My ipod is dying; it doesn't even want to be restored..
It started when I had to restart my computer while my ipod was connected to it.. I know I should not have done it but I was far from thinking that the consequences would be of this level.
My ipod has then frozen and I tried to reconnect my ipod to my computer and then it was not recognizing it anymore; I had messages like ' Mac OS X can not read the volume' asking either to reinitialize, to ignore or to reject. I ignored it.
Since then, I have been trying to reset it, then to restore it. I got the 'sad ipod' icon on my ipod a couple of times.. asking for help..
While using the ipod updater (latest version of course..), I have the following error message, appearing after 15 minutes: 'The data partition could not be found and could not formatted. Try later'. During all that time, my ipod is trying to communicate with my computer (I can hear it, it is like an old CD trying to play the same song over and over again without getting there).
Have you ever experienced that?
thanks for you help!!
This icon is usually indicative of a hard drive problem.
Have you tried erasing the iPod using disk utility? Or repairing it (first aid) using the same utility?
After that, you would need to restore it again using the iPod updater.
I think if this doesn't work, you made need to get it serviced.

HT1420 I cannot authorize my computer for my ipod. The option doesn't even appear!
I'm using my laptop now since my old computer is broken. But it won't let me authorize my new laptop. I can't access my other music and put it in my ipod, so this is very distressing.. What do I do?
The option to authorize it doesn't even show up though it still says my old broken computer is still authorized. (It's the only authorized computer, btw)There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them: -
My 6-week-old iPod simply died. No response even to power source. What gives?
I was playing my ipod 7G on a Bluetooth speaker. I paused play to take a phone call. Came back, and the ipod, which had been nearly fully charged, had ceased functioning. Black screen, not responsive to any buttons or to plugging into power source. Dead in the water. Is this a known problem with 7G?
Yes, it happens to some units. Have you tried the reset?

I got my screen fixed and the day i got my ipod touch 4th gen back the wifi doesnt work unless i hold it right up to my router. Roughly every foot I move back it loses a bar and if i leave the room it doesn't even have a signal completely. Could the screen replacement have tampered with the wifi capability? Also if it helps I switched internet providers and during the time when my ipod was being fixed a new router was installed and it doesnt seem to work unless directly infront of my ipod.
Take it back to where you had the screen replaced. They messed up the connection to the wifi antenna

I purchased the newest software update for my ipod touch 1st generation and it is saying it is it will now begin download but the status bar doesn't even appear? How can I start the download?
Well first off you shouldn't have had to pay for a download (just an assumption from the word "purchased".
If you are trying to install iOS 5 on your iPod touch, it won't work they arent compatible. I suggest checking what version of software you are trying to install and posting it in this forum so people can have a better understanding. -
hi i have ipod nano 4g i know that it has nike+ipod but i can't enable it. it doesn't even appear on screen can U tell me what is the reason?
That sounds like an idea.I've had trouble with Verizon a lot .I I switch ed back to a non andriod phone cause of the expense it took 3 months and at least that many hours of phone calls &store visits to straight in it out...there's been many times things are blocked and a month later its back on the bill,u call and are told they can't do anything ...not there problem, can't b fixed from there end,I asked to talk to a sup. At was told I couldn't then she said I'd b told the same thing I insisted...I was on hold for about 20 minutes I hung up tried to call back they would not answer, I called my daughter had her call they answered when she told them they tried to blow her off too, so she went down to a store and made a complaint.. I don't have a store in our town, the customer should not have Togo through all that trouble some of this is down right criminal... I'm going through more problems again....they won't Evan discuss it with me unless I pay what's owed and the amount has still got the internet fees they've never taken off.

My iPod classic wont connect to the computer. The light comes on but it doesn't even come up with 'connected' screen on the ipod. Have tried different computers, usb cables and ports, as well as restarting computer, updating itunes, and rebooting ipod. Still works in Logitech iPod player, however it has just wiped itself of all songs so at the moment I'm stuck with a useless iPod. Any suggestions please???
If you happen to have a USB docking cable that is new (or close to being new), try using that one. If the cause is the dock connector on the iPod becoming worn, if you try it with a cable that is not worn, it's possible that it may connect for data.
I believe the dock connector is internally part of the logic board, so it may not be economical to have a repair shop (including Apple Store Genius Bar) do the repair. You'll need to ask for pricing.
If you are good at such things, this web site has DIY repair guides

If it's the most recent iPod classic, it appears to be quite difficult to pry open. I have an older 4th gen (and 3rd gen) "classic" iPod, and those are fairly eash to pry open, using the plastic tools.
