New font versions installed by Office 2010

Hi Forum,
I know that e.g. the Calibri font is updated with a newer version when installing Office 2010.
What I am missing is a list that tells me which fonts to update on a print server. Running a pure print server includes NOT having Office packs installed. Therefore the fonts will never be updated and I do not like the idea that I cannot upload correct fonts
to the server in good time rather than having to wait until users reports issues printing.
How do others overcome this issue on their print queues? I would assume that rendering on the client would overcome this problem. But then it will give the users extra CPU load and increase the size of the spool jobs from the client to the server.

But just getting the list is only part of the solution. How do I prevent this from ever happening. I can never be in control of the font versions installed on the client PCs.
What are others doing?

Should I have installed Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Pack 64 bit with Ex 2013 SP1?

I have installed Exchange 2013 SP1 on a 2012R2 server, and all went well (I am at early stages of migration).
Following the pre-reqs listed here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691354%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx#WS2012
I installed Microsoft Unified Communications Managed API 4.0, Core Runtime 64-bit only.
Since then I have seen other articles suggesting that I install:
Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Pack 64 bit
Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Pack SP1 64 bit
Given I didn't notice any errors in the install, do I need to install those filter packs or is that outdated advice?

This error code indicate there is something wrong with the Microsoft .NET Framework.
You can check the following two respects to check if works.
If you are running Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 or a later version, repair the installation from Control Panel > Programs and Features.
Download and install the latest .NET Framework version 2.0 from this website.

'CRT not initialized' error after installing MS Office 2010

Hi,
I encountered 'CRT not initialized error' after installing MS Office 2010. I think that with previous version of CVI there were no problems. But, with Labwindows/CVI 2012 error has outbroken. The details are as follows.
- OS : windows 7 Enterprise (32bit)
- Labwindows/CVI (v12.0.0 (422))
- MS Office 2010 (word, powerpoint, excel)
#1. clean install windows 7 (32 bit)
#2. install Labwindows/CVI v12.0.0 and device drivers (DAQ, Motion)
#3. compile and run attached test program : SUCCESS
#4. online update windows 7 (service pack, explorer 9, and etc)
#5. compile and run attached test program : SUCCESS
#6. install MS Office 2010
#7. compile and run attached test program : 'CRT error'
#8. uninstall MS Office 2010
#9. compile and run attached test program : SUCCESS
I think there are some conflicts between office 2010 and labwindows v12.0.0. How can I solve this problem?

More specifically, I decided that some parts of MS Office files and features of NI's motion library conflicts. Because in the attacted sample program, if I exclude NI-Motion functions then the program excutes nicely. But if I include NI-Motion fucntion, for example flex_select_signal, then the 'CRT not initialized' error occurs.
To solve this problem I tried step by step installation check for MS Office 2010. During each step I included more optional features in MS Office and after each installation I compiled and executed my sample program. At finally, I found that the addtional part of MS Office 2010, if I install Office Sharing Function>Microsoft IME(Korean), then the 'CRT not initialized' error occurs.
Temporarly, I solved the problem with NOT installing 'Office Sharing Function>Microsoft IME(Korean)' optional feature in the MS Office 2010.
Could you tell me why this problem occur?

It means you have to close them (Quit). Right click them one by one from the dock and click Quit.

Cannot install Microsoft Office 2010

Hello everyone,
During the last week I was trying to re-install Microsoft Office 2010 Professional without result. I was previously unistall Microsoft office 2010 with success and when I tried to installed it again a probelm occured. I run the .exe file, it started
installing the application but when the processing bar became full a message appeared saying that "A problem occured and the Microsoft Office couldnt installed". It didnt specified what exactly was the problem. I did this mutiple of times without
result. Can anybody knows why this happened ? Is there any solution? In the past I didnt have such a problem with the installation of Office.

Installing Microsoft Office 2010

Two questions:1. I've tried to download several different programs from internet sources. After the download process has been completed, a prompt on my computer "announces" that "this program couldn't be downloaded". Does anyone know why? 2. I'm trying to install Microsoft Office 2010 on my HP Touchsmart computer without success. Is there a procedure I can follow to install a program from a disc onto this computer? Thank you.

That does not mean it will not install. Depending on how the Windows autostart is setup, it might be OK. With the Microsoft Office Disk in the drive, once it gets over the initial noise making, open "Computer" from the start button and then pick the drive where the disk is. Double click on the drive. It should either start or ask if you wish to start either setup.exe or install.exe

Essbase 11.1.2 Install & Win7/Office 2010 client

All,
I have just finished liaising with our off shore partners who are supposed to be driving our Essbase upgrade and I fell like the ship has no rudder - or captain, so all help would be seriously appreciated!!. The basic premise is to run our existing 9.3 Apps on Dev servers during the upgrade and install clean Essbase 11.1.2 on existing servers with O/S upgraded from 32 bit to 64 bit. Once the new back end is proven to work with 2 Apps then migrate the apps from Dev environment to production. Our cubes are all BSO cubes without partitioning and will stay that way for 2011. We have external (LDAP) authentication through HSS on a remote server that will not be upgraded. We do NOT have EPMA at the moment and it will not be needed for our Essbase server/s. The questions are :-
1. Essbase 9.3 client seems to be the only client certified for Office 2010. Can the 9.3 Excel Add-In work seamlessly with 11.1.2 server? [i.e. I know the server should be backward compatible but has anyone had any REAL issues/experience?]
2. What if any are the pitfalls of 11.1.2 x64 install? [e.g. Sequence of install, Amt of RAM, Naming restrictions etc]
3. Must we have EPMA? [From memory I think we do NOT]
4. Will 11.1.2 Essbase Server work with HSS 9.3?
5. Any "gotchas" we should be looking out for?

Hi There,
In addition to John's great help, if you want to try out 11.1.2 quickly and (relatively) cheaply, you could try and convince your boss to spin up a test server in the cloud. Cameron Lackpour has some great info on that. This topic: Learning Essbase and Planning - Buy or Rent a Server? might help you out. You might find that the GUI is veeeeery different to what you are used to.

Detect SP version by script (Office 2010)

Hello, I want to push the Office 2010 SP2 upgrade through SCCM and I am trying to detect the Service Pack version of Office 2010 by script but I am having some difficulties.
According to this site (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2687455/fr) it says that Office 2010 SP2 is greater or equal than 14.0.7015.1000. I
have Office 2010 SP1 and my version is 14.0.7116.5000...obviously, I can't rely on that.
Also, to make things more complicated, we have the following :
Office 2010 Pro Plus and Office 2010 Standard (we also have different versions of 2003 and 2007 too...!)
Some computers only have Word or Excel installed, nothing else...so I guess the common file for all these installations would be MSO.dll ?
Office 2010 could have been installed any of these ways :
with no SP
with no SP, then SP1 applied
with SP1 applied directly in the CD
Any idea of what could be the best way for me to easily detect the SP version ??? How did you guys manage to do it ?

A simple method to detect the SP version is to go to Control Panel
-> Programs -> Programs and Features ->
View installed updates, from there we can see all the Updates for Microsoft Office, we can easily tell if the Service Pack has been installed.
Here is my update list for Microsoft Office 2013:
Apparently I've installed Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013.
This is simple and can be quite helpful.

Should I install Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Packs?

I have SharePoint Server 2010 installed. I am on version 14.0.7015.1000 (SP2) but within my SharePoint Server Search crawl I receive the following error multiple times on valid file types and character strings: "the filtering process could not be initialized
when trying to process this item. Verify that the file extension is a known type and the item is not corrupt". From searching, it appears that I may have to install the Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Packs, or is this already included in SP2?

I want to open an excel file from a folder in the Microsoft live office on Hotmail. Their instruction is to go to tools in Firefox, go to plug-ins and then install Microsofts Office 2010. Can't find plug-h. Help?

I have uploaded an excel file from my desk top to the Windows Live (HOTMAIL?) office suite. When I try to open the file I get an error that says my system is not supported. My system passes all of the listed criteria except for one. That is a plug in from Firefox. The instructions say to go to the Firefox menu, click on tools then plug-ins. Of course when I go to tools plug-ins is not immediately available, but when I do go to plug-ins, I am to click on Microsoft Office 2010. This plug in is supposed to allow earlier versions of office documents to be viewed as well as Office 2010. The plug-in is not available. When I search the Firefox website I am not able to find such a plug-in.
I am using Microsoft XP, Office 2007 and the version of Firefox prior to V4. V4 does not support all of my e-mail clients so am not able to use V4.

New Fonts Not Installing In System

Good Morning All:
I have a disk of fonts that I need to install that are a part of a visual identity package from my University. I am trying to use them in LiveType to no avail. They just come up as .exe instead of the font. The instructions tell me to simply copy them to the library.
Any help would be appreciated

1. Insert the disc that contains the new font, or copy the font to your hard disk from another location.
2. Double-click the icon for the font in the Finder. Font Book opens and displays the font so you can see what the font looks like.
3. Click Install Font.
It should then be available in the list of fonts in Live Type or the text fonts in FCP

Thanks for your post. Have you ever tested the same Office installation source in another computer? This is to check if the installation source is complete.
Also, do you have any previous version of Office installed on your computer? If yes, I would suggest you to use Microsoft Fix It tool to remove any traces and try again:

Another step that you can try is to open the parent folder of the file that the installer cannot find manually, then run Office installer again.

Not true. You could install some virtualization version if for some reason Microsoft's Mac version has some compatibility that is not there. See my FAQ*:

Certainly try some Mac compatible alternatives first. If they don't work only then install Windows on your Mac, or WINE (also explained in my FAQ).
