My n80 crashed by the repair center

I purchased my phone last May 2006. I dropped it once and after it, the screen just goes blank sometimes so I send it to a (third party) repair center, thinking it would just be the flex... and they said it was. But they don't have the parts available for it. so I checked the nokia support in the website looking for a local authorized repair center. That's where I saw Brightpoint in Escario St. Cebu. Before they receive the phone, they knew that it is still working and I can still make calls with it. To make the story shorter, I can't use my phone now. It will not turn on. They said that after they reflashed the ROM or the firmware (im not sure), the phone did not respond. And when after awhile, they said the motherboard is damaged. I called Manila for help...and there is no one there to help. I've been a nokia customer since nokia launched the first nokia phone in the philippines..purchasing nokia phones almost every high-end's release. I hope someone can help me with this.

I don't think the motherboard is the issue here.
As a matter of fact, they received it as working...just with blank screen. I don't think I broke it... I'm pretty sure, one of their technician did it. In the first place, why did they not tell us through the phone when I called, that the motherboarf is broken. Why is it that they kept on saying that it was caused by reflashing the phone. They don't have fix reason. All I have now is a dead n80 phone. What a pain...
Thank you for replying...I appreciate it.

If it was replaced then you should be able to restore a back up of your phone

If you received a note it will tell you what they found and why they could not repair. It depends on the situation

    This is ridiculas now.
My phone was just away for two weeks, and the problem is still there!  the screen is black in a call and it will not come back!!
THIS IS A PROBLEM THEY MUST SOLVE, NOT JUST BLAME IT ON A SCREEN PROTECTOR.
My phone dosent even have a screen protector, and I know where the sensor is. its totally clean and unobstructed.
    What do I do now?!

Tbh I think that nokia repair centres are useless.
My phone bricked itself, I took it to a repair centre on the 28th of December, and have just found out They cannot fix it, and are sending it back to the store. They also put a red nokia 920 in as a black 900
Absolutely pathetic service, especially when you add in that i didnt get a temp phone, so i was without a mobile for a week and half, till i got back to my trusty n8.

Here are some HP CD/DVD Burners at Newegg.  One of them should work for you.
As for installing the drive, it should be fairly easy.  If both sides of the case can be removed, it will make it much easier.  Just make notes when you remove the old one.  This is what I do when I replace any component.

  • Please help me...major issues with authorized repair center

I could really use the advice of those more "techie" than myself. About a month ago, my iBook G4 crashed on me. I brought it to an authorized repair center and they replaced the hard drive for $270. When I got it home, it seemed to be acting funny - freezing, slower, etc. I noticed that About this Mac under the Apple menu said it had 128 MB of memory, yet when I brought it into the repair center it had 256 MB. Yet when I installed an extra memory card I had laying around it said 600-something (I forget), which is impossible, because my Mac can only hold 512 MB total. Anyway, very long story short, I've brought it back once to complain that my computer wasn't preforming the way it used to. I was told two things. One, it's because I'm running Tiger on an old machine (bullsh*t, I ran Tiger since July with NO problems). Second, they said my computer is screwy because I'm running 10.4.4, which is known for having bugs. Is this true? The same day they told me there was "nothing wrong with your iBook, sorry" it crashed again, and I can't get it to start! I've made an appointment with the owner of the repair shop, and I'd like to be able to defend myself because I think they screwed up. I'd like them to fix it for free, or refund my money and get the HD back. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated. Sorry this is so long, I love my Mac
PS...I got it to start for about 3 minutes lastnight before it crashed again. I cannot open the Finder, and anything on the Dock that I try to click on shows a large grey question mark. What's that mean?

Did you inform the repair center that your RAM reported had dropped? Tiger I would not run on anything less than 512 MB of RAM anyway. I've read stories that repair centers frequently remove any third party RAM you might have installed, and this may be another one such case.
The gray question mark means the files have basically relocated themselves to someplace the system can't find them. If you didn't move anything, it is possible the directory got munged. To repair the directory, first make sure your data is backed up, and then follow these instructions:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
If that indicates something it can't fix, get Alsoft Disk Warrior 3.0.3.
It is possible the RAM you have in there is bad, and that may be why you are detecting less RAM too. RAM can go bad at anytime. So can the memory slot itself go bad. And frequently the issues which make it go bad are undetectable by any hardware test. Though if a hardware test detects an issue with RAM, that's believable.

  • Nokia Repair Center And Customer Service

Hello, I am contacting you today regarding a problem that I have with the repair center. The reason that I am contacting YOU, is because no else (Email support or customer services phone numbers) that I have been dealing with seem to know they are doing, and have not been of much assistance at all.
    Now here lies the problem,
I sent my Nokia N-8 in for warranty repair and it was received and (supposedly) repaired and sent back to me on 3-14-11. When I received the phone a couple of days later I noticed that the problem was not fixed. So I repacked it and and sent it back with a note describing the problem with the phone in detail.
It was received and signed for by Salas R at the Forth Worth repair center on 3-21-11.
7 days go by and I notice that the "repair status" of my phone changes from "In queue to evaluated for repair" to "Shipped repair original phone" on 3-14-11.
Now how could my phone be shipped on 3-14 when it wasn't received until 3-21.
This was the old ship date and included with it was the old tracking number.
So begins the emails and phone calls.
Every email reply was very generic  and could have been sent to anyone, never answering my questions or making any references to my specific problem. (like they didn't even bother reading my email)
There was no indication of when or how this matter would be resolved, only promises of a phone call that took about 3 days and 2 more emails to come.
When I finally received a call on 4-4-11 The person told me that my phone was shipped to me on 3-30-11 but he did not have any tracking information. He said he would get that information and call me back. He did not. So The following day 4-5-11 I called back and I was told that the person who was handling my case was not in and that he would be in at 12:00 pm
Eastern time and he would call me.
    He did not call.
So I called back. Now, I was told  that they would have to contact the repair center and find out the status of my phone.
You mean to tell me that I been sending emails and making phone calls for a week and nobody has contacted the repair center to find out what happened to my Phone.
    What have they been doing?
So this person does call me back about 10 minutes later and says they have lost my phone and that they would send me a new one, BUT, they don't have any in stock.
So I ask him, why is it that on the Nokia website it shows all colors of the N-8 As  "IN STOCK".
His reply was "those are for the sales department".
So you mean that if anyone wants to buy a new N-8 you have one for them, But for me,  who's phone YOU LOST, You don't have any.
Nothing for the person that has been without a phone  for a month now due to YOUR incompetence.
Now I ask you, Is this how you do business. Is this how Nokia operates. I sent my phone for warranty repair and you lost it. SO REPLACE IT.
I understand mistakes are made. We all make mistakes,
But you have to accept responsibility for them. I just want my phone back.
If you have any interest in helping me with this matter here is some information that might be useful to you.
    My case number is: 1-11589768441

Unfortunately my friend, as sad and annoying as your story is, this is a user to user help forum and issues such as yours need to be resolved with Nokia Direct, you can try the contact us section on the web site, or persist with the repair centre that lost your phone, but other than offer sympathy, there is nothing anyone here can do to help you
Good luck, and I hope your replacement arrives quickly !

  • Repair center warranty process

    Hey guys
I have a dv9700t laptop which is like 3 years old and still under warranty.
my screen burnt out  part #
    "447990-001
17.0-inch WSXGA+ TFT WVA bright view (BV) dual lamp display panel - Features the glossy bright view (BV) technology - With microphone and webcam"
HP tells me they dont have the part so I was upgraded to a case mamanger who asked me to sent it in because service senter might have the part...
My question: If HP does not have the part how could the service center have it? where do they get their parts from? I am hoping they dont have it and I get a n upgarde computer probably a dv7t
is there a way to find out what the repair center has in stock and how they deal with it when they dont have it?
has anyone gotten an upgrade computer from a case manager for parts not being availble for their old computer
    thanks guys

sorry to hear but in all honesty, it is your responcibilty to secure your data; not theirs.  making an image of your system and saving to an exernal drive for safe keeping would have been the prudent thing to do.  I've never heard of a repair being made that quickly.  Typically the user is w/o their computer for a few weeks or longer.

  • Please Repair Center contact info.

I need an e-mail in order to contact with the repair center. I have one thinkpad X200 under warranty and I need a way to contact with them because my laptop died while ago. I have contacted by phone but it would be easier if I had a way to contact by e-mail, I'm living on spain so I don't speak english very well.
What I need to tell them is that I have family on the US and what should I do?, ship my laptop directly to Lenovo or my family. The main problem is that I want to contact with them instead my family because the laptop needs repair and it would be easier if I had an email. Thank you. If that's not possible I will need at least a phone to contact with the repair service of lenovo, not the contact number that is showed on the page of lenovo.com.

Submit a technical question or open a service request.
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

  • Sony repair center lost my phone. Customer support is hanging up on me.

I really hope someone can help me or at least point me in the right direction. I sent in my xperia z3 d6603 for repair over 3 months ago. 2 weeks later I was informed the repair was complete and the phone was being shipped back to me. A week later, having still not receieved the phone, I checked the tracking number and saw that Sony had contacted UPS and requested the phone be returned to them. This is the last I ever heard of the phone. I called support and was told I would be contacted by the repair center. I was never contacted. I called several more times and was told someone would contact me. I still have not been contacted. I still call the support center every few days in the hope someone can help me. The support reps either lie and tell me the phone is in the mail and I will receive a tracking number which never comes, or they simply put me on hold until I am disconnected. I don't know who else to contact. This has been going on for over 3 months now and its starting to seem like I will never get my phone back. I don't know who else to contact since customer support doesn't seem to have the ability to resolve this issue.

I'm sorry to hear that but if UPS lost the phone I believe there's an insurance that will cover this issue. Also it'll be wise to contact BBB http://bbb.org/
and if you contact Sony Xperia Care again, make sure to try to do it through live chat.

  • How come the repair cost of a MacBook Pro cost more than a brand new unit?

My nephew bought her Mac Book Pro last June 2012. During the time that floods hit metro manila where she is studying, her Mac Book Pro (13in) happend to have been damped wet by water. Still running but it seems the batter got problem.  So she brought her unit to SM North Edsa ( Annex) Mac Center for possible repair.  The Mac Center told my nephew that the unit will be brought somewhere  in Mandaluyong - Apple Service Center.   After a few days she received a message from the Mac Center telling her that the repair cost will be a whooping P88,000.00  almost twice the cost of her unit when she bought it. My sister ( my nephew's mother) was fuming asking me how come the cost of repair is so great, it is better to buy a new one.
Is this really true?  I wonder what others may have experienced bringing their unit for repair and finding out that the cost of repair is such... APPLE IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS...  IS THIS THE KIND OF AFTER SALES SERVICE THAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU... PLEASE explain it to me.. thanks

And mind you dear APPLE believers, this also happens to my BOSS' Mac Book Air, which was brought also to an Apple Center for repair due to White Screen of Death... The repair center told my boss that the repair would cost him P68,000 pesos... the new Mac Book Air is only P47,990.00.   Who in his right mind agree to such a repair cost which costs more than a brand new unit...  If this is so... then APPLE is not a good brand after all...  Anyone who had the same story?
BTW  i tried to revive the unit by following some repair tips from the internet... and I was able to revive it without spending a dime.... I am not a technician... just wondering what kind of SKILLS those technicians at the Apple Repair Centers have in the Philippines...

  • Repair Center hours of operation?

Does anybody know the Repair center hours of operation? I would like to call them, but when I do, I get into a queue, with no indication of how much time I will have to wait for a person to answer. I was on hold for about 30 minutes over the weekend, but then began to wonder if they are even open.
Does anyone have an email or webform that can be used to initiate a repair ticket? I don't really have time to wait on hold for an hour.....especially if I'm waiting on hold in an after hours situation when my call will never be answered, yet I'll be allowed to wait on hold with no info.
    Thanks in advance!!

One should NEVER try to update the bios using WIndows on a system that isn't working properly.  It's best to update it using a self booting disk.
the good news is that as long as the Boot Block hasn't been borked (and in a properly written bios it shouldn't be) you can create a self booting bios update disk that should repair the problem.  You will need to setup a self booting disk with the bios flash utility and bios file and an autoexec.bat file configured to run the flash utility automatically.  How you go about this depends on what type of bios you have (AMI, Award, or Phoenix).  This link covers the basics, but may not handle every possible situation.
Good luck and remember to NEVER update the bios from within WIndows.

  • Laptop keyboard that Repair Center took picture of is not the same as the one I mailed in

A little over a week ago I sent my DV7 laptop into HP to have the sound fixed, apparently the sound ports had gone bad. Nothing else was wrong with the machine.  I had worked with the chat technician for around 45 minutes, allowing him access to the computer and all he could find was that the sound ports hardware neeed replacing. Again, the machine was working beautifully except for the sound. After I got the box, I got it correctly packed and picked up by FedEx. After a week I get a call from support telling me there is water or liquid damage not covered by the warranty, do I want to pay $240 to get it repaired. I knew there had never been water damage to my machine. I argued with him and he came down fifty percent to $117. I was not happy. But later, when I got the pictures, I knew from the picture of the keyboard with water spots that it was not mine. I called back and this person allowed me to go up the ladder to the Escalation team. I was called back and the charge I paid with a credit card would either not be charged or reimbursed. I was happy about that until...
Until I got this note about the repair and the parts needed for repair
    FAN - HEAT SINK
    1 685445-001 SYSTEM BOARD
    1 684559-001 TOP COVER - TOUCHPAD
    685445-001 KEYBOARD
Had all these parts had been bad, I could not have continued to use my machine with no problems for 2 days, let alone allow a tech to enter my machine with the applet I installed to see the inside and control it. All that was wrong with the machine I sent in was sound. The machine they are saying is fixed is not mine. And, as I said, the picture of the water stained keyboard/ control pad almost looke photoshopped. That was not the machine I had put into the FedEx box a week before. Anyone ever heard of something like this?  Again, this machine had no water damage ever while I had it. It was not until HP service got their hands on it was there anything like this.
I am receiving a machine by Tuesday. I don't even know, after all this that it will be my machine. I know I had several stickers on the top of the machine so that will be one test. Of course finding the serial number may be the next, unsure of that. I always just let HP go into my machine when I chat online for help to find all that info. But, my Lord, the pictures sent to me were horrible. Like something left outside in the rain for days. This machine was wonderful and I never would have allowed anything to happen to it that HP has said had happened. I am sure, as I said, that I would not have been able to use it for several days as I waited for the box if it was as the service center said and sent pictures of. I am at a loss. Could it all be just a mistake? Again, I will see on Tuesday, April 1 and write back here about what is what.
UPDATE: Though not an explanation of the mystery, HP truly made up for all the worry and confusion of the mysterious water damage. I am very happy all round about everything.

  • HT1420 I am unable to authorise my iPod Classic on my new harddrive.  All previous hardrives over the years have crashed or been repaired and I never deuathorised the iPod at the time. Can you help me to authorise it please?

I am unable to authorise my iPod Classic on my new hard drive.  All previous hard drives have crashed or been repaired and I never deauthorised the iPod at the time. Can you help me to authorise it please?

    Hello zoefromoranmore,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
In order to deauthorize devices which you no longer have, you will have to use the deauthorize all command, found in the article below.
    Deauthorize all computers
If need to deauthorize your computer but you can't access it, you need to deauthorize all computers. After you authorize 2 computers, you'll have the option to deauthorize all computers for your Apple ID. You can deauthorize all computers once per year.
Why should I deauthorize all of my computers?
To make sure that only you can play your content, or to free up authorizations used by your old computers. Here's when you should deauthorize all computers:
    Your computer doesn't work anymore
You sold or gave away a computer and didn't deauthorize it first
What happens when I deauthorize all computers? Will I lose my content?
Just like deauthorizing a single computer, you won't delete anything if you choose to deauthorize all computers. You just won't be able to play content that you bought from iTunes on those computers until you reauthorize them. You need to have the computer to reauthorize it.
How do I deauthorize all of my computers?
Using one of your authorized computers, follow these steps:
Open your account in iTunes (you may need to sign in with your Apple ID). Or open iTunes, click Store > Sign In, and enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Deauthorize All.
The Deauthorize All button appears only if you have more than 2 authorized computers. If you don't see the Deauthorize All button, that means you only have one authorized computer.
I deauthorized all of my computers. What should I do now?
Reauthorize each computer that you want to use with iTunes. Go to Store > Authorize this computer and enter your Apple ID and password.
    Deauthorize your computer using iTunes

    Take care,
    Alex H.
