New Community Manager?

I just spotted a NigelE who's a Community Manager.
But no mention of him here Has Kerry gone? Are there now two managers? Would you care to introduce yourself Nigel? Do you intend to make any improvements to the BTCare forums?

Thanks, Jeff! I'm familiar with the obstacles of using the Lithium search engine, as I've worked with Lithium in the past. I have already been in contact with them with suggestions for improving it. And I'm happy to raise more suggestions to them if you have any.

I will definitely make sure Matt sends that package out soon! I'm not sure how you've been able to pass through any woods without your shrubbery.
Don't blame NI!  I'm sure the reason is Tim cranked out the last few kPosts so fast the srubbery didn't have enough time to grow!

1.Licensing on v10 is not different from version9. But yes it has been renamed to Cisco Prime License Manager.
If you compare licenses on v10 to CUCM version 8.X or earlier, then in that case you will see a BIG change. If you need more info about this change please do let me know.

  • How to migrate from BE6000 to Communications Manager

    Dear forum members,
first of all, I'am tired. I have been on a long journey from the day we bought our Cisco Unified Communication system until now.
Technically everything worked just fine, right from the beginning until now. But starting from the first day, I had several huge
issues with our Cisco reseller (Deutsche Telekom/T-Systems).
It all started with the fact, that all hardware related contracts and services were SmartNet Services and added directly to our company account.
All software related services were booked as "Shared Services". So we were the rightfull owner of the licenses but our reseller had to migrate/issue all tickets, licensing requests and so on.
It took us (me and our reseller) over a year to set these things "right".
Right now, everything (hardware and software related services, licenses, ...) are bound to our Cisco account. We can open TAC cases, download software/firmware and so on.
Last week, we migrated successfully from Call Manager 8.6.5 to 10.0. So I was really happy to see, that everything worked fine (I could migrate my licenses, download the software, ...).
I thought, "Hey, finally eveything works as expected..."
    I was wrong, so wrong...
What happend? I tell you what happend...
During the migration, we had to move all our servers (CUCM, CUC & CUPS) from our Cisco C200 M2 Server to our Dell VMware cluster, because the C200 M2 is (as far as I know) not supported anymore for BE6000 10.x and we didn't wand to buy a new C220 M3 server.
Due to the fact, that the BE6000 is only supported on that hardware, we decided to migrate our BE6000 to a Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
Our reseller told me, that Cisco Unified Communications Manager is supported on third party hardware (if the hardware meets certain requirements, like processors and so on) and due to the fact that we only use CUCM, CUC & CUPS there would be no difference for us when it comes to features.
So I said: Great, let's do that. And when you are doing that, can you please order us a license for a collab edge gateway (the thing that enables Jabber to proxy through the firewall without the need of a vpn tunnel).
And that was the point when our communication stucked...
Since that mail, I don't get any response from our reseller regarding this two tasks. They told me, that I can do that myself. I tried that and searched all cisco portals and then opended a TAC case.
The TAC team told me, that our reseller had to file a sales order (is that right?) and send me back to them.
Right now, I'am trapped between Cisco and my reseller and I'am really tired. Can someone please tell me what I can do/have to do to patch things up?
    Kind regards,
    René

DRS from your current server which is using the 6K OVAs, into your dell server which should NOT be using the 6K OVAS, but any of the other non-6K options you have.
I assume you've already verified your server is supported under 3rd party spec guidelines???
But, that's all it takes to move from a 6K into an enterprise CUCM, or the other way around as well.

  • Payment Rule maintenance per currency in Bank Communication Management

    Hi,
We have maintained Rules for Payment Grouping in Bank Communication Management based on amount limits. The basic currency we expected is GBP so we have the same set of amount limits for all Company Codes until now.
We've now introduced a new Company Code which makes payments in USD. We'd like the same amount limits to be used for payments from this Company Code too.
Eg: We have a rule for amount range from 100K to 150K. If the payment is in GBP the rule gets picked up if the payment amount is between 100K GBP and 150K GBP.
Now if a USD payment is made of 130K USD, the above rule gets picked up. We would like to see that the GBP equivalent of 130K USD... i.e. 205K USD is considered as the amount and a suitable rule is picked up.
How do we achieve this in the rule definitions? I see that the Currency field limits the rule to be considered only for payments made in one currency. Is there a way of associating the amount limits to a base currency so that other currency payments will get converted against this currency and be evaluated?
Would appreciate any help in this regard as we're at a loss currently.
    Thanks in advance.
    Madhu

    HI
Can you verify your payment run log? are there any payments available or not

    Hello Robert,
Apologies for a delayed response, some days get very hectic.
In CallManager, we only define the SRST reference, and CUCM version and SRST version are independent of each other.
The only thing, which is related and will change with CUCM upgrade is Phone F/w version.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr1.pdf
You may just want to check your, phone f/w compatibility with the SRST version running on your ISR G1 Gateways:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2169/products_device_support_tables_list.html
    For Example: SRST version 7.1
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/vcallcon/ps2169/data_sheet_c78-520521.html
You may want to do some lab testing with CUCM 9.1 and an SRST supported f/w on your phones.
If you decide to run the old Phone/F/w to support the SRST version, you may not be able to take advantage of new features.
Also, you can try and upgrade your phones(Wih CUCM 9.1) and test them with your SRST version.
It should work fine, but from a troubleshooting perspective, TAC may request you to come into a Cisco Supported combination.
Please, let me know if this clarifies your doubt or we can have a quick phone call.
    Regards
    Amit Singh

  • Bank Communication Management - Incoming messages from Banks

    Hi,
We are using Bank communication management. When we send our ACH and Wire files to the bank, the bank sends two confirmations: 1. First confirmation says that the file is received. 2. Second confirmation sends the total number of items and total amount in the payment file.
I have done the necessary configuration in BCM in the step shown below:
Financial Supply Chain Management ® Bank Communication Management ® Payment Status Management ® Map External Status to Internal Status
How do I update this in the payment monitor (T-CODE - BNK_MONI)?
    SAP says
You must connect the XI system to the ERP system. The interface Collective Payment Order Notification must be set up. What is this interface 'Collective payment order notification' and where should I set it up?
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
    Kalyan

    Hi Ankish,
As mentioned by Kalyan above (check suggestions from SAP in his comment), you should use the interface Collective Payment Order Notification given by SAP in ESR (Enterprise Service Repository) SAP APPL (SAP APPL 6.05). If your PI environment doesnot have it then you need to request yuor basis to download this from SAP.
After you download the ESR , you can find the standard Service interface called "CollectivePaymentOrderNotification_In" under Namespace http://sap.com/xi/APPL/Global2 .
Now once you have this interface downloaded,  create a new message mapping using the message Type "CollectivePaymentOrderNotification_async" as Target,  and your message  from BANK or SWIFT (uploaded into PI as external definition) as source. Map the required fields , mainly map the external status code from BANK to ExecutionStatusCode field. Also map the required header fields.
Once you create the new mapping , create required Integration builder objects and you are all set.
The CollectivePaymentOrderNotification interface is proxy in ECC which has required methods to update the BCM with the status.
Also please check below links for more information.

  • Ideas on adding licenses to a 8.X Communications Manager cluster before upgrade to v10.

Hi, hope is all well. This is something I started working with my global Cisco reseller but it takes sometime I wanted to make sure I see different options if possible to present. My company has deployments of collaboration products mainly on v8.x (all three main 8.0.2, 8.5.1 and 8.6.2) going to v10 during this year. Some already run on UCS but some are on MCS and will be late in migration. For those late, there are some growth need in end user/phone deployment but since v8 is end of sale, my provider may not be able to sell licenses.
If this is true, they might offer to buy v10 licenses with software subscription just like new deployment, which is not too bad at all since we will use this added amount on future v10 upgrade, but has anyone ever did that? I am afraid we use v10 PAK (if possible) to generate v8 license file, will render it not upgradable later. Reasoning is, let's say there is 1000 licenses on v8 with UCSS and we buy 15 v10 licenses downgraded to v8. Once we processo v8 to v10 upgrade on PUT, Cisco might see only 1000 original v8 liceses to provide upgrade instead of 1015.
Does it make sense or am I missing something here? Thank you very much for any suggestions.

UCSS and CUCM 8.X licenses have both been EoL. Even the existing UCSS+ ESW has been converted to SWSS.

  • Broken Cisco Unity / Unified Communications Manager association

We have several Cisco Unity Connection users with the following status in their profiles:
"This user's association to the co-resident Cisco Unified Communications Manager user has been broken.
Please Click Here to reassociate the orphaned user."
Clicking on the reassociation button does not show any of the users with broken associations, just a few resource users.
Is there any way to reassociate these users with CUCM without having to delete them in Unity Connection along with their mailboxes?

These are the steps I took to resolve the issue. I was particularly concerned about users losing saved messages in their voicemail. The posted solution did not give much detail on what to do.
    1) Create a new user in CUCM. For example, I have a user called 'John Doe' in the system. I created a new one called 'John Doe2'.
    2) After creating the user I associated 'John Doe2' to the phone in use by 'John Doe'. Then I set the Primary Extension as needed for that user. Hit the 'Save' button and verify that the 'Create Cisco Unity User' option shows up in the drop-down box in the right hand corner.
    3) Log into Cisco Unity Connection Administration, and select 'John Doe'. Click on the link to re-associate and select 'John Doe2'. This links the Unity user to the CUCM user.
    4) Log back into CUCM and select 'John Doe' from the user list. Remove all device associations from the user. Hit Save, then delete the user.
    5) Select 'John Doe2' and rename the user as 'John Doe'.
These steps fixed my problem. I had to do it for all the users whose association was broken. One note to make is that the voicemail PIN is automatically reset to the default I believe, which is 0000. Other than that voicemail continues to work normally and users don't have to redo their greetings and such.

  • The New Traffic Management Transparency Code

I'm hoping that at some point this month (in April),  BT will make some kind of official statement to the effect that the existing 300GB allowance on Infinity Option 2 has been removed. Which means anyone going over 300GB (uploads + downloads) in a single month will no longer be penalised. This doesn't mean that the heaviest users are let off the hook, as I understand it, even after the 300GB allowance is scrapped you can still be classified as a heavy user and be penalised for it. The question that people will be asking is this ...
"At what point above 300 GB will I be classified as a "Heavy User", or "How Much can I safely  download during Peak Periods
before being classified as a "Heavy User" ?
This also implies BT will probably be using traffic managment as the way to control bandwidth demands on the network; We won't know exactly what those traffic Management policies will be until the end of June 2011, when BT along with a number of other Broadband providers launch a new traffic management transparency code ...
The new voluntary code includes three commitments:
    1. Firstly to provide more information to consumers about what traffic management takes place, for what purpose and with what impact.
    2. Secondly to comply with a set of good practice principles on providing information to consumer that is:  understandable; appropriate; accessible; current; comparable; and verifiable.
    3. Thirdly to publish a common Key Facts Indicator (KFI) table, summarising the traffic management practices they use for each broadband product they currently market, which will be available on ISPs’ websites by end of June 2011.
    http://www.broadbanduk.org/content/view/479/7/

    sahotaquack wrote:
Thats because i asked if i will still be restricted if i go over the 300GB allowance per month. Everyone knows we will still be restricted with the p2p at peak times. You seem to be so anti-bt, why are you even on these forums if you hate them so much?
Don't start turning this into an issue of me hating BT, this is an issue of your reluctance to face the facts.
I'm not anti BT in any way shape or form, and very happy with my Infinity connection. You on the other hand  don't seem to be very happy with yours. You see, I have little patience for someone who repeatedly posts the same question in the forums, and then because he doesn't like the answer, reposts the same question in another thread.
I responded to your question here:
    http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-Speed-Connection-Issues/BT-TO-SCRAP-300GB-LIMIT/m-p/165579#M70898
you obviously don't like my answer or don't believe my answer, either way I dont really care. But you then continue on to say that you had called BT and are told by someone at BT that ...
"I confirm to you that, from April 2011 we’ll be removing this fair usage policy for BT Total Broadband Option 3 and BT Infinity Option 2. The Broadband speed will not be restricted once this action is taken. However, as I am not able to confirm the exact date to you, I would request you to wait till the end of April, 2011. "
and it would appear that you like this answer from BT so much that you are forced to post it in a different thread I had started regarding the traffic management transparancy code. And once again I tell you that whoever gave you that information is wrong.
Are you beginning to see a pattern here, let's just end this here & now. If you would like to believe that after the 300GB allowance is removed that you can download over 300 GB and remain untouched by traffic management go right ahead, because at some point above 300GB you will trip traffic management & have your speed cut. END OF STORY, bye bye.

  • AT&T Communications Manager reinstall problem

I'm running a MacBook Air with OS X 10.8.1.   I bought an AT&T USBConnect Force 4G, and the AT&T Communications Manager software installed correctly when the device was connected.  After installation Communications Manager wanted to update and I let it, and the update failed.  So, I tried to uninstall Communications Manager by dragging it to the trashcan (I'm fairly new to the Mac community and, silly me, trusted AT&T to write a proper Mac program to uninstall this way!) As it turns out, AT&T says one must use the Communication Manager uninstaller or files will be left behind.  Ok, Ok, I didn't read that instruction and I screwed up.  I get that.
Problem is, I cannot reinstall the AT&T Communications Manager software. When I try to reinstall, the program says it can't install because there's a newer version of the Communications Manager already present.  I cannot find the files I need to delete--as I said, I'm a fairly recent convert to Mac, and I don't really know how to navigate around in the OS X file system very well.  I tried Time Machine but that didn't work.
Please advise as to how I would locate the files I need to delete...
    Thanks much,
    Roger

Well, my experience with T-mobile and Verizon WWAN installers finds that they splatter stuff all over the system including kernel device drivers. Sounds like at&t is no different. Simply dragging the visual application icon to the trash never completely uninstalls this crud.
I use a Mac application called Pacifist developed by CharlesSoft dot com. It is $20 shareware that also has a countdown try button. It installs in /Applications and launches as a graphical tool. Drag the original at&t installer onto Pacifist and it will then present a hierarchy of the installation file names and locations. Once you have this detective information, you can surgically remove the indicated files from your system.
Your are new to the Mac community. Are you new to the UNIX terminal command line? If yes, then you should allow someone else more experienced with the terminal interface to follow the above approach, because one wrong move with terminal file removal and you could find yourself re-installing OS X. Also, if TimeMachine has been backing up your entire system, you have this undesireable installation in your back-ups. A wrong restore could re-create your problems.

  • How do i reinstall AT&T Communications Manager?

I recently bought the Nokie Booklet, yesterday in fact. And i also purchased Windows 7 Home premium. Not knowing that there wasn't a CD tray on the MINI, i donwloaded it to my desktop and then uploaded it do a flash drive. I installed it on my Booklet and now the internet doesn't work. To help myself, i have already went into "Windows.Old" I get this error message.
    "C:\Windows.Old\Program Files\AT&T\Communication Manager\ATTCM.exe
The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."
I do realize that the program came with Windows 7 Starter, but that shouldn't mean it doesn't work for a later edition of Windows 7 does it? Yes, i have already tried to restore settings to factory default. And system recovery, it doesn't work because i haven't set any recover time before hand. So is there a way to get the new ATTCM.exe? All help appreciated.

P.S How do i connect the internet from my desktop to my laptop, is it manditory that i use an Ethernet-to-USB adapter?

There is a partition on the HDD that is the factory restore. You can restore the booklet to factory unless you did a clean install and wiped out the partition. When it's booting up press F8, and repair.

However, if you shutdown the OS and it just kills the JVM process, it won't happen. Is that correct?
No, it should still run. It's what shutdown hooks are for, cleaning up, eg: database connections, in the case of unexpected shutdowns. Not foolproof, by any means, though. Pulling the power cord won't run them, for obvious reasons
So actually, it probably is what the OP is afterThen we could be the problem the method is not getting invoked. Did we do something wrong: We show you what we have done.
    Runtime.getRuntime().addShutdownHook(new Thread() {
    public void run() {
    callingMyMethod();
Looks fine to me. How are you stopping the JVM?
