No, The SN will only help identify the iPod as yours if it is replaced.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
- Apple will do nothing without a court order

My ipod was stolen, can I find out what the serial number of it is, based on looking at a connection history in my itunes? How would I do this? I didn't register it. I think I found the guy selling it, just looking to confirm the serial number and I'll make a phone call to the police.

so my iphone 5 kept crashing and i brought it to the apple store and got a new replacement phone. Unfortunately for me the next day it got stolen, i have the find my iphone app but it says my device is offline so i cant track it nor can i wipe the contents. I have blocked my sim, but someone told me that i could get the product itself blocked so that the horrible theif cannot use it at all. Since it was a replacement product and i lieterally just got it i dont have the serial or imei number to get it blocked. Would apple have a record of the replacement devices number? i tried using the online chat but it wont work becausae i dont have the serial number or anything. thanks in advance for your help.

IMEI number carrier can track a device with but only way to do it is when the police bring a warrent

Serial number will not help, except reporting it to the police.
Unless you enabled Find my iPod, and the iPod is online, you cannot track it. -
I need answers on how to find or track my 8GB Ipod Touch. The only thing i have is my phone and the computer to track it down somehow. I have the serial number and I just need help trying to locate it somehow.
You can't track it with the serial number. If you had an iPod Touch running iOS 5 later AND set up Find my IPod on it, then there is a chance you might be able to locate it by going to www.icloud.com, logging in with your Apple ID and clicking Find my IPod. Of course, the iPod still needs to be on and connected to a Wi-Fi network in order for it to be located.
If nothing else, report it to the police and change any and all passwords to any accounts you set up or used on the iPod.
Apple otherwise cannot help you.

there should be a back up on your friends computer of your phone when it was restored. If there is all you need to do is restore from that backup and your good to go, I just hope that you did not plug your phone into there computer 2 times.
The first thing you will need to do is turn of automatic sync and then you can plug your phone in and restore from the backup that should have been made -
I am trying to install Lightroom and I am OK until it asks for a serial number. I purchased Lightroom from B&H and the have entered the seal number on the the B&H invoice. Nothing happens, not all the entry boxes are filled with the serial number that was provided by B&H. I looked for a serial number on and in the box it came in, nada. The only other way would be through Apple, assuming you bought it at an Apple store or at least registered it. Stop by the store or call their support number.

You cannot locate it with the serial number.
IF you activated find my ipod on the ipod itself, BEFORE it was lost, AND it is on, AND it is connected to wi-fi, then you may be able to find the registered street address of the router to which it is connected.
