New computer old account

Hi - I have completely broken my Macbook air to the point of no return but I didnt manage to back up or save any of my data.  Once i buy a new one will I have any trouble using my current Apple Id that I used on my old Mac? Or will it just transfer over??
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question!!

You can use the same Apple ID on any Mac you have control or responsbility for.

purchased adobe 10 and 7 -- 2012 and 2013 -- trying to install on new computer. old one crashed. shows i need serial number. where do i get it. only have 6 discs.

Adobe is a company... what does "Adobe 10" and "Adobe 7" mean?
If you bought those on disc I don't think they are part of the Cloud
The serial number is usually on a sticker on the disc holder inside the box
If you lost your serial number check https://www.adobe.com/account.html for your registered products
When you figure out what programs you have, you might check the specific forums
If you start at the Forums Index http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use

  • New computer user account

I just made a new computer user account, and i want to move all of my itunes library from the old one to the new one. Is this possible?/ if so, how

Assuming you use the iTunes default settings where iTunes copied added items to your iTunes folder and organizes your library (meaning - everything is all self contained in the iTunes folder), then all you have to do is drag & drop your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes Music folder you find inside the iTunes folder) to a shared folder.
Then in the new user account either open the library directly from that location using these instructions...
How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304447
or move it to overwrite the iTunes folder created in the new user account and when you open iTunes it hopefully will open the old library automatically. If not, then use the instructions above again to point to it.
If you leave it in the shared folder, you can access the same library from either user account. Again you might have to use the above instructions to get them both pointed to the same location, but once you point them there, you won't need to do it anymore.

Install it on the new machine, if you have run out of Activations then you will probably need to contact Adobe and explain what happened as far as the old computer crash and burning.

  • New computer/old ipod - how do I update my libray from my ipod?

new computer/old ipod - how do I update my libray from my ipod? the music wasn't transfered from cd's, shared music files...no purchased from the ipod store.

The ipod is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy to put everything on your new computer.

  • I transferred my library to my new computer (old one completely dead!) and the music transferred but not my audio books.  They aren't appearing in my purchased history.  Can anyone help?

I transferred my library to my new computer (old one dead!) and the music transferred to a new library ok, but not my audiobooks.  My purchased history doesn't show any purchasing in this format.  Can anyone help?

Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, so you won't be able to redownload them via the Purchased link. Do you have a copy of them on your iPod or on your backup of your downloads/library ? If not, and if they are still in your country's store, then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • New computer, old .mac account, can't send e-mails!

A friend gave us his old Titanium PowerBook G4. We have an iBook G3 that we've been using and I'm trying to set up the new/old PB for my wife as her personal computer.
I upgraded osx on the pb and then tried to configure e-mail for my wife's account. I copied all of the info. exactly as it is in her old account on the ibook. For some reason, it will not send e-mails, though it will recieve them.
When I try to send e-mails, I get this error:
"Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server. All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings."
I switched the port number from 25 to the recommended one and also double-checked that everthing was copied correctly. But we still can't send mail from her computer. I couldn't find the answer with searches... any thoughts? Thanks!

    Thanks!
Here's what the error message is:
Cannot send message using the server
    smtp.mac.com:wifes.address
Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server. All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings.
    Message from: Wife's Name <[email protected]>
    Send message using: smtp.mac.com:wifes.address
So, I'm not sure what to do from here. I've tried various port addresses and none work. All that happens when I try to send a message is that I get the above error and the draft goes into the outbox.
Thanks in advance for any help, this has been really vexing for us and I'd love to get my wife up and running.

  • New Computer, Old Hard Drive?

Hello. I just upgraded my desktop and in doing so installed my old hard drive as well. My old drive is where my i tunes resided.
Well, I installed i tunes onto my new computer, essentially creating a new account (I did not copy the old file over) now when I try to synch my i pod I get the following message:
"The i pod is synched with another i tunes library. An Ipod can be synched with only one library at a time." Then I am given the choice to "erase and synch" or to "transfer purchases"
What I want to accomplish is to have all of my old music (from previous library) to move to my newly created account along with some new purchases I just made.
    How can I accomplish this?
    Thanks,

There are a couple of different ways this transfer could be handled.
    1. Backup all your data and files to a different hard drive. When your new MacBook arrives, copy your data from that drive manually. (This may not be an option since you don't have a working computer to backup from.)
    2. Put your current hard drive in an external case and use the Migration Assistant to copy the bits and pieces you choose to the new computer. Or manually drag and drop your files over. The Migration Assistant is normally used if you have an older Mac and you're upgrading and you want to copy all your files over to the new Mac (this can be done from an external hard drive and not just a working Mac). The assistant will ask you what you want to transfer over, users and their files, network settings and/or applications. You can pick and choose between those options and even pick and choose in between different users on the same hard drive (if you have more than one).
    3. Put your current hard drive into the new MacBook. It won't startup correctly, but you could then boot from your Mac OS X install disk that comes with the new MacBook, install Mac OS X as a simple "update" or an "archive and install". Obviously, you don't want to chosoe an "erase and install". And then continue to use your original drive in the new MacBook. This option is probably the most risky. While I've done something similar in the past, I haven't always had the best luck with an "update" over the top of a different build of Mac OS X. An "archive and install" will move your current System folder to a "previous" System folder and install a new System folder. You have the option to keep your user files and network settings if you choose to. Bear in mind, this path does not leave you with a backup of all your files in case something does go wrong and you must erase & install.

  • New Computer, Old iTunes

My old computer died on me so I now have a new one. How can I upload my old iTunes account with all of my music to my new computer?

*How can I upload my old iTunes account with all of my music to my new computer?*
Do you have any of your music from the old computer backed up? If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • New computer; old e-mail

I just bought a new MacBook and am setting up my e-mail. My old computer was a 2003 Powerbook G4 (I know, super old). I used the same application to recieve e-mail on that computer as I do on my new one (the little stamp with the flying eagle on it). However, my new computer has a new e-mail address. It's a .mac address and my old one was an earthink account. I can still go to the earthlink website to get my mail, but I would like to set up a new account along with the .mac one. So I go to "File" and then "Add Account". I think my old computer used a POP account, but I don't know what to put for "Account description". What do I do? Hopefully this is all making sense. Please help.

On your old PB, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your Earthlink account preferences, jot down all information there for your Earthlink account such as the Description you were using for the account with Mail on your PB.
The account description can be whatever you want it to be. This will be the name of the account's mailboxes under Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk in the mailboxes drawer.
The account type for Earthlink is POP.
The incoming mail server is: pop.earthlink.net
The account's User Name is the portion of your Earthlink email address in front of the @ sign only.
The account's password you should know.
Select the Server Settings button below the SMTP server selection.
Earthlink has an authenticated SMTP server that you should be using.
Outgoing Mail Server of SMTP Server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Server Port: 25 if you are using Earthlink as your internet service provider used for connecting to the internet and if not, enter/use 587 instead which you can probably use anyway regardless.
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Off or not selected.
    Authentication: MD5 Challenge-Response
User Name: Your entire Earthlink email address.
Password: The account's password - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.

  • New computer, authorized account...how to I get my purchases downloaded onto this new computer?

I got a new laptop, but I can't seem to figure out how to re-download the purchases I've made so far. How can I get that music back in my library? When I click the "check for downloads" button or whatever it's called, it says everything's downloaded, but I have nothing in the downloads...can't I get my music from the store since it's memorized my purchases??

I'm afraid you've misunderstood the nature of data on your computer. Yes, you can log into Facebook, GMail, YouTube etc. from any computer and all the content appears in front of you. The same is not true for documents and data created and stored on your own computer. Your iTunes library is this kind of data. It should be backed up on a regular basis and copied to your new computer when you switch machines.
If you stilll have access to the old computer, or it's hard drive, then it should be possible to undo the mistake. If not you can try to log into your iTunes store account from your new computer and use the Report a problem links from a recent purchase as a route through to the store staff. Explain your predicament carefully and calmly, explain that you realise that you have made a foolish error but that you are now unable to access or recover any of the media that you had previously purchased from the store and you would be grateful if they would let you download your purchases again.
The iTunes Store is under no obligation to permit second downloads but reports suggest that the support staff have, on occasion, chosen to do so.
Good luck, and back up your data in future.

  • New Computer, Old iPod.  Not Giving me an option to sync. Stuck on Do Not Disconnect!

I just authorized my new computer and plugged in my old ipod.  I just want to have access to all the music I have purchased through itunes, but nothing is happening.
My itunes account is open and my iPod has been on "Do Not Disconnect" for a long time now.
I have logged out and logged back it.  Held the menu button and the center button to restart ipod and disconnected then reconnnected. I have authorized then unauthorized and reauthorized.  Still nothing.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks!

I suspect your problem is your new iPhone 5 is running a lower version of iOS than your old iPhone 5. So, first update your new phone. Once you do that: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You should now be able to use the backup of your old iPhone 5.
