Hello all,i'm new to this forum because i have a problem with my Nokia N93.I bought the phone in August from MediaMarkt Stuttgart and it worked perfectly until yesterday.I tried downloading a PDF from the internet,it downloaded it well but when i opened it,the phone said something like low memory and then gives App Closed Adobe PDF! Now everytime i try to open Adobe PDF it won't open.If you are fast you can see that it enters the program but then gives the error above (App Closed..). I tried restoring phone original settings but still won't work. Any ideeas on how to make it work?
    Thanks,

Great help from a nokia forum
The problem is that companies who are offering a company forum on the internet don't realize that THEY have to get involved too, not only by setting up a forum and leaving the users alone. Unfortunately a lot of companies are doing that, they probably hope that this is the cheapest solution to offer online support for their customers (customer helps customer...). Bad thing to do.
Well, getting back to your problem: I'm afraid you need to hard reset your phone and try again.
I have serious problems with the Adobe Reader in the N93 or any other Series 60 3rd Ed. phone too because it doesn't seem to "like" larger files. This seems however to be Adobe's problem, not Nokia's problem. On the other hand I wonder if Nokia ever tested the Adobe Reader in their phones because when I try to open a 3 MB .pdf file, I'm running out of memory.
Taking a look at the current Nokia products, I can't help to notice a pretty big difference in product/software quality from one phone model to the other. Maybe this has to do something with different development teams working on a phone or another but Nokia's reputation is taking a deep plunge downwards if they don't succeed to increase product and FW quality, even from the start of a new phone.

  • Nokia N93 TV-Out problem

I'm connecting my N93 to a wall projector using a S-video adapter because it doesn't have RCA connection. I've tried in PAL, NTSC and 4:3 and 16:9 relations but in everyone the image appears in grayscale.
    Any suggestion?

Unless I'm mistaken you CAN NOT just connect an RCA video cable (composite video) into S-Video cable. You need some kind of up-converter. The signal from the RCA video source is different that S-video.
You will need some kind of converter box to up-convert from composite video into S-video. S-video sepparates the color signals and the luminance signal so it can create better images.
The N93 only outputs composite video that has the color signals mixed onto the chroma subcarrier, you see black and white because of the backwards compatibility with old black and white TVs. Anyway withoug getting into more technical details, it not as straight forward as having a connector adapter to change from RCA to the 4 pin S-video cable.
So in a nutshell, you can't do what you are trying. You need a converter box.
640K Should be enough for everybody

  • Problem between PcSuite and Bluetooth Mouse

I'm having a very odd problem.
I have a Microsoft Notebook Bluetooth Mouse 5000 that works perfectly in my bluetooth enabled DELL Inspiron 1520 running Windows Vista Business, but after I install ANY version of PcSuite (even the NSeries one) to connect my N73ME using bluetooth, the mouse starts to LAG. If i uninstall Nokia PcSuite, the mouse lags stops.
I have tried it in a different computer, with a different OS, etc., but the problem is the same .... after i install PcSuite, the problems begin.
Lately, i have noticed it doesn't affect only my bluetooth mouse, but bluetooth in general, for example: while transfering file between 2 pc, if i have nokia pcsuite installed, there is a chance that the transfer fails.
There is something wrong with PcSuite's bluetooth driver.
Thank you for clicking on the Green button with the white Star for Kudos!!

I have exactly the same problem: my Logitech MX Revolution mouse lags badly whenever PC Suite is running. I am using PC Suite version 6.85.14.1 via both Bluetooth and USB cable to connect to my Nokia 6300.
I can confirm that if 'ServiceLayer.exe' is running in Task Manager (it starts several other executables as well) then the problem occurs.
If I kill ServiceLayer.exe the problem is solved, but do anything in Explorer and it restarts itself with associated programs and problem is back - even if it is set to 'Manual' in services.msc.
If I disable ServiceLayer.exe and manually stop the service in services.msc the problem is solved but PCSuite won't work of course, so this makes it impossible to run PCSuite normally - I have to disable and re-enable services.
I have written two cmd files to disable the service, and rename the ServiceLayer.exe to something else (for some reason it was starting up again even if disabled in services.msc: it's very tenacious), and vice-versa, but OMG what an ugly solution!!
This shell integration needs to be optional: the program should be able to start without all this grief!

  • S60 3rd Clock Problems

Just if some already noted, all S60 3rd mobiles (at least E61, N80 and N93) have some problems with Clock software:
times in HomeCity mode (main display) and World Clock tab differ... i.e. if you select multiple cities in World Clock list (right tab) all cities have correct difference in clocks, but as far as I set one of them as my current city, it appears to have 1 hour difference with the same city in right tab world clock list....
Nokia 7710 has perfect function to edit city and setup parameters like +XX GMT and Daylight saving tick.
I think it'll be better if such kinf function will be enabled (or just existing error corrected)in 3rd S60 mobiles as mostly they are business category and for such situation time difference means much more then just simple error...:-))

the phone now doesn't work. the back light and a white screen will appear and then it seems to turn off as nothing else happens. it can't be plugged into the pc, it won't be found on nokia pc suite........it's dead. tried taking battery out etc, nothing.
anyone out there any ideas, nokia, anyone?
    thanks, swampy :-)

If you were updating your N93 cell phone through the internet with Nokia Update Software and suddenly your cell phone shutdown on you and would not boot up or turn on, but the front small lcd screen just light up without information on it, please read on and follow the instructions below.
Make sure you have these things ready-
    1) PC or Laptop computer with at least 1 GHz with 512mb of memory.
    2) USB cable for the Nokia N93 cell phone.
    3) Fully charged battery for the cell phone.
    4) AC adapter for the cell phone and laptop computer if use
    5) Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Update Software( Download Updater Software if you don’t have it, then install it
    6) Last of course, your sick Nokia N93 cell phone.
1- Use a computer or a Laptop making sure it is plugged in to the AC outlets.
2- Download or insert the CD that came with the cell phone into the cd-rom drive “PC Nokia Suite” software then install (Only if you don’t have it installed yet).
3- Download the Nokia Updater Software from Nokia website. Then install it or reinstall it.
4- Open - Go to the “Device Manager” CLICK Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Hardware-then Device Manager. Leave it open for monitoring the USB connection. Hence- The Device Manager will flicker when detecting the USB connection.
5- Open or double click on the Nokia PC Suite icon program.
6- Open or double click on the Nokia Updater icon program.
Open all three programs and minimize it to fit all on the desktop screen. As shown below….
7- Now with your Sick N93 cell phone. Make sure that the SIM card is installed and the battery is fully charged! REMOVE-the memory card from the cell phone. And have the AC adapter ready and do not plug it in the cell phone yet just the battery installed. The back Cover of the cell phone must be off the back.
The N93 cell phone must be completely off with “NO FRONT SMALL LCD SCREEN LIT”. Please check to make sure it is off completely.
Now here are the procedures to revive your Nokia N93 cell phone. Please read carefully below.
Notice- This procedure will work with an N93 that still has the small front lcd background back light, still lighting up when the off /on button is pressed. This has not been done or tested with N93 that’s completely dead or with no signs of any power. But you can try it and just making sure that the battery is fully charged. But otherwise, this procedure worked with my N93 cell phone problem, avoiding Nokia Service Center.
1- If all instructions were followed above. Do the following- Install the USB cable on the cell phone and behind the computer or laptop? Do not turn it on yet!
2- Click the Nokia Update program the “Unable to find phone” TRY AGAIN tab and press the power on button on the phone. Watch the “Device Manager” flicker or sense the USB. Look at the Nokia Updater program to see if the phone has been detected. If detected, the cell phone information will be detected and show up on the screen within the updater program. If this happen, leave it alone and let it roll till it’s finished updating.
3- If nothing happens….do the following.
4- Remove the battery, AC adapter plug off the phone and the USB that is connected to the phone.
5- Now plug the USB connector to the phone first, then plug the AC adapter plug that goes on the phone and insert the battery.
6- Click on the “Unable to find the phone” TRY AGAIN tab. Then wait for the computer to detect the phone.
NOTE: This you may have to do it a few times. Keep trying and repeat the processes 4, 5 and 6 above this note. GOOD LUCK!

  • N70 USB driver no longer auto-loaded by Windows

Hi! I've been using PCSuite without problem, until the latest version 6.8. I gave me the infamous init MediaControl problem which took me 3 hours to fix in the end. However, although now the problem is gone, windows no longer automatically loads the driver for N70's usb connection.
In previous cases, the moment I plug in my phone N70 the first time after installing new PCS, Windows will popup "N70 found" and automatically install various drivers. But now after the N70 found message, the Driver Wizard appears, asking for the location of the driver (just like normal case of other hardware installation). Although I managed to manually point each portions to the respective .inf files under Windows\System32\DRVStore\XXX, it just doesn't behave like before. I tried to plug in my old 6230 and the same things happen, ie. need to manually point each portion to inf files under Windows\System32\DRVStore\XXX
Here's what I've tried for PCS
    - Reinstall
    - Uninstall from control panel, reinstall
    - Repair

  • CK-7W Bluetooth with Pop Port being used

I have the CK-7W (without the cradle) and an N93.
Everything works great with it except when I have a FM Transmitter connected to the Pop Port so I can play MP3's from the N93.
My problem in this scenario is as follows - A call comes in and the sound is routed to the radio via the transmitter. I have to disconnect the transmitter from the Pop Port. The phone then returns to the General Profile, not the Car Kit profile. So, I then have to try to activate the Car Kit Profile (either from the phone itself or by a single push of the 7W button). Then I have to press the button again to answer the call.
By the time I have done all this the call is usually long gone.
Anyone else have this problem? Any way to set it up so that it reverts to the Car Kit profile automatically when a call comes in (ideally!!) or at least when you disconnect the transmitter?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Is that the old holder from an old carkit? I've always thought that the CK-7W was built to be wireless and that the phone doesn't have to be physically connected.

  • PC Suite won't connect to internet via N95

    Hello.
I am using laptop with vista and I have installed newest version of PC Suite. Previously I was connecting via Nokia 6300 and N70, both with no problems, than I tried yesterday with N95 and I get an error in OneTouchAccess: "Failed to connect to the network! The modem may be used by another application or the modem may not be configured properly." I have ran out of ideas, I'v tried reinstalled pcsuite, the problem is the same. Settings are OK. Does anybody know how to completely delete PC Suite? Because when I reinstall it, it always connect immedieately when is installed.
Can PLEASE someone help, it is driving me crazy

Nokia PC Suite Cleaner will remove any data that is left on your computer after having uninstalled the Nokia PC Suite.
This freeware program will help you with any possible problems that may come with uninstalling the Nokia PC Suite. You can choose your type of problem from a drop-down menu during the installation and then the Cleaner will take care of it.

  • N93 Display Problem

    Hi guys:
I'm posting this message in hopes that someone out there will be able to give me a hand with my N93.
I'll start the story RIGHT from the begining and in future will send people back to this location to read it as I'm fed up repeating it to different people.
Approx 1 month ago, my sister received some fans on eBay she had bought, but was away, so I thought I would take a pic and MMS it to her. I turned the phone into photo mode and took the a couple of pics, then chose the send picture icon from the camera screen. It went into the MMS editor, so I then turned the phone back to portrait mode to start to type in some text. Here's where the problem started. The phone I thought had got 'stuck' in landscape mode. So I thought I'd do a restart. The outside screen turned on, displayed Nokia, then the internal screen turned on, the Nokia hands with the familiar ding ding ding ding ding. Finally - to the active standby screen. Cool I thought, just a glitch. I work in IT, I know these things sometimes happen. A couple of seconds later, the screen rotates landscape again but opens up the camera. I think it must somehow have remembered I had the camera open before, so ignore this and exit the camera application...The screen stays landscape. OK - so I want to send the picture to my sister, I'll struggle texting with the display in landscape. I go to the Images folder on my memory card, and then send via mms. Again the MMS editor opens and I start to try to type in some text. The keypad doesn't work again. Whats going on??! Perhaps one of the apps I had installed had messed it up (at the time only the Gmail, Google Maps and Opera 4 Beta), I'd to a full reset - so I tried, but I couldn't enter the pin code as the keypad didn't work. I'd updated the firmware a few months previous to all of my problems and, I had backed everything up so I thought I would try again. I connected up the N93 to my PC, downloaded the phone software updater and started the process. It wasn't as scary as it was the first time I did it as its a relatively pain free (or what I thought painfree) process. It recognized the phone, downloaded the update then started to install. Nothing to do now but sit back and wait for it to finish. About 5 mins later panic set in...The firmware updater told me an error had occured. It suggested removing the battery and power cable on the phone, then put the battery back in and the power cable back in and reconnect the USB cable. So I did it. Once again the firmware updater recognized the phone, and proceeded to install the firmware again. 5 mins later, the same thing happened. I tried what it suggested again, but same problem. Damn! I disconnected it, left it a while and tried again, but didn't have much faith. Yes, it did it once more. So now when turning the phone on, it did nothing. The external screen lit up, but no Nokia logo. So I was thinking perhaps the phones ROM couldn't find a boot image as it hadn't been written properly. I browsed the Nokia website for a local repair center and took it there. I explained what had happened, and they said that it was covered by a 25 month warranty. I got it in September 2006, and was covered until November 08. Great I thought, they took down my details and then asked me to phone the following Monday to see the status of the repair. I called up to find out if my phone was ready, it was. Hurrah I thought, they'd somehow forced the firmware to load. I asked when I could collect it and they said at lunch time. So I asked if it was fixed, 'No sir, the engineer has stated that there is liquid damage and is therefore not covered by the warranty'. ??! So we've gone from a software problem to a hardware problem now. I go back to the store during my lunch break and collect my phone. I ask to speak to the engineer who looked at the phone. I asked him to show me the liquid damage. He removed the housing from behind the main display and pointed to something. OK - so I'm no phone technician but I couldn't see anything. He states that it probably got wet some time ago, but water is like acid and doesn't break the phone immediately, but over time. He's bullsh*tting me now...I try to keep calm as the closest my phone has ever come to water was when I left it in my bag on the shore when diving one day. It has been my pride and joy for so long I have kept it in very good condition and away from anything that could have damaged it. Besides - this was a software issue initially...why on earth did he have to open the phone up in the first place? Surely he could see that yes, the phone turned on, but couldn't see any firmware to load and just sat there? Oh they do it to cover themselves. Ok I thought, perhaps they do check as not everyone is so honest when they send in their phones. So anyway - I get the phone back and its useless to me again.
A co-worker who went with me to pick up my phone can't believe what he is hearing either. He then offers to take my phone to another repair guy he once used who was very good. He looks at it, and tries to reinstall the firmware but no luck. He sends it 30 miles away for one of his co-workers to look at, he tries to reinstall the firmware, nothing.
Finally - thinking my phone is a brick, I look on the Nokia website once more for some help. There is a freepost repair service that I can send my phone to for Nokia to fix. Brilliant - Nokia will know what to do! They'll see its a firmware issue, they'll reinstall the firmware. I phone them up to ask if my reinstalling the firmware and it failing would constitute voiding the warranty. The guy on the end of the phone states that no, sometimes it happens, but its 'most likely to be down to virus' on the PC and they get into the phone and cause problems'...As I stated earlier, I work in IT and have done for the last 9 years since I left school. I'm not saying I know everything about everything, but I know that PC Virus' can be transported from PC to PC via a phone if there was say an infected file on it, but a PC virus onto a phone? Come on! Its a different operating system and its a completely different architecture!!! I'm doubting any virus code designed for x86 PC's would run on an ARM chip. So I decide to sent it off anyway.
So - the reason I'm posting this, is because yes Nokia did kindly reinstall the firmware. Hurrah I thought. But after a few seconds, the screen flips to landscape. It seems the original problem is back again. AND they have printed out a photo with an arror pointing at some resistor or something and a lable stating liquid damage. Now either the Authorized Repair Center updated some database I don't know about stating that my phone had a problem and how to find it, or they did look at the phone and find the this 'liquid' damage.
I just can't see how they say its liquid damage. I've been so careful with it. I can't see how its been working flawlessly since I received it last September to all of a sudden refuse to rotate the screen to portrait and for the keypad to stop working.
OK. so the question I'm asking is...Is there anyone out there that can look at this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8twaFYswu0
And give me any advice what to do except put it on eBay for spares. It looks like the S60 OS is booting up now, but there is some app that is launching at startup to activate the camera, then not gracefully quitting the app once you choose Exit. I can't seem to find any way to browse the filing system on my phone except the File Manager which doesn't show hidden files. I also can't install anything on the phone at the moment as whenever I try to transfer any software over via bluetooth it ask for a passcode and....you've guessed it....the keypad doesn't work, so I can't do it that way. I've tried doing it via USB but I get permission not authorized when I copy over any .sis or .sisx files.
    Thank you for reading!
    Rich

I've got a similar problem with my N93. It occurred on Sat 29th September.
I was using the phone in camera mode and then flipped it round to close. Since then it will only display in landscape and the camera modes no longer function.
If you reboot, then for a brief few seconds it starts up in Portrait mode and then rotates to the landscape mode.
The phone is pretty much useless to me in this state.
    Any ideas?

  • Multiple Problems with N93! Please Help!

I've had the N93 for about 2 weeks and have come across many problems. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    1. Cannot remove themes - I used to own a 7610 and to delete themes from that phone you just went into themes/options and deleted it. The N93 does not have that option in Themes - it only has Preview, Apply, Edit, Help & Exit. I tried deleting/removing themes from Application Manager but it does not list all my themes - at the moment I have 17 themes but only 10 of them are showing up in App. Manager. I have tried removing some of the ones that are there to see if the others will show up but they don't. I have searched the entire phone for the theme files and cannot find them anywhere, so I have no way of removing them.
    2. I cannot install any games or applications with .sis extension (I can however install .jar games and themes). I get the following error: "Installation of file.sis not supported". I have tried via cable/pc suite and have also tried copy/pasting the installer to the phone and installing from there and it doesn’t work - I have also tried installing these games/apps on a 7610 and they work fine. My apps. manager settings on N93 are to set to install all and check online cert. is off.
    3. Sometimes when installing new themes my previous themes completely disappear. Shortly after the first time I noticed this happen I tried to reinstall the previous themes, it would accept the files, ask where to save, installation progress would go all the way to the end then an error msg came up saying Unable to Install (or something like that). I tried installing on both memory and phone and also tried copy/pasting the file to phone and installing from there but nothing worked. I then formatted the memory card but still could not install anything. And so I ended up formatting the phone using *#7370# (as found on the discussion boards) and then I could install themes again. BUT I still cannot remove themes from themes/options.. and as before not all themes appear in apps. manager so I cannot remove them from there either, and I still cannot install any games or apps with .sis extension.
Are these general problem/glitches with the N93 or is mine just a faulty one? Also does anyone know if the option of delete is indeed supposed to be in Themes/Options/Delete? Anyone with an Nseries phone please check and see if yours does or if you’re supposed to delete from apps. Manager? And if so do all your themes appear in apps. Manager? And also I’m sure the N93 is supposed to be able to install .sis games and apps right??
Please please please any and all help appreciated!!

    Thanks for reply rufao,
No the themes I'm trying to remove are the ones I installed. Once in themes I scroll to the one I want to remove but when i press options Delete is not there, for any of the themes. I don't mind the themes that come with the phone and have no intention of uninstalling them, but I want to be able to uninstall the ones I've downloaded and installed myself. But I'm sure the delete option is supposed to be there, unless you are supposed to uninstall all themes from apps. manager but then there is still a problem/glitch as it does not list them all.
The themes that disappear are random (some are for N93, some for N92), when it first happened i formatted phone and memory card then installed themes again, this time different ones disappeared that didn't before.
As far as the sis files perhaps not all but at least some of the games/apps I have tried to install were for latest version of s60. I can't remember which right now as I tried so many (to be sure there was a problem).
Does anyone know of any .sis apps for N93 (latest s60 version) that definitely do work? So I can try them and see whether or not there is a problem?Message Edited by mjm2685 on 24-Aug-2006

  • Problem with pcsuite

I have a problem with my pcsuite version 6.80.22
I am using windows XP Professional version 2002 service pack 2.
My problem is when I make a backup for my contacts. It doubles everything. I mean all the contacts are doubled.
I tried a lot of restore but I think the problem is with the back up and not restore.
I don't know how to fix it.
Can anyone tell me what should I do?
I have more than 800 contacts and sometimes I have 3 or 4 numbers for the same contact. So it doesn't also syncronize everything with the Outlook. It only takes 2 numbers.
    Thanks & regards
    Khalil Zantout

I would say that most likely everything is syncronised to Outlook, but you need to view Outlook in such a way that every field is visible.
If you do multiple restores and also syncronise with Outlook, you may end up with duplicates because restore operation is unware of the sync operation. Why do you do multiple restores ? I do take regular backups, but that is just in case I loose my phone. The restoring would then happen to a new phone.
For everyday syncronisation betwee phone and PC I use PC Sync and Image Store, then the data is in usable format in my PC (as bakcup file is not since it is meant only for restoring)

  • Pcsuite problem connecting to the phone using blue...

    Hi,
I'm having this intermittent problem, with my pcsuite not connecting to the phone.
Most of the time it connects without any problem, but every now and then, I see the PC Suite tray icon with an X (phone unavailable).
In those cases, when I open PC Suite, it only allows me the "Click here to connect a phone", with the drop list empty.
When I scan for phones, it does find mine (ready to use), and continues to the "Connection setup complete" box, with an empty list of connections available...
Note, in some of these cases (e.g.. now - while writing this message), I am connected (bluetooth) through the phone to the internet, so it's not that the phone is unreachable bluetooth-wise...
    Details:
    Windows XP SP3
    PC Suite v7.1.40.6
    Connection method: bluetooth
    Phone model: E72
    Thanks,
    Ilan

Log out and in or reboot the PC. First start PC Suite and then connect the E72.

  • MP4 (from Nokia N93) Sound Problem, on Preview Only! Help!

Hi there, has anyone had experience with this problem?
I have about 1 hours worth of video to edit in iMovie HD 6 using a MacBook Pro, the video is from the Nokia N93, it is 640x480 at 30fps, MP4 format with an AAC 48khz stereo audio track.
After importing my clips into iMovie, playback (i.e. preview) produces broken audio. I know that there is nothing wrong with the actual audio as exporting the movie produces correct audio.
    Any ideas?

    Hi CL:
    Welcome to discussions!
This might work-or at least it won't hurt anything..
Open the Audio MIDI Setup application (Utilities folder).
Try changing the settings to 44100Hz (CD Quality) or to 48000Hz (typical of the iMovie formats).
Switch it back and forth even if it is already set properly. Then try again.
