New Macbook Pro, Final Cut Freezing

I have a fast new macbook pro, and when i press play on my timeline in fc, i get the rainbow ball. If i wait a while it unfreezes but it's unbearable. My last slower macbook pro didn't have this problem. What do I do?

Try moving things off the internal drive to FW. When you say you got a new MacBook Pro, I assume you mean NEW new without Card slot, if you got a new older refreshed model that has a slot, get a express card to hook up eSata drives. Even if you get past the stalls now, it wil mmake you happier later.

Migration should never be done with any Adobe program.
If you have done Migration, you have to UNINSTALL first (if even possible) and then download Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and run that also. When this is done, restart your computer and install the programs from an original Adobe Installer.
Other question is, if your OS is supporting that version. You can try it, it is not officially supported, but it might work.
But CC will work, upgrade to CC2014 (without additional cost), use that as it is better anyway.

New Macbook Pro 2011 - Keep freezing......

My new macbook pro keep freezing from time to time......Even though I have updated the OS to 10.6.7, the problem still exists....

If the "funny noise" was a clicking or clattering it is probably a failed or failing hard drive. No, I don't think it had anything to do with the update. I'm assuming the "funny noise" was not the sound of the CD/DVD drive waking up you hear each time your reboot. Does it still make the "funny noise?"
If it is now working, I can't tell from your post, you probably should make an appointment at an Apple Store to have it checked since it is new.
It is generally a good idea to empty the trash and repair permissions (using Disk Utility) before and after any update. You should have a copy of Onyx on your HD. The developer is very active so keep up with the updates. it is free. It's a good idea to follow the instructions.
If I could only have one heavy duty repair solution, it would be DiskWarrior which is available at most Apple Stores. The developer has been around since System 8 or System 9 days. DiskWarrior is $99.95 and considering it will repair problems that other utilities can't touch, it is a steal. I run DiskWarrior about once a month.
Finally, I would get AppleJack which only runs in Single User Mode. That means holding down the <Command> and <S> keys at startup. AppleJack makes it possible to run Disk Repair without having to boot from an external drive or using the install disks. Follow the instructions. AppleJack is free. A plus is you will get to see what is going on "under the hood" because Single User Mode is mostly just the Unix part of Mac OS. You will get to see what all computers looked like just a few decades ago.

HighDefinition Camcorder, MacBook Pro, Final Cut Pro - and FireWire

I am left more confused than ever after searching this forum and others and asking APPLE Care and Store personnel about the following ...
I use a new MacBook Pro (10.5.8) and Final Cut Pro 6 to edit video. Until now I have used a Mini DV camera with the FireWire 800 cable to successfully Log and Capture raw footage into Final Cut then edit/publish.
Wanting to step up to an HD camcorder - I have been unable to find a High Definition Hard Drive camera that uses the FireWire cable to allow Final Cut Pro to control the camera and manage Log and Capture functions. All the cameras I have found have what appears to be proprietary USB 2.0 outputs, AV, and HDMI.
I have to believe someone is shooting and editing High-Def in the Apple environment? Are there HD camcorders that uses Apple's FireWire interface?

I don't think you're going to find a Consumer level HD camera with those sorts of Firewire controls ...
My Sony HDR-XR520VE connects to this MBP with USB 2.0 and Imports into FCP and iMove OK. It also has mini HDMI that connects directly to my Plasma.

Brand new macbook pro keeper keeps freezing

I got a brand new macbook pro less than a week ago and already it is acting up. It keeps making these clicking sounds that seem to originate from the top right corner of the keyboard (where the power button is). Also, I'm constantly getting the spinning rainbow wheel, even though the only applications I have open are pages and safari. When the spinning wheel starts, I can't even access force quit. I tried rebooting my computer but things are still freezing (even now I'm getting the wheel every couple of words that I type). This is all very frustrating. I feel like this shouldn't be happening, especially based on how much I paid for this computer. I also tried running the 'verify disk permissions' in disk utility and it came up with a bunch of problems (I don't know if that's normal or not)

Make an appointment online at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store and take it in. They should be able to get you going.

I have a new macbook pro and it freezes and email wont close

I have a new macbook pro about 6 weeks old and it is freezing when i walk away for a few minutes it goes tosleep and will not wake up until i hold power button to power off and then power on again. Also at about a week old it would not close email and that froze. Not sure what is wrong with this computer.

Visit macupdate.com where you will find several utilities that will do that. You can also do it using Preview in your Applications folder or with TextEdit.

New Macbook Pro keeps crashing/freezing when connected through wireless

Recently picked up a new Macbook Pro this past Friday. Everything worked great in the office throughout the day connected via ethernet cable. On the weekend when using the wireless connectivity it kept freezing, until I turned off the wireless and used a cable connection. Everytime I try to use wireless it will freeze up after a few minutes, ball spinning and have to eventually power off and on.
When I use a wired connection did not get the problem even once. Is this a known issue? Does this sound like a hardware problem with the Airport hardware? Since I just got it this past Friday I'm taking it back but in case there is a quick software fix please let me know.
It's a stock Macbook Pro (MacBookPro5,3) with 4 gig and the 2.66Ghz processor.

If you are using a router / cable modem try turning off, wait about 20 seconds and reconnect and restart the Mac. If you are using an Airport Express or Airport BS, try restarting. You could also try a different channel.
Open AirPort Utility, located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a computer using Mac OS X.
Select the device you’re setting up, and then click Manual Setup. Enter the base station password if necessary
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then click Wireless.
Choose a new channel from the Channel pop-up menu.
Repair disk permissions also.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

New Macbook Pro Retina - Keeps freezing...

Picked up the brand new Macbook Pro Retina on Tuesday. Great piece of kit, however I have found the system has frozen a couple of times now meaning I have to reboot by holding down the power key.
Any advice? Obviously not what I would expect from a £1250 laptop after two days...

Seriously Apple, you make us pay so much money for a "great" product, yet all we are faced with are issues. Please fix this, or a lot of Apple enthusiasts, will start leaving.

The most user friendly HD camcorder to use with MacBook Pro/Final Cut?

I have been researching what type of equipment would be best for filming and editing a professional looking film. I have been reading reviews for HD camcorders as well as video editing software. From everything I've read Final Cut Pro appears to be the best choice for software, but I can't seem to figure out which camcorder will work best with a MAC and Final Cut Pro. I will be starting from scratch so I'll be purchasing a camcorder, computer and software. I also want to make sure that I can take a class to learn to use the software. My total budget will be around $4000.

I also bought Final Cut Pro 5, a powerbook G4 17", and an (SD) video-camera about 5 years ago for a little project overseas. It worked very well. I used a 500 GB external HD connected by firewire for footage and scratch. I also used the offlineRT setting when importing footage into my project as it used about 1/9th the space as it normally would. When I was finished editing I was able to automatically switch all the low res footage with the original high-res stuff. (I'm not sure if this option is still available for HD footage). I'm now considering starting a small business and upgrading my final cut to the latest final cut studio, my old powerbook for a new loaded macbook pro 17", and a new HD POV-style video-camera.

New Macbook Pro 13" Retina Freezing

I'm new to the world of Mac, but not computers. I recently have purchased a Macbook Pro and it has been doing well for me. Except I have one little issue, my macbook will sometimes freeze completely, mouse and keyboard have no effect, system will completely stop running, any sound from music/video stops. It's not a beachballing problem when programs stop responding, the whole system completely stops. This doesn't happend very often, but I am concerned that it might happen when I'm doing work that is unsaved.
It this a known issue for my macbook pro? I've done some googling and I can see they had an issue with keyboards and mice freezing, but that's not my issue. I have this feeling it's that my mac is running out of memory, how does OSX handle this situation, does it completely kill itself without warning? Windows will normally alert me first and I'll close down my browser and re open it again and that usually solves my problems (I usually have 70+ tabs open across 2 firefox windows, that have been open for days and memory usage does build up).

Do not install any software that purports to "free memory." Such software is worse than useless.

New Mac Pro/ Final Cut X User--Jaggies and Low Res Playback

Good morning,
New Macx Pro with Cinema display and Final Cut X (demo) user. Working with P2 footage and noticed jagged egdes in upon playback. In other words, the footages appears as low res. I have the program monitor is set to full res and "fit". I am also testing Premier on my Mac (I've used Premier for years on a PC) and noticed a similar issue, but the jaggies aren't quite as bad.
This issue has me worried. Any insight would be appreciated.

Okay, problem solved...whew! It turns out the playback setting in preferences was indeed set to "better..." and not high. Well, that deserves a...duh!!!

I also fixed the Premier issue. I had to specify custom presets for the project.

Dropped frames on Brand New Macbook and Final Cut Express!

I have recently bought a New Macbook, and installed Final Cut Express HD 3.5 on it. I have Quicktime Player 7.3. My Macbook is a 2GHz Intel Core Duo processor. Memory is 1GB 667 Mhz. I have already used up a lot of Hard Drive on my Laptop with other applications, and in my capture window it says that I have 24.5GB space (109 minutes). Could this be the problem - not enough space?
I have looked over past discussions on this and in some cases I see that a downgrade to the old version of Quicktime has been necessary. As I have a new Macbook and new Final Cut Express HD, could this still be the case?
Also I have been reading the manuals, and wonder if the frame rate or time code settings could be affecting the dropped frames? Does anyone know where I can check this?
I'm a total newbie to FCE so be gentle....

You are quite frankly, a genius. I have just managed to capture my footage after a gruelling few days of trying just about anything. Your recommendations regarding settings and also the external hard drive have fixed my problem.
I'm going to have a large glass of wine now to celebrate my victory - and then I'm going to try and figure out how you actually use FCE after that.... er hem... now where did I put that manual..?

New MacBook Pro...Freezing....

Bought a new 13" MacBook Pro about a month ago. About a week ago, I have to do a hard reboot as the MacBook "freezes". I put "freezes" in quotes because I can move the beachball...I just can't do anything on the computer. The only thing that I've added since pre-freeze and post, is SugarSync and Parallels 8 (with WIndows 7 as a virtual machine). Any advice on what to do? I purchased DiskWarrior online a couple of days ago and am awaiting its arrival.

This problem I'm having is odd. The computer will run perfectly for about 24 hours and then suddenly, I notice the AirPort card is searching for a WiFI signal and then beachball. Hard reboot, then same thing...perfect for around a day, then same thing. I've had 7 straight days of that. As I mentioned earlier, the first few weeks of having this computer, everything was perfect. I've been a Mac user/owner for about a decade. This is the first problem I've ever had like this. Will AppleCare really be able to help? My computer is backed up....should I just take to the Apple Store and have them look at it? I am a teacher and need my computer every day. If I can "milk it" until Easter break, that might be the best bet for me.
