My 7520 won't print on 5 x 7 paper. Says wrong size.

My Photosmart 7520 prints nice 4 x 6 photos but will not accept the 5 x 7 paper. Says wrong size. Any ideas ?

Mine won't even print the sample photo that somes with the software! I keep putting the same sheet of 5x7 hp photo paper in, and it comes out with NOTHING printed. SO annoying. My printer will not print in color either. It's set to color, and the ink levels are OK.

C3180 Photosmart All-in-one won't print. Gives message 'clear paper jam.' There is no paper jam. About a month ago there was a paper jam, but was removed. It worked fine since then until yesterday. I've tried all the HP trouble-shooting suggestions- unplug, take apart, manually move carriage, etc. and nothing has solved the problem. The paper does not advance...all that happens if I try to print is a lot of noise like carriage going back and forth and after a/b 1-2 minutes it will show the "red X" blinking on the printer and a message on the computer screen, "Clear paper jam." When the problem first started yesterday the message was that the printer was "Out of paper." I need to print a resume and this is just the wrong time for someone such as myself with little computer knowledge to try to figure it out. Thanks for any suggestions!

You may not need to remove/re-add. Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:

It can fix a lot on its own (especially connectivity problems) and if not give a better idea of what is going on.

Photosmart 7520 won't print black, says I have half a cartridge

My printer won't print black (regular, not photo black). The ink level says I have half a cartridge. I have tried cleaning the heads so many times but no change. I tried to find an answer in the help section of HP and had no luck. I tried to contact HP but was told because my printer was out of warranty in January I would have to pay to talk to someone. Can anyone help? I'm disappointed in HP, charging people to talk to customer service is ridiculous.

The steps in the document here may help resolve black not printing on your Photosmart 7520 printer. Be sure to check the vents as shown in Solution Six.
If the above does not resolve the issue then soaking the printhead as described in the post here may help.

New HP Photosmart 7520 won't print from photo tray

EDIT: It will feed from the phototray if I print the photo from the Windows Photo Viewer. However, it still refuses to print straight from the jpg, even though I explicitly specify in all the settings that I want to print a 4x6 from the photo tray. Is this typical behavior? I assume it would print correctly from other photo editing and viewing software, but haven't checked that yet so cannot be certain. PREVIOUS POST: I just got this printer, and cannot make it print from the photo tray. It printed from the phototray during the installation and setup, but that was the only time. The rest of the time, when I try to print a picture, it only selects from the regular paper tray. Is there some magical procedure involved? I have a Windows 7 operating system, and just installed everything from the HP site. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but still it doesn't work. I load a sheet in the phototray, make sure the correct printer is set, select the paper size (in this case 4x6in, the sample photo paper that came with the printer), select HP Everyday Photo Paper, Glossy, click Print, and the printer ignores the phototray and prints from the regular paper tray. I have scoured the web and the answers provided do not solve the problem. This is very frustrating. If I cannot get this resolved in another day or two, I will be returning this printer and will try a different brand.

I have already looked at that link and tried all the things I can try at home, aside from replacing the print heads. Nothing works. The magenta seems to be the biggest offender. When I print photos that have a lot of magenta in them, I also get the horizontal lines, so it is not just the regular paper used by the printer's quality report (my first suspicion, sadly proven wrong). I see now that this printer also cuts off the image when printing a borderless photo. I have not found a solution for that yet, either. It also went crazy in the middle of a print job (told me that I needed to power it off, lost its wireless connection, regained its connection, but would not talk to the computer). I had to turn it off and on again to reset it, and after that it seemed to print, at least. This printer has been a very expensive mistake, considering the ink and paper I have gone through in the past week. I have four days to decide if I want to return it and just eat the cost of the ink cartridges. I am seriously considering it at this point, but will try to work things out for another day or two.

HP PSC1610 won't print from internet. Error message says connect computer.

When trying to print from the internet my printer start to accept the paper, but then spits it out with nothing on it. I looked at the help menu and an ERROR message said "no connection; connect computer or install device software. This has never happened in the past until I installed new ink cartridges. I unplugged and disconnected the printer then reconnected, etc. Same problem. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. Actually this is an addendum to the above. the computer used to send the command to the printer uses Windows XP. When the command is sent the printer goes into warm up mode for 2-3 seconds and I hear the parts moving before it spits the blank paper out and aborts. The printer queue is empty on my XP as if the job was finished. Thanks Xara

HP officejet 4630 won't print on both sides of paper

Cannot print on both sides of paper. The backsideprints first, then wait for ink to dry, front side starts to print then stops with a windows error message popping up on screen saying cannot print document.
I have found that I cannot print multiple pages either. For example, I decided to print the 4 page document as single pages only (since double sided wouldn't work) and the results were first page prints second page prints about a third and then all stop with error message that printer cannot print the pdf document. so I had to select each page seperately to finnally get all four pages printed. HP print and scan diagnostics says theres is no problem. Windows diagnostics says there is no problem.
Obviously there is a problem can any one offer advice and solution?

Could you please check to Duplexer unit seem installed on printer properties and in the printing preferences section is it selected to print on both side.
If its not seem installed, adjust to it installed and try again.

Printer won't print black ink on plain paper but WILL on photo paper.

Suddenly my printer stopped printing black text, main tray. I put in a new cartridge, clean print heads, cleaned screen, reset the printer, etc., etc. Then I found it WILL print text in black on photo paper in main tray. It will print colored text, it just WILL NOT print black text on plain paper, I have tried different brands of plain paper. No difference. I have tried different quality settings, I have deleted and re-installed the printer, update software, prayed, etc. Even tried wired and wireless connections. I give up. Please help.

I'd like to help you be able to print again. I understand your colored cartridges are working, but the black ink is not. Please begin with the steps in the following document; Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Photosmart Premium C309a...
If you complete all of the steps in the document above and the issue continues, my own personal recommendation, not one of HPs, is to use the solution offered in the following video. I only suggest doing this if he printer and printhead are out of warranty.  Hot Water Printhead Flush - HP Ink Series Printers with removable Printhead.
I have recommended this solution to others and have seen success, but I can not guarantee this will resolve the issue, it is an end of the line kind of effort. I hope it helps.

Although the printer might be out of warranty, if the issue persists, HP may be able to offer you something. Maybe they can offer you a discount on a newer model, or discuss the option of replacing the printhead!  If after all of our efforts the issue remains, I suggest calling HP. Since changing the ink tanks and cleaning the print head did not resolve the error, please remove and reseat all of the ink tanks and the print head in the printer by following the steps at the link below:
MultiPASS MP730 Removing / Reseating the Ink Tanks and Print Head
Once the ink tanks and print head have been reseated, please turn off the printer, unplug the power cord and leave it out for at least 10 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it back on. If the error persists, the printer will require servicing. Please Contact Us for your servicing options.

Photosmart 7520 won't print color

I just purchased my Photosmart 7520 tonight. I can not get the color or photo black cartridge to print. The ink levels are showing as dropping but the paper/photo paper comes out blank! I can print a plain black & white document with no color, but anytime I introduce color I get nothing. Even the alignment page does not have color on it. Help! I'm so frustrated and don't want to continue to waste ink printing air!

Word document won't 'print' to PDF on proper paper size

I have a document in MS Word that's on a 5.5x8.5 page size. If I do a Save As, the resulting PDF uses the proper paper size, but it also shows color--which I don't want for this particular document.
When I do Print and choose Adobe PDF, I can choose Black/white which is great, but I'm struggling to get it to use the right paper size. I've tried ever combination I can think of in the Default Setting and Adobe PDF Page Size options, but can't get it to show anything but 8.5x11.
Any thoughts on how to get the right paper size using Print to PDF?

Is this a Word document generated by Adobe's RoboHelp product or just a document generated directly in Word?
If the latter, you are asking in the wrong place. Even if you are using RoboHelp, this looks more like a question to ask in the Acrobat forums.

Black ink cartridge in printer won't print the black data on paper

Any Changes Made To Your System Before The Issue Occurred: None
I went to copy data on my printer and noticed that the blank ink was fainting. Changed black cartridge
and now unable to print anything that has black coloring. Changed to a new black ink cartridge and
still unable to copy or print anything involving blank coloring. Did all the prompts on the troubleshooting
with no such luck.
Is there another trick that can be done? Would appreciate the help.

In particular, solution 6 may be helpful in your situation - print a print quality diagnostic / check that the supplies are correctly vented / printhead cleaning.

My printer won't print an excel document as it says that it is spam or contains a virus.

I have checked that the file doesn't contain a virus and it definitely isn't spam. I have even tried saving the file as a PDF but it still thinks it's spam. The file is being sent from one of my trusted email addresses.

It sounds as though you have eliminated the sending email address as the problem if as you say, you've been able to send content from this address to your printer with no problems in the past.
Sometimes the ePrint service cannot process job requests to print Excel documents that are macro enabled, password protected, encrypted or contain pivot tables. Does the PDF file size exceed 5 MB?

What operating systen/device are you printing from?
If you're using AirPrint, it's worth noting the points below:
The default settings for Airprint on Apple devices is to print photos from the photo tray and all other documents from the main plain paper tray.
For more flexability in terms of media and tray selection, please download the HP e-Pprint app. You'll find setup instructions for e-Print here.
