Hi. My daughters iPod has been disabled and I've tried to do the reset and restore via itunes but it gets to the screen showing the plug into iTunes and then iTunes should pick up the device automatically and give me the option to restore... But iTunes doesn't pick it up?
Help please!!!
Hi lesleyfromtas,
If you are getting the icon screen directing you to connect the iPod Touch to iTunes but iTunes isn't recognizing the iPod, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

My iPad is disabled and I cannot connect to itunes - help
I am trying to connect my disabled iPad to itunes to reset the forgotten password. As suggested in another dicussion I have tried unplugging the USB and holding the home button on the iPad for 10 seconds and then replugging the iPad into the computer but my computer says itunes could not connect to the iPad because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter the passcode on the iPad before it can be used with itunes.
Please help....Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off iPad
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad -
my ipod is disabled and when i connect it to itunes it says that i have to enter my password but i cant because there is no swipe bar so what do i do to fix this?
Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to reset the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software. -

My iPod is disabled and it says connect to iTunes. The only way i found to fix it is to restore it but i don't want to loose all my data. What should i do?
You must restore it, losing anything you have failed to backup or store on your computer or cloud service.

My daughter's iPod touch is disabled and I cannot connect to iTunes
My daughter's iPod went crazy the other day making noises (she was no where around) and when I found it the message said that the iPod was Disabled and that it should be connected to iTunes.I tried this and it said that it might need an upgrade and possibly to be restored. I clicked ok but it only got so far through the software upload before it returned to Disabled. I did a little searching and tried the connect while holding the home button thinking this would work but alas - no joy! I've repeated this and gone in circles looking at discussions and now discovered that I cannot even turn off the iPod (with the slider) I held done the home button and on/off, restarted and then... you guessed it, disabled. Any help?
Have you tried following the recovery mode instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 and summarized as:

My daughter forgot her password and now her ipod touch is disabled and it stated to connect to itunes. I tried that and it didn't work. Help please!
Thank you!Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
Next try on another computer -
IPod is disabled and can't connect to iTunes
HI,
Can anyone help? My iPod touch is displaying a message " iPod disabled, connect to iTunes". When I try to connect to iTunes I get an error message "iTunes cannot connect this iPhone because of an unknown error 0xE8000065". Does anyone know what I need to do?
Thanks,
EllieHello,
I'am not 100% sure about your problem, but a few things are needed to know what happened. One, did you hack or jeilbreak your device? If yes then you pretty much got brickwd. If not, then did you try to put your iPod in DFU mode and then restore? (DFU - Power+Home button for 10 seconds HOLD, and then home for another 10 seconds.) Hope this helps, though I'amnot sure about the cause.

IPod Touch disabled and can't connect to iTunes?
My iPod touch 4th gen has been fully disabled so that it says 'connect to iTunes'. But when I do that, it says I need to unlock my iPod first, which I can't do because my iPod is disabled. What do I do? Also, I don't want to restore my iPod because I don't have some data backed up. Thanks.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. You have no other choise. In the future make sure you frequently backup your iPod.

I am trying to re-able my disabled iPod. It is a 4th Generation iPod touch 8gb. It has a crack screen and the lock/sleep button and the volume buttons do not work. It says in red ribbon on the top of the screen, "iPod is disabled Connect to iTunes". When I connect it to iTunes it doesn't show up in the left sidebar. Instead a message pops up and says, "iTunes could not connect to the iPod 'Madyz iPod' because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter you passcode on the iPod before it can be used with iTunes." What do I do? I would really appreciate help.(: thanks.
If you can't enter the passcode then you have to place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore the iPod via iTunes. For ecovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
Note that this requires using the sleep/wake button. If you are not successful then there is nothing else that I know you can do. -

Ipod touch scree frozen on zoomed mode despite restore - help please
my ipod touch screens have been frozen on zoomed mode . i did a restore thro itunes and even then it remains in a zoomed mode . screen is not responsive . any help please or is it a vist to the genius bar.
Hello manickam,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
See this article about how to disable the Zoom feature. Keep in mind that the controls or actions to navigate with your iPod will be slightly different due to this feature being on, which would explain why you are getting no response when touching the screen.
