Network install fron x86 solaris server to x86 solaris client ?

My setup is:
install server OS: Solaris 10, i86pc .
The install server is also boot server using tftpboot.
The dhpc server is configured according to the instructions which are
given when adding an install client in Solaris 10.
The client can communicate with the install and boot server but fails
to load the boot image. The snoop output is

Any suggestions???

I must have been too late previously. I got a whole host of output now.
The boot clearly tries to get underway, but configs fail, such as the real
boot file. I followed the instructions in the manual to setup the
dhcp server but must be missing something.
The output on the client is:

Any further ideas ?

  • Problem Re-Installing Sun One App Server 7 on Solaris 8

    I will try my best to describe my problem.
    I successfully installed Sun One App Server 7 Standard Edition on Solaris 8. It was installed on a mounted secondary hard disk. That hard disk has since gone bad. I bought a new hard disk and have that mounted.
    I want to install Sun One App Server 7 again. I am installing through the GUI, but do not the options to install the server even though it is completely gone. I guess the installer seems to think that the product is already installed, even though the previous hard disk with all of the application server files are gone. Is there any way to uninstall or remove the installed status of the application server so I can reinstall?
    Thanks.

    Thanks! I tried the prodreg tool and found the Application Server node, and clicked Uninstall. It went through an uninstall process. Even though it came back with an error, the re-install process after worked great. Thanks again.

  • A network installed HP8600, will not connect to a new client with OS WIN7SP1, WSD Print Driver err

    aloha,
    My home network consists of 3 computers with OS WIN7-SP1 and a Networked HP8600 connected thru a Linksys E3200 router.  2 of the 3 computers have been on the network with the 8600 for several months and have had ongoing problems with receiving a print command.  I've been trying to load the Printer software on the 3rd computer for the last 2 days without success.  The software fails to complete installation and hangs up when trying to ID the Networked 8600.  I had HP Print and Scan Dr. operating in the background and it found the printer, and gives the message "Installation failed", "Windows can not find a suitable Printer driver".  Is there a fix that my research is failing to find?

    If you connect the printer to the router using the Ethernet cord it is effectively "wireless" to all the other devices on the network. You just have to select "Network - Ethernet" as your connection type and install the printer that way to ensure they are all connected. If you do this, the printer will not have to be tangiby "connected" to any of the computers on your network.

  • Connection between  oracle 9i server and oracle 9i client

    hi there,
    i have installed both oracle 9i server and oracle 9i client in my system.how can i connect these two to have connection between these server and client?
    Because i was using only 9i server for creating database and for other purposes.i have not used 9i client yet.
    Please write me the answer.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Balu,
    If you have the Oracle 9i Client, you can just edit your TNSNAMES.ora file of your client to have a TNS Entry for your new Database & try connecting it. You just need to try TNSPING & ensure that you can reach the Listener.
    Are you facing any specific problems ?

  • Solaris v10 sparc jumpstart server on x86 solaris - can't find miniroot.

    I am trying to setup a jumpstart install server on an x86 solaris v10 machine to do a sparc network install. I downloaded both the CD and DVD sparc v10 ISO's. When I mount the CD, the Solaris_10/Tools/Boot directory (miniroot system) is symlinked back to ../../../s1 which does exist. I can't find it on the CD, I've used prtvtoc and this slice does not seem to exist.
    On the DVD iso, the directoy exists, but many files cannot be read, almost like the filesystem is corrupt.
    I've download these ISO and burned them many times, so I know it's not an issue with hardware or the CD/DVD media.
    Where can I download a working sparc solaris v10 miniroot system?

    There is no such entry under solaris. This entry only exist on windows.
    On solaris you need to change entries in the kjs script (prior to SP3)
    or iasenv.ksh (after SP3)

  • Solaris 8/07 x86, wireless intel 2200bg networking

    Just finished a dvd-based install of solaris 8/07 x86 (not opensolaris) and everything good, except wireless networking.
    Before the install, I ran the suitability/compatibility tester and it vetted my wifi and everything else.
    ifconfig doesn't show my iwi interface. no /dev/iwi? either. And no wificonfig tool anywhere on the hard drive.
    Did I miss a step in the install?
    What do I need to do to be able to wifi on this supported wifi?
    I will eventually try the opensolaris, but I have 640MB and the opensolaris doesn't install unless it sees 768 MB.
    N.B: openBSD and BSD/nixes experienced ... but a little new to solaris so any and all pointers and details appreciated.
    Thanks,

    ifconfig doesn't show my iwi interface.Did you do:
    ifconfig -a plumb
    ifconfig -a
    This is the answer to a really FAQ:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "ifconfig -a" on Solaris will only show "plumb"ed interfaces.
    Plumb your interface(s) first!
    If you don't know the name (or index#) use "ifconfig -a plumb" to plumb all (that wasn't already plumbed)!
    "plumb" is to power on, and load and initialize the driver for the relevant interface.
    As for the PrefPane issue: Repairing disk permissions on the main volume and on the partition that holds the system did not make any difference.
  • Installing Solaris 10 on x86
    I have downloaded the iso files and zip files(all 5 files) for Solaris 10 for x86.
    How do I go about installing it on a particular partition?I
    am running Win XP Pro, but have made an unformated partition on a logical drive in the extended partitions.
    How much disc space do I need?(The documentation says 2gb,but I guess I shud allocate mroe?
    I've just installed Solaris 10 1/06 yesterday. I have already had windows xp installed on my system and there was no problem with this. At that time the partition configuration was: 5,5GB for the Primary Partition on which XP was installed and the rest to about 80GB was an extended partition (logical).
    Using Partition Magic I resized and moved the logical (larger) partition so that I would get some free space before and after that partition. I've used the "left side" unused space created to enlarge the winXP NTFS partition to a total of 9GB. The unformatted space of 15 GB remaining at the "right side" I've formatted as a primary partition (FAT32) - this does not really matter, but I wanted there to be a partition I could see.
    As you can see, I reserved 15 GB for Solaris 10. The full installation costs about 6-6,5 GB. During install you will be prompted for a sort of "drive configuration" in which I specified about 10GB for the Solaris system, 4GB for my Home "drive"/directory (I'm not used to Unix terminology) and about 850 MB for Swap (beeing taken into consideration the physical memory of 512MB). The system works fine like this. The only problem I get now is that Partition Magic will not start anymore in windows because it does not recognize the Solaris partition and that creates an error. :P
    Hope it helps.
  • Installing 9.0.3.0.0 on Solaris 10 x86
    Hi
    I have a SPARC version of 9.0.3 that I have tried to install on a Windows server and the runInstaller file fails to execute (presumably because its looking for a SPARC chip not a Intel!)
    My question is, is there an X86 version of 9.0.3? I cannot find one on the download site and the Partner CD request web page only shows SPARC 32 bit and 64 bit as options?
    I specifically need 9.0.3 (not 9.0.4 / 10g).
    Thanks, Charles
    Hi,
    Unfortunately 9.0.3 was desupported 01-JUL-2005. You might be able to get hold of old software though support, but you should really start planning for an upgrade to 9.0.4 or 10.1.2.
  • Hyper-V on Win2k8 SP 2 - windows server standard x86 not installiing
    Hi,
    I tried to install the Hyper V on the Win2k8 SP 2 - windows server standard x86  server but it doesnt work.
    Downloaded the KB Windows6.0-KB950050-x86.msu. Couldnt install saying "The update does not apply to your system". Dont know why. Checking wmic qfe list it lists the KB file. Cant find it in server roles anywhere.
    Hyper-V is only available on x64 Windows versions. No Hyper-V on x86/32 bit OS. In addiction Windows 2008 is only available on 32bit version. Starting from Windows Server 2008 R2, only x64 version is available.
  • Enterprise Manager grid on Solaris 10 for x86 server
    Hi,
    We are using Oracle 10g R2 on Solaris 10 on x86 servers.
    I was going through the documentation library. I could find the EM Grid documentation for all platforms like Linux, SPARC, HP-UX, AIX etc.
    However, I could not find anything for Solaris on x86 machines.
    Is there any documentation specific to the x86 architecure or should I simply go through the SPARC documentation and take all the learnings from there?
    Please let me know.
    Thank you
    KV
    Are you referring to the agent install or Grid (OMS) part. I don't see EM/Grid binaries for Solaris x86..that should explain why you couldn't find documentation for Solaris x86.
  • Oracle 8i Installed (v8.1.7) on Solaris 8 IA, x86 build 10/01
    I installed Oracle 8i v8.1.7 on Solaris 8. Everthing seems to have went well but when I try to start the Database using the Oracle utility dbstart I get:
    $ dbstart
    dbstart: not found
    $ sqlplus
    sqlplus: not found
    I'm logged on as oracle user of course. Has anyone seen this before? I really don't know what to do. Both files are located in /d01/app/oracle/product/817 directory. Please help...
    Thanks
    You must set the path of oracle home directory. You can do that by modifiying the PATH Variable on Solaris.
    # PATH=/oracle/bin ...
    # export PATH
    Note. Make sure you add the previous values in path as well.
    To view the values of Path varaible use
    # echo $PATH
    One other thing you will have to do is that add oracle environment variables to the os user's ".profile". The most commonly env. varaibles are ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID.
    Hope this will solve your problem.
    regards,
    Mohsin.
