    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

  • HT3046 I have a Powerbook G4 that I have not used for a number of years.  I believe there are photos on it that I want to retrieve.  The unit will not power on and there is no evidence it is alive.  Neither the wall plug in or a new battery helped.  Sugge

My G4 will not power up.  I installed a new battery and still nothing.  Help.

Try taking out the main battery and letting the PB sit turned off but plugged into wall power for 24-48 hours. Then reinstall the main battery and try a start.
When you try to start it, do you get any sounds, like the Mac "chimes" or hear the hard drive or optical drive spin up? If you get those sounds, try holding teh SHIFT key during startup; keep holding until you see a desktop and then lt go the key. Don't try using the comptuer at this point--it won't have all needed extensions loaded. Simply try a normal start to see fi that gets a regular desktop,
Do you have the system install/restire disks that came with the computer, or retail install disk? Both are bootable. Try booting from one of those optical disks. Hold the c key to force booting from the optical drive.

  • New battery fix?

My original battery was dying and my ac adapter was also playing up. I think the battery got totally drained. I had the power cord fixed and when I plugged it in the green light came on but the computer wont start . I reset the PMU and still absolutely nothing - no green light at all.
Will a new battery help and if I get one do I have to another PMU reset or battery charge before it will power up?

Hi, billcow, and welcome to Apple Discussions. Before you buy anything else, consider the possibility that a dead internal backup battery may be all that's preventing your Tibook from starting. If both your main battery and your AC adapter have been malfunctioning lately, chances are good that the PB has been left standing without any source of power for more than the few minutes the internal backup battery (which is rechargeable) takes to drain completely in the absence of any other power source.
Remove the main battery and leave the AC adapter plugged in for 4-6 hours to recharge the internal backup battery. With the main battery still out, try to start the Powerbook on AC power. If that works, put the main battery back in, let it charge up all the way, and then try starting up on battery power alone, without the AC adapter connected. If that also works, your problem was merely a temporarily-drained internal battery, and you're in the clear now.
You say you "had the power cord fixed". Which cord, and how was it fixed?
If you can't start the Powerbook any which way after trying to recharge the internal backup battery for 4-6 hours, suspect your AC adapter. If you can repeat that process using an adapter that's known to be good, you may learn that your adapter still isn't working properly despite the repaired cord.

  • Help w macbook 10.6.8 bought new battery A1185 not working

I need help! I bought my macbook in early 2009 and my battery stopped working about 2 years ago and in the meantime I updated the system to Snow Leopard so now it is Mac OS X version 10.6.8. I bought online a genuine apple battery model A1185 (i pulled out the original battery and that was the model number) . Now i have put in the new battery but my computer doesnt recognise that its there and has a X in the battery symbol on the top of the screen. The power cord is a green colour except for when i turn it off and then it turns orange. So I left the battery in and the cord connected overnight while it was turned off with the orange light on thinking that the new battery must be charging but today when i checked it (over 12 hours later) the battery symbol still shows an X and when i disconnect the power cord the computer loses all power indicating that it is not registered that there is a battery there.
Also when I remove the new battery and press the small button only one of the five green lights, light up. I also have been browsing this issue online and saw some reference to the old macbook battery not working with the new system 10.6 so i did a software update but still not working. Any help greatly appreciated!

  • Buying A New Battery Again? PLEASE HELP.

    Hi,
When I first purchased my MBP 15" in 2007, the battery would only last at most a couple hours. It would decrease more and more until it would only last for 10 minutes (I usually leave it plugged in when it is already 100% and overnight).
I got a new battery a few months ago and it worked great, giving me around 4-5 hours of battery if I remember correctly. I still kept it plugged in at 100% and kept it on overnight. Soon after, the battery would only last 10-15 minutes when unplugged (within a matter of months of buying a new battery).
Now it doesn't charge the battery to 100%, it stays at 0% so I am required to keep it plugged in. I was wondering whether this was a battery fault or something else. I have no more warranty and was wondering what I should do. I do not want to drop another $120 on a new battery if that isn't the main problem.
Please help me, I appreciate any kind of information. Thank you!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately you didn't buy AppleCare, or take advantage of the past warranty Exchange/Repair program that existed for batteries for awhile. Sounds like you are out of luck. Have it looked at by one of these technicians, if they charge less than Apple:

  • New battery needed - and very confused!!! help!

my ipod mini battery is not playing for 8 hours but for about 2 hours
the warranty is still in date, so will getting a new battery be free if i send it in?
also, do they give you just a different ipod mini if you send it in for repair of the battery, if so are they brand new or used?
and finally, on this site it says to test the battery life of the ipod, you have to play an album over and over to find out exactly how long the battery life is, and you are asked how long this is when sending it in for servicing. do they actually ask you? and can you be refused a service of the battery?!!! please help !!
    thanx!!

"the warranty is still in date, so will getting a new battery be free if i send it in?"
If your iPod is over 180 days old, they may charge you a $30 handeling fee, but other than that, yes.
"do they give you just a different ipod mini if you send it in for repair of the battery, if so are they brand new or used?"
They'll most likely send you a refurbished mini.
    "do they actually ask you?"
That one, I don't know. Never needed to find out.
"can you be refused a service of the battery?!!!"
Yes. If you battery lasts more than half its advertised life, it is within what Apple considers to be acceptable performance and they may refuse service. Also, if your iPod shows signs of excessive physical damage, Apple may refuse service.
If you're really only getting two hours, I would definately send it in.
    Good luck!

  • New battery died and I can't recharge it. Help!!

Ok so I just got a new battery and I left it to charge not realizing that it was not recognized by the computer (careless, I know).  Now the battery is dead and I can't turn it on to fix the unrecognized problem.  What can I do? I appreciate the help!!!

The charger may also be the problem, not necessarily the battery. Also a bad contact, to say nothing of motherboard— Try the following:
    - borrow another charger, does it work? if not
    - try to test another battery, does it work? if not
problem may be more serious than battery or charger. If you bought a new battery, and still does not work, I have all reasons to suspect that problems is NOT with battery.

  • Help with new battery issues

I just bought new battery for my Macbook aluminium 13inch (late 2008),and i would really appreciate if you guys could help me with my issue. When i put my new battery in Mac how long do i have to charge it (all day or should i threat it like its not new and when its charged i can remove it from the charger)?

  • Having problems with brand new battery installed...Help please!

Here's my problem. I just recently replaced the battery on my 13" Macbook. The brand new battery ordered from Apple arrived on Saturday and up until last night everything was great. Now all of a sudden the computer is doing the same things it did with the old battery. I am getting the green light on the MagSafe Adapter even though the battery is not fully charged. I am also alternating between "Not Charging" on the battery icon and a "X" on the icon.
I did some reading and tried resetting the PRAM and SMC. I even uninstalled Leopard and reinstalled Tiger (updating everything afterwards), thinking maybe it was a software issue. (I just recently installed Leopard and hoped it was just a bad install.) None of that really seems to work.
There is one slight exception- the SMC reset. After I do the SMC reset I get the amber light from the adapter, the icon shows charging and all is well for about 15 to 30 minutes. Then I am back at square one.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or ideas on what could be going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It seems like you have eliminated all the easy fixes for your problem - what is left is the computer itself. Call Apple (800-275-2273) and explain the troubleshooting you have already done. They should set up a repair for your computer. If it is out of warranty you may have to pay for the repair.
    Best of luck.

  • TouchSmart tx2-1370us HUGE issues with new battery PLEASE HELP I AM DESPERATE!!!!!

I purchased a new battery for my laptop. I got a LHP-41XT which is supposed to last longer... the following issues I initially thought were because I got a defective battery but I replaced it for another one and they are still happening:
Battery is fully charged. When power cord is disconnected after a random amount of time the computer just dies while the charge does not even get down to 80%. The computer does not even go into the shut down process, it just completely dies.
When trying to turn on the computer with battery it starts to boot up and after a few seconds it completely shuts off. After that no matter how many times I press the bottom to turn it on it just wont even try to turn on. I have to turn it on with the cord.
To try to remediate the problem I have tried and failed the following:
     -  Get a new battery of the same model in case the problem was the battery
     -  Calibrate the battery using every single option there is (changing power profile to "Calibrate," letting the computer discharge completly without using it, letting the computer discharge completly using it, letting the computer discharge completly without using it in while in safe mode) but the computer just keeps on dying.
     -  Change all the power settings so the computer does not hibernate, go into shut down, or does anything when the power levels go down.
     -  Erase completely the battery drives so the computer does not try to detect the battery charge.
     -  Upgraded the computer bios to the latest version
     -  Replaced BIOS battery
Please someone help me I do not know what else to do and I don't want to keep wasting money to try stuff that does not work...

No I haven't and HP seems not to care about the problem so guess what. No more HP's for me anymore....
