  • Network Management Reports not showing any data on scom 2012 r2

    Hello,
I have imported Windows Server operating system Management Packs and it  started monitoring the windows server system and network adapter state showing healthy state for all the adapter attached to  Virtual Windows Server 2012 Machine.
but none of data showing on Network Management Reports ,all the other reports are working properly. If  Its need to enable some monitor which are disable by default, pl z list what are the monitors how to enable those monitors?
May I first need to Deploy agent particularly on network adapter ?

  • Network DR test causes Exchange DAG network to fail (Failover Cluster Manager reports comms errors)

We have a DAG configured between 2 mailbox servers, one in each of our main data centres. Our comms team recently performed a DR test between our 2 data centres, switiching from the main production link to the backup link. During this outage the Failover
Cluster Manager reported errors, with each mailbox server reporting the other as uncontactable. The Events that were logged include the following:
Isatap interface isatap.{02ADE20A-D5D4-437F-AD00-E6601F7E7A9D} is no longer active. (EventID 4201)
Cluster node 'MAILBOX_SERVER' was removed from the active failover cluster membership. The Cluster service on this node may have stopped. This could also be due to the node having lost communication with other active nodes in the failover cluster. Run the
Validate a Configuration wizard to check your network configuration. If the condition persists, check for hardware or software errors related to the network adapters on this node. Also check for failures in any other network components to which the node is
connected such as hubs, switches, or bridges. (EventID 1135)
File share witness resource 'File Share Witness (\\WITNESS_SERVER\SHARE_NAME)' failed to arbitrate for the file share '\\WITNESS_SERVER\SHARE_NAME'. Please ensure that file share '\\WITNESS_SERVER\SHARE_NAME' exists and is accessible by the cluster. (EventID
    1564)
Cluster resource 'File Share Witness (\\\WITNESS_SERVER\SHARE_NAME)' in clustered service or application 'Cluster Group' failed. (EventID 1069)
The Cluster service is shutting down because quorum was lost. This could be due to the loss of network connectivity between some or all nodes in the cluster, or a failover of the witness disk. Run the Validate a Configuration wizard to check your network
configuration. If the condition persists, check for hardware or software errors related to the network adapter. Also check for failures in any other network components to which the node is connected such as hubs, switches, or bridges. (EventID 1177)
The Cluster Service service terminated with service-specific error A quorum of cluster nodes was not present to form a cluster. (EventID 7024)
The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 5000 milliseconds: Restart the service. (EventID 7031)
Looking at the Cluster Events in the Failover Cluster Manager Snap-In i see a heap of Event ID 47 (cannot activate the DAG databases as the server is not up according to Windows Failover Cluster Service) and:
Node status could not be recorded. This could prevent some network failure logic from functioning correctly. NodeStatus:IsHealthy=True,HasADAccess=True,ClusterErrorOverrideFalse,LastUpdate=5/2/2011 8:25:42 AMUTC Failure:An Active Manager operation failed.
Error: An error occurred while attempting a cluster operation. Error: Cluster API '"ClusterRegSetValue() failed with 0x6be. Error: The remote procedure call failed"' failed.. (EventID 184)
Forcefully dismounting all the locally mounted databases on server 'BACKUP_MAILBOX_SERVER. (EventID 307).
Our Comms team doesn't believe it is a comms issue as they did not log any network communication errors between the servers in the two sites (using icmp). So if it is not a comms issue, how can I configure the Failover Cluster Manager to be resilient to
this type of network failover event.
    Thanks
    Dan

Isn't it also true that in a stretched DAG with even numbered nodes, the PAM needs to be in the same site as the active DAG node?  If the connection between both nodes goes down, and the PAM is in the "passive" site, the primary node will
dismount the databases since it can't check with the PAM to make sure its safe for it to be up.
In a even-numbered node stretched DAG, the PAM changes to the DR/passive site everytime a failover occurs, but doesn't automatically switch back when you reactivate the primary node.

  • Device Manager reported driver missing for Officejet 7310 printer

I used the full-feature install software downloaded from HP site to setup an Officejet 7310 printer on a Lenovo T540p laptop with Windows 8.1 64-bit OS.  The install and the printer appear to work correctly as I can print and I can also scan from the HP Solution Center utility.  However, the Device Manager reports two errors/anomolies as follows.
Under the "Multifunction adapters" entry the Officejet 7300 series Properties shows the Device Status as:
This device is disabled. (Code 22)
Click Enable Device to enable this device.
Under the "Other devices" entry theOfficejet 7300 series Properties shows the Device Status as:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
I find this a bit baffling as I believe the install software is supposed to include the driver(s), plus the printer seems to function (which could be due to default Microsoft drivers).
Any thoughts on how things got in this state and how to recover would be deeply appreciated as I prefer to not "ignore" the error messages.
    Thanks,
    Glenn
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Yes I was able to remove the USB instance and rename the network-connected printer instance as the sole printer.  I thought that should work, but I was a bit paranoid given the other weird things that happened with the package install.
I'm good to go; thanks again.

  • Trying to use wireless N with iwlwifi & network manager

Have all the h/w necessary to use wireless N:
    Intel Centrino-N 1030
    Linksys E3200 running Tomato 1.28
    Linksys E4200 running dd-wrt 21286
Also updated everything today (pacman -Syu):
    >uname -a
    Linux hostname 3.12.9-2-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jan 31 10:22:54 CET 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux
So, with either router set up with as an AP at 2.4GHz and N-Only (the centrino 1030 doesn't support 5GHz), and the module defaults loaded, I see odd behavior.  First, once connected to either AP, Network Manager still reports the connection to be at B/G.
I checked the module config, and this part is relevant:
    >modinfo iwlwifi | grep 11n
parm: 11n_disable:disable 11n functionality, bitmap: 1: full, 2: agg TX, 4: agg RX (uint)
There's a lot of chatter on the forums about earlier kernels not supporting N w/ iwlwifi, and recommending to disable it with '11n_disable=1' in /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf.  So I tried explicitly enabling it, and assuming it's a binary value:
    >cat /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
    options iwlwifi 11n_disable=0
After reloading the module(s) (and restarting wpa_supplicant & networkmanager), the thing I'm finding confusing is that I can see evidence of this change take effect:
    >cat /sys/module/iwlwifi/parameters/11n_disable
    0
...but it doesn't affect the output of modinfo (same as above), nor am I able to connect to either router at N (NM still reports B/G).  Also confused how it connects at all when the routers are set to N-Only?

    modinfo iwlwifi
That is not supposed to change. It just shows you the parameters and their valid configurations.
    options iwlwifi 11n_disable=0
    >cat /sys/module/iwlwifi/parameters/11n_disable
    0
Did you check that it was not already 0?
...but it doesn't affect the output of modinfo (same as above), nor am I able to connect to either router at N (NM still reports B/G).  Also confused how it connects at all when the routers are set to N-Only?
If the card connects with the routers set to n only, then the card is capable of working with n. I usually check with nm-tools and look at the speed indicated.
Here is the thing: Routers and cards sometimes negotiate a lower speed to prevent intereference with other devices. I usually 'get' N-speed only once I start to saturate the link.

  • Network manager in xfce doesn't connect but wifi-menu does?

I may be misunderstanding how to use this since I've never done wireless from the command line before, but here is my situation:
I just installed arch on my Acer Aspire One and used both the wired and wireless from the command line. I had never done wireless from the command line before and just followed the Beginners Guide and used wifi-menu to select the network to connect to. It was very very smooth and connected me in seconds. After installing xfce I decided I wanted a tray icon for selecting wireless stuff and so I installed networkmanager and network-manager-applet. After starting nm-applet it reported my wireless as disconnected (even though it was connected) and when I asked it to connect to my network it was unable to connect. I restarted the computer and still no success. While I can get by with wifi-menu, it would be awfully nice if I could get network manager to work with xfce. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
    Thanks in advance.

I switched to using wicd and after a little while of using it it seems to work pretty well. It works significantly better than NetworkManager and doesn't drop connections very often so long as the signal is good.
My one complaint is that every so often a process called wicd-monitor likes to start using 100% cpu on one of my cores. Since this is a netbook and power is critical, I usually end up killing the process or restarting wicd so that it stops draining my battery.

  • Unified Communications Network Management Licensing

    Hi,
i have purchased all 4 VOIP Network Management Software (CUOM, CUSM, ecc...) with their PAK. Now i'm going to register the 4 PAK, but i have a doubt: Cisco requires the MAC address of the server that hosts the Management Software. I have installed the Cisco software on 2 HP dl380 servers with 4 NIC's and, on each server, i configured 2 NIC's in load balance (with embedded HP network software): the other 2 NIC's are disconnected.
Is there someone that can tell me which MAC address i must provide to Cisco PAK registration ?
    Thank you,
    Roberto

Interesting question. When you configured the network team, the MAC address of one of the physical interfaces was grabbed and assigned as the team's primary layer 2 address.  If I recall correctly, this would normally be the first (lowest numbered) ethernet interface.  But it is likely more complicated than that.  But, the point is I would lean to using the mac address reported for the team by the network configuration utility (NCU).

  • Network management

    Hello guys..
this my first question for me at Cisco support forums..
I have couple of questions and I would like to get your views and answers..
Suppose that I am administrator of a university, and I created an excellent design for my network.
1)How can I manage my network from my office.. I mean what kind of software that helps me to monitor my entire network for faults, configuration, performance and security for medium enterprise like university with lowest cost possible.
does anyone have idea about how Cisco nac works??

If you look at Cisco NAC from an overall perspective of network management and network security, you can consider the following:
    Additional NAC Services
The Cisco NAC Solution can be optionally deployed with the Cisco Identity Services Engine for profiling services and the NAC Guest Server.
    • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE): Cisco ISE provides profiling capabilities that can discover, analyze, and classify in real time all the endpoints connecting to the network. Cisco ISE comes with hundreds of built-in profiles for devices such as IP phones, printers, mobile devices (IPads, IPhones), scanners, and more, making it possible to identify the type of device connecting to the network. Cisco ISE provides the administrator full visibility into everything connected to the network in real time. It allows the administrator to control the access privileges associated with each type of endpoint.
Starting the Cisco ISE Version 1.0 MR and Cisco NAC Version 4.9, the Cisco ISE can integrate with the Cisco NAC to provide profiler capabilities to a NAC deployment. The combined deployment of the Cisco NAC with the Cisco ISE is the replacement for the Cisco NAC Profiler, which has reached end-of-life status.
To find out more about Cisco ISE, please visit:http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11640/products_data_sheets_list.html.
    • Cisco NAC Guest Server: The optional Cisco NAC Guest Server streamlines the provisioning, notification, management, and reporting of guest users on wired and wireless networks. It offloads resources from IT staff who are charged with supporting corporate visitors. The secure NAC Guest Server enhances your ability to protect your assets, employees, and information while providing network access that fully meets your visitors' business needs. For more information about the Cisco NAC Guest Server data sheet, visit: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10160/products_data_sheets_list.html.
    and that requires planning....
    alot...
and lab tests first before entering production.
In a network with approx 1000 users you will definitely need a few monitoring tools.  For security , really study NAC concepts and ISE.  Keep in mind , the more users you have, the longer it takes to implement ISE,  but if you have that going, you have the network on lockdown at your fingertips.
Please rate if you find helpfull

  • Network management system recommendations

I have been looking at some network management systems such as SolarWinds, but I would like to kick the question back to the community to see what you guys recommend.
I am looking for a powerful, uniform, monitoring system that includes the following:
    1. Network device management (syslog, configuration management, inventory, device tracker [like CW CampusManager], etc.)
    2. Application monitoring (checking if hyperlinks are working, availability, etc.)
    3. Database monitoring (SQL query response times, etc.)
    4. QoS monitoring (jitter, delay, SLA, etc.)
    5. Alerts
Anything beyond this would be a plus.
I am looking for the "best" solution out there in terms of performance and features ...

NetFlow and IPSLA are different technologies.
Cisco NetFlow captures header information from actual IP traffic passing through router interfaces and reports on traffic usage, applications used, souce and destination of traffic, port and protocol used, ToS, DSCP, next hop and so on. Using NetFlow you can see who is using your bandwidth, what application is being used, etc.
Cisco IPSLA is a feature from Cisco that lets you measure the performance of a link using simulated packets and reports on jitter, latency, packet loss, Round-Trip time, packet loss, link availability, etc.
In short, NetFlow is used for bandwidth monitoring and traffic analysis of actual IP traffic that is passing through a link and IPSLA is used to measure how a link will perform when traffic passes through it.
Cisco supports both features - NetFlow and IPSLA.
IPSLA needs Cisco devices with IPSLA support at the source and destination ends with atleast IOS 12.3(14)T
NetFlow is exported as UDP packets to a flow analyzer tool - many tools use 9996 or 2055 for NetFlow export
IPSLA requires routers with Cisco IPSLA capability and IPSLA stats is collected via SNMP.
There are tools in the market which can monitor both. We at ManageEngine have NetFlow Analyzer, which supports NetFlow and IPSLA in addition to many more monitoring technologies like Cisco NBAR, WAAS monitoring, Cisco Medianet, etc.
Cisco NBAR is a deep packet inspection technology which analyzes data packets to report on application usage. NBAR can detect applications hiding behind well know ports or using random ports and you can also further use NBAR to define your QoS polcies.
If you need to know more on the software that can monitor these technologies, you can contact ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer support at netflowanalyzer-support 'at' manageengine. com

  • Nmcli (Network manager) not working after upgrade

It seems there is a bug in the command line tool "nmcli" after a recent upgrade ..
The GUI applet still works, but I can no longer start/stop connections with nmcli ..
The error when using nmcli con ... is:
    Stopping Mobile Broadband Connection.
Error: Can't obtain connections: settings service is not running.
I had a script using nmcli to start stop my 3G connection .. it no longer works.
If I downgrade networkmanager network-manager-applet and any dependancies, I don't get the error above, but I still can't stop/start the interface
    Anyone have a solution?
EDIT: Looks like I have struck the bug reported here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=141379

Did you resolve this? I've just been hit with the same after upgrading to Server 3.2.2.

  • Network Management System procedure

    Hi All,
I have some confusion about the subject. Please correct me if i am wrong
There are two techniques to have compelte network management system.
    Netflow Analyzer
    IP SLA
    Question:
    Both supported by cisco?
    Both use snmp (not sure)?
Both use specific port (like netflow use 9996 but dont know ip sla use or not)?
    Both monitor network ?
Both can be monitered by one software?
    what is nbar?

  • Gnome shell network manager issues

I'm running nm-applet on Gnome Shell. A recent update solved my problems of clicks not registering in nm-applet.
However, there are still some issues which means I'm still using 'nmcli' to connect to networks:
1/ The list of connections is not scrollable. At home, even though my wireless network has the strongest signal, it's not listed near the top. In fact, it's listed below the bottom of the screen (there are a lot of wireless networks) and there's no way to get to it!
2/ It doesn't accurately show available networks. This maybe a "Suspend" issue, but the list of networks that nm-applet shows is not up to date. It shows my home network when I'm at work and random networks which are currently not in range too.
Is there some open bug report about this or is this something I've done?
Also, 'nmcli con list' seems to list saved networks and not available networks. Is that the intended behavior?
EDIT: The man page for nmcli does say this is the intended behavior and 'nmcli dev wifi list' is what I was looking for...

    BUMP..
The above behavior hasn't changed even after a few updates. Is anybody else experiencing these issues?
Will it help if I delete all the network manager config files? I'm thinking it might be some conflict of config files between nmcli and nm-applet...

  • GRC 5.3 - Management Report Error: Cannot assign an empty string to host..

Good day Kiran Kandepalli and Others.
I have successfully executed the background jobs -
Full User, Role, Profile Synchronization & a
    Full Batch Risk Analysis
When I run the Management Reports I receive the following error -
Error while executing the Job:Cannot assign an empty string to host variable 10.
Has anybody had this error message before?
When I check table VIRSA_CC_PRMVL, variable 10 is set to No in Nullable collumn.

    Hi Sahad,
Thanks for your response.  I have checked the usr02 table and logs and do not see any empty fields or strings.  This process worked for 5.2 but fails in 5.3.  Here is the excerpt from the log for the Management Report run.  It seems to fail consistenly at a certain point.  If I knew what the batch job was looking for in host variable 10 I might be able to resolve the problem.  It seems to fail when it starts to report on users.
    Thanks.
    Dan.

  • Management Report - Cannot assign an empty string to host variable 10

We ran a Management Report for the first time after completing the User/Role/Profile Full Sync and the user/Role/Profile Batch Risk Analysis.  The job failed with the following error:
    Oct 16, 2008 12:13:29 PM com.virsa.cc.xsys.bg.BatchRiskAnalysis runBkgMgmReport
WARNING: Exception in Management Report Job: Cannot assign an empty string to host variable 10.
com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException: Cannot assign an empty string to host variable 10.
We are on GRC 5.3 support pack 4.  Has anybody encountered this error? What does host variable 10 refer to?

I checked our USOBT_C table and we have a lot of empty values. If this is allowed to be empty in SAP and this is the table that is uploaded into CC, why would all the fields in CC tables then be defined as NOT NULL?  We suspect that since we had uploaded USOBT_C under 5.2 and if this had been an issue before, it may have been corrected when we upgraded to 5.3 but then the old data is still in our system. Is there an easy way to get around or correct this?
    Thanks.

  • PI 2.0 Manager Report for Alarm Assignments and Acknowledgements

Is there a Prime Infrastructure 2.0 manager report that shows daily alarms, who the alarms were assigned to and when they were acknowledged? I can't find anything on the tool or in the documentation and this is required to prove compliance in the financial industry.
    Thanks

There is no PI 2.0 release yet.
LMS 4.2 can do this. Reference.
I am curious - can you cite the compliance regulation that requires this feature?
