My ipod touch 2 no longer recognizes or syncs new playlists from my computer. But it does takes the playlists from the ipod and syncs to the computer. This is a reverse process - what am I doing wrong? It always synced the correct way in the past.

Hello. Since downloading the new format assoc'd w/ Itunes10.1 my Ipod touch no longer automatically syncs. Is there something simple I'm missing ?

I would first remove and reinstall all the Apple software by:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
The drivers in windows that sees the iPod as a camera is different that the drivers that see the iPod in iTunes. -
please help i have an ipod touch downloaded several audio books for it. backed up ipod and synced with itunes now the ipod has no audio books on it and they are in itunes but i can not get them back on to the ipod. apples systems are incredibly awkward. any other system allows for mp3's etc to be drag and drop not this long winded and what appears to be a complete waste of time. you buy things and once synced you loose it and cant put it back
Are audiobooks still configured to sync to your iPod Touch via the iPod's Books configuration tab in iTunes? To check, plug your iPod in and select it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes. This will bring you to the Summary tab. Locate the Books tap along the top and select it. Here you can configure how and what audiobooks sync to your device.
Or if you want to manually drag and drop audiobooks onto your iPod, you'll have to enable the device for manual management. See here for more details.

IPod Touch Won't Recognize USB Cables
My 4th gen iPod Touch no longer recognizes my USB cables. They won't work through my computers and they won't work through a wall charger. My iPod charges fine through my JBL Sound Stage, it's just a problem with the cables. If I plug either cable into my iPod, nothing happens. No beeps, no messages, no charging screen, nothing.
I think I can pinpoint the problem until shortly after I purchased a spare cable, but that may very well be a coincidence. I've been using a third party wall charger, so that could be an issue as well- but it has never been a problem until after I purchased the new cable (can cables "burn out"?). I'd reset my iPod, but I need a cable to do that. So far I've just been charging via my JBL Sound Stage and syncing over WiFi.If you have tried multiple computers and multiple USB sync cables, that definitely points to a hardware issue with your iPod Touch. Have you check the dock connector port for any signs of damage or debris that could be blocking or preventing the connection? Take a can of compressed air and trying blowing it out and using a Q-tip or similar to clean the contacts.
You'll likely need to have the iPod serviced or replaced. If still under warranty, take it into your local Apple store and see what they can do for you.

All of a sudden, my ipod touch will only recognize/play purchased items. I then have to completely reset the ipod and re-sync. I've had to do this 6 times, and support has been no help.
So you also rebooted your router correct? Does the iPod still connect okay to other networks?

Thanks for responding. Since I upgraded ITUNES to IOS 6, my IPOD Touch no longer works at all. I had numerous apps, music and videos on this touch. It made me restore to factory reset and it still does not work!!! Nothing I do will work on this touch now. I have so much data on this, I don't want to loose or have to restore!

I recently upgraded my computer from OSX 10.5 to 10.8.3. But while my iPad seems to sync fine, my iPod touch no longer syncs and it is not recognized by the Apple store. Please help!
When I plug in my ipod, a message pops up that says:
"This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPod (my ipod name). Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?
>If you do not authorize this computer, 191 songs will be removed from the iPod"
I click "authorize"
Enter my apple ID (note that for some reason it keeps bringing up an apple id from 2006, even though the computer and ipod are from 2011 and 2010.)
Then it says "this computer is already authorized"
And every time I plug it in, the same thing happens.

2 problems after the latest iOS update:
(1) my 3rd generation iPod Touch no longer changes when connected to the computer through the USB connection. It says that the device is not supported for connection through USB. My computer is running Snow Leopard and all software is up to date.
(2) it also does not output sound through my clock radio nor through the built-in ipod connection in my MINI.
This all worked great until the latest iOS update. Something broke in the latest update.
anyone else seeing this issue?You can try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If still problem then the iOS broke full compatibility. you have to then wait for either Apple to fix the problem in an iOS update or for Honda to fix it via a firmware update/

My iPod touch is not showing up in my computer, or in itunes. Apple store says the connector port on the bottom is fried and won't ever connect to a computer via USB cable again. It still charges thru the wall charger, tho, and works fine otherwise.
How can I get music onto my iPod touch via either wifi, or perhaps 3rd party apps like Dropbox?
I know I can buy music thru itunes and do the automatic download onto the itunes on my iPod touch...but I have alot of music in mp3 format already on my laptop that I converted from old CDs and want to know how to get those albums/songs onto my iPod touch and my iPod's itunes.

Thanks for the response- sounds like I either have to settle for keeping the iPod i've got and never putting new music onto it...or break down and spend the money on a new one. This one is barely past its warranty, tho, so it's tough to spend that kind of $ yet again for another iPod that won't last very long.
Does anyone know of any 3rd party repair people who can fix iPod touch?
