Never ever ever ever change my appointment times in iCal!
I have read dozens of posts. I have played with the settings and my behaviour until I am sick.
In >30 years of using both paper and electronic diaries, I HAVE NEVER ONCE SET A TIME FOR ANY OTHER TIME ZONE APART FROM THE RELEVANT ONE FOR MY MEETING!!
I just was late for another meeting having flown in from the UK to Prague.
I am running MacOS 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro
Following recomendations from Apple itself, I turned off the hopelessly muddled and confusing 'Time Zone Support' (which never worked in practice as things that synch or when you add appts in a hurry you never see the dialog to set time zone for the specific event)
1/ The 'automatic time change' did NOT change my time zone. (and yes, I WAS on the internet) I had to do this manually
2/ In doing this manual change ONCE AGAIN ALL MY MEETINGS WERE CHANGED BY 1 HOUR!!
Imagine my embarassment when my client shows up 1 hour 'early' literally catching me with my pants down (I was in the toilet) and unprepared. Joked with him that he was quite keen - he takes offense that he was spot on time.
Put in a new option in Preferences: NEVER CHANGE TIME (or word it as "PRESERVE TIMES AS ENTERED")

Just fix this. Obviously the programmers behind this 'feature' (a pain in the backside for many years) never had the real world experience of travelling between time zones.

Just fix this. You have exacerbated the problem a hundred-fold by encouraging us all to use our iCal as the root to which we synch our iPads, iPhones, and 3rd party calendar systems.

This is actually a run-on sentence, so it's a little difficult to tell what you mean.
Time is visible in the appointments at a glance in day view. I think you acknowledge this and agree.
Time is also visible in week view. (You didn't mention week view.)
Time is not visible in month view. You could see the time for a specific event by clicking on it.
Similarly, time is not visible in year view.
It makes sense that as you lose fidelity, you lose detail. -
ICal changed my appointment times
Dear All, can someone explain why this happened? I restarted my PB (Tiger 10.4.6) for the first time in this time zone (CET daylight saving). When I booted iCal it showed most appointments as one hour ahead of their actual time.
I have time zone support turned off (it was on some time ago, but has been off for months). Some of the times were entered while I was in the UK (GMT +1), and some here in France. All changed.
This is a little alarming as some of the appointments are flights I have to catch. Is there somehting I am doing wrong? I expect iCal to keep all my appointment times exactly as I set them.

I verified the timezone settings as described in this thread. Settings | General | Time Zone Support = Yes. Time Zone = Columbus, USA (Columbus, Ohio?) I also tried other cities in the Eastern Time Zone since it was not clear if Columbus = Ohio or Georgia.
My desktop computer is set to Eastern Time Zone in the Date/Time Settings of Windows XP. Hours & Minutes are in synch between iPhone and Desktop.
I have also tried the synch option under the Info tab in iTunes to replace Calendar data on the next synch. No luck.

How do I stop iCal from changing my appointment times when traveling?
Once again I missed an important meeting as I had entered it into my iPhone so that event is to start at 10 AM. Last night I flew to this city which is two hours ahead of my town. So what again happened is that iCal just decided to change the time of my appointment to 12 AM.
Why on earth would iCal asume that I would eneter the event into it in my hometowns time? I mean, when agreeing on the phone with a client, you do not say I'll be there 10 AM my time. You obviously say "ok let us meet at 10 AM".
So how do I stop this from happening.I was having the same problem and spent some time on the phone with apple today.(new computer is under apple care). Tried a ton of stuff with different folks and ultimately I (well, me and 3 apple specialists) was able to solve this issue.
Here's the break down:
1. Quit Mail, Calendar and Messages.
2. Open: System Preference -> Mail, Contacts & Calendars
3. Delete all your google accounts (using the little minus button below your account list)
4. Restart your computer.
5. Re-add your google accounts. (Obviously, keep the calendar box checked).
6. Open calendar and wait for your google info to populate.
7. Attempt to add an event with correct time zone.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Events I created while I was having the problem still had the problem.
I simply deleted those broken events and recreated them with refreshed settings.
I've only had this working for a few hours so I'm not certain it will stay working forever.
But for now it is a relief.
I realize deleting and re-adding the accounts is annoying but it's a lot less frustrating than seeing UTC every time you add an event.

I need to change the time zone without changing appointment times individua
I have moved back to Nairobi from London and need to change the default time zone on iCal. However, when I do it changes the appointment time.
Is there any way I can say 'from this point on, I am in a different time zone, please don't change the times of my appointments and get the alarm times right on iCal and when synchronising with my iTouch'.1) you have to do it for each event.
2) as for time display: go to system preferences>date&time and select 24-hour clock rather than am/pm, then go to system preferences>international>formats>times>customize, then customize the short, medium, long and full to show the 24hr setting - also remove the AM/PM of course and drag whatever field is appropriate as in hour, minutes..

No longer able to use + and - keys to change dates or time?
I recently upgraded from an igloo iMac running OS 10.3.9 to a new Mac mini with 10.5.8 (awaiting upgrade to Snow Leopard).
I used to use the + and - keys all the time to change dates and time in iCal, but have been unable to since my upgrade. Has that functionality been deleted, or is there a way to do it that I have just not discovered yet?

If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device. -

How can I use iCloud again after upgrading OS to Mountain Lion? 2 days of trying every password I have ever used, AND changing Apple ID and iTunes ID, still nothing. Can't backup on iCloud anymore.
Apple ID's can be used for anything, a single ID can be used for all your accounts (ie iCloud, iTunes, MAS, Apple community etc), ideally this would be the way forward. So far as iTunes goes you need to continue to use the same ID as you have always used or you will lose access to your previous purchases and your iTunes match subscription.
If you are using a second ID for iCloud, you can continue to do so or use the ID you use for iTunes, but if you choose the later you will need to move all your calendar, contact etc data to the account using the ID you use for iTunes.
When (if) you change which account you use you would delete the account on an iOS device and log back in with the correct details, on a mac you would sign out in the iCloud system preference pane. -

I changed my apple ID and my icould account. Ever since this change, i am unable to access my email. everytime i open my Yahoo Inbox, I get this msg saying "Cannot Get Mail" "The connection to the server failed". but 'm on wifi and can access all sorts of pages and games. My Cellular data for my email is "on"
The email opens but it does not upload new emails.If you use iCloud as well, you can try adding it back to your accounts as well. I have 7 email accounts (including iCloud and a Yahoo account) in mail on my iPhone and iPad and have no problems with them. I suspect it was not removing iCloud that fixed your problem, it was the re-entering the Yahoo account login credentials (maybe they just got corrupted - could be as simple as that).
If you do add iCloud back, and it causes problems right away with your Yahoo, then you should send a ticket in to the iCloud support folks as that would seem to be something not working correctly?

Also if you actually deleted the iCloud account, remember you can keep the account, and just disable it for mail in the iCloud settings (so you can keep using iCloud for other features even if you do not want to use iCloud mail). -

Effect of time zone change on scheduled appointment times
I have had a Palm Treo 650 for three years. It had its shortcomings, but the calendar was well-designed. I could be in the Pacific time zone and arrange an appointment in New York for 1:00PM on a certain day. When I arrived in New York, the Treo's time had automatically changed to Eastern time and the appointment time was still 1:00PM on the calendar.
I just bought a BlackBerry 8330 because Verizon's network coverage is far superior to ATT's at places where I spend most of my time. The BB has excellent web access and email, but the calendar has a problem. If I were in the Pacific time zone and set an appointment for New York at 1:00PM and then traveled to New York, the BB's time would change to Eastern, but the appointment time would also be changed to 4:00PM. This can be a trap that can cause me to occasionally miss an important meeting. I can't afford this risk. I'm likely to return the BB and look for another PDA.

It is not totally clear to me, but it sounds as though the iPhone may be the same as the BlackBerry. If so, then I have to set a time AND make sure that, at the time the appointment is entered, the time zone is properly set for the location of the meeting. The Treo's meeting time was independent of the time zone that was in effect when the appointment time was entered. There was no special setting for it, but there is a setting to either keep the desired time zone in effect regardless of where the phone was located or to let the network adjust the time zone whenever a trip was made. It automatically took the network time from wherever it was so the clock was always right and the alarm for an upcoming meeting would go off at the proper time even if the appointment was entered while set for another time zone. The statement "Time Zone Support always shows event dates and times in the time zone selected for calendars" doesn't really say how it affects previously set appointments. It will only become clear when someone who travels a lot says how it works in practice.

I have tried to log in App Store with my Apple ID 3 times but never possible.

To post this question, I tried thierd time to change password, and before I tried to log in to App store, I logged in this community, and I could !
Then I could finally log in App store also.
But still I feel something is wrong with my connection.
