My Skype account is currently restricted.

Hi,
In March my account was hacked and a moderately large amount of EUR was charged to me.  Since I live in the US, only use $, and at the time already had a $2.99 unlimited calling subscirption, I disputed the charges thinking Skype surely could see that they were fraudulent.   For about two months after my dispute, my account was restricted.
In April the restrictions were removed and I enjoyed a month of being able to use Skype as a home phone again.  Unfortunately yesterday when I went to activate another month of calling, Skype had restricted my account again, with no explanation.
I requested that my account be unrestricted and asked why it was locked in the first place.  The response from second level support failed to explain why my account was locked.  They did tell me that my account could not be unrestricted because it was restricted, which also didn't tell me much...  Exact quote below:
"We understand that your account has been restricted. I apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused you. I will be more than glad to check that for you.
Please be informed your account was automatically restricted by our security system. We know how important it is for you to have the account release from restrictions, however we are sorry to inform you that the restriction of the account could no longer be lifted because there are restrictions that is in place with the account."
I have this account tied to my microsoft account, several devices (including my xbox one), and many of my contacts are stored/tied to this account.  I feel like I'm being punished because my account was hacked and would really like to have my account unrestricted so I can continue using the skype service.
Is there anyone from support who can assist me with this?

    Hello,
I am getting this message:  "You are currently restricted from purchasing services or redeeming vouchers. Please contact Customer Support to review your account status."
This came about after a password change.  My laptop is the one affected, desktop and smartphone are not.  Please help me.

Hi, Ponydrvr, and welcome to the Community,
To recover your account, please contact Skype Customer Service directly.  Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
Skype is aware of lingering problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents. If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and - most importantly! - choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.
    Regards,
    Elaine

  • Skype account restricted with NO reason

I was using my Skype this morning as usual when i suddenly it logged me out. When i tried to log back in, it said "Skype could not recognize your details". I spoke with an agent on live chat and he said it seems like there were restrictions imposed on my Skype account but no reason was given.
I tried to use the recovery system but it kept saying "could not recognize details...".
So what's up with that? Just locking my account with clearly no reason as the live chat rep stated.
    Can someone look into this?
Can provide all necessary information, please help me out - i need that Skype because I had many important contacts.
The Skype I am inquiring about is my secondary Skype.

I was wondering if u have ever gotten things worked out as I'm having the same problem. I've filled out the form multiple times and every time they tell me they cannot varify my account, fill the form out again. I talked to someone on live chat and they said the person should be able to do something and just reply back to their email. I did and know response. Is there a way to contact management?

  • Restricted Skype Account - Can't Get a Straight An...

    Hello all,
Hoping someone here can help. I've had my Skype account for several years now, recently I logged into the Skype website (not the application) only to discover my account has been restricted - I can no longer purchase skype credits NOR can I even unlink my linked Microsoft or Facebook accounts.
So I promptly check support regarding this and send a support ticket in, asking for details as to why my account has been suspended and what to do to remove the restriction. I get this answer which doesn't really tell me anything at all:
"Our automatic systems detected that activities which are contrary to Skype's Terms and Conditions have taken place via your Skype account. As a result, your account has been restricted and will remain restricted until further notice.
For details on Skype's Terms of Use, please click on this link."
Well, that doesn't help. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who has access to my Skype account and I'm pretty sure I never broke the Terms of Use. And now apart from starting a new ticket Skype isn't responding to me...
Has anyone else been in this situation where their automated system may have flagged your account incorrectly? How did you go about contesting it? I can't seem to get any straight answers from Skype apart from "Read the Terms of Use"
Any help would really be appreciated in this matter.

Well I was able to exchange a few more emails with them, and the basic jist is this:
    - Their automated system flagged my account for some activity or another - I still don't know what exactly in the terms of use I supposedly broke - the only answer I have been given is that I did something against the terms of use that set off their automated system to put my account into restriction. The only answer I'm given is always "Read the terms of use for more details" Why can't they just tell me what exactly was flagged?
    - They indicated that my account is "under investigation" but gave no timeframe for when this would be completed.
    - While my account is under investigation, I cannot unlink my Microsoft or Facebook accounts from Skype. This is concerning for me since both my MS and Facebook accounts are in good standing and I don't want a dud Skype account linked to them if it comes to it.
    - Their recommendation - create a new account, which really doesn't solve anything at all. And even if I did create a new account, not only will I have to undergo the hassle of importing all my old contacts, but I won't even be able to link my FB or Microsoft accounts either since they are stuck on the old account.
So I'm at a point where I don't know what to do. Skype support is basically saying I did something bad but won't tell me what. They say my account is being investigated but can't give me a timeframe for it to finish, and basically when I ask what can be done they shrug their shoulders and telling me to create a new account. I'm extremely frustrated at this point but I really don't know what I can do anymore.
Any thoughts or advice would be great in this regard.

  • Skype account restricted

I bought a skype unlimited call to India. I am using it for calling relatives, local call and my friends. Suddenly I got an email stating below:
    Fair usage policy violation blocking
We have noticed some prohibited usage of your Skype subscription.
As a result, your subscription will be terminated within the next 24 hours, moreover, you will no longer be able to use or purchase any of Skype’s paid-for products.
The suspension of your access to Skype paid-for products is permanent and you will be unable to transfer any existing paid-for products to a new Skype account, or receive a refund. However, you will be able to continue to make Skype-to-Skype calls and send instant messages.
    No explanation and nothing.
Is this fair to block my paid subscription without even a single warning? In the middle of my ongoing subscription?
    Please note these points :
    1)     This Skype id is maximum login on three devices – my two smartphones and a Pc.
    2)     Mostly long calls are on selected approx 5 numbers which are of relatives,my wife.
    3)     Mostly short call are to my big circle of friends and my wife also uses to call her relatives as this is our family account..cant we do it?
    4)     Total no of calls I don’t know is how much but its our account and me , my wife our kids all like to use what we bought. But surely there are not millions of calls we do from this…..
This is so sad and irritating being a such long customer of skype iam facing this. Earlier we used to use the calling option from PC so the calls may be less in number last year but these year we started using skype on smart phones via wifi so our numbers increased….but is this wrong? We are using our smartphones J
Iam real wondering what should I do as I have left around 25 euros in my account and iam the person who was till date so impressed with skype that I have recommended it to all my friends , relatives’…I was a big fan but then this happened…
Please skype customer service team I couldn’t find how to contact you so please consider all the points I said above and before kicking me out let me know my fault..
    Pleaseeeeeeeeeee….

  • Account has been Restricted

Hello, I have had this meassage at the top of my account for 3 days now:
"You are currently restricted from purchasing services or redeeming vouchers. Please contact Customer Support to review your account status."
I have submitted the online verification form twice and spoken with online chat support twice. I have my support ID's available if requested.
Here's the full story. I created a new Skype account on Tuesday as I'm required to have it for my new position at work. I signed up for a 12 month unlimited US calling plan and paid with my Master Card with no issues. I then purchased a 12 month Skype phone number but during checkout it declined my card. I was in a hurry as I had a trainer waiting on me so I just paid with my PayPal account for the number. Unbeknownst to me my credit card company had flagged the 2nd Skype transaction as possible fraud. This was on 6/3/2014. They then processed a charge back for the first transaction for the unlimited US calling plan. Again this was done without my knowledge and not at my request. Once I realized what happened the next day (6/4/14) I contacted my credit card company and resolved the issue on their end. They said the card is good to go and all I need to do is reprocess the transaction. Unfortionatly I can't do that because Skype won't let me. I have contacted Skype everyday and have yet to be able to get the issue resolved meanwhile I am unable to meet my obligations at work as I am unable to contact clients.
Please Help, I am a legitimate customer who just wants to pay you for your service so I can do my job.

Really no Mods going to even bother to comment. I'm getting so frustrated with this. What kind of company this size who has a paid service doesn't have a support phone number. I could understand if they didn't offer support to people who only had free accounts but come on this is kind of ridiculous. Live chat keeps telling me 24-48 hours I will get a response. Well last time I checked 4 days was a little more than 48 hours. I've been really nice about all this so far but apparently that doesn't work...

  • Skype Account Blocked

I have signed up with Skype on 25th this month and added some credit as well. After about one min. conversation with a friend my skype account was blocked.
I have contacted support team with all my details and at the end they told me that they cannot remove my restriction anymore and they asked me to review the terms and condition from http://www.skype.com/en/legal/fair-usage/ and I can say that I did nothing wrong. Also, I got a balance of $9.31 blocked intro my Skype account.
    What can I do?
    Thank you

I have the exact situation happening to my account right now.  I have submitted the verification form 5 times now and have received useless replies from five "customer service" reps who are probably in the Phillipines following a script.
I didn't use my Skype account for several months, so Microsoft assumed that when I logged in that "it was jeapordized".
They ask a ton of questions to verify if I am the account holder.  The problem is I opened the account probably 8-9 years ago and I am supposed to remember what credit card I used when I opened the account????????    I am supposed to know the month and day I opened the account?????
Does anyone have a resolution to this problem.  It is an incredible waste of time and extremely frustrating as this is the 5th time I have done this stupid process and keep getting the same useless boilerplate response.  They don't repsond to any of my questions.
I have seen this lack of customer service from Microsoft in software, hardware issues, which is why I don't support MS products anymore.  They don't care about the customer, they care about $.
