Need help animating line art/paths

Help please...
I am trying to animate a line, to have it tween/morph between a line and a question mark and then back to a line. I've drawn my two shapes in Illustrator as line art (as paths, not as closed shapes), but I'm not seeing the paths as a mask when I paste them into my Solid Layer. The parts of my drawing that have closed shapes come in and form a mask, but not the individual lines/paths, not matter how thick I make them. I can see there is a path in AE if I click on the shape, but it does not come up as a masked area.
Is there a better way to do this, than to animate a mask? Animating masks seems to be the consensus how to do a lot of animation, but I'm stuck trying to get my line appear as part of my mask.
Happy to try another way; I have yet to see a tutorial that does what I'm trying to do, can't be a reveal, since the final shape needs to morph a few times. I am sure this is do-able (and probably not that hard!), but I can't figure it out; in Flash I would just tween between the two shapes, but not seeing how to do that effect in AE.

hi, i took some screengrabs also, so that you can perhaps see what i might be doing wrong...i inlcuded the original shape, from Illustrator, as well as what happens when I paste in AE. for my shape, blends won't work from Illustrator, I need the line to move in a certain way that Illustrator won't do using that feature. thanks very much .

I was thinking i need to follow the unix path /Volumes/... But i'm dealing with the Finder so it doesn't know that directory even exists.

The requirements are:
1. Data selection on column Item + Magnifying Glass Icon click will direct user to transaction code VF01 ====>>its working, but the problem is when i click the line item no 1, it wasnt work. Line item no 1 only but the rest items its workin.

Restored my library from backup discs, need help with album art/playlist

Good morning everyone. Using the great information on this site I have successfully backed up "my library". I then reformatted my hd and reinstalled win xp and itunes. I was also successful in using the awesome restore feature of itunes. "My library" is back 100%.
The only thing left is the album art and my playlists- both currently on my ipod. My question is how do I update "my library" and "my playlist" from my ipod? I am worried that if I plug in my ipod without knowing what to do then my ipod will try to match "my library" (which does not have artwork) and thus my ipod will delete the album artwork. I have several thousand songs and would HATE to lose that artwork since it would be a time consuming pain to update those manually. Also I have 20 or so playlists on my ipod. I am afraid of losing those (currently on ipod) when I connect to itunes since it will try to update and match the now empty/blank playlist currently in itunes.
I am sure these are easy solutions for you pros out there. That's why I am asking! You folks have always given the proper help and advice whenever an issue has arisen. Thanks in advance!

Just Google the album title, then click the IMAGES tab. More times than not, I find the album cover in multiple sizes and about every time, at least one version that is truly square.
All i need to do then is click the image, then again at the top of the resulting Google page (to show just the image - out of it's surrounding page), then drag the image directly to the Album Artwork Placeholder in the GET INFO tab (that has already been opened on multiple items - the whole album).

Need help with 3D repousee (path/sub path help)

i've ran out of options. i've looked and searched everywhere so i'm publicly begging for help. ok, here's the situation... my parents went away on a weeks vacation (just a joke for those of us in our 30's).
i made 2 text layers. on a capital B and on the left side is a P (flipped horizontally). i created a work path for each of the letters and then combined them both so that the stem of the B and P are shared (the whole object is one item-- it's all continuous. no gaps, just 3 holes that need to be punched out.
so, i managed to create the work path, but most of the time the "internal constraints" option isn't available. i read everywhere about how "sub paths" are used to signify where the object is to be punched through; however, i haven't found a link anywhere that says how to create a sub path in Photoshop (i found a couple of links on how to do this in Illustrator, but i don't have Illustrator). i did finally manage to create the outer path as a single path and then combined the 3 separate holes as one object and pasted it inside this same path (i copied the inner holes into the outer path layer of this object).
FYI, in case you need to know this, the 3 holes where not physically connected, but they were all in on path layer (so i guess you could call them grouped together). i tried every combination i could think of-- copying one path to a new path layer with each hole on their own path layer (and many other probably ridiculous combinations) with no luck.
i am extremely comfortable in Photoshop and know my way around it well; but, i'm not that proficient in using Adobe's vector options (i learned my vector graphics in Macromedia Freehand and haven't yet converted to Illustrator; nor do i have Freehand installed either). i even used to create 3D solid models in ACAD and 3D Studio Max and others, but alas, don't have it. so, i would like to start improving my Adobe path skills so that i can quit yelling and picking fights with my computer (she wins everytime). a special thanks to anyone who made it this far; you are indeed a gentleman/woman and a scholar!

i forgot to mention, i also tried to convert the object (the outer path and the 3 separate holes) to a shape layer, but once again after going to "repousee" the "internal constraints" option is grayed (greyed) out.

I need help using the target path tool

Hi all,
I realise that I need to keep all my code on the main timeline, so now I need some serious help with targeting movieclips and buttons, when I use the target path tool (the little gun sight in the action script panel) it lets me navigate to the thing I want, but when I use it's suggestion it very often doesn't work, and I am left using trial and error to work it out. Ican get stuff to work, but I really have no idea why or how I am doing it, Sorry to be such a N00B, but I really think if I can work this out I am going to get somwhere.

not when using code on the main timeline. "this" refers to the current scope which for code on the main timeline, is the main timeline. the following are the same:
this.mc and mc
this.var1 and var1
And still I want to know why the target tool gives me a path that doesn't work?
i can't tell you much about the target tool. i've never used it. but i tried testing it just now and it seemed to work correctly to target a nested movieclip. again, you must sure that object exists when your code executes so if you target something on frame 2 (or greater) of a movieclip using code on frame 1 of the main timeline, the reference may be correct but the object won't exist when your code executes. there are a number of ways to handle that if it's your main problem.

CR 9 - Need HELP Setting Line Graph colors in the Chart Expert

I created a Crystal Report (CR) based off an existing Trend Analysis report. I have created a VB6 application that calls the .RPT file I created for the report in CR. The VB6 app sets the report recordset via code that corresponds to the .TTX file, and the parameters . The report contains a Line graph that plots five pieces of data. The report & graph work good. The Problem: CR determines the color of each line on the graph. However, I need to set the color for each line to correspond to the colors used on our existing reports. The users are accustom to a certain color representing a certain set of data on the existing reports.   I have tried everything I can think of and from all documentation I can find, and nothing changes the line colors.   I have tried all of the following:
1.) From the Chart Expert, Option tab, I click the Format button next to Color and setup conditional color settings per each piece of data.   However, when I run the report these conditional color settings are not reflected on the CR graph.     I am using formula fields (based off database fields in the recordset) to produce the report. However, I only see the database fields to use in the conditional color formatting screen and not the formula fields.    I thought this would possibly be the cause why the colors wonu2019t change on the CR, but I canu2019t find a way to make the formula fields show up in the list.
2.)Also, I tried right clicking the individual lines of the graph and change the selected item color, but this didnu2019t change the color either. I do this in Design mode and Preview mode and neither one changes the color of the lines on the graph.
3.)I have also looked into the CR object model to see if I can change the line colors of the graph via code and it doesn't look like I am given this flexibility.
Do you know what I am doing wrong here?   I just want to be able to set the color of each line on the CR graph to the color I want instead of using the default colors. Are there some Hot Fixes that I need to apply to my copy of CR?

I got the problem fixed w/ the line graph not making the data lines the same color on the report as on the frmPlot graph.   Compare the two screen shots below.   The problem was as follows: When I created the graph (in the Chart Expert) the field u201CReadingDateu201D was not one of the Report Fields, and all the other fields were Report Fields (Reading, LowAlarm, UpperAlarm, LowerLimit, & UpperLimit). See the 3rd screen shot below. ReadingDate does show up as a Report Field now but it wasnu2019t at first.   Originally, this field was only available in the Chart Expert as a recordset field. When I changed this field to be a Report Field, the graph then allowed me to change the data series line colors.   This was not obvious at all.   From the beginning when I setup the graph and passed in the recordset from VB it graphed all of the data series fine.   The colors that the Chart Expert chose for each line just didnu2019t match what was on the frmPlot graph.   Anyway, it is working now.     I can at least say I learned (somethingu2019s to-do and somethingu2019s not to-do) a good bit about Crystal Reports in the process.

Need help in Line bar combo chart - line is not prominent in dashboard

Hi All,
I face an issue where the line in a line bar combo chart is not prominent in Dashbords.
lets say i have 5 reports (all of them are line bar combo charts) in a dashboard. The lines in graph are not prominent or not displayed in usual thickness. But this scenario does not happen always. if i scroll down or up the browser(here i am using IE8) some of the reports displays line in the charts and some does not display the line. when i click on the report then the line will be displayed.
please suggest whether this is a browser issue ror something to deal with OBIEE itself.

Symptoms
When the chart type is changed from Standard or Default line-bar to Stacked line-bar chart, the bars are reducing their width.
Line-bar should keep the width of the previous bars.
However, when vertical Bar is changed to stacked vertical, the bar width remains the
same. But when a regular Line-Bar is changed to stacked vertical, the width
changes (reduces, in this case it becomes half the original width)
Cause
For dual Y stacked bar graph, the bar width was half of the regular bar width
because the series assigned to Y2 was given the half of the space also. This is not needed if the marker type for Y2 is not bar.

Need help with line-by-line triggering

We have a Basler L104k-2k digital linescan camera interfaced to a NI PCI-1428 frame grabber. We are writing our own custom software using VB6 and NI-IMAQ. We are trying to trigger the image acquisition off of our table motion so that slowing down the table will slow down the shutter speed, etc. We are controlling motion with a NI PCI-7342 servo card and have a RTSI cable connecting the 7342 and 1428 cards. We have been unable to acquire images by line-by-line triggering via the RTSI signal. We have looked at all of the examples we could find on the NI site and still have not been able to get this to work. We are setting up a signal in IMAQ to trigger off of the encoder and route it over RTSI, with some skiptrigger value (say 8000).
We only seem to be getting one line diplayed in the video image. We have used the basler camera setup tool to set the camera to ExSync, Level Control.
We are only allocating one image buffer in IMAQ. We are assuming that the grame grabber takes all of the individual linescans and composes one image out of them. In MAX, we have set the image height to 2048 lines. Any ideas? We have hit the wall on this.

Attached is an example VI for acquiring images from a line scan camera, triggering the start of each image and the individual lines. This is not the most elegant of examples. You will need to declare the appropriate number of buffers in MAX before using the VI. The image is built in PC memory. For example, if your image is 2048 x 10000, then you will need 10000 buffers. Need help, red lines Insignia 46" TV

Hi all,
I am looking for some help. I am having an issue where every 20 minutes or so a red line flickers on the screen for about 1 second and goes away. It is not a full red line across the whole tv. It is longer horizontally but it is not one row of pixles. It varies in size but it is most of the time on the left side of the screen however it moves up and down for where it will appear.
I don't believe this is a cable issue as its happening on all of my devices (2 HDMI connections 1 Component ). The Tv is also less than a month old.
Any insight would be great

This is a very odd symptom. I would start by disconnecting HDMI inputs an see if it still happens with just the component input connected. Still happening? Make sure cables are fully seated. If issue continues, likely a TV issue (you have a 30day window to exchange). If problem goes away, it may be caused by a bad HDMI cable or one of the HDMI sources. It would be a good idea to make sure the connections are clean (blow out any dust in connector) and fully seated. A loose component cable may cause similar symptom as well, all connections should be checked for a correct & secure connection.

Need help fixing a file path problem

Hi everyone,
I'm using Dreamweaver 8 and for some reason my url/path name
visually changed in my new web pages. Anything that has a path
(i.e. image, a link etc) now has a prefix in this particular page.
Ex. older files,
images/flower.gif
changed to
../../images/flower.gif.
This is really annoying because when I try to copy fields
from new web page to put in the older files, it includes the ../../
which doesn’t exist in the older files. Even when I create a
new page the prefix is present.
How do I get it back to the old path?

I need help to modify my AS script

I have the following script and I would like to modify it:
1.On this file I need to type the name of some video Albums in order to be displayed in the SWF file.
2. What I wanr is that this file read the specific folder and read the directories which they will be the names of the Albums
How can I do this?
One more thing is that this file was created to work with Flas CS3 and I am trying to test it with CS5.
I really appreciate the whole help I can get.

This is a web-based app. And the application is for a carrousel video gallery.
I already figure out the auto XML generator with php, but I think I want to get all in one process. Meaning that I only want to upload my videos and run php codes by themselves and not to worry in adding or modifying the *.fla file everytime that I insert a new folder ("Album").

It's called 3D Video Gallery, I bought the component through a website for flash components, but their support is not very good, that's why I want to fix as much as I need.

Help Animating A Logo

Dear Fellow Forum Users
I need help animating this Logo, but I don't know how to use After Effects, I used it a couple of times about two years ago. But I have a project am working on now. So I don't have the time now to learn After Effects from scratch, because of time and so many other projects I have to work on.
So I basically need y'all guys help with a few things I want to do with this logo.
I want to triangles to animate coming from the middle of the screen, then they would all line up back in the center, like one by one.
Then I want the word New Creations Kind come out of the white background.
Three I want to add little motion to the triangles, while there standing and a little extra glare over them.

Well, you decided to jump into the deep end of the pool, and HOW! No knowledge of what must be one of the most complicated applications ever devised... no time to learn... you're really trusting in the Kindness of Strangers here, aren't you?
And how come you got saddled with this over the observance of the birth of out Lord & Savior Jesus Chrst, anyway?
Oh, well.
Make each triangle a separate layer. Use masks if you must to isolate each triangle. Align the anchor point so that it rotates properly to align with the ones below it. Now animate the the rotation property to make them align according to the timing of the animation.
Animate the opacity of the text to make it appear. Put everything on a white background; you can either alter the background color or create a white solid, and put it at the bottom of the timeline, making it the bottommost layer.
If you need any more help than that, you're sunk, I fear. You might be able to insert a table into a Microsoft Word document just by using the help files, but this is After Effects, a far more sophisticated and complex application. You can't go into this thinking, "Hey, how tough can it be just to give a couple of instructions?"
It can be plenty tough, and this may be the day you realize that.
