N97 internet setting

can anyone please tell me what the internet setting are for my N97 im on at&t...tried automatic setup and it still doesnt work....please help

I actually read throught all the problems encountered on N97, but i am a little surprise that so many problems have pop up.
I did encounter a few resets myself, that was mostly on the first 3 days, while i was busy fiddling with the functions, including the internet call functions. i think on the fourth day, the phone wanted to do an update, and afterthat, its working without problems since.
I assume, after 4th day, i fiddle less, less load and changes, therefore the phone didnt give problem.But still, some of the problems listed in the fourm do exit, like after u have connected to the PC, the settings for the messages change back to C:.
i cannot be bother, and left it that way, after reading so much problems, i decided not to change too many setting.lol.
Meanwhile, its a good phone,except the need to get use to it again. NOKIA has changed so many folder names or removed them altogether, like the gallery is missing. now i have to re-learn what i know abt nokia for the last 10 years. Sad.

N97 Internet help

Hi Guys,
Had the n97 for about 3 weeks now and love it to bits....however i seem to have a small connectivity issue.
Here is my set-up,
Home screen apps are Facebook, OVI & BBCI player,
In destinations i have a new destination called "Tinternet" and in this i have the wifi (priority 1) contract internet(01) (priority 2) and Contract wap(01) (priority 3) and my internet setting are set to connect through "Tinternet"
The problems i have are that now i seem to lag out of Facebook with loads of scripting errors & OVI cannot upload anything unless on wifi without failing, now this is new to me, last week i was uploading maybe 20-30 pics a day through OVI and having a constant Facebook connection.
The connectivity icon in top left is always saying it has a 3.5g packet connection however acuweather will not refresh, Facebook will work every 10 tries and OVI refuses to upload any more
Anybody got any tips ?

Maybe your operator´s internet site can help you with that.
I had a similar problem as well and I took the configuration of the N95 and adpated it the my new phone. Of course this can not be done automatically, but has to be done manually.

N97 internet issues

I was recently bought the N97 and my service provider cannot send me my internet setting! How else could i receive the settings???

Hi, remove battery and sim card, replace battery only and restart phone, go to menu-settings-connectivity-destinations and delete all. Remove battery, replace sim and re-start phone, should sort it !

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and restore. If still problem come back with the exact wording of the error message.

Internet Setting Question

Hello,
I am visiting friends and have my Airport Extreme connected to their Fios router. I had to change the Airport Utillty Internet Setting to Bridge Mode. I'm returning home soon and am unsure which setting I need to revert to; "Share a public IP address" or, "Distribute a range if IP addresses"? At home I use a Cablevision cable modem. I think it uses DHCP.

How do I enable this internet setting ?????...I can't use ebuddy , facebook ......or all java applications which use internet.(my phone is already connected to the internet)

So, it means that your phone's software is corrupted if you can't use the third party apps or the ovi store.The key on the icon means that the app is protected and is a third party app.Or other way is to contact your service provider for gprs settings and you can't do mannual settings in C2-02/03/05/06 phones that's y u can't watch online videos.Rush your nearest Nokia Care Centre and update your phone's software and try to use ovi store for apps instead of third party apps and use your phone's default browser instead of opera,bolt,uc,netfront etc.

Can anyone tell me why youtube.com is so slow to load on my N97 when connecting to internet on network rather then wifi? When i had my N96 it was fine the videos would load at same speed as wifi or even as my lap top yet on my N97 they take ages to load and keep buffering every 2 seconds! highly disappointing on such a high quality phone. any comments or advise welcome...

Perhaps try limiting the number of apps accessing the internet at the same time. How is your phone set up? do you have apps like facebook, Gravity etc. constantly updating?

[N97] Internet Problems

Hi,
a week ago my N97's internet was perfect but since yesterday something has happened which is not allowing me to connect to the internet
when i start internet it says:
select connection:
(no data)
and from settings->connectivity->wlan i try to connect to my internet nothing happens

Have you set the phone to offline/flight mode ? in destinations, when your access point is highlighted and you select options you should have the option to delete it, if you do as I suggested when you re-define an access point (by opening the browser or a web based app) it should work fine. If you are still having problems a reset will solve it, but it seems a lot of work if you can resolve it by resetting the internet access points !

N97 internet connection issues

I got my N97 from Phones4U on the orange network towards the end of July. It worked fine (ish) until I downloaded the latest firmware (12.0.026.209.06) a week or so ago. I downloaded the firmware OTA, which seems to be a rarity among others, as I now understand it was withdrawn (?).
Anyways, since updating, I’ve been having issues with connection to the internet. The Web app asks for me to Select Connection -> Select Access Point every time I wish to view a new web page. When I try and set Orange Internet as Default via Settings -> Connectivity -> Network Destinations -> Default Connection, I get the error message “Unable to Connect, No suitable connection settings defined”, even though I’m using the settings issued by Orange.
Also, with Maps, since the update I’m unable to go online. I go to Options -> Tools -> Go Online, and get the error “Internet Usage Disabled”. WHY?! IT WORKED BEFORE!!
Generally not impressed, and regretting ever buying the thing…
Is a hard reset going to solve any of these issues?

There has been issues with internet destinations and wifi with the v12 firmware. I updated to it and couldnt use anything to do with internet.
If you have a back up the it will be a case of hard reset and restore your backup. If you havent got a backup like i didnt then hard reset and redo the setting you had manually inputted when u got the phone.
The destinations and wifi reappeared after the hard reset on mine.
V20 firmware is due out this month but when get it who knows.

N97 Internet Shortcut problem

I just updated to the latest firmware update using NSU (11.0.021), now that it has been rolled out on 3 network (UK) and have one slight problem with my Internet shortcut on the top shortcut bar on the home screen.
The icon has changed from the usual large globe, to a small white page with WWW running up vertically and a small globe next to it. When selecting the internet shortcut I am taken straight to a web page, as opposed to opening my bookmarks menu.
I have changed the setting to open straight to the bookmarks menu and when going in through Menu > Web it opens to my bookmarks but to matter what I do, the Internet shortcut on my home screen always tries to take me directly to a website and bypasses my bookmarks menu (and it is either Planet 3 (network's homepage) or Google Mobile!) depending on whether I connect through the network or through Wifi. I have made sure the shortcut is directed to Applications > Internet and not a bookmark.
Also, when changing themes to one with a different icon set, the Internet shortcut icon stays like this and no longer changes to the icon which came packaged with the theme for internet.
Anyone have any ideas on what happened or has had this problem following the firmware update? I just want my large globe icon pack on my home screen (it is still the large globe in the Menu) and want it to take me to my bookmarks menu NOT a website!

I had the same problem when i upgraded mine and found it most annoying - however i did manage to fix it and its relatively simple. Hold down your finger on the widget and then select settings (assuming you have it on the 4 icon favourite shortcut widget if that makes sense) - click on the shortcut you want to change (i think it will say internet but can't remember) basically change that shortcut to the application thats called 'web' thats it - The icon will change to the globe again and it will then go to your default homepage.

My computer keeps switching its internet setting from Airport to Ethernet without me doing anything. How can I fix this??

My computer keeps switching its internet type from "Airport" to "Ethernet." As my computer is not connected to an Ethernet cable, the ethernet does not work, and so I lose internet connection every time it does this. And it does this two or three times a minute (no exaggeration). This means that, by the time I've changed the setting and refreshed my page, the internet type has changed again, and I'm back to square one.
So far, I've tried the following:
-Reordering the list of priorities on the "Network Preferences" page
-Going to the Ethernet "advanced" options and switching everything to either "off" or from "automatically" to "manually"
-Rendering the Ethernet inactive
-Finally, I created a new location with only airport on
Usually, doing these things makes the problem go away for a day or two, and then it just comes back again.
It's not a problem with the internet itself, as this has been an ongoing issue for the past few months, and I've switched locations three times since then.
Does anyone know how to make my computer stay on Airport, and NOT switch to the Ethernet setting all the time?

ANOTHER N97 INTERNET RADIO THREAD N97

I have now owned the nokia n97 for 2 months, in this time I have spent 1-2 hours per day trying to find a work around for internet radio so I can listen at work or in the car/ on foot.

during my intense googling and trial and errors using various links with various players I have only been able to make a small amount of progress, and the fact that I have bothered to write this is testament to my anger and building frustration at nokia and the so called flagship n97. it is especially painful when my previous phone the n95 did almost everything asked of the device, ok you get the point I am very very angry.

As an update to this post, I've just loaded a beta version of the Skyfire web browser (S60 v5 - http://www.skyfire.com/), which plays the video content on the BBC Sport internet pages & the Listen Live media player on the Talksport.net website. Definitely worth a go!

Time capsule not showing in airport utility? recently moved house and new internet set up!

I had a time capsule set up and working perfectly then we moved house, changed ISP and now time capsule light is flashing amber. When I open the Airport Utility only the internet (i.e. a globe) shows, no time capsule. My Macbook Pro has no ethernet port or I would have tried hardwiring! I can enter the time machine but back up history is red.
I read that latest OS may require a rename of the capsule if the original name was long (29 characters including spaces at present) but to change it the support says to access it via the airport utiltiy which I can't do!
Help anyone?!

Simply factory reset the TC and start over.
Any time you move the network configuration the TC will require a new configuration.
The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on.. all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
