Accidental damage is not covered by the warranty. That includes damage due to dropping the iPod. However. sometime the Genius at the Apple store ill exchange it at no cost. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

However, first try restoring the iPod. Maybe it will rresolve the problem.

I replaced the the screen and everything was working when i tested the iPod before screwing the backplate back on. When i closed the iPod, it had a white screen when i power up. I held the power and home button for 30 second and nothing happens. Hi Guys, my 6 year old dropped our ipad 2 onto a tiled floor & shattered the screen, the ipad is still working, and i have an appointment at the local Apple genius bar Sunday, i think i may have to pay £246 for the repair, so wondered if any of you good people had any suggestions on how to blag a free repair, i will be taking my son along, and beleive me he will be crying! popped along to the Apple store on sunday with my son (no he didn't cry ,) i think he found his utopia,Apple store with its array of shiny ipads, ipods and Macs.We was met by one of the staff, he was very helpful, explained the two options, either claim on the house hold insurance & pay the excess or pay Apple £240 to replace the ipad. we went for the second option and agreed to pay Apple.
at that point he explained how sorry he was for the unfortunate accident & gave us a 10% discount (of which i will invest in acting lessons for my child ) A JOKE!!!!
A protective case is now on my shopping list, with new rules in our house hold, If the ipad is to be use by my son he can only use it from the comfort of the non tiled very soft sofa.

Ipod screen blank, but will go into disk mode

hi, I have an ipod that does not work, and one that does work.
the one that works has a bad case with scratches and stuff. the one that is broken is good condition.
so i swapped the cases. the screen and click wheel are connected right.
THE IPOD WILL GO INTO DISK MODE BUT NOTHING HAPPENS ON THE IPODS SCREEN.
i can save the music, but i dont to buy a new ipod. i do have an extra screen.

I have the same kind of problem but Mine will work in all but the screen will go blank but will light up then it will come back, I have had this problem for about 2-3 months it also has lines up and down the screen I need help with this I am about to give up and buy a new one

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The standard warranty for a manufacturing defect causing a problem or failure is ONE year. If you purchased AppleCare for the iPod, that warranty is extended to TWO years. There was no "64GB" iPod classic (iPod that has a hard drive and click wheel). The closest to that is 80GB, and that would be from 2009 or earlier.
The current iPod classic is 160GB and costs $249.

IPod Help needed from serious Apple gurus - iPod Touch 2g 16g stuck in restart loop. Will NOT enter DFU or recovery mode, NOT recognized by iTunes on Windows or Mac

Ok, so here's the not so sad story. I bought an iPod Touch 2g 16g through Ebay - so forget warranties. Luckily I did not pay much. The description said it was stuck on the apple logo, so I figured it would be an easy put into recovery mode and restore problem.
Not so much.
If you plug the iPod in and charge up the battery the LCD will come to life after a while with the apple logo, then it displays the spinning wheel with the apple logo over it. That will last anywhere from 10 - 15 minutes, then the iPod will go blank for a few secs and then start up the cycle all over again.
As stated, this iPod will NOT enter either DFU or recovery mode and believe me I've tried it several times several different ways with different timings, connected via USB to a Mac, connected to a different Mac running Windows, and connected to just the charger. Nothing. Occasionally the screen might go blank while holding the power and home buttons but nothing else happens and then it starts it's usual cycle again.
Again, iPod NOT recognized by iTunes on either Mac or Windows side. Since I got off Ebay and seller didn't know much about it, I have no idea if someone tried to jailbreak this or not.
I will not put much money into this machine. So I guess my question is: does this behavior mean that the motherboard is clearly fried? Are there any software programs that might diagnose what the problem is? Could it be as simple as a fried battery?
And most importantly, is this iPod simply toast or is there anything anyone can suggest????
Really any suggestions would be greatly greatly appreciated. Seems a shame to just trash an iPod touch that might need a simple fix...
If it helps matters, I can tinker with iPods somewhat and have torn down and replaced several iPod touch 1g and 2g glass and digitizers with no problems. I'm somewhat software savvy but the whole jailbreak thing is new territory... and I can't really figure out the command in Windows or Mac terminals to list all connected devices so I have no idea if the computer even knows the iPod is there, even if iTunes doesn't. Guess that's it... ummm, please help???
