Myrio debugging shared library (so) with eclipse

Hi,
has anybody experience with debugging shared library files in eclipse?
I have created a shared library file in eclipse and downloaded it on the myrio device into following location: \usr\lib. I´m able to access the file in Labview.....this wors great. But I want to debug this file in Eclipse like explained in the following NI tutorial: http://www.ni.com/tutorial/14690/en/
But I'm not able to get it running. In the debug view of Eclipse I get 2 Errors. In the Disassembly window: "Cannot access memory at address 0x0" .
And the other is:  "No source available for "" "
Has anybody experience what I must do to get it running?
Thank you very much!
regards
Holger

Has nobody experience with this problem?
I will explain a little bit more......
I want to debug (with setting Breakpoints) a shared obefect file in Eclipse. For convenience I created a very simple C File:
This is the dedicated project tree with the succesfully created so-file:
I copied the created so-file to the MyRIO device with the remote system Explorer to the following location: \usr\local\lib
Next I have make a power-cycle from the myRIO device. After that I can sucessfully include the .so file in Labview. This works all great to this point:
But I want more.....I want debug the c-file in Eclipse and follow the NI tutorial: http://www.ni.com/tutorial/14690/en/
I have set up the debugger like explained in the tutorial:
But if I debug I get this window with several errors:
Hope someone can help me to get it running!
Many thanks!

  • How can I use a shared library made with the application builder?

    Hi,
    I am using LabVIEW 7.1 running on Slackware 10.1 (kernel 2.4.29) and I am trying to call a graph display from a C program that I use for debugging VME access from a VMIVME controler. So using the application builder I built the VI as a shared library (graph.vi -> graph.so) containing a function called "graph". In my main program the call to the dlopen fails with the error: "graph.so: undefined symbol: UninitLVClient". When I examin graph.so with nm I see that UninitLVClient and other LabVIEW functions are indeed undefined and using ldd shows that graph.so has dependencies only on libc.so.* and *linux*.so.* but not on LabVIEW related stuff. Those functions are defined in the liblv.so that's in the cintools directory but I have no idea if the user is supposed to use that.
    So I think I am missing an important concept here. Can somebody help or direct me to some documentation (I found lots of information about how to link external code to LabVIEW but nothing about how to link LabVIEW code to an external program)?

    Thanks Watermann,
    your message has been very useful so now I am linking to the proper library but I still have problems when trying to load dynamically the shared library produced with LabVIEW. It is strange that I could successfully load the lvrt library at loading time but it does not work when I am loading the library at execution time.
    I made a small LabVIEW program that prints a hello window and I am calling it from a C program. In the first program main.c I am linking to the lvrt library at loading time and it works but in the second one I am linking dynamically at execution time and it does not work. For my work I need to be able to load code done in LabVIEW at execution time. Any help is appreciated!
    Program main.c:
    // small program to call a LabVIEW shared library
    #include
    #include
    #include "hello.h" // got this from the LabVIEW builder, i.e. when I made the hello.so
    int main(void)
    printf("Hello from C!\nLets call LabVIEW now\n");
    hello();
    printf("Bye ... \n");
    return 0;
    The command to compile main.c, i.e. linking shared library lvrt when loading main program:
    gcc -Wall -I /usr/local/lv71/cintools/ -o main main.c hello.so -l lvrt
    The LD_LIBRARY_PATH has been defined and exported:
    $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$PWD
    $ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    IT WORKS!
    Program main2.c:
    // small program to call a LabVIEW shared library
    #include
    #include
    #include
    int main(void)
    void * h_lvrt;
    void * h_hello;
    void (* hello)(void);
    char * error;
    printf("Hello from C!\nLets call LabVIEW now\n");
    // open LabVIEW RunTime shared library
    // in my computer located at /usr/local/lib/liblvrt.so
    h_lvrt = dlopen("/usr/local/lib/liblvrt.so", RTLD_NOW);
    // check for error
    error = dlerror();
    if (error) {
    printf("error : could not open LabVIEW RunTime library\n");
    printf("%s\n", error);
    return 1;
    // open hello shared library
    // in my computer located at /home/darss/lv_call/hello.so
    h_hello = dlopen("hello.so", RTLD_NOW);
    // check for error
    error = dlerror();
    if (error) {
    // close LabVIEW RunTime shared library
    dlclose(h_lvrt);
    printf("error : could not open hello library\n");
    printf("%s\n", error);
    return 1;
    // get function hello from library hello.so
    hello = dlsym(h_hello, "hello");
    // check for error
    error = dlerror();
    if (error) {
    // close hello shared library
    dlclose(h_hello);
    // close LabVIEW RunTime shared library
    dlclose(h_lvrt);
    printf("error : could not get the hello function\n");
    printf("%s\n", error);
    return 1;
    // call hello function
    hello();
    // close hello shared library
    dlclose(h_hello);
    // close LabVIEW RunTime shared library
    dlclose(h_lvrt);
    printf("Bye ... \n");
    return 0;
    The command to compile main2.c, i.e. dynamically linking library lvrt at execution of main2 program:
    gcc -Wall -o main2 main2.c -l dl
    The LD_LIBRARY_PATH still defined and exported.
    IT DOES NOT WORK!
    Program output:
    Hello from C!
    Lets call LabVIEW now
    error : could not open hello library
    /home/darss/lv_call/hello.so: undefined symbol: WaitLVDLLReady

  • Debugging shared library

    Hi,
    I am trying to debug my shared libary using Workshop. My problem is that I can not set break point in my library codes. The message is 'cannot find object file corresponding with <source filename>' when I try to set a break point in the libary code. However, if the program crashes, I can load the core file which shows me the line that causes crash in my library codes. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    PS: althought I don't think the workshop version should affect anything, I am using workshop version 4 on Solaris 2.6

  • How to debug weblogic 8.1 with eclipse ?

    Hi,
    how can I debug my weblogic 8.1 application ?
    I`m using eclipse, but the plugin I´ve got, is only for versions 6.x and 7.0 .
    So I tried remote debugging but eclipse could not connect to the VM, I do not
    know why.
    Any ideas ??
    Thanks
    Holger

    It is quite easy to rewrite the plugin to work with 8.1
    We have done so - please contact me if you want the plugin.

  • OC4J debug with Eclipse

    I been trying to debug a oc4j application with eclipse but so far I can only see variables like
    ' this IndexAction,
    arg0 ActionMapping,
    arg1 null,
    arg2 EvermindHttpServletRequest,
    arg3 EvermindHttpServletResponse' ,
    I did setup Ant compile to create an *.ear in debug.
    classpath="${libclasspath};${build}/${classes}" debug="true"
         debuglevel="lines, vars, source"/>
    Also, I cannot place a watch file in any variable.
    Is there a configuration that I need to do with the java compile or OC4J to be able to see the content of the variables.
    Thank you
    P.S. with Jdev I'm able to debug with the embedeed-OC4J but the config of the \j2ee\home\config\*.xml files are totally different.

    Starting oas server with this command, -Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_shmem,server=y,suspend=n,address=4000,
    Eclipse debugger cannot connect anymore but apparently dt_shmem is used for windows machines and dt_socked for unix.
    Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

  • How Do I Fix This Runtime Shared Library Preloading Error?

    Hello,
    I just finished up my site, and this is the only thing holding me back from publishing it. Whenever I "Test" my site, I get this error: " Your content will not stream. Runtime Shared Library (RSL) preloading will require all of your content to download before the first frame will play.
    To prevent this you can change the Runtime Shared Library Library Settings, in the Advanced ActionScript 3.0 Settings dialog which can be raised from the Publish Settings dialog.
    The Runtime Shared Libraries being preloaded are:
    textlayout_1.0.0.595.swz for TLF Text"
    Does anyone know how to correct this error? If you do, could you please walk me through it step-by-step. I am still very new to "Flash Professional (CS5)" & "ActionScript (3.0)"

    Reference error is because the default linkage for textLayout.swc is Runtime Shared Library (RSL) with preload swf option so the reference will always be “RSLPreloader” if TLF is used.
    There are 2 options that we can avoid the reference error:
    1. Change default linkage to “Merged to code” which will add around 150KB to child swf file size.
    2. Change preloader method to “Custom preloader loop”, move all contents and scripts to frame 2. And finally, in the Advance ActionScript 3.0 Settings, export classes in frame to 2.

  • How to debug java web start with jdk1.5?

    i want to debug a JWS app with eclipse, not java console, so I follow Unofficial Java Web Start/JNLP FAQ(http://lopica.sourceforge.net/faq.html) and still not worked.
    the attached session worked at first and broke soon, and I found some idea from Unofficial Web Start FAQ Update/Errata(http://lopica.sourceforge.net/update.html). I did the following:
    set JAVAWS_TRACE_NATIVE=1
    javaws http://localhost/test/test.jnlp
    copy command line from popup window.
    add "transport=dt_socket,server=y,address=7000" to command line:
    C:\progra~1\Java\jdk1.5.0_03\bin\javaw.exe -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,address=7000 -Xbootclasspath/a:C:\progra~1\Java\jre1.5.0_04\lib\javaws.jar;C:\progra~1\Java\jre1.5.0_04\lib\deploy.jar -classpath C:\progra~1\Java\jre1.5.0_04\lib\deploy.jar -Djnlpx.home=C:\progra~1\Java\jre1.5.0_04\bin -Djnlpx.splashport=4362 -Djnlpx.jvm="C:\progra~1\Java\jdk1.5.0_03\bin\javaw.exe" -Djnlpx.remove=false -Djava.security.policy=file:C:\progra~1\Java\jre1.5.0_04\lib\security\javaws.policy -DtrustProxy=true -Xverify:remote -Djnlpx.heapsize=NULL,NULL com.sun.javaws.Main http://localhost:8080/test/test.jnlp
    the debugger still gets detached. I don't know what's wrong.

  • How to create a c++ shared library (.so) for linux real time (for myRio) with Eclipse to use in LabView?

    I tried already these Tutorials and Advices but I didn't find a solution:
    - http://www.ni.com/tutorial/14625/en/
    - http://www.ni.com/tutorial/14690/en/
    - http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Shared-Library-on-myrio-Linux-Real-time-system/m-p/2842540/
    - http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/How-to-create-shared-library-for-linux-real-time-target-in/m-p/28218...
    - and some more
    I want use c++ codes on linux real time. For testing reasons I want to have a function that adds 2 values and gives the result.
    I've done these steps:
    1. writing a c++ file in Eclipse (see screensot 2)
    2. building a shared library (.so) from my c++ project in Eclipse (with Cross GCC)
    3. putting this file on myRio (path: /usr/local/lib/)
    4. creating a VI that calls this library from Labview with a "Call Library Function Node" (see screenshot3)
    5. Setting the properties for the "Call Library Function Node" (see screenshots 4-7)
    After I run this VI i get this error message: LabVIEW:  (Hex 0x627) The function name for the ... node cannot be found in the library. To correct this error, right-click the Call Library Function Node and select Configure from the shortcut menu. Then choose the correct function name. (see screenshot1)
    I've tried a lot things to solve this problem but I couldn't find a solution. Would be very happy if anyone can help me. I guess that I have to edit my c++ code to export my function (symbol). But I have no idea how to make it. I also tried it with a dll file in the same folder but it didn't help.
    Perhaps someone can send an example which works on myRIO.
    Thanks!

    screenshot7

     can see it in the screenshot8 there is a function called "_Z8AddierenddPd" instead of "Addieren". I copied this name to Labview (see screenshot9) and it worked.
    I'm sure that there is a way to compile the shared folder with gcc without decorations (mangling). But I don't know how. If someone has a recommendation I would be very glad!
    Prepend each function declaration that you want to be available without name decoration with
    extern "C" <your function declaration>
    Or if you have multiple functions you want to export you can in the header file where you declare your functions simply use:
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    extern "C" {
    #endif
    <all your function declarations>
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    #endif

  • Problem with JNI in a Solaris shared library

    Hi,
    I have a problem.
    I have used JNI in my .dll on Windows & .so on Solaris . I have also used the same JNI code in a .exe on Windows & an executable on Solaris. 3 out of the above 4 combinations work & 1 doesen't. This is an update to the original message -
    I have tried both HotSpot & Server JVMs but still see the
    same behavior. I'm using 1.4 .
    I'd like to provide more information to those who can help
    me. I have a feeling there might be something wrong in my
    CC options. Thus you will find below what my CC statement
    looks like for one of the files in my project & for the
    linking of the final shared library. I also have
    provided the output of ldd on my shared library libaicd.so
    & for comparison the output of ldd on libjvm.so as that
    might provide some usefull information just incase
    something looks suspecious & might ring a bell.

  • URGENT: RSL Stopped Working - Need to compile with Runtime Shared Library

    I need this target to compile using the “Use Runtime Shared Library” option such that Flex libraries will be not included IN the swf, however I cannot get it to work.  No matter what, mxmlc includes them.  Oddly it DID work briefly for short time, however suddenly stopped again and unfortunately going through subversion revision history yields no insight whatsoever to what evoked this breakage.
    <target name="compile" depends="replace_build_version">
                <exec executable="${FLEX_HOME}/bin/mxmlc.exe" dir="${basedir}">

    I really hate to do this, but I very much need someone from Adobe to chime in here.  It is causing some serious headaches.  Ant nor the straight Flash Builder 4 will build with RSLs properly enabled now and this is really a very urgent situation for me.  It has doubled file size and made the application absolutely unbearable for users.
    Thanks!

  • Problem with JNI (custom shared library) on App Server

    We have a custom built shared library (.so) we want to use with the app server (a webapp). The .so is wrapped with java class and works to spec when tested outside of app server (webapp) environment with test stub. When wrapper class is introduced to App Server (webapp) & embedded function is invoked we recieve java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError(). We've looked to make sure $LD_LIBRARY_PATH is correct but still recieve this exception. Any suggestions? Running nm against the .so shows undefined symbols but these should be resolved by $LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Any suggestions?

    what version of appserver are u using...if 7.0 then try using their common class loader as per this docs:
    http://docs.sun.com/source/817-2171-10/dgdeploy.html#wp69906

  • Is it possible to Sync an iPod (or iPhone) with a Shared Library?

    I know this is a silly, basic question, but 6:30 AM is just too early for me to keep digging for the answer.
    So, I have several computers at home. ONE of them is used to purchase and store all of my iTunes music. This same computer is used to sync several iPods. The entire library on this computer is shared. Two other computers in the house are Authorized on the same account and regularly play music stored on the "first" computer.
    So here's the rub.
    My duaghter just got a new iPhone. She has her own MAC. I'd like her to begin using her own computer to sync her iPod and iPhone.
    Is it possible to sync her iPod and iPhone using HER computer (that is authorized on my account) and MY shared library?

    I don't think it is possible to sync an ipod to a shared library for copyright reasons. Sharing is great and simple for accessing and listening to other computer's music over a network, but to sync your ipod - I believe can only be done from that particular itune's music library. But here's how I work around this so that I don't have to have my 90 GB Music Folder copied on multiple computers:
    Copy these files from your main computer (the one that has and controls your master itunes library) into the same location on any other computer on your network (say your daughter's computer): user/music/itunes/iTunes Music Library.xml & iTunes Library. Before copying them over to daughter's computer, remove the old files (maybe keep somewhere else just in case) and have itunes shut down. Then start up itunes on your daughter's computer and it should look identical to the main computer's itunes (and the same as the shared library). What you've esentially done is created a separate itunes library data base that can be managed on your daughter's computer but one that accesses the same actual music files that are on the main computer's Music Folder. To check go to Preferences/Advanced and you'll see that the Music Folder location is pointing to the same file as on the main computer (whose Music Folder is now being used as a sort of network music despository). You'll notice that when your daughter's computer starts itunes and plays a song, the main computer's hard drive where the Music Folder is stored will mount on her computer. So the main computer obviously has to be turned on, or more accurately, the location of the Music Folder (could be on an external hard drive) must be accessible over the network. Your duaghter can now create her own spearate playlists and sync her ipod to her own library which is accessing the same song files (Music Folder) as the main computer. And both of you can be playing from itunes at the same time independantly.
    Here's the tricky part that takes some coordintation: Since you'll both be accessing and adding to the same huge Music Folder, you'll need to coordinate with eachother if you want to be able to have each computer's itunes database "see" any music that the other person has added or purchased. For purchasing or adding music to the music folder, both of you should have in Preferences/Advanced the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" selection checked when purchasing music or adding music via burning. If your daughter, for example, buys an album and has this preference selected, then it will go to the Music Folder and she will have access to it. But the other computer doesn't know that this was added to the music folder and it won't show up in that computer's itunes. For itunes to knwo a song is in it's Music Library it has to add it to it. SO, from this other computer, go to File/Add to Library and navigate to the location within the Music Folder and then select the newly purchased album and it will now show up in this itunes as well - BUT before you do this you should UNcheck the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" preference so that the album is not duplicated in the Music Folder. Then if this computer wants to purchase an album, you need to have this checked again. Basically if your doing the original adding you have to have the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" checked. If your simply letting your itunes know that something was added then have the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" unchecked before you add it to your library. And if someone creates a playlist that the other wants, you can still share eachother's libraries (even though your accessing the same Music Folder) or even export the playlist and import it into the other computer.
    Sounds tricky but it's actually pretty easy and allows each person to sort of control his/her itunes and sync their own ipods/iphones all from the same Music Folder.

  • HT2688 Working on a single computer with multiple users, I have set things up to allow each user to view and listen to the others' music libraries under the "Shared Library" function.  Can you then connect an iPod touch and copy music from a shared librar

    Working on a single computer with multiple users, I have set things up to allow each user to view and listen to the others' music libraries under the "Shared Library" function.  Can you then connect an iPod touch and copy music from a shared library?

    Was your wife logged into the libray at the time you tried to log in? I have had a similar problem and it was because another user was logged into the library when I attempted to. I got the permission denied banner.

  • The shared library is not compatible with this version of itunes

    I have a G3 running Jaguar (and iTunes 6) that hosts my MP3 collection. Until recently, this worked great as a shared library, happily showing up in iTunes on other machines on my network, including my Powerbook.
    Then I got iTunes 8 on my MacBook Pro.
    Now, when I try to access it from my MBP with Leopard, I get the message "the shared library Nick's Music is not compatible with this version of itunes".
    Can I somehow run an older version of iTunes as well as v 8.0 on Leopard?
    Is there another program that can access that library and run on Leopard?
    Any other solutions?

    I solved it myself...What I did was to backup the old library, run iTunes 6 to create a new library, move that new library, edit iTunes 6 preferences to use the library in it's new location, then restore the iTunes 8 library to it's original position.

    1) I've moved all of my PC-based music, my iTunes Library (.itl) file and the cover art to an external HD on my Vista PC.
    2) I've set permissions on all of the Vista files (music, library, art) to be read/write for available to all connected users.
    3) I have also mounted the PC-based external drive on my iMac. Permissions seem to be ok, as when I view files via the Finder, they are visable and accessible.
    4) However, when I try to open iTunes on iMac to change the shared library (using the OPTION key), the iTunes Library.itl file on the hard drive is completely greyed out. No matter how I change permissions or sharing on the Vista machine, I cannot seem to select the shared library.
    5) Interesting that I HAVE successfully accessed the same library through another Windows-based machine (Windows XP). In that instance I can access the network drive and select the iTunes Library.itl file no problem. Music streams fine after I do that. Also, from my iMac I am able to create files in the same directory where the iTunes files reside (using program like Text Editor) so it seems I do have write access and permissions to the directory.
    Any clue why this is happening? It seems like iTunes is the one program that is not picking up the permissions from the iMac, but other Mac programs are. It's driving me a little nuts at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thx
