Does [this firmware update|http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/firmware_hardware/imacefifir mwareupdate13.html] apply to your machine? If so, putting it on may fix the boot from DVD problem.

Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this. -
Have a IPhone 4 and have never done updates do I have to take to apple store for all new updates.
You can update directly on the iPhone. Tap Settings > General > Update and follow the prompts.
Or, connnect your iPhone to a ocmputer, launch iTunes and update from there.

This is not a hacked account issue. It seems that this a common issue for many... Apple Mail Engineers, Please Do Something!!! With each iteration of Apple's cloud services, the domain changed. i.e., @mac.com, @me.com and now @icloud.com. It seems Apple's original plan or thought was to let you own the account name across all domains. So, [email protected] will also have the option use the newer @me.com and @icloud.com accounts at the same time (why?). With millions of devices being activated around the world, it seems some already established accounts like [email protected] were allowed to be activated as new accounts under [email protected] or [email protected] by other new iCloud users. I'm having the same problem with my email account and my son's email account. In both cases, the second user is based in Europe (we are in the USA). I've set all my devices to strictly use the [email protected] account. In iCloud settings, I see the option to also use the @me.com and @icloud.com addresses. From time to time, I get emails sent to the [email protected] This is very nerve racking because you don't want to get caught with your pants down or feel that someone other than the NSA is watching your email traffic. We can only hope Apple knows about this and has a way to differentiate accounts via another authentication key assigned to each of your devices. Good luck guys.

I just hooked up my Apple tv and im having problems already..When i enter my ID and Password for itunes it says that it is not valid,yet I double checked and its correct. Also, when I try to find the code to connect my Net flix account in Air Play the icon for the code is not there.I have wireless internet connection and it says Im connected so thats not the problem. Im ready to return my Apple tv for another product..Does anyone have a fix for this problem??

Rewards card account for FIOS service -can one check transactions and balance online?
The phone line to check the balance is on some really bad call centerish line- so are the customer service centres-virtually inaudible on a very noisy line. THey were not aware that the web page for rewards cards does not show anything beside an image of the card and as status, the fact that it was mailed out (6 months back!) . No balance, no transactions are visible online. Neither customer service nor the rewards helpline are any use. Please advise how to check the balance and transactions online.

Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.

I looked everywhere for a solution - and I finally figured it out! Deleting my accounts didn't work, but here is what worked. This worked when my Gmail accounts were not sending properly. I'm not sure if it works for other e-mail services.
1. While in Mac Mail, click "Mail" in the top left corner of the screen
2. Click "Preferences"
3. Click "Accounts"
4. Select your account that isn't sending properly
5. In "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" there will be two options - Gmail & Gmail (offline)
Make sure that "Gmail" is selected and NOT "Gmail (offline)"
If you navigate to another section in Preferences, it will ask you to SAVE - make sure you save your changes!
It worked for me, hope it works for you! -

Trying to reinstall itunes 11.1.4 to my PC and I keep getting this message: Service Apple Mobile Device(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. verify that you have sufficeint privleges to start system services. I am having this same problem. I took Kappy advice on restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service, however that did not work. I got this message in a pop up window that came up immediately.
Windows could not start the Apple Mobil Device Service on local computer.
Error 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
I have already uninstalled itunes, all the related programs and I cannot reinstall, this Apple Mobil Device message stops the install.
Can anyone please help?
