Disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application instead.
PDF files may be found under entries like Portable document or Adobe PDF document or Adobe Acrobat Document.

Open Automator
Choose Folder Action for type of document
At the top, for Folder action receives files and folders added to, select Other...
in the window that opens, select your Downloads folder, and then Choose
from the Actions on the left, drag Filter Finder Items over to the column on the right
Where it says Any Content, select Kind
Where it says Any, select music
Drag Move Finder Items over to the rightfor To: select other, and navigate to your user folder > Music > iTunes > iTunes Media > Automatically Add to iTunes

When I start iTunes I get the following message. "A required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall iTunes (-42404)". I have installed the latest version of iTunes but still get this message. Can anyone help?

iTunes has various components bundled with it that it requires for general usage. I advise that we completely remove iTunes and all of these related components, verify that they have been removed, then reinstall. To do so, please follow the steps in this article:

Note: it is important to remove the 7 components in order. Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.

I click on a yahoo new article, it displays for a few seconds and then I get a blank screen.
It happens only in Firefox,not explorer. When I click on a yahoo news article, it displays for a few seconds and then goes to a blank screen. I've run virus scans, eliminated all cookies, all to no avail.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") -

I recently updated my old '04 macbook pro to snow leopard 10.6.8, when I went to open an old word doc., it opened with iwork and will not allow me to print until I update to iwork'08. Try resetting your SMC and NVRAM before attempting to install again.

The NVRAM/PRAM stores information such as speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, and recent kernel panic information (if any). You should reset the NVRAM/PRAM if you experience issues relating to these functions.
Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…
Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.
Turn on the computer by pressing the Power Button.
On the built-in keyboard, press and hold the Command (⌘), Option (⌥), P, and R keys before the gray screen appears.
Continue to hold down the keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup chime for the second time.
Release the keys on the built-in keyboard.

I guess you can see how new i am to this, I typed my whole question in the subject. Any way, i bought this macbook pro used, no disks, need to do a complete wipe and reinstall. is there anywhere i can download the install disks to burn to dvd? First determine what system you really have.
Apple menu -> About This Mac.
If it is 10.7, you don't need installer discs, because there is a recovery partition:

If indeed it is 10.6.something then you'll want to call AppleCare for the discs.

If they determine the machine is older than 10.6's initial release (August 28, 2009), you'll want to purchase 10.6 retail, and/or 10.7 retail from the Apple Store.

My system is Windows 7 SP1 fully updated with Norton 360 a/v
My problem is as follows:
Installed Firefox with no difficulty
It opened normally
Used and setup Google News UK as default page with no difficuly and page opened normally.
But then trried to open individual items in Google News and every time got message Internet Explorer cannot open this site
Set up a bare Windows 7 SP1 drive and installed Firefox and continued with same message when opening items on the page
I also use both MSN and Yahoo browsers and neither have any problems
I have repeated the process in Windows 8 beta with the same result

First of all, forgive me cuz I'm probably NOT the sharpest "chip in a laptop" but I use Internet Explorer as my ISP(I've heard that GOOGLE CHROME is soo much better??) and Google as my search engine. For some reason(I know, probably USER idiot!!) even though I have set in my "internet connections" tab, www.google.com chosen, the minute I click a new tab to look for something else, that dreaded "about blank" or maybe "blank page" comes up.....wtheck???? It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

As I try to fast forward my selected clip, the video preview section goes blank and the clip doesnt get fast forwarded. I have to restart the imovie in order to be able to get the preview back. and in all this, the clip inspector never works. I updated my mac's software several times hoping that it would resolve the issue but nothing of that kind happened. Please help me.
Select the clip in the timeline and then the drop down menu should work okay. You can hold down the control key and click on the clip to get the drop down menu and select retime editor.

I am very troubled with my ipod touch because I don't see my ipod folder showing up on my computer. i have tried all possible ways to make it viewable but somehow i end up seeing only my internal storage (dcim/pictures). Its really frustrating because bought a new laptop with windows 8 and installed a new itunes but only to find out that i cant transfer my songs right away.... I can connect my ipod touch to the itunes swiftly but to transfer my songs from my ipod to my computer is such a hassle. so please if anyone could help me figure this out... Did plugging it into another USB port do any good? Make sure it is a USB port on the back of your PC and not via a USB hub or one on the front as they sometimes do not output enough power for the iPod to properly communicate with your PC.
Do you have another 30 pin dock connector cable around you use to try and rule out a faulty cable?
Did you try a hard reset of the device with it still connected to your PC? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
With the article above were you able to verify that the Apple Mobile Device Service was installing and running on your system?
Lastly, try plugging it into a different PC to see if it is recognized there. It can help narrow down whether it is an issue with the iPod or with your PC.

I had this same issue last week with my 3g. Did you happen to recently have your carrier unlock your phone? I did, and I wonder if that has anything to do with it?
For me, it started with loosing the signal, then after shutting down and turning on my phone about 3 times, I got a message saying that I would need to do a restore. When I tried to do the restore, it went through all the steps until step 6 or 7 I think and then I just get an error message on itunes that says there was error 1- or -1 and that the restore failed. My phone now just shows a pic of a usb plug with a globe above. Total fail. It was an old phone and as I was out of contract and just waiting to get the new iphone 5, I just went and got the new phone. The only issue now is that I cannot sync my new iphone and get all of my contacts, apps, files, etc etc which is totally annoying to say the least and a whole different story!
