My ipod is dying; it doesn't even want to be restored..

It started when I had to restart my computer while my ipod was connected to it.. I know I should not have done it but I was far from thinking that the consequences would be of this level.
My ipod has then frozen and I tried to reconnect my ipod to my computer and then it was not recognizing it anymore; I had messages like ' Mac OS X can not read the volume' asking either to reinitialize, to ignore or to reject. I ignored it.
Since then, I have been trying to reset it, then to restore it. I got the 'sad ipod' icon on my ipod a couple of times.. asking for help..
While using the ipod updater (latest version of course..), I have the following error message, appearing after 15 minutes: 'The data partition could not be found and could not formatted. Try later'. During all that time, my ipod is trying to communicate with my computer (I can hear it, it is like an old CD trying to play the same song over and over again without getting there).
Have you ever experienced that?
thanks for you help!!

This icon is usually indicative of a hard drive problem.
Have you tried erasing the iPod using disk utility? Or repairing it (first aid) using the same utility?
After that, you would need to restore it again using the iPod updater.
I think if this doesn't work, you made need to get it serviced.
