As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

My ipod all of a sudden blacked out and now it only shows the apple icon. When i press the on/off or home button it still remains with the apple icon. I tried plugging it to my lap top and going to i tunes but it says there is an error in the device

I was looking through my pictures and when i tapped to see a specific one my ipod blacked out. Now the screen only shows the apple icon and I cant go anywhere. I tried preshing the on/off and home button but it won't work. I even pressed both at the same time for 10 seconds and still nothing... I connected it to my lap top and went to my itunes account but it tells me that the device that i just plugged in has an error. I havn't had it for a whole year yet so its still insured to the apple company right? at least thats what I heard

Ical events duplicated on ipod touch 4g so I deleted them, and now they do not appear anywhere except on the iPod. I have mobile me set up to sync and OS10.6.8 on the MBpro

Can I get these events back in iCal or do I have to re enter them? Is there a way to 'revert'? How do I get the ipod calendar to not duplicate events?

should clarify that I deleted duplicate events on the ipod so that should have left one in ical. there is still one listed in ical on the ipod but not on the computer, so deleting duplicate entry deleted it entirely from my ical on computer and mobile me. no icloud yet

HT1711 I have recently upgraded to IOS 7 and now cannot rate my songs in itunes. I single click on the song and hit the applicable dot under ratings which usually then converted to a star. Now it does nothing when I click on the dot. What's wrong?

Since I upgraded to the latest IOS, I cannot get Itunes to rate my songs. My ratings determine which playlist my songs are entered into. For two days, I've tried to rate the last 4 songs I downloaded but when I click on the songs to bring up the 5 little dots, nothing happens when I click on the applicable dot. Normally I get the stars but not now. Can someone tell me what's going on and what I have to do to make rating a song work? Thank you!

I want to do the following things but can't find one device that fits all purpose.
Wi-Fi router that has USB port to share external hard disk wirelessly to all devices (Mac, Samsung Smart TV, PC, Ipad, Iphone) along with inbuilt torrent download capability that also has a 3.5mm jack to do airplay.
Greedy? Yes I know but why can't we have it all I ask.

Then there are other non-apple routers in market that satisfy my need to attach external hard disk and stream to the devices mentioned (Note: Timecapsule will not stream to my Smart TV)
So I am thinking why not connect both Airport Express and a second non-apple router and get best of both worlds.

Had you FaceTime before?

If you manually manage music... on iTunes 11, go to the top left corner and there will be a pull down bar. Click "show menu bar". From there, go to view, then show sidebar. Magically, it looks like the previous versions of iTunes. Took me 3 hours of trial and error and searching through forums to figure out. Tried calling Apple to have them walk me through it and they said they wouldn't help me since I don't have Apple Care. Whatever. Hope this helps!!

This is in regards to a 4th gen 40gb clickwheel ipod.
Hi, i've also been having a very similar problem with my ipod as well. I find that regardless of which windows-based pc i use (either my xp laptop @ home, or my win2000 desktop @ work) windows and itunes refuses to recognise my ipod. In windows explorer it will show it as a removable drive, but if i click on it, windows freezes. If I try to disconnect it, I cant because windows keeps reporting that 'the device is being used, try disconnecting later' and so then i shut down my laptop to disconnect it safely.
Lately, like you, i've also noticed that clicking sound it makes. It happens when i connect my ipod to my computer - like the drive inside it is constantly restarting or something, and i get it when i'm playing / charging it in my dock. I've also noticed that when it's playing whilst charging, it just freezes on a song, then skips a couple of songs.
I've just discovered the disgnostic tools on my ipod, so i think i'll run a couple of tests (ie HDD scan) and depending on the outcome, i'll go visit the apple store.

That is about normal. You can maximize battery life by changing some settings. See:

Under Part 9. Verify that USB drivers are installed, did you try the steps in If only "Unknown Device" appears? That appears to be your situation.
Also, you said that the shuffle initially worked well enough to do a sync, then it had the same problem again. If you can get it to work again initially, before doing anything else, try the following. Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Over to the right, go to the Summary tab. By default, the checkbox for Enable disk use should be unchecked. If so, check it and Apply the change. See if that makes any difference.
(If Enable disk use was already checked, try unchecking it and Apply the change. Basically, set it the "other way" and see if there is any improvement.)
NOTE: When disk use is enabled, you have to eject the iPod in iTunes before disconnecting it physically.
If the disk use change makes a difference, that may provide a clue about the actual cause.

I have an Alpine radio with an iPod dock adapter to let me control my iPod through my head unit. This had worked great with my Nano, but I heard that these adapters didn't work well with the iPhones. Mostly due to interference / feedback from the phone being heard through the speakers.
However, I was suprised at the compatiblity mine had with the iPhone, especially being that it is a couple years old (the apadpter). When you plug the iPhone in it says that the device may not be compatible with the iPhone and that you should put the phone in "airplane mode." I just kept my nano plugged in as I thought that I didn't want the equivalent of turning my phone OFF when driving, so one day I tapped NO. Well, to my suprise, I did not hear any feedback or interference through my stereo. And, In fact, While I was driving, I received a call and the music stopped and the phone rang!
So, your mileage may vary on whichever brand adapter you use, but I have found that it works just fine for me. Hope this helps.
