My Forth Creative Mp3 Player and counting

I have just got my fourth creative Mp3 player. You would have though I would have learnt my lesson by now!
First one (Zen Micro)was faulty when purchased so went straight back to the shop.
Second (Zen Micro) lasted 8 months before stopping working one day.
Third (Zen Microphoto) lasted 3 months before the screen stopping working correctly.
Forth and current(Zen Touch 40gb)lasted 3 days before becoming faulty.
I've contacted support as it seems to have the same firmware error problem as numerous others. Is there a fix? I have seen so many threads but not many positi've results.
As far as I am concerned this is the last Creative player I shall buy. If they can't get me fixed up it's going back to the shop for a refund or exchange for anything but a creative player.
Do others have such a poor experience of Creative players or am I just having a bad experience?Message Edited by Ainslie on 07-0-20070:37 AM

I bought a 30gb Nomad Jukebox Xtra 3 or 4 years ago, and only now it quit on me. And only the LED screen, after going through a rainstorm; everything else still works. I just bought a 30gb Zen Vision M to replace her. So far so good. Defecti've products happen. So do unlucky people

How can I connect my Creative mp3 Player and my car ste

I need to connect my Creative mp3 Player and my car stereo (Peugeot 407 standard car stareo). It haven't cassette player or an "AUX IN" hole. Any Idea?


Unfortunately (for us consumers) there are few options.
) Use an FM transmitter which does not work in your area.
2) There was a post in this forum where the person had a device installed that would switch from the car antenna to an FM transmitter. So effecti'vely, the FM transmitter is spliced right into the antenna line into your car stereo. The theory is that it's either using the car antenna or your MP3 player, but never both. There are no competing FM stations. The use also said this cost them $200 .... which makes option 3 a better deal considering FM will decrease the fidelity of a MP3 player.
3) Buy a car stereo with an input jack .. as SSR as sited.
4) You can buy a cassette adapter ... if your current car stereo has a circa 20th century cassette player.
5) Start a grass roots effort to lobby car manufacturers to put in a input jack in the car stereos. The American companies might be softened after this SUV bust.
If you pick #5, I'm available to stamp and stuff envelopes ......

Creative MP3 Player and Mac

I absolutely love using creative's media players however I recently switched from using a PC to a Mac and have discovered that I can't transfer music to my Zen Vision M 30 GB player! Is there any software or a driver I could download to solve this issue?

i used the xnjb software to transfer tracks from my zen touch to my macbook. i had a boatload of tunes to transfer and found it necessary to?delete the preloaded tracks from my player?in order to get all of my mp3's loaded onto my mac. if i am not mistaken, the tracks that came preloaded on the zen touch would not load onto my mac. i really liked listening to those tunes and it's a shame i couldn't figure out another way of transferring the music from the touch to my mac without deleting those wonderful classical tracks. is there any way of retrieving those deleted songs?if there is not an easy (and cheap) way of retrieving those tracks, can someone please provide me with a list of the tunes that came preloaded on the zen touch. i have the 40G. thanks for your help!

Creative MP3 Player (Microphoto) Blank LCD Display Scr

Savings for Creative Mp3 Player

BestBuy is having a 25% off all creative mp3 player sale and I was looking at the Zen Micro Photo. I want an mp3 player that can hold alot of songs that I can run with, but I found out mini-hard dri'ves and regular ones arn't suitable for running...So I am going to stick with a large capacity player with alot of features instead of a flash player but I just can't choose. Plz leave suggestions if you were in my place shopping for an mp3 player.

If you're planning to do exercise while using a player. I would suggest going after a flash based player like the Zen Nano Plus, Zen Nano and MuVo series instead of microdri've or harddisk based player.

Well, anyway,Whenever i turn it on, the green light that signals it being on, will flash red, and after about minute or so, turn off, i thought this was just a battery problem..but i switched in a brand new fresh battery...and it still did it, anyone know the problem?

The manual says that a flashing red light is a battery problem. Have you checked your battery contacts and cleaned them up? How is the player when you connect it to your PC?
You could try a firmware update - there was a new version on the UK site in July of this year. It needs Recovery Mode so make sure you follow the instructions to the letter. You also need to d/l and install the Mass Storage Driver at the top of the page first.

SL3100 directly compatible with new bluetooth creative mp3 player?

I have found an old pair of creative 3100 that I though I had lost. Does they work nowadays automatically (without the bluetooth transmitter) with new bluetooth-enabled creative mp3 player like the ZEN X-Fi3? Will the command buttons on the headset work when directly connected to the ZEN X-Fi3?
Or I have to use the old transmitter? Will the command button be usable if i connect the headset via the old bluetooth transmitter?

I have an Creative Micro Zen mp3 player
When I start or reboot the mp3 player it hangs at the 'CREATIVE' logo and stops responding. This started 3 weeks ago.
I followed the steps below as suggested by Creative's knowledge base:.) Clean up2.) Format3.) Reload Firmware4.) Reboot
At each of these steps the player does not hang (I can hear the sound feedback when I touch the control buttons), but I stays there for hours saying i.e. 'Cleaning up', 'Erasing Firmware'

After I have read the FAQ I came across this last resort, tried it, and succeeded. Now it works again

My Zen won't startup, what do I do?
align=justify>If your Zen won't startup the first thing to try is see if you can access the Maintenance Menu (click here for the procedure) and run a disk cleanup. If this fails, or if you are getting the "hard dri've error" message on startup, listen closely to the Zen when it starts up. At your own risk you can try and free this by firstly powering the player down, then giving it a hard slap on the side. An alternati've and less drastic approach is to hold it in your outstretched arm with the screen towards you and twist your wrist back and forth as quickly as you can. This might indicate a problem with the player, so you may want to seek getting your player replaced/repaired anyway, especially if this happens more than once. Also if this procedure doesn't help you will also have to look at getting the player repaired, or if out of warranty you can try repairing the hard disk yourself. See the Articles section for guides on upgrading. Note that you should not hit your player in any other circumstance as you could damage the hard disk. Hard disks make clicking noises in normal operation.

Yes, however they aren't practical for many people since they aren't compatible with Yahoo's unlimited music service. Many people would rather get a Zen Micro or Sleek and pay $60 a year to Yahoo to fill up their player with music rather than pay over $,000 to Apple to fill up their 4 gig player with music at 99 cents a song. With the Yahoo service, one can also change the music in their player without additional cost.

With Creative's Nano and Nano Plus, one can use a rechargeable AAA battery. Rechargeable AAA batteries are great since most chargers can charge 4 at a time. Four nimh AAA rechargeable batteries and a charger can often be purchased for under $20.
With the ipod Nano, once the charge in the built in battery runs out, one can't listen to it until it is recharged. With the Creative Nano Plus, one just switches to another battery(remember I just mentioned how AAA nimh batteries can be conveniently charged 4 at a time?). Taking an ipod Nano on a long trip would be annoying. While the player is small, the notebook computer one would need to carry with it to recharge the player is quite large. I would much rather carry a few extra AAA batteries than a notebook computer(I as many others don't even own a notebook computer).

I would also love to have one, but only if it is compatible with Yahoo Music Unlimited, uses a AA or AAA battery, and has a built in radio. That rules out Apple's players on three counts.

I'm a newbie and I don't know a lot about MP3 players so I hope you can help me out. I have a brand new Kenwood car audio with an USB cable to plug your MP3 player in. My friend's Samsung MP3 player doesn't work, after some research I find out that the MP3 player has to be an MTP one to work with the car audio. Now my question is: are all Creative MP3 players MTP maschines and do I have to make a software update or what ever to "make them be" a MTP player?

Are you sure about this? Which Kenwood is it exactly? The info I've seen on the Kenwoods say that the USB device must be MSC (not MTP).
Perhaps your friend's Samsung is MTP, and that's why it didn't work.
