N96 Buggy and slow as hell

I am having poblems with my N96. Its soooooooo slow. Its so hard to play music. When i press the centre navi wheel key to play a track the highlighted line moves up or down randomly to another song but wont play the song i have asked for. It keeps freezing. Its slow through the menu's. I have reset it twice. Its sim free. But about 6 months old. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking about reinstalling the FW but then i will have to redo all my 100's and 100's of music tracks again.
Its not who i am underneath. But what i do that defines me.

I have done that already as i said before. I think a trip to the service centre is in order. Always problems.synth_fg wrote:

Yes it will take time to reinstall, but it should solve your problems

I just upgraded my 2008 macbook pro to OS X Maverick from Snow Leopard but my computer is running a bit buggy and slow. How do I downgrade back down to snow leopard?

You would reinstall 10.6 using your installation DVD.
Out of curiosity, how much RAM do you have? Recent versions of OS X really shine with 4GB or more.

  • IOS 6 Buggy and Slow hot to downgrade.

i recently updated to IOS6 the yesterday and it it running really slow on my iphone 4s also the phone is hot when running apps. maps is not working properly and text messages are failing and talking a long time to send/recive.icalled apple to be told they do not support downgrading and to take my phone in the store and see what they can do.i went into the store they said the hardware is fine it seems like its just ios6 causing the problem they told me warranty does not cover software issues and said they cant do anyhting about it they said to wait for ios6 to be updated or to downgrade using a 3rd party software but they then said if i downgrade i lose my warranty.so im stuck with a phone that is not working properly and apple refuses to do anything about it what should i do?

Well we can't tell you how to downgrade or attempt to downgrade as it's not supported by Apple.
My sugguestion, if they havn't already suggested it, is to back up the device and set up as a new device to see if that clears out any software issues that may have been caused when updating.

  • Macbook Pro AMD 6750m buggy and slow.

The specs of 6750m look descent, but the performance is terrible, buggy with applications and buggy with multiple monitors. Netflix crawls like a slide show. Is this a driver, firmware or hardware problem? Even worse under OS X then Windows.
Is there a fix for either OS X or Windows?
Is AMD or Apple even working on this?
The AMD 6770m is basically the same GPU, so I am assuming support is still active for this hardware.
Really disappointed at a laptop that costs $3000.

    Also review this article:
    http://thexlab.com/faqs/maintscripts.html
about the OSX maintenance scripts. They will run automatically, but only if the computer is on and not sleeping in the wee hours of the morning local time. Most people don't leave the computer awake all night so the scripts may never run.
I found that running them manually (as detailed in the article) helps make the system feel faster. You build up a lot of extra files over time and the scripts help "clean house."
Check you free space on the hard drive. If it's too full, OSX's virtual memory will force more drive access to write its swap files. I like to keep at least 10-15 percent free--more is better.

  • IPhoto 09 - Buggy and Slow

1 - All Faces interactions are unusably slow. Confirming, Add Missing Faces, selecting to move or name face frames.
2 - Found the same person twice in the same picture.
4 - Keeps missing the same person in a set of portrait photos (same outfit, lighting. Faces forward)
5 - No way (I could figure) to undo a face that the system was sure of that is wrong. Have to delete the face frame.
6 - In Faces the confirmed thumbnails are the completely wrong pictures though when you select them the full view is correct.
7 - Thumbnails in many Events are distorted/squashed.
8 - In Info window (off i icon) for Events selecting a Place doesn't stick. Start typing, menu comes up. Click on selection. Field still empty.
    9 - Some images can't be rotated.
10 - Places is confusing and difficult to add new places.

As I’m sure you recall from your careful reading of the Terms of Service you agreed to when you joined the Apple Discussions, this is a User to User forum. Apple aren’t here. They don’t promise to read anything here.
So iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback is the route to go with this.
However, items 6 and 7, 8 and 9 sound like issues with your Library rather than iPhoto. I have no difficulty adding locations to Events or rotating pics.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

  • New Power Manager is Buggy and Slow (how to get rid of ATMdump.txt file)

The latest Power Manager v2.30 has a few problems.  The program now takes twice as long to load during startup.  This considerably slows the entire startup process.  Also, the program creates a file named "ATMdump.txt" in the documents folder.  Unfortunately, the file cannot be easily deleted.  Even if the file is deleted through safe mode, the file regenerates itself during startup.  You would think the program should use a hidden temp folder as a dump location.  Oh well.

I hate how apple leaves iPod touch 4g and iPhone 4 in the dark and basically force us to upgrade to newer devices. Apple could of done better with the update and needs to resolve these issues.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • Windows Server 2012 HyperV VMs becoming extremely sluggish and slow

I have recently set up a new system for a client consisting of a single Dell T320 server with Xeon E5-2350 2.2GHz 6 core cPU and 32GB of RAM.  Windows Server 2012 Standard is installed on the bare metal, and runs only the HyperV role.  It is not
    joined to any domains.
It hosts two VMs, one a Windows Server 2012 Standard VM containing the RDS related roles acting as remote desktop server, with 10GB RAM allocated and 3 cores.  Only 5 people use the terminal server concurrently.
The second VM is a Windows Server 2008 R2 based primary domain controller, with 16GB of RAM allocated and 3 cores.  It runs the AD role, as well as Exchange and GFI MailEssentials 2012.  Avira is also installed on this VM.
The problem is that the system will function properly for 3-4 days, then suddenly it goes into a state where a multitude of applications would start consuming inordinate amount of CPU time, and become very, very slow.  Almost like the hypervisor goes
into a software emulation mode where everything runs like molasses.  This affects BOTH VMs equally.  For example, Exchange and GFI on the Windows 2008 R2 VM together consume about 25% CPU, most of it is spent in kernel CPU time.  At the same
time, in the other Windows Server 2012 VM, svchost, Taskmgr, WMIPrvSE, LogonUI, Explorer,  sqlservr, wsmprovhost etc. will all consume a total of about 70% CPU time, this time 99% of this is user time, not kernel time.  When one user starts any application,
be that internet explorer, firefox or TaxPrep, the CPU spikes up to 100%.
All while nobody is using the system, the system is idle and no mails are flowing in or out of the system.  A reboot of the VMs does not fix anything, even a reboot of the host server does not fix anything.  When I yanked out the two power supplies
and performed a hardware diagnostic (which came back 100% OK), it booted up and the slowness was gone for 3 days, until today when it started acting up again like I described above.
One more thing, when the system behaves normally the sunspider javascript benchmark in IE10 takes 316ms to execute (average) on the HyperV host operating system.  When the system goes slow like this, I pause the two VMs in HyperV then run sunspider
again, only to be greeted by an average time of 5084ms.  So this clearly does not only affect the virtual machines but the host operating system as well. My gut still tells me the hypervisor is getting messed up somehow.
Any ideas?  This is a major problem and I have no idea what is causing it.

We have had the EXACT same thing happen with a Dell T320 on two separate servers. The first one was running SQL Server 2008 with nothing else funny going on. It ran fine for a month or so, then it developed this slowness issue. We finally installed SQL on
a loaner box (without Hyper-V) and it worked fine. We brought the T320 back to our shop and tested the hell out of it with Dell's assistance and it was NTF. Took it back onsite and moved an SBS 2011 VM over to it. After a few days, it ground to a halt. CPU
utilization was 100%. I started shedding services, killing Exchange, Sharepoint, etc. Even stripped to the essentials, the CPU was still up in the 60-70% range.
I put a T310 out onsite and downed the guest SBS vm. I copied the HUGE vhd over to the T310 (running Server 2008r2 with the Hyper-V role) and it ran perfectly. CPU at about 2-4%, spiking to 15% occasionally.
We finally concocted a story that the USB controller was bad, so they replaced the motherboard (not the CPUs) and it all seems to be working OK now after we sunk at least 100 man-hours into the problem.
Our second one is a similar setup. T320, Server 2012, Hyper-V role, SBS 2011 Standard and a couple of member servers running basic apps. No one can find any problem and everyone acts like this is something new, although my posting comes one year after Tim's
    original posting.

  • TS3048 are there any known issues with the magic mouse? i believe mine is buggy and  has been crashing Logic

mac pro quad core 2.8Ghz Lion 10.7.4 12 GB ram
magic mouse behaves very erratically; seems buggy and tracks slow. will crash Logic when rubber-banding or moving events in piano roll edit windeo. very frustrating. have not been able to duplicate this crash using my old wired mouse (from my G4)
someone at a Mac store suggested i may have a"bad" mouse... what gives? any help would be appreciated. i will be happy to replace the mouse if that is the issue...robert

    Hello,
In answer to your question, I have not heard of any "known problems."
The device may, indeed, be faulty.  Try resetting the PRAM and SMC before you buy a new one.

  • Yoga 13 Firefox slow as hell.

Is it just me or is Firefox slow as hell on this thing? I'm talking about page rendering and scrolling speed. Heck, even as I'm typing this, I'm experiencing lag with the characters appearing on the screen. Chrome behaves better but still lags behind much older and slower machines I use on a daily basis. IE Metro seems to be perfectly fine, but I rarely use it. Even Safari in a OSX Mavericks VM running on this same system even seems to be faster.

My desktop firefox seems responsive the rare times I use it. I mostly use desktop IE, and have to say there are new bouts of occasional freezes... I can't even change tabs for about a minute. There seems some responsiveness lag, so when I scroll with a finger swipe, it gets treated sometimes as a double tap magnify as if it is doing slow sampling.
Maybe firefox would do the same if I used it as much. I checked my lenovo pointer driver for a newer version, but the old one is called current. I wonder if some windows update caused this delay mode. I wish I knew how to turn off the double tap magnify gesture anyway...

  • WRT54G V8 Slow as hell wireless connection

Im about to go on a killing spree because I cannot figure this out. I have a desktop connected to the router. The router to the modem. I can get on the internet fine with nice speeds on the desktop. When I connect wirelessly with my laptop it is slow as hell. Wont load anything than after 2 minutes it will load it all at once. I have no idea what the heck is going on. I've changed settings and changed them back in the router config. What could possible be causing this??????

I have exactly the same problem with my WRT54g V8 router. My Dell laptop takes forever to load web pages. My desktop "flies" when connected via ethernet but slows like the laptop when I connect wirelessly using a USB wireless adapter WUSB54G.
When I connect to my neighbors Netgear wireless, everything is very fast. When I use my old Microsoft wireless router, things are very fast. When I go back to the Linksys, SLOW SLOW SLOW!!!!!!!
I have updated the firmware to no avail. Changed channels and turned off all wireless security.....no change!!!
I am running Windows XP SP2 and using Comcast cable broadband.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • IMac getting slower and slower....

I've had my iMac for just under a year and recently it has seemed to be getting slower and slower and more buggy. Today GoLive CS2 refused to launch. No error code, just bounced in the dock and then stopped. My Finder keeps "not responding" when I am opening a folder on my harddrive. I've had problems with external firewire drives, it's just getting frustrating, and it's been getting worse over the last week or so... Also I've been having font problems too... I haven't installed a massive amount of fonts, but all of a sudden it's telling me it can't find "Arial TT" when I open InDesign I've repaired permissions, zapped PRAM, and I'm performing the hardware test as I type this (on my PowerBook). I've used Macs for many many years and consider myself a pretty advanced user so I'm not thinking this is user error. Has anyone else had similar problems?? I don't use a bunch of third party junk software on here, it's basically apple apps, and the Adobe CS2 Suite. I maxed the RAM with Crucial RAM when I first got it, so all that should still be good. Help? Suggestions? I know I could always wipe it and start again, but unfortunately at this moment I don't have enough external HD to back everything up to do this...
    iMac G5 2Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi rorydale,
Speaking of "not enough external HD to back everything up":
You know that Mac OS X needs a lot of free space on the boot drive, like at least 10%-15% free space?
Along with RAM, that's the only thing Mac OS X cannot do well without.
    Then,
before starting a good read of this article and its excellent links:
I would make sure some regular maintenance is performed, just to take a safe start.
    1) Nightly "periodic" maintenance tasks:
Open Terminal and paste this command:
    sudo sh /etc/daily
hit enter, password, enter, wait until you see the prompt again.
    OK now this one:
    sudo sh /etc/weekly
(this one takes a long time, especially if you never ran it. You can use your computer while it is running, but do not quit Terminal)
    Then, this one:
    sudo sh /etc/monthly
Again, wait for the prompt to reappear.
    2) Run Preferential Treatment, delete the corrupted .plist files if it finds some.
    3) Run a Disk Repair with Disk Utility from the Tiger install DVD (menu Utilities).
    4) Permissions Repair of course (from the boot volume, not the install disc)
    5) Fonts can get problematic. I would trash Fonts caches too. Read about Fonts also in the Troubleshooting KB articles...
    6) Users caches can be cleaned just to make sure. You'll see later if you still need to tinker the system and kernel caches.
That's for a start, let us know how it goes...

  • Problem with unstable and slow SWFs

    Good evening,
Some of my users are reporting problems with the SWF output of my intensive Captive file which includes significant software simulation. I knew that these files were going to be resource intensive due to the nature of the project, but I felt comfortable with system requirements of at least 2 gb RAM and a mid-range processor.
Unfortunately, some of my users who meet this criteria are reporting problems including text animations not playing in full and slow slide transitions. I cannot replicate this problem on any of my machines.
I have been playing around trying to compress images as much as possible and otherwise reduce file size. What else can be done? What are the top five things I can do to remedy this problem?
My presentation is about 50 slides and the SWF output is about 4.5 mb.
    Thanks

I've seen this type of thing many times, especially in corporate environments.
    My top suggestions:
If you've taken all reasonable steps to make your project as web-friendly as possible by this time, don't make any more changes to your project until you've exhausted the possibilities below.  It is most likely NOT your project that is at fault.
Find out more details from the users that are complaining.  If at all possible, actually go and sit with them to watch the behaviour they're talking about.  Don't believe everything you hear.
Check that users are on the correct version of Flash Player. For example, Flash Player 10 can play significantly better than Flash 9.
Ask the user to check defragmentation on their PC.  Most users DON'T know how to do this and never defragment. As a result, I have seen PCs in corporate IT environments that had not been defragmented in years.  Their hard drive showed up mostly red when the fragmentation analysis was done.  This lack of PC housekeeping can contribute to many issues, especially with Flash or multimedia playback.  Ask the user to defragment 2 or 3 times to be on the safe side.
Watch the CPU on Task Manager while the PC is playing the Captivate presentation.  The performance monitor should tell you if the CPU is struggling and unable to decode the content fast enough.
Try to have another user log onto the same machine using a different profile and see if they experience the same issues.  This can tell you whether the issue is due to a corrupted user profile.  Conversely, have the same user log onto a different machine, creating a new profile for themselves on that PC to see if they experience the same issue.  If it seems to be their profile at fault, they may need to get some IT dude to blow away their profile and set it up afresh.
Check whether or not the issue could be due to server latency.  This is especially the case where LMSs are involved.  Users will often experience latency issues such as slow transitions from one quiz slide to the next because the course module has to wait for the LMS to respond before it can move forward.  If this is occurring for a significant number of users, you can try using the optional SCORM template that only sends tracking data at the end of the module instead of all the way through.
In my experience, if 95% of your user base is playing the content without issue, you don't need to change anything.  Chances are that whatever is going wrong for the few that are complaining about poor playback wouldn't necessarily improve no matter what you did to your project.  In the vast majority of cases, you need to isolate what exactly is causing the issue for these users and correct it ON THEIR END.

UPDATE: I just realised that a lot of this information would probably help others, so I created a blog post documenting these steps: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/debug_slow_playback

  • FIRE FOX IS GETTING SLOWER AND SLOWER LOADING PAGES I GO TO ONLINE. IT LOAD CIRCLE STOP SPINNING AND WILL START BACK BUT IT TAKES IT'S TIME TO DO SO. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON THROUGH THE LAST SEVERAL UPGRADES.

FIRE FOX USED TO BE A FAST BROWSER BUT IT IS GETTING SLOWER AND SLOWER. THE BLUE-E IS ABOUT TO THE POINT OF BEING FASTER THEM THE FOX. I HAVE ALWAYS LIKE THE FOX, JUST WANT TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM WITH IT AND THE LONGER I HAVE THE WINDOW OPEN ARE UP THE WORSE IT GETS. I DO A LOT OF GAMING ON FACEBOOK PLAYING MAFIA WARS BUT THE PROBLEM IS NOT LIMITED TO JUST THERE IT IS ALL THE TIME AND EVERY WHERE. I HAVE TRIED ADD-ON'S THINKING THEY MAY HELP BUT NOTHING HAS DONE ANY GOOD. CHROME IS TWICE IF NOT THREE
TIMES AS FAST AS THE FOX LATELY ON LOADING PAGES.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa

  • My browser takes minutes to open then when the tab is fully loaded it will start saying "Connecting" and slow down or freeze.

When I open my browser, it takes 3-5 minutes to fully open. When I get to a website, randomly the tab will say 'Connecting' and slow down and take 10-15 minutes to function or freeze completely. This almost always happens on sites that require Flash Player use. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my Flash several times. I've added memory, as someone suggested it was a memory issue. It's so frustrating, please help!
