My browsing is very slow

Hi
I am experiencing very slow browsing with Safari.
I have read a previous post but i'm afraid that was too tecky for me.
I did deleted my history, my cookies and everything I could, even reseting safari.
But still. I have to reload the pages a lot of time as they don't charge up fully.
Could you please give me a nice and easy process (beginer tecky level!) for me to change that?
I'd very much appreciate that.
Carine

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
Step 2
Repeat with this line:
{ sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix\.cron)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; echo; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; echo; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -ef
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
Step 3
{ launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; echo; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -ef
Step 4
ls -A /e*/{cr,la,mach}* {,/}Lib*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -ef
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of login items' | open -ef
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
You can then quit Terminal.

I found the reason why our iPads are slow after iOS 5!!!!!!!
What you need to do is this:
    1) launch settings, go to mail contacts and calendars, go to fetch new data, advanced, and set iCloud to fetch.
    2) go back and set an interval of when to fetch. Mine is set for thirty minutes.
    3) make sure on top push is still on, that means that all your emails will still be pushed, but all the iCloud sync (contacts, calendars, reminders, bookmarks) will happen at the interval you choose.
Restart the device. Your performance should be 10x faster! No more keyboard lag, nothing! Doing this puts less stress on the A4 chip, which we know we need every bit we can get with it now!!!
    Optional:
    1) in the settings, go to safari.
    2) clear all history and cookies/data
    3) enable private browsing. One of the biggest reasons why devices are slow is because it keeps all the history and cookies in the RAM. You need more RAM to make things faster. By turning on private browsing, it never records it!

I have recently updated to ios6. But safari browser is very slow ,even twitter, Facebook also facing the same problem also cannot accsess to some websites too.

    Try these basic troubleshooting steps.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or .... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
For Safari ..... Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

    Hi,
When you initally posted your question, it appears that addons.mozilla.org was undergoing maintenance. I can now successfully download addons from addons.mozilla.org with no problem. You can see the status report at http://status.mozilla.org/en-US/detail/78/ describing the downtime.

  • Apex 3.2 on 11g with EPG on Localhost - IE 8 browser running very slow.

I've just upgraded my development DB to 11gV2 but can't cut over to APEX4.0 yet as the production environment still needs to be upgraded(backward compatibility issues).
    New SETUP
    APEX 3.2
    11g setup on localhost
    EPG
    IE8 runs very very slow
Firefox runs fine with acceptable speed
    Old Setup
    APEX 3.2
    10g on localhost
    HTTP server
    IE7 run fine
    Firefox ran fine
Any suggestions on how to speed up IE8 as it is our prefered browser?
I've tried to set TOOLS...INTERNET OPTIONS...ADVANCED...http1.1 settings on and off as suggested by someone on the forum but the results are unpredicitble.
    Paul P

    Hello Paul,
I think we are now in a similiar situation as you had a year ago, and I was wondering if you could provide me with some insight.
We are currently running on 10g with Apex 3.2.1 and are working on upgrading to 11g, and not upgrading Apex (staying at 3.2).
Did you run into any issues when upgrading to 11g? Did anything need to be done on the Apex side to support it? Or are they totally independent?
    Thanks!

  • Browser Goes Very Slow

The how can I identify which is useless ? ?
PS: Thanks for you kindly following.
    Hi Ben,
Hands off from the 'Process Viewer' you are referring to !!
If you don't exactly know which process is belonging to what program, you can do more damage than you like...
And these 50 processes you see there are not unusual.
(I have 30 at the moment, with only Firefox and a VNC-Viewer running).
A lot of these processes are Windows System processes which are always running.
Two Tabs to the left of the Process Viewer Tab is the 'Network' Tab (named Netzwerk in my German Windows).
With it you can see the load of your LAN-connection and can determine if there is a certain amount of load already there, even when you don't use your browser.
And when your browser is getting slow, you can see if it's a problem with your LAN-connection or not.
And don't underestimate the possibility, that sometimes the server, that are hosting the websites you visit, are simply said 'full'.
Imagine 10 million Mac-user trying to download the latest OSX update from the Apple servers at the same time and you know what I mean.
As for Startup Items, click on 'Start' - 'Run...' and type msconfig.
The last Tab shows you the Startup Objects.

  • JDeveloper business component browser is very slow

    Hi everyone,
A view that runs very fast -- 2 seconds -- through SQL Developer takes an extremely long time -- several minutes -- when using the business component browser in JDeveloper. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I am a newbie with JDeveloper.
    Here is the WHERE clause:
    WHERE b_id = :pBId -- Integer
    AND o_id = :pOId -- Integer
    AND (((TO_CHAR(TO_TIMESTAMP(LinesVEO.ENDING_DATE), 'yyyy-mm-dd') = :pEndingDate))) -- String
    Thanks.
    James

    Hi Shay,
Done...the query in the output looks like the query that I am running in SQL Developer (which runs very fast).
    WHERE b_id = :pBId -- Integer
    AND o_id = :pOId -- Integer
    AND (((TO_CHAR(TO_TIMESTAMP(LinesVEO.ENDING_DATE), 'yyyy-mm-dd') = :pEndingDate))) -- String
    AND LinesVEO.ENDING_DATE = :pEndingDate
Changing the date condition significantly changed the performance -- a minute is much better than several minutes. But, I would like to get it to a few seconds if possible.
    What should I do next?

We've seen this issue on some servers, but not on others running the same application. We're still researching the problem, but the best lead we've got so far is that it might have something to do with the network, either with not being able to look up a network address with DNS or accessing this address.

  • Browsing is very slow on Mac Mini connected to 100mbit LAN. FTP and file download is very fast.

    Hi all
I have a strange behaviour of my Mac MIni 2012. The mini is connected to the internet by LAN. When I download a file via http or ftp everything is very fast (arround 95mbit/s). But when I try to open a website in Safari, Chrome or Firefox i have to wait some seconds until the page starts rendering.after the page is rendered completely, everything works fast and smooth.
Do you have any ideas where the problem migth be? I have reinstalled Mavericks from zero yesterday. The problem resists. With my Macbook Air (conntected to the same router) and my Windows computer I dont have this problem.
THanks in advance for your help.

    Marc

By any chance, do you run sophos?  I had the same issue as you and fixed it on my mac mini and macbook pro by doing the following:
Sophos --> Open Preferences --> Web Protection --> General
You will need to enter your admin password after clicking the padlock in the bottom left to allow you to change settings.
From there, deactivate "Block access to malicious websites using realtime URL reputation checks".  For good measure, I also deactivated "Block malicious downloads from websites".
    Hope this helps!

hello, you probably have malicious software present on your system. please perform all these steps:
    # [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    # afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
    # finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

To free up hard drive space the best bet is to move data files that you don't need access to all the time. Likely candidates are music, video, and photos. Things like word processing and spreadsheet files can also be moved but they tend not to be very large and so don't free up much space. The problem with moving the above mentioned files is that iTunes and iPhoto need to know where the files are stored.
Here's an article explaining how to move the iTunes folder. You can move the iPhoto library using the Finder but there is a slight complication. Start iPhoto, open the Preferences and click on the Advanced tab. The first option is "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". If this option is checked, copy the iPhoto library to your external folder (drag it from the Pictures folder to your external drive) and then delete it from your Picture folder. If this option is not checked, it is a bit more complicated and we'll need to talk a bit.

  • Firefox browser is very slow, I delete history and Cache often, I like Firefox better than IE but need it faster as I am stuck with Dialup.

I empty Cache and all recent history except passwords to get about 4kbs and at most I can get about 6.7kbs. Firefox is a lot better than IE but I am stuck with Dialup or a high price for DSL from our Local Telephone company. I have Windows Vista and IE9 and 7 as this is a 64 system so I have to download both 32 and 64 to run. Firefox is bright and clear. I see that instead of Java which is disabled for Firefox it uses Jagermonkey, I tried to find some info on this but couldn't. I downloaded Firefox7 just 2 weeks ago.

Your Shockwave Flash is not current, do not install additional "crapware" which will likely be offered when installing an Adobe product
    :http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
:also check all plugins through the '''about:plugins''' link
    :to http://www.mozilla.com/plugincheck/
There is little point is running the 64bit version of Firefox, it is really for testing.
You can clear cache automatically when you shutdown Firefox (see image)

Install a "hosts" file as well, see link in the MozillaZine article above
This seems to have helped, to early to tell, I ran all options individually of the add-on then uninstalled it, see

  • After updating to 10.6.8 internet browsing very slow

After doing the update 10.6.8 internet browsing became very slow on safari, chorme and firefox. Is there a solution to this problem.

    Had the same problem
I then  added some DNS  servers to my network configuration and now speed is back to normal (pre 10.6.8)
This is how to add DNS servers
Find some IP address of a DNS server either from your Internet Provider or use one or more of these:
    http://theos.in/windows-xp/free-fast-public-dns-server-list/
Test one or more DNS IP addresses by using nslookup
Open terminal (cmd + space type terminal)
    In the terminal type
    nslookup  nasa.org 12.13.14.15
where 12.13.14.15 is the DNS IP server address you want to test
If it works it will respond:
    Server:        192.168.1.1
    Address:    192.168.1.1#53
    Name:    nasa.org
    Address: 208.73.210.48
Now add one or more valid DNS IP address to the network settings:
In Systems settings / Network / Advanced choose the DNS tab
Press the + button and type the IP address of a valid DNS server
    Press OK and then Apply
Now your browser should be back to its usual speed :-)
