Nasty tooltip strikes again!

Hi folks,
I would appreciate some help.
I particularly invoke the contribution of those that already
devoted their attention to my case. By reading this post, you'll
notice I have applied your useful suggestions. Still my page needs
"medical" support, though...
if you open the following version:
CASE A)
http://www.giuseppecraparottacv.co.uk/work-web.html
you see the layout as it should be, everything is at the
right place.
But the tooltip triggered by hovering on the first "let me
tell you something..." (.popup) is
positioned through top and left margin. This implies wrong
placement of the tooltip in IE6
& 7.
Why don't I absolutely position the tooltip relative to
.popup ?
Because it gets cut off due to the "overflow:hidden" declared
for the ul.
Getting rid of
ul {overflow:hidden;}
and
li {float:left; width:100%}
would make the ul code cleaner and I would love that, but it
implies that the tooltip looks
really buggy, especially in Opera 9.10 , as you can see at:
CASE B)
http://www.giuseppecraparottacv.co.uk/work-web2.html
Besides, in this last version the absolutely positioned
".works", relative to <li> looks out of
place in IE5. I'm thinking of resorting to an html hack to
solve that.
The "float:right" positioning method (commented) seems
disastrous, given the removal of
the properties mentioned above.
MY QUESTIONS ARE :
1) Is there a way to get rid of overflow:hidden, float and
width from ul and li and having a
correct displaying of the tooltip?
2) Given the removal of these properties, is there a way to
position absolutely the .works
link consistently in FF, IE and Opera 9.10 without recurring
to a IE hack?
If the answer to these questions is "NO" or similar,
3) Would you approve the choice of positioning the tooltip as
in case A) and recurring to
IE-specific code to position it correctly in IE?
Thank you, hope this won't bother you,
cheers,
G

Something I have noticed is that, since the first appearance of OpenRG, I have twice as many CWMP sessions every day. Looking at the TR069 event log, I see that I still get the CODE 2 PERIODIC session at 24 hour intervals that I've always had, but now they're immediately followed by a CODE 6 CONNECTION REQUEST session. Clearly BT or their agents have set things up so that this happens every day, but nothing seems to follow from it, and the 1.7 firmware still isn't installed, or a new file downloaded.

  • Injustice strikes again

Anybody notice SCJPGuy's account got axed again? There goes nick number eleventyzillion of Goldie's. Gee, I wonder when he'll create eleventyzillion-and-one?
He must be fuming mad this time. Supposedly he was so well behaved under this nick.
I find it funny that he reported abuse against other members (jverd in particular), and supposedly thought Sun would take his abuse reports seriously and axe their accounts. Yet it appears the only account to get axed was SCJPGuy. Surprise, surprise (not).

In one of those threads, he claimed his litlte birds told him that there were new moderators in power, and they were cracking down with a "three strikes and you're out" policy, without regard to whether the offender is an oligarch.
Naturally I put that to the test. I made three rude comments in that thread, then reported abuse on myself. I wonder if they saw Abuse Report + Goldie Thread and didn't bother to look further.
    Amusing indeed.
    Poor little goldie.

  • Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.0 strikes again...

So I ran SU on my Macbook Pro and it detected that TB F/W 1.0 needs to be installed. I thought that was odd since it's an old update that I know I applied back in July 2011.
I installed it. Seemed like it took. Checked SU again and it's still there.
I've cleared disk permissions, repaired them, installed it many more times.  It's in the list as successfuly applied.
The data in system information is:
    Firmware Version: 22.1
    Link status: 7
    Port Micro Firmware Version: 2.0.7
Do I have the most recent TB firmware or is something wrong?
My macbook pro is Early 2011, 13", 8GB Kingston Ram, OSX 10.7.4, Build 11E27.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I've had the Beta for a while now.
Apple Dev site is where I got it from.
I was hoping multiple people had this update reactivate on them for some reason or another.  It's odd that it just popped up today and won't go away.

  • Kernal panic strike again (w/ reversed date)

Kernal panic has come back again. This time more strange things happened. After my PB encountered the first kernal panic, I rebooted it. As soon as it got to the desktop, after 6-7 secs later, the computer shut down itself. So I restarted it again, when it got to the desktop, there was a message saying the date has been set back to 3/2006. So I clicked ok. After a few seconds later, it shut down by itself again. So I restarted again. Until now it works ok...
The strange thing was when I checked the panic log, the date was actually set back to Jan 1, 1970.
    Here's the panic log:

The one thing I can tell you is that Kernel Panics are more often then not caused by Incompatible or bad RAM.
Many users add ram, to find out later that it is either Cheaper,Incompatible, or the wrong Ram.
This can be isolated by removing one stick and try using your computer, if the issue continues switch to the one you removed and then take out the other.
Remember running Tech Tool, or any of the other types of utilities will NOT Normally identify a stick of bad ram.
Crucial is a good brand and stand behind there product.
Always purchase ram from a company that offers a lifetime a 100% Guarntee.
    Cheers Don

  • Big Business strikes again (Verizon)

I am currently 4 days past my due date for my bill.  Verizon calls me all day while I am at work in a hospital mind you working a 12 hour shift to tell me that they must here from me today!!!! As soon as I leave work I call them to find out what already know they want me to pay my bill.  I tell them that I can schedule half of the payment now and half next week.  The customer service girl continues to ask me for some kind of payment today she is asking for 10.00, 15.00 or 20.00. I said I can't do that right now but on Friday I will pay half the bill and the following week the rest.  She continues to ask for a small payment.  WTH Verizon is as broke as me.  The conversation gets even worse when she says I have you scheduled to pay the full amount this Friday.  I said no that is not what I said.  Then she repeats herself and says we will be looking for the full amount by Friday and says is there anything else I can do for you.  Guess they need the money quicker than I thought. She also asked if I thought that I would be able to pay next months bill on time? My response was "Let's all pray that everyone that owes me money pays on time so I can pay on time." Just venting

On the harassment I totally agree with you.
It makes no difference if the company is multi billion or a mom and pop business. You agree to pay for a service monthly and that is what is expected of you. Not being heartless here but if it was a smaller mom and pop does it help to put them off when they are paying wages, taxes, water and power, gasoline for their vehicles, building and construction costs or rents?
Jobs can be lost if customers stop paying or pay when they feel like it.
And nowhere did I read where this poster could have said ok shut me off until I can pay your bill, but quite the opposite in this person needs the cell service on to be contacted. So you want your lines on but want to pay when you want later on down the line. You cannot have it both ways. And what if everyone started to pay willy nilly, would you feel its fair to just let the service stay on? I know I would be out of business if I allowed that.
True if the case warranted a little more time to Friday may have helped. But again half on Friday and the rest next month means the OP is still not paying the month up to date.

  • The dreaded battery with blue streak strikes again...

BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Sprint w/ latest updates.
Ok so went to the beach today and had the phone fully charged. so I went out there and left it on the beach for about 2 hours, face down inside a bag. The bag and phone were pretty darn hot when I came back but the battery at that point didn't seem affected. So I went on with my day texting, calling and what not. So the battery goes into the "red" 20% area and I put it face down on the ground again and this time the sun wasnt touching it.
I came back 20 mins later and the phone was all the way off with the red light blinking intermittently. so I figure ok I'm out of battery, I have to wait till i get home to charge. This is where the problem begins. I let it sit on the OEM wall charger for about 15-20 mins and nothing happened. I found this weird since I've drained the battery to the point of it shutting down to conserve power. so I take a look and press the start button, try holding it, and nothing, so I do a battery pull and nothing. At this point im freaking out a little thinking about how hot the phone had gotten earlier in the day.
So....here I am after having taken the battery out, plugging in the phone, waiting for the no battery symbol, and plugging it back in to get the battery with the blue streak across it. I left it alone for another 20 mins just in case it really was that drained and nothing. I plugged it into the computer and the computer recognizes it for about 15 secs, loads the usb driver and then just disconnects. The odd thing is, I have to use a flashlight to see the icons on the screen, like the backlight flashed once when I first plugged in the phone and hasnt come on since. Am I screwed or what? I'd rather not have to do a "O.S. nuke" but if that's the only choice...I'm getting my friend to lend me his battery tomorrow to see if it's the phone or battery that's screwed. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the USB cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage).
I just revived two devices with batteries that had been sitting dead for two months, this way.
Be patient, let it charge. Make sure you are using a charging source (wall, auto or PC/USB that you have known to charge correctly in the past).

  • Murphy's Law strikes again - Delayed rollout and lost activation info.

It's my own fault for not making a copy of the activation page when we first got greenlighted, but delays came down the pipe and now I've got an iTunes U site with no way to authenticate. Whoops.
Any suggestions to fix my horrid oversight? Thanks in advance.

Yes, if that person works for Apple.
Usually, each school is assigned an account rep and service engineer. Both are usually shared with other schools. My current rep (Chicago area) is Ty Beckmann ... and before Ty, (the venerable) Jack McLaughlin was our Apple contact. My current service engineer is Mike Miley (the god of all things video). I know some of the other engineers from the midwest ... Keith Mountin, Bill Duff, Bob Frank, Dale Carlson, Jerry Darling ... all of them are great guys. I've spoken to some other reps from around the country ... and I know a couple of the national people.
William, if you say where your from, it might help the reps who read these forums figure out whom you should contact. It might also be that Duncan fixes you up first (Duncan is the Apple's iTunes U guy in the forums). Someone from Apple will look out for you if they know your location/school.

  • Camera Raw Editing is not enabled strikes again

Hello everyone, I've always open raw files from bridge in ACR, since last evening, suddenly, while I am trying to open an image in  camera raw I keep getting an error message that  reads " Camera Raw editing is not  enabled.  Camera Raw editing required that a qualifying product  has been launched at least once to enable this feature." At last I cannot open files in ACR from Bridge at all. After a search in the net I've seen that it seems to be a rather common trouble but none of the solutions I've found (I've read of all in this forum) works for me. Did someone found a final solution to it? Im going crazy traying to understand what is that qualifying product in the message.
    Regards
    Marco

FWIW, this has happened to me twice as a result of a nightmare computer upgrade. I had to change my motherboard and CPU several times and twice, these different combinations caused Adobe activation to become confused. I got an error about number of activations exceeded and also this error about Camera Raw editing is not enabled. How I solved it:
    a) Called Adobe Support who were able to reset the number of activations, activated Creative Suite.
    b) Exit all open Adobe applications and restart them, it worked.
This is a minor varation on the previous user's comment, where deactivation/activation worked. I believe that Adobe Support did the deactivation.
It would be nice if Adobe activation were smarter; I've only ever had one computer, never two and certainly never three.

  • Unknown Error strikes again

I am having issues with the classic "Error compiling movie. Unknown error." bug when trying to render Quicktime H.264 720p and I was wondering if anyone has found a fix yet.
The sequence I am having issues with is a combination of MXF and TIFF files, about 10 minutes long with multiple audio channels.
    I have tried:
    Restarting Premiere
    Restarting my machine
    Switching to a different machine
    Clearing cached files
    Clearing rendered preview files
    Changing preview file type
Rendering in smaller sections to try and isolate bad files
    Removing all TIFF files
    Removing all MXF files
All of these have failed and I'm still getting the issue and still cannot render.
Has anyone found a fix for this issue??
I am using CC 2014 on Windows 8 Pro 64bit

I tried to reinstall gcc with deps (as it may stand for segmentation fault), reinstalled gtk, all to no avail.
Can somebody help me bring my system into condition after a typical arch-way update)?

  • Freeze problems - the spinning beachball strikes again

Long story short, I have Macbook Pro mid 2012, Mountain Lion and it keeps crashing. I restore via Time Machine but invariably it'll freeze when I'm booted up and when I have to force-quit I get the spinning cogwheel when I restart. I've tried all the 'stuck on grey screen' suggestions but nothing's working. Also my Time Machine (an external hard drive) seems to be having problems as well - it sticks on 94mb backed up out of a few gb. All help gratefully received

The startup drive is failing, or there is some other internal hardware fault.
Back up all data on the drive immediately if you don't already have a current backup. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

If you have the free space on your Time Machine drive and it's formatted as GUID, then I would clone my internal drive. You can boot from the clone, erase the internal drive and install Mavericks as a clean install. It's easy to copy your data only from the clone to the new install. We can discuss getting the applications you need but doing it carefully to be sure they run under Mavericks.
Both of these applications can be used to create a clone.

I have two articles you might find helpful.

  • Random Web pages strike again!!!

Being relatively new to Mac, I have searched a lot of discussions around my problem but still cant seem to rid my system of annoying web pages popping up when I click on a link in various web pages. Even clicking discussion links in Apple support brings them up.
I have tried resetting safari, Mac scan, DNS updater, DNS changer removal tool, ClamXav with no success. I still keep getting annoying popup web pages, some are ads while some offer free games while another is a music blog website.
I am scratching my head here, can someone please help.

some are ads while some offer free games while another is a music blog website.
    That particular combination sounds familiar.

    Hi Paul,
What you need to do is to call 0800-039-1515 and let them know that your product is missing. You are going to need you web order number, product number or description of the items. You can find more information here.
    I hope that helps,
PS I don't know if I answered your question completely, it was a guess. I am guessing you were getting your iBook shipped by TNT Logistics in the UK.
