My computer says firefox is running even after I've "x'd" out. Also has locked up my printer

When I try to open firefox a window pops up and says its already running. Where? Not listed in my task bar.
Also wants to print on landscape and only prints 1 page of 3. Locks up my printer

Also check for ''plugincontainer.exe'' it is possible that is what is left running, and maybe that causes the problem.
Did you notice the instructions

When you use Task Manger you will need to check under

which infers the problem exists and seems to confirm the only way is to restart the machine.
Not being computer literate I cannot tell whether or not you can get around the 'lock/unlock' problem! What I need is an easy 'fix' but there does not appear to be one!!

Err MSG Firefox already running even after uninstall & restart, incl x64 version on Win 7x54. Nothing running in Task Manager.

Error message on Win7 x64 system, new install. First installed FF4 but error message on starting "Firefox is already running but not responding etc (Restart) Same result after restart. Uninstalled, installed 3.0.1 same result. Uninstalled, found and installed 3.6.6 64 bit. Same result. Total inability to open at all. I have 32bit 3.6.6 on this machine - also Win 7 x64 & quite OK.

You will need to get to the bottom of this problem and try to prevent it happening in the future

Getting quite frustrated with my iPhone 4S. Can't access WIFI and/or Bluetooth nor will my computer allow it to be a "hotspot" unless physically tethered to computer. It started acting up after download....it also has messed up some app

I've only had this phone since Sept. and have already had to have the speaker replaced. NOW I can't access wifi and/or bluetooth (both are grey). I can't use the Personal Hotspot either (and the passcode no longer shows up). I can only access internet via the phone through the USB. This started over the past few days (and after I updated to IOS).
Some of my apps no longer work either...over 100+ hours of audiobooks on Audible can't be accessed as the Audible app just shuts off.
Any recommendations on how to recify? I'm pretty rural so downloaded anything takes going to the next town over to get a signal from the library... and all of my searching is eating into my 5gb limit through ATT....so it is a bit irritating

Have you run it in a debugger? That will show you exactly what is happening and why.

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator. 
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties". 
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window. 
* Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected 
* "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected 
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.

Process Chain running even after end date

Hi,
We are scheduling month end PC to run every 2 hours and also we have given end date for today evening.but process chain runs even after end date for every 2 hours.so we have to manually remove it from scheduling.
Any method how can PC stop on its own after end date .

There might be multiple release jobs for thie process chain.
So check the same. Right click on process chain --> Display scheduled jobs --> Here all the jobs logs of the chain will be available.. So check the same here...
As you have descheduled it now.. probably you may not be having it as the first release job might be moved to Schedule status as soon as the END date has reached and then second one might have gone when you have removed the chain from Schduling..
Anyway check the same.. and also check in SM37 whether any other user has triggered it manually today or not?

My pc says Firefox is running after I close the browser, and will not let me access the internet. This continues even after I shut down and restart my pc. It even continues to do it after I uninstal, then reinstal Firefox. What can I do?

We tried uninstalling , tyen reinstalling Firefox, but we still get the error message that Firefox is running, and the PC won't open the browser.
We went to the Task Manager on our PC, which said Firefox was running, and told TM to close it. But, when we try to then open Firefox, we get the same error message.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

I keep getting the message that Firefox is running in the background and I cannot load another page. I have to restart my computer to get Firefox back to operating normally. I have everything closed down as far as I can tell. But when I click on the Icon it will not start another page. It just keeps telling me to shut down all browser windows and that Firefox is running in the background. I even go to ctrl/alt/delete and look at the tasks running. Nothing! It is happening a lot more often now and I hate to use Internet Explorer. I have depended a lot more on Mozilla in the past few years now and I like it. This is driving me nuts. Please help. Fresh install won't start - says it's already running even after reboot

I've installed Firefox for the first time on this Windows 2008 machine.
The installer quit complaining that Firefox was already in use. I've rebooted twice, and attempted to delete the parent.lock file, and it still won't open.
I can't delete the parent.lock file as it's in use, even after a reboot.
Anyone got any ideas how I fix this?

I missed the post above. Partly no doubt the annoying lag on forum listings updates.
Is the entry in the ''profiles.ini'' file sane and does it point at a location that has suitable read and write permissions. I am of course assuming if you rename ''profiles.ini'' in its current location that Firefox does recreate it.

Presumably after you delete or rename the profile folder Firefox does manage to recreate and populate the profile.
If this is not happening do a clean reinstall of Firefox again, deleting all the Firefox program folders and files prior to the install.
