My ipod keeps on flashing the apple logo in a black background and i cant get it to turn on does it take a simple restore to fix this?

I need help my ipod touch 5g running ios 7.0.4 wont turn on all it has been doing is flashing the apple logo on a black background i cant stop this does anybody know what to do?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore.  When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

Please help me out as this is very irritating. This has been happening for the last 20-30 minutes. It had roughly half battery left.

I'm not sure if it charged when I hooked it up to my roommate's computer, but it definately didn't register either. If I put it on the dock it plays so the port is fine, but that still doesn't help me sync it to my computer.

  • My ipod touch flashes the apple logo and the lock screen. How do I fix it?

My ipod touch 4th Generation will flash from the Apple Logo to my locked screen.  Although when I plug in my headphones everything works perfectly.  I have not had this ipod very long and i have already recieved a new one from Apple before. I have also tried reseting it as well.

First try restoring the iPod from backup.
Next try restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • I dropped my phone in water and put in rice for 3 days and plugged it into my computer but it keeps flashing the Apple logo and a no charge sign. It also is not connecting to my computer and it does not say "Amelia's iPhone" in iTunes

  • Can someone help me get my IPOD Touch 3g started? It will only flash the Apple logo off and on. Has been through restore multiple times on different computers, and still will not start.

I have tried restoring the ipod on different computers, one Vista, and one 7. On both, the restore process seems to complete just as it should, until the point where it says "your IPOD will now restart and will appear in listed devices. This IPOD never restarts. The Apple logo just stays on for approximately 30 seconds and then the screen turns off for five or ten seconds and the logo comes back on, over and over for approximately forty five minutes or so, Occasionally the "connect to USB" will come back on, but that is rare. When that does happen, the I-Tunes recognizes it again as an IPOD that needs to complete the restore process. VERRRRRY AGGRAVATING!!!

Time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. It appears you have a hardware problem.

    Hey Jack,
It sounds like you may have encountered a software loop on your iPhone. This usually happens when the iPhone is disturbed during an update or it can happen during an update period. It is lots of reasons as to why this can happen. My solution to you Jack is to call 1-800-MY-APPLE and speak with an AppleCare advisor. My best guess is that your iPhone will need to be serviced.
    I hope this helps.

  • My iPhone 5 overheated yesterday and now it won't turn on. When I plug it to charge it only flashes the Apple logo. I've restored my device on iTunes but it's still not turning on. Help!

So I charged my phone yesterday but it didn't seem to get charged because the battery percentage went lower instead of higher after I plugged out my phone. Then the battery percentage subsequently got lower even faster, jumping from 28% to 15% within ~a minute. It was very hot too, so maybe overheating was the problem. Then I tried charging my phone again after leaving it to cool but it won't charge and keeps flashing the Apple logo.
    I've tried to no use:
    1. pressing the Power button and Home button together for a long time
    2. restoring my device (on iTunes it says that my phone's updated, but it still won't turn on)
Should I just send my phone to Apple for them to fix it or for a replacement?

I'm sorry, it seems that the problem is that my phone WON'T restore. I just tried restoring again and it keeps giving me the 2001 error. Help.

  • IPad 3rd Generation just started flashing the Apple logo

Searching the net for this issue, I find several discussions that recommend to put the device in recovery mode. The steps to put it in recovery mode are to turn it off. The standard way with the red slider does not work. Using both buttons to turn it off appears to work. The screen goes black.
The next step says to connect the USB cable to the computer but not the iPad. My computer is a Macbook Pro.
Next, I am to hold the home button, and while holding it, plug in the other end of the USB cable. Keep holding it until the iTunes sync screen displays.
When I follow this procedure, what happens is that the iPad reverts to flashing the Apple logo.
So what was I doing when the problem first occurred? Well, first I was trying to figure out how to get iTunes University content from my iPad onto my computer. Nothing I tried seemed to work. Yes, my computer is authorized. Yes I selected the transfer purchased content.
After none of those steps seemed to work, I decided to first make a backup. Good thing I did, considering my current predicament. Next, I enabled syncing of iTunes University. This warned me that stuff would be deleted from the iPad. OK. I expected that. That's why I made the backup.
I really don't know what the result of that was because I went off and did something else while the sync was taking place.
Meanwhile, since my iTunes University stuff was going to disappear, I looked into how to download it into iTunes on the computer. It took a while to figure out, but I think I figured it out properly. Anyway, while content was being downloaded into iTunes on the computer, that's when I noticed the logo flashing.
Is it possible that downloading content into iTunes on the computer could have been interfering with syncing the iPad and that's what caused the problem? Anyway, what do I do now?

Update on this issue - I got the phone to restart by forcing a restore with Itunes.  seems to be limping along again.
