSource in my EM console...
So, i tried creating a new data-source there & pointed it to one of the existing connection-pools in the file :-
<ORACLE_HOME>/j2ee/home/config/data-sources.xml
In this connection-pool, i basically set the proper connection-string ("jdbc.thin.....") to point to the proper SID...( as i had set up & tested in my JDeveloper Database Connection..)
Hope my approach is right..??

Latency Between Outputs After Project Conversion From Logic Pro 9

hiya!
i am experiencing a bizarre kind of latency – between outputs. for example, audio assigned to stereo outs 13-14 will leave my system 120 or so ticks after audio assigned to mono outputs 3 or 4. sometimes mono outputs are out of sync with one another too. there's no apparent rhyme or reason, and the latency itself seems to shift – even with plugins turned off and removed from the channel strips. if i have an aux that's outputting to channels 7-8 and do a send to an aux that outs to 13-14, this audio should be perfectly aligned, but it just isn't.
i experience this problem in sessions converted from logic 9 to logic x, though sometimes it seems to happen within sessions started in logic x. i can't for the life of me figure out why it's happening, but do believe there's some sort of error being introduced in the conversion. i can't find anything anywhere on the internet about it.
one temp fix i found was to insert an I/O plugin into the problematic aux, turn it on with an out assigned, then turn it off. sometimes that's worked, and sometimes it hasn't. i've been able to use delay compensation on certain tracks, but it's not an exact science, and sometimes the compensations themselves need to change in order for the tracks to sound aligned. it's beyond aggravating. in some situations, i've had to re-record entire sessions. not tight!
to be clear, this is not about monitoring latency, or having to slide tracks into alignment after recording, or the waveforms on the screen not matching up with what i'm hearing. this is not about plug-in latency. the situation i'm describing happens when plugins are entirely removed: audio that is supposed to be leaving logic at the same exact time via different outputs is somehow not aligned.

i've been assured by both apogee and neve and sweetwater that this is not their issue--it's logic pro x. i'm inclined to agree, since it seems to be happening before the audio leaves logic.

I don't think it's an Environment issue, however, quite a few people have reported some corruption when importing Logic 9 projects, it usually takes the form of random Inspector Settings for Delay/Velocity and Preferences/Audio - Recording Delay being set to something other than 0 <zero>. This doesn't sound like your problem. Also sounds like your Plugin Latency setting (ALL) isn't the problem.. although if you're recording while mixing it should be set to Audio & Software instruments.
Have you used your hardware system successfully on an earlier version of OSX and Logic 9? If so then the answer is apparent, especially so if you notice it on projects started in Logic-X (current system) although it my take a certain level of project complexity before it shows up.

We also have a custom tab for attributes, so wondering how to convert them without manual keyboard entries of each project.

The bad news is that we had to write our own custom program to upload RPM items though we used SAP provided function modules /RPM/ITEM_MODIFY, /RPM/ACL_MODIFY, /RPM/DECISION_POINT_MODIFY, /RPM/FIN_GROUP_MODIFY
/RPM/CAP_GROUP_MODIFY, /RPM/SAVE_CHANGES ).

There are API's to load projects, task, key members and classification.
There are also API's to load budgets for projects.
You should setup Templates directly in Oracle Projects.
You should develop you own program that call the API's.
Otherwise look at third party product that allows loading projects and budgets from excel.
One solution is Projects Wizard from More4apps.com.
Other might be a spreadsheet based product from Project Partners (projectp.com).

WinHelp Project conversion

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to open an old RoboHelp (v.5) project with RH6;
this project was a WinHelp project and now I need to recompile it
as a Chm file... Everything seems to work fine, but when I open the
chm i see there are some missing link (I mean that some links are
processed as normal text)...
Moreover, I've also tried to take the old generated hlp file
and "convert" it.. I'ive obtained a better result (even if not
every link works fine - every link are processed as expected, but
there are dead links) but I've lost the old project's
"structure"...
So, there's no way to have a "one shot" conversion that works
fine?? I mean, its just a matters of compiling options or what?

Robohelp for html project conversion to Robohelp for word

We have created our documentation using Robohelp for HTML v
5.0.1
We find that the html editor in the program is too
restrictive. We would like to convert the entire project into
Robohelp for word.
I cant find any way to do this. We're willing to buy a 3'rd
party utility of hire someone to do it.

I was thinking that its easy in Word to put in a page break,
but did not actually try to generate a document from it!! Thanks

Our current work around idea is this: We will try to embed a
special line in the document, like "<replace with new page >"
then we can do a search and replace on the word document to insert
the page break. Then we can create a single macro that is run
everytime after the document is to be printed.
Does anyone have any thoughts about that possible work
around?

CS3 to CS4 project conversion issues

Imported a CS3 project (I had saved in Project Manager) to CS4. After the update prompt, I find the project has many issues. None of my Boris F/X are there, many of the parameters I set in Adobe effects controls are set differently (position, scale, etc.), the timeline shows everything needs rendered (even original video clips) and when I test render a portion of the work area, the quality goes down, the frame size changes and I get exposure changes. Lots to correct and not sure where to start. Did I miss something in the settings?? Pretty new to CS4, Thanks

3-stage project produced from late 2008 to late 2010, plus future

API error in projects conversion

I am using pa_project_pub.create_project api to load projects.
The program errored with ERROR IN API
Error Message (API ERROR) This role has already been assigned to this person during the specified period.
Can anyone tell the reason for the above error.

error message?
If the person has the project role then you may have to remove it and try the API again

Measurement Studio Project Conversion Wizard

I recently installed Measuremnt Studio 6 on my machine. I had version 1 before this. I open my VC++ project and it prompts me to convert the project. I answer yes. Everything is OK. I can build and link (after adding NiInterface.lib tolink settings). I save my project and everything seems OK. When I reopne the project it prompts me that my project is using version 1 and I should convert to version 6 but I have already done that. How can I get the Converion Wizard to realize my project has already been converted?
