MY IPOD IS BLINKING ORANGE/GREEN! HELP!!!!

HELP! when i turn on my ipod suffle it blinks green and orange so i try to restore it. ok i try that and my computer gets stuck everytime. i try to do the same thing from another computer and it still gets stuck! but mind you when i put my ipod in the computer my computer read it but not itunes. n my computer charges it to. i need help. can anybody help me PLEASE!!!

Ok I'm back this time with the solution!!!! to the yellow orange lights problem. It appears to be a problem with the software not the ipod!! I use the software real player which supports ipods I went to "my computer" and found the ipod (usually "my name ipod" I the open the drive, yes your ipod is recognize under windows as a drive. I backed up the songs in to a folder (my song) and deleted all folders in the ipod. Note: the folders in the ipod are hidden you have to go to "tools" then "folder options" then "view" and make sure you select "view hidden files and foldes" you will then see all folders, delete them all!
Open your real player software, do not syncronize just open the folder where you saved all your songs copy them and paste them under burn/transfer. I had my son's ipod working in a flash! I suggest not using itunes software until Apple fixes this problem, I think once you delete the itune files in your ipod you can use any software to add songs in to your ipod, good luck!

  • 8510W won't boot. HDD LED blinking orange-green

My 4 year old HP Compaq 8510W was working fine until a few days ago. It ran a bit hot so I decided to reboot to let it cool down. After shutting it down, it didn't want to boot again. Instead the fan starts turning fast (and loud), the power light comes on like normal and the HDD light starts repeating the following blinking sequence; orange fast, green normal, pauze and repeat. It doesn't respond to any button or key, I need to hold the power button to shut it off.
I was suspecting the HDD, as I don't hear it turning, only skipping once every 30 seconds or so. I pulled the HDD out and plugged it into my PC and the drive worked fine. I took this opportunity to backup all my files onto my PC.
If it is not the HDD I don't know what it is. Has anyone had this problem too? And (how) did you solve it?
My 8510W is running on Vista 32-bit.

Yes. Most likely the video chip on the motherboard went bad, or the CPU fried, or some other circuit on the motherboard went south.
There is no troubleshooting guide for your notebook--only a service manual which is only going to tell you how to remove and replace parts.
Maybe it is time to upgrade? I like buying HP business notebooks on eBay.
If you like the mobile workstations, go for the 8530w. Some of them have webcams.  I have the 6930p and am very happy with it.
Or, if you really like yours, get another 8510w. You may be better off in the long run than tearing into yours and not being able to fix the problem after throwing money and parts at it, or paying someone to fix it.

  • 2nd gen shuffle blinks orange 3x then doesnt charge, isnt detected

I have had and used my Ipod Shuffle for a couple months now and I go to plug my Ipod Shuffle into the USB dock and the Ipod light blinks orange three times and nothing happens after that. The Ipod is not detected by my computer or by Itunes. The Ipod does not charge at all. Because the Ipod is not detected by Itunes or anything else for that matter, I can't upload or organize any of my songs on the Ipod. I have tried all of the solutions I can find related to Apple and Ipod. None have worked. I uninstalled Itunes from my computer and then reinstalled it and nothing happened. I want to find the answer to my pesky problem because I don't want to have to buy another MP3 player. Please help me fix this problem. Any ideas or suggestions?

I had the exact problem occur with a 2nd gen shuffle less than 24 hours old. I had just bought my kids each one of these. After loading them both with songs, one of them would no longer be recognized by either of my PC's. When plugged in to the docking station, the light on the ipod would blink orange 3x, and then, nothing. The PC would not play the normal something-was-just-plugged-into-the-USB-port sound. The other shuffle connected fine, using the same USB port and docking station. Strange enough, the ipod that refused to be recognized would still play the music that had already been loaded before the problem started. However, since it was not being recognized by the PC or iTunes, I figured it was not going to take a charge, and would just be a matter of 12-14 hours before the thing was dead for good. I took it back to Best Buy and exchanged it for a new one. This time I purchased the 2-year replacement contract (something I rarely do). Probably a good bet, as a couple of hours later, the sound of the newly-replaced shuffle cuts in and out when the headphone wire is touched. I wonder how many of these cute little guys my kids will go through in the next two years...

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My new IPod shuffle is plugged into my computer on my iTunes account but it has been blinking orange for hours. What should I do?

    Hello!
I just purchased an IPod Shuffle.  I have an existing account with Itunes where I have many songs in my library. I plugged in my IPod Shuffle into my computer and ITune, but it has been blinking orange for hours. I had already charged the IPod until the light turned green.  So I thought it was fully charged.  When I go under "file" and "device" it won't permit me to sync my IPod.  What is happening?  Should my IPod be on or off and does that make a difference because I have it turned on. Anyone who can provide me with some guidance it would be greatly appreciated.  I am extremely frustrated and at the end of my rope.
    Thank you,
    Samantha

    venicespent,
Boot into your Mavericks Recovery partition by hold down the command and R keys whilst booting. You'll see a screen that looks like this:
Click on the Disk Utility item to open Disk Utility. You should see your boot drive (usually named "Macintosh HD" unless you've changed it) in the column on the left of the screen. Select your boot partition and click on the "Verify" button. Let your Mac do it's thing - if you get green text telling you that everything seems to be OK, then your disk should not be damaged. If, however, you get red text telling you that the disk needs to be repaired, click on the "Repair" button. If the disk can be repaired, you should be good to go. If the disk cannot be repaired then the drive is damaged.
But before you do anything, make certain that you have backups!!!

  • Shuffle Blinking Orange/Not Being Recognized-- Please Help!

I just got a new iPod Shuffle 2nd generation.
I plugged everything in as stated in the instructions.
The only thing that happens is a folder "IPOD(E:)" pops up. It's empty.
Meanwhile, the shuffle is blinking orange.
So I open iTunes. ITunes tells me that this new ipod only works with ITunes 7.02.
Problem: But I DO have 7.02 running. That IS my current version of iTunes. So this pod SHOULD be working.
I'm not getting any "error" messages. Just an empty "IPOD(E:)" folder and the update message. There is no eject button for the shuffle because iTunes does not recognize any iPod as having been connected.
I have a 1st generation Nano that works fine also on this system. I have a Windows XP.
    Help, please!

    awg2009,
The iPod Shuffle (Second Generation) showing up as the E: drive, and iTunes reporting that you need iTunes 7.0.2 mean that iTunes 7.0.2 is not fully installed.
In iTunes, go to the Help menu, and then About iTunes, what is the version number in the first line of scrolling text?
If it still reports 7.0.1, close iTunes.
Go to www.apple.com/itunes/ and download iTunes 7.0.2.
When prompted to save or run the file, be sure to save the iTunesSetup.exe where you can find it later.
After it has downloaded, trun off your anti-virus software which may prevent the iTunes files that may be running in the background from being changed, and run the iTunesSetup.exe.
    Restart the computer after installing.
Then connect the iPod Shuffle (Second Generation).
If that does not resolve the issue this article contains more information on troubleshooting iTunes install errors:

  • My ipod shuffle 2nd gen wont charge or recognize my computer blinking orange 3x

My ipod shuffle wont charge or cant connect to my computer or detect by iTunes its  just blinking orange 3 times
I tried connect it to other ports same thing happen I tried any possible way but still the same
I use my ipod 2 years I guess and its working fine until I experience this someone experience this same problem please help.

If it's less than one year old, it should still be under warranty.  If you are near an Apple Store, I'd make an appointment at the Genius Bar to see about getting it replaced.
There are two likely possibilities.  The cable used to connect it to USB has gone bad.  Or the connector on the iPod has gone bad.
Be sure to try these things, if you have not already. Use a different USB port on your computer.
Disconnect iPod shuffle and completely shut down (power off) your computer.  Also, use this procedure to reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Turn on computer.  Run iTunes.  Connect iPod shuffle.

  • IPod Shuffle (2nd Gen) not charging, just blinks orange once.

    Hi,
I was using this iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen for almost 4 years without any problem, After I got iPod Touch 4G a year back, I stopped using shuffle for almost a year. When I looked at it recently, of course, to give it to my niece - it's not responding. Thinking that battery drained, I tried to charge the shuffle using the then supplied USB doc.
When connected it just blinked orange once - only once that's it. Nothing happend. Even after keeping it for a whole night, nothing happend. It doesn't play, iTunes won't recognize, but windows 7 says "USB Device not recognized", and it was showed under Generic USB Hub as "Unknown Device"
I used USB 2.0 port back of my computer.
Tried using 3rd gen shuffle charging cable, but this time not even the orange blink.
Tried suggested resetting option (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655), but invain.
    Any suggestions?

    If you do
Apple Menu -> About This Mac -> More Info -> System Report
to run System Information (or System Profiler), does the "iPod" appear as a connected device under
    Hardware -> USB
Try doing the above with the shuffle connected directly AND using the power USB hub you mentioned.
Have you tried connecting something else to that USB port, to confirm it is working properly?  Preferably, it should be something similar, like a USB flash drive or port-powered external drive (data storage devices that get power from the USB port).
Two other related tests...  Create a new user account in System Preferences Users & Groups pane.  The new user account can be Standard or Admin.  Log out and log in to the new user account (do not use Fast User Switching).  In the new user account, run iTunes and connect the shuffle.
And the other test.  Start up in Safe Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564
Connect the shuffle while started up in safe mode, to see if it appears anywhere.  These two test are to see if you have a process running when you start up normally, that interferes with the iPod being recognized.

  • I have a 1st Gen Time Capsule 1tb. It turns on, boots up and turns green for 5-10 mins, but then turns solid orange and then blinks orange.  I have removed the hard drive and replaced the power supply . . . still the same problem.  Suggestions?

I purchased a used 1st Gen Time Capsule with a 1 tb hard drive.
When I plugged it in and did the initial setup, it worked fine, but gave me a hard drive error.  A few minutes later the green light turned solid orange, then blinking orange, then the status light went off.  The lights in back stayed on.
I removed the hard drive and rebooted, it turned green for 5-10 minutes then reverted back to a solid orange, blinking orange, then went off.
Next I purchased a remanufactured internal power supply, and installed it (without the hard drive in).  It turned green almost immediately.  After about 15-20 minutes, I decided to try to install the hard drive again, booted it up, and tried to erase the hard drive with was working properly according to the software.  It stopped erasing the disc after about 20 minutes and turned solid orange again, then blinking, then no status light  (but back lights were still lit).
I'm a bit flabbergasted at this point, any suggestions on what to do next?  I think i've pretty much replaced everything except the logic board, but can't seem to find any information on the symptoms of a logic board malfunction.
    Thanks!!!!!!!

A Gen3 is identical board to a Gen4 although they have some differences in firmware and wireless card was updated on every model.. but a Gen3 is substantially faster than Gen1, Gen2 which also have identical boards.
You can with careful shopping get a Gen3 pretty cheap.
Most use a delta power supply which I think is a lot better than the flextronics used in most Gen1/2
You can sell back the parts to ebay.. people still would buy the power supply etc. Even just the case can be useful to a repairer.
But if the board is gone.. it is hard to repair.. not impossible.. but hard.
Gen 3 and Gen 4 are not without faults.
    See this page.
    https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem s/apple-time-capsule-repair/new-issue-with-a1355-gen-3-tc
I have fixed it a different way.. by using the small converters you can buy in bulk from ebay for $1 each.. KIS3R33 .. they produce 3.3V at 2A peaking at 3A.. amazing.. I keep using them to replace onboard power converters by removing the inductor and simply power directly.. the end result has worked great. You can simply change the resistors around and get any output from 1v to 20v depending on input.
Is it worth doing it .. no of course not.. it will waste many more hours than $50 is worth.. but it is kind of fun that you can actually make things work again.
Here is a pic of the Gen 3 totally powered by me. All onboard power removed.
This was to track down the fault in the Gen3.. but I am kind of pleased that it ended up neat enough and reliable enough to work for more than a year.. the Gen3 still serves as a way to get Netflix via network for a friend running 24/7.
The units supply (from left to right)
    1v, 1.1v, 3.3v, 5v, 1.8v
It is feed by 12v supply which is also directly connected to the hard disk.
So it is possible to fix.. !! Only got to be a bit crazy.
