You ought to have backed up your data before nuking Windows...
    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

    Hi shldr2thewheel,
it has been a while since we have last spoke, I would like to let you know, I am still working on getting used to the switch from windows to a Mac/Apple system. I do have a new question for you, I did purchase In Design CS5.5 through journeyed.com through Cuyahoga Community College of which I attend as a student, is there a way to purchase an online book through iTunes to learn that as well? Also, you know me, the struggling student, I would also, when and if the book can be purchased through the iTunes, would need to know if you do know of a much easier book for struggling students like myself and at a reasonable price as well for the In Design CS5.5 program. Our campus bookstore had closed early, and, so did the colleges library and our local library here where I do live, so, I cannot go to either place to purchase a book or to take out a book, plus cash funds are low at this moment as well but, I do have money left on the iTunes account to use, if it can be used. So, can it be used, the iTunes money, towards finding a low priced online book? I am in great need of assistance as I have a project due for my one course for this Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Sincerely in need of help once again,
    Kim

  • My computer has crushed so i have to download I tunes again, and maybe all my information will be lost.but i had I cloud and last time when i used to i tunes they have asked me to do I cloud so i did,so now when i will again setup my computer and I tunes

my computer has crushed so i have to download I tunes again, and maybe all my information will be lost.but i had I cloud and last time when i used to i tunes they have asked me to do I cloud so i did,so now when i will again setup my computer and I tunes will i get all my Contacts and Inofrmations cause i had i have an account on I cloud

If you used icloud for your contacts and calendar then you should have no problem. They will all come back on the phone once you put the icloud user name and password in. Itunes does not store the contact information except in a backup file and if you were backing up using icloud you can use that backup to restore with.

Yes, I got that. My question was "are you using the same iTunes account to access music purchased from the Store?" I think your answer is "yes".
    matthewfrommerseyside wrote:
But they are all on my ipod - can i not sync back to itunes?
iTunes is not designed to do that. However, this user tip from tt2 may help you recover your music from your iPod, although it's not a simple process: Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Ignore any references in the tip to iOS devices, the Classic does not use iOS. The tip has a list of software, including the TouchCopy referred to by tbirdvet that may assist you in recovering your music.

  • I just backed up my ipad2 to my PC and updated to iOS 5 and lost all my iBook downloads?

I just backed up my ipad2 to my PC and updated to iOS 5 and lost all my iBook downloads?

If your back up was successful, then just resync.  The books are there.  If they are not, simply go back to the bookstore and redownload them for free.

  • How can I sync bookmarks from my iPad BACK to ie6? My laptop had a rebuild and I lost all of my ie6 favourites, but they ar still on my iPad as bookmarks - just can figure out how to transfer back. I have ipad2 and ios5

My laptop running ms and outlook had to be re-loaded and as a result I lost all of my Internet explorer favourites. As I run iTunes on my laptop I do have all of th favourites synced through iTunes to my ipad2. How can I reverse synch my ipad2 so that the bookmarks are transferred back to my outlook pc

Follow the instructions here >  Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices
Make sure you select, "Bookmarks" in the iCloud window.
"Outlook 2007 or 2010 is required for accessing iCloud email, contacts, and calendars. Safari 5.1.1 or Internet Explorer 8 or later is required for accessing bookmarks."

  • Had to format hard drive, lost all my local files

So I had to move my OS to an external hard drive because my built in drive began to fail. When I did this, I lost all of my music in local files obviously. The thing is, it still shows up on my mobile playlists, but they don't show at all (not even greyed out text) on my desktop version. Why can't I see them at all? I wanted to go through and redownload them all, but this makes it very difficult. Help please! EDIT: Ok, so I figured out how to see them (I didn't have the "Show unavaliable tracks in playlists check). So now, my question is there anyway to pull them from my phone onto my computer? Or do I need to download them one by one?

Sadly I have to say no there is not a way. The sync of local music files is one way, meaning from laptop and/or PC to phone and/or approved mp3 players.

  • HT203167 Lost all of my downloaded apps, video, music and books

My iPad was frozen and I had to reset all settings to get it to reboot.  I lost all of my saved downloaded info.  How can I get it all back?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
You can re-download content purchased from the iBook store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen after you tap the store button in the top corner of the iBook app on your iOS device.
You can re-download content purchased from the app store using the purchased option which is revealed by tapping the updates option at the bottom of the screen of the App store app on your iOS device.

  • HT1320 I lost all my podcasts to day from my ipod classic but not my music.  After trying several times I still cannot load my podcasts back onto my ipod from my MAC. How do I do this?

Today I lost all my podcasts from my ipod classic.  My music remained on the ipod.  Why did this happen and how do I get them back onto my ipod from my MAC?

If all of these missing podcasts are still in iTunes, simply reconfigure them to sync to your iPod via the iPod's Podcast configuration pane in iTunes. To access this tab, plug your iPod in and click on it from under Devices in the left hand pane. Over to the right, in the main window pane of iTunes, look for the Podcasts tab along the top and select it.
Here you can configure how and what podcasts are synced to your device. If you do happen to make any changes from under this tab, be sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to sync the update changes to your iPod Classic.

  • 8830 World Edition suddenly lost all mail from before yesterday and call log cleared

I have one our resident higher ups who have lost all there mail on there device. They are receiving mail now but anything befroe yesterday is gone. Also there call log has been cleared.
I have already deleted and reactivated them on our BES and that was no help.

For the end-user, s/he needs to clear up some memory on the device....
First thing? Check the File Free at Options > Status, what is the number at File Free?
Now, remove the battery of your device, hold a minute, replace and reboot. What is the File Free now?

  • Lost all your previous downloads?

My HDD broke down and I lost all my purchases. They weren't under the "Purchased" tab, but there in the right bottom of the screen, there's a "Download Previous Purchases" button. This led to a list of all purchases. I couldn't find this in the Help section of iTunes on the Apple website. I first did have to authorize my computer again (since it was reinstalled with a new HDD), but I did get everything back.
However, iTunes now does think there are 2 computers authorized, while in reality I'm still using the same computer. I've still got 3 authorizations left and I do have an external HDD now, so I won't likely run into the same problem again. I really hope someone at Apple picks this up, as I'm sure it would help out many more and reduce the amount of incoming mails at the helpdesk.

It does cover the "Purchase" tab, but it doesn't specify the "Purchase Previous Purchases" button there. I didn't even notice the existence of that button until at least 10 minutes later. So in other words: that page simply isn't specific enough. I don't see why it doesn't go into just a tiny bit of more detail. Other companies usually provide a bit more in-depth help. I'm not sure who wrote this Help section, but it is lacking in helpfulness.
I wouldn't know if there is a PDF-file or website section that covers the lay-out of iTunes, but if there is, I suggest the Help page should redirect there after mentioning the "Purchase" tab. That would definitely help.

  • I went on to itunes to sync my ipadhd and wound up syncing it to the ipad1.  Help I lost all my pictures.  Are they anywhere that I can find them.  I am so upset.

I went on to itunes to sync my ipadhd and wound up syncing it to the ipad1.  I lost all my pictures on the HD.  Are they somewhere I can find them and restore them.  It is very upsetting.
    Thank you,

There are several ways. iCloud is partially live, at least in the US, so if you are in the US and have the latest version of iTunes on your home computer, start up iTunes, click on the Store button in the list on the left side of the screen, and on the right side of the iTunes store screen look for Purchased (there will be an orange New! tag next to it). You can (re)download any songs you've bought from your account on any authorized device you own. IOW, buy with your iPad, download later with your iMac if you don't feel like syncing with your iPad.
If you have a wireless network at home you can using filesharing to connect the two computers and copy the songs from the notebook to the desktop. My wife has a corporate DropBox account and she just copies her new songs into the DropBox and grabs them when she's at home. I have a history of forgetting that I've downloaded songs on my notebook or at work so I always immediately copy them to my flash drive. So there you go - lots of ways to do what you want.
