I had to change the email address on apples site regarding this Ipad. After I changed my email address this unit keeps bringing up the obsolete address.What should I do?
Any advice will be extremely Welcome !

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

It reflects my old email address and therefore won't recognize my password. When I try to do something on the App Store on my iPad, it brings up a notice to sign on, which reflects the old email address, and rejects my password since the username/email address is no longer correct. Puzzled!

I have another question for the community. My daughter tells me that my texts to her show my primary email address as the account name of the sender (me) when I text her, rather than my cell phone number from which I'm texting her. I've had others report that to me too. How do I turn that off so that recipients see my cell phone number displayed as the sending party and not my email address? Thanks -

don't take this the wrong way, I know you are trying to help, but that wasn't helpful in the slightest. Yes I realise that they don't know me personally, and hence don't know what my actual birthdate is. When I fill in online forms I generally do them accurately. I have no idea how they have it wrong, but what I was really alluding to was, can someone please tell me how to contact Apple so they can do it manually. this is doing my head in royally, since I cant download any apps etc on any of my apple stuff, as my account has been frozen.

It probably really is being used by another account. That account holder may be you, or it may have been an Apple ID used at one time in the past, which again may have been you. Doesn't matter which. Once it's used, it can no longer be used by anyone, ever again.
By "already in use" it means that email address might be an Apple ID, or an "alternate email address" associated with any Apple ID that has not been deleted from that Apple ID, or a "rescue email address" for an Apple ID that also has not yet been deleted. Therefore if you have another Apple ID go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and using the "Manage your Apple ID" button, check your account for alternate email addresses. If that email address is present, deleting it will make it available to use for an Apple ID.
Rack your brain for any other Apple IDs you may have used in the past.

However, I can not download apps as it keep asking me to provide the password for the original registered email address. Note - if your older apps needs an update it will use your old apple id and password, as Apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it.
You can't merge apple id.

I kind of agree with Philly on this one. If you get a new email address, there is no need to establish an entirely new account to use that address. You just need to modify your account to show the new email address. This way all your purchase history and rights to purchased apps stays in place. Creating a new iTunes/Apple account each time your email address changes really doesn't make sense in my opinion. I only point this out for future searchers who end up on this thread.

If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt. If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.

Start with the Settings app
Settings > iTunes and App Store > tap on your Apple ID and then tap on Sign Out
Then sign in with your correct Apple ID and password.

I have been using a .MAC since the dawn of time. APPLE recently about two weeks ago prompted me for an alterante email and I provided one. Today I tried ot make a purchase on several different devices and am getting "Your email address has changed or is invalid"

I am having this problem too. I recently changed ISP b/c I wanted the iPhone, so I had to update my iTunes username to my Gmail account.
In fact, I logged in HERE using it as my new Apple Id... so it works!
But for some **** reason that is driving me nuts my iPhone will not connect to the iTunes store using my new Apple Id. It keeps saying my email has changed or is invalid and asks me to sign in to change it. So I do that, and it lets me in USING MY NEW Apple ID!!!! Then I go back out to the buy the App and the madness starts all over.

This is compounded actually by a Gmail issue. I have had this email address for ages, since the start of the beta. But lately in the last year or so, I am getting mail that seems to be intended for other people but it is using my email address. It is probably one of them who created the Apple ID.

From the information that you have provided, it sounds like your Apple ID has been disabled. You can read this to see how you can troubleshoot that issue.

You can try signing out of your ID on the iPad and sign in with his ID and see if that works.
Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Then sign in with your husband's newly created ID.
